PoliticsIPOB Gets Fund In Paris From Holland, Hungary, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Turkey by Celcius(op): 6:23am On Sep 23, 2017
Following intelligence reports, the Federal Government has located a slush account in Paris to which some Nigerians have made huge deposits in support of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

It has also uncovered how some IPOB members have invaded Nigerian embassies in Hong Kong and Spain and created some scenes in the last 72 hours.

The development, security sources said, was an indication of the desperation of IPOB and the justification for the proscription of the organisation.
But the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Denys Gauer on Friday met with the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Although the outcome of the meeting between the two leaders was kept under wraps, Gauer was said to have reassured the Federal Government that France would not support any terrorist group.

It was learnt that the French government promised to take action as soon as the IPOB’s slush account was known to it.

A top security source, who spoke in confidence, said: “Intelligence gathering has led to the discovery of an account in Paris into which some Nigerians in the Diaspora remit funds to support IPOB.

“From the said account, funds were being drawn for the activities of IPOB at home and abroad. The relevant security agencies did a thorough job and provided incontrovertible evidence on the basis of which the government proscribed the terrorist organisation.

“These Nigerians in the Diaspora are using France as a clearing house.
“Investigations also confirmed inflows into the account from Holland, Hungary, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore and other parts of Europe.

“In fact, a football tournament was recently organised in Senegal to raise funds for IPOB.
“As a matter of fact, the account is being used to get money from a lot of people in the Diaspora.

“What many Nigerians did not know is that the Minister of Information and Culture was talking on the basis of credible intelligence report.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “With cooperation by the international community, especially relevant countries, we will soon get the list of all the people remitting funds into the account in Paris.”

But the government was also concerned that IPOB members were becoming desperate after the clampdown on the terrorist group.

The source said: “IPOB members are becoming desperate in the last 72 hours. About two days ago, some members of the terrorist group breezed into our Embassy in Hong Kong under the pretence of renewing their passports but ended up staging a protest.

“The IPOB members also demonstrated at our embassy in Spain a few days ago.”
At press time, the details of the session between the French Ambassador and the Minister of Information and Culture were yet to be formally released.
But a source said: “The Ambassador actually told the minister that France would never condone the activities of any terrorist group, including IPOB.

“He recalled that France has always been at the receiving end of terrorists and so cannot under any circumstances back IPOB.

“He restated the determination of the French government to support any policy or initiative which will strengthen Nigeria’s unity.

“He actually made it known that his government will not back secessionist agitation in this country.”
On the account in Paris, the Ambassador was said to have told the minister that France was “not aware of the account, but Nigeria should make a formal report.”
The source said the minister also reiterated that he “never said that France was supporting IPOB, because there is a robust relationship between France and Nigeria.

“We can never accuse France of collaborating with terrorists, because it has been assisting us in tackling Boko Haram insurgency.

“France played a major role in setting up and managing the operation of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

BusinessJpmorgan CEO Says Bitcoin Is A 'fraud' That Will Eventually Blow Up by Celcius(op): 11:11pm On Sep 21, 2017
"It's worse than tulip bulbs. It won't end well. Someone is going to get killed," Dimon said.Bitcoin fell to trade around its session lows after Dimon's comments.Dimon's criticism comes at a time when some well-known figures on Wall Street are starting to embrace the cryptocurrency.

Fred Imbert | @foimbert

Jamie Dimon: Governments look at bitcoin as a novelty  3:48 PM ET Tue, 12 Sept 2017 | 01:45

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon took a shot at bitcoin, saying the cryptocurrency "is a fraud."

"It's just not a real thing, eventually it will be closed," Dimon said Tuesday at the Delivering Alpha conference presented by CNBC and Institutional Investor.

Dimon joked that even his daughter bought some bitcoin, looking to cash in on a trend that has seen it soar more than 300 percent this year.

"I'm not saying 'go short bitcoin and sell $100,000 of bitcoin before it goes down," he said. "This is not advice of what to do. My daughter bought bitcoin, it went up and now she thinks she's a genius."

In an appearance at a separate conference earlier in the day, Dimon said bitcoin mania is reminiscent of the tulip bulb craze in the 17th century.

"It's worse than tulip bulbs. It won't end well. Someone is going to get killed," Dimon said at a banking industry conference organized by Barclays. "Currencies have legal support. It will blow up."

Dimon also said he'd "fire in a second" any JPMorgan trader who was trading bitcoin, noting two reasons: "It's against our rules and they are stupid."

Bitcoin fell to its session lows after Dimon's comments. As of 3:01 p.m. in New York, bitcoin traded at $4,106.23, down 2 percent.

Dimon's criticism comes at a time when some of the most well-known figures on Wall Street are starting to embrace the cryptocurrency. Fundstrat's Tom Lee said he sees bitcoin surging to $6,000 next year and value investor Bill Miller reportedly owns bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the 'most crowded trade' right now  11:23 AM ET Tue, 12 Sept 2017 | 00:53

Even Dimon's own bank, JPMorgan, has reportedly begun a trial project using blockchain as it tries to cut trading costs. Blockchain is the technology behind bitcoin.

Bitcoin has already soared 315 percent this year.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dimon warned about further declines in trading revenue for the banking giant.

Dimon said third-quarter trading revenue will drop about 20 percent on a year-over-year basis. Dimon also said the bank may not give intra-quarter guidance in the future.

This comes just a day after Citigroup CEO John Gerspach issued a similar warning. On Monday, Gerspach said Citi's trading revenue could fall 15 percent, citing low market volatility.

2017 has been the calmest market in decades. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, hit its lowest level in more than 20 years earlier this year.

The second quarter was also a weak one for JPMorgan's trading unit as revenue fell 14 percent during the period on a year-over-year basis.

Dimon will also be speaking later Tuesday at the Delivering Alpha conference in New York.

Thanks for speaking up.
Unlike 1967, when people still believed in Nigeria and joined the military against Biafra, this time, if the army is banking on recruiting youths to fight when the time comes, they've failed. They will not recruit, and even when they've done so, the process is skewed and unfair. Many are jobless, feel hopeless and marginalized. Many are dying already. And for me dying is more painful than death.
In advance climes, the president would have addressed the recent unrest, but for our own, forget it.
He is at the center of the upsurge, radicalization and impending disaster to come.

Don't deceive yourself

Every true Biafran will go underground and change tactics since Nigerians don't want dialogue.
This is sadly true. The agitation will never die. NK was barely 2months old when the war started. The stories he heard and the marginalization he's witnessing has brought this.
Let everyone know this, Igbo is egalitarian and every man is his King. Hardly can any man dictate for the other, but when they decide to follow one, as they did with Ojukwu, it is till death. We have that with NK now.
NK controls genuine followers than any governor in SE.
Dialogue not proscription is the solution.

PoliticsAPC Backs Military Action Against IPOB In Abia, Rivers by Celcius(op): 7:17am On Sep 14, 2017
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the recent clashes in Abia and Rivers states, saying that the country “must not yield to elements beating the drumbeats of war.”

The party also cautioned social commentators, media influencers and other stakeholders to be mindful of their utterances on the clashes.

There were reported violent clashes between security forces and the IPOB group in Abia and Rivers state.
In a statement signed Tuesday in Abuja by the National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party also expressed regrets over the incident at the National Union of Journalist (NUJ) Secretariat in Umuahia, Abia state capital, where some journalists were assaulted.

While calling for calm and restraint, APC insisted that security agencies must adhere with globally-stipulated rules of engagements and laws governing their operations.

“We also call on citizens, social commentators, media influencers and other stakeholders to be careful and mindful of their utterances on the clashes. Stoking tensions by inciting utterances, hate speech and all other forms of awful propaganda will only push the country to the precipice.

“When we see the devastation of the Country’s North East by Boko Haram, the 1966 Nigerian civil war and similar conflicts in other countries, we are reminded of the effects of internal strife.

“We must not yield to elements beating the drumbeats of war. We owe the peace and unity of our dear country to the present and unborn generations. We must speak and stand up for peaceful coexistence on our social media platforms, places of worship and all other public spaces we belong.”

On the recent agitations and actions which APC believe have the potential of undermining the unity of Nigeria, the party cautioned that “we must ensure that such agitations are peaceful and lawful.”

It, however, reiterated the APC’s belief that “it is in our collective interest to support and remain steadfast to the cause of a united Nigeria.”

PoliticsKanu To S.E Govs: I Can’t Meet With You, Soldiers Plotting To Assassinate Me by Celcius(op): 7:05am On Sep 14, 2017
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has backed out of a pre-scheduled meeting with the south-east governors forum.
Kanu had met with the governors on August 30 to discuss issues concerning the Biafra agitation.

Both parties had resolved to hold further talks, with their next meeting scheduled to hold on Friday in Enugu.

But in a statement personally signed by him, Kanu alleged that soldiers in the state intend to assassinate him on his way to the meeting.

He also said his group was preoccupied with attending to victims of the “unprovoked military onslaught against innocent civilians” in Abia state.
The statement read: “In view of the concerted effort by the oppressive Nigerian state to shatter the peace and tranquility of the south-east and the rest of Biafraland through military intimidation, it has become necessary for me to clarify why, regrettably, I may not be able to attend Friday’s meeting with the south-east governors as earlier agreed, for three main reasons.

“We are currently busy attending to our dead and injured from this latest round of unprovoked military onslaught against innocent civilians in our own land. All the casualties so far were shot by men of the Nigerian Army deployed to my house and those stationed along motor ways leading into Umuahia my hometown.

“I have been reliably informed also, that a detachment of … soldiers responsible for the murder of innocent unarmed IPOB family members have now been stationed near Enugu to ambush and assassinate me on my way to the meeting with the governors on Friday.”

He also said IPOB would meet on same Friday to decide whether to remain “non-violent or otherwise in their struggle in view of the military clampdown.
“The leadership of IPOB through the instrumentality of the directorate of state (DOS) headquartered in Germany, will be meeting to vote on the viability or otherwise of continuing our struggle in this non-violent manner.

“There is urgent need to begin the process of defending ourselves in the face of relentless murderous attacks from the Nigerian state.”
