The Omega Fire Ministry has issued a statement on the attempted arrest of its founder, Apostle Johnson Suleiman. The statement was jointly issued by Dr. Sule Emmanuel, senior pastor, OFM South Africa Churches and Director of Media (OFM Worldwide) and Barrister Samuel Amune Esq, Coordinator, OFM Legal Team Worldwide. See statement below: This is to inform the millions of followers and supporters of Apostle Johnson Suleman all over the world that the man of God is very safe, and that the attempted arrest by the Department of State Security on the man of God on the instruction and orders of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was unsuccessful. Over the last couple of months, thousands of defenseless Christians have been killed across various cities in Nigeria, with nearly a thousand so far killed in southern Kaduna alone. Shockingly, there has been no firm statement or action by the Nigerian government to stop these destruction of lives and properties neither has any one been arrested or charge to court, largely because these senseless killings are been perpetrated by kinsmen of the President. And because of the body language of the President, these killings have progressively increased. However, Apostle Johnson Suleman, in his love for Nigeria and as God’s representative to the people, has refused to keep quiet about all these immoral happenings, and he has continued to speak truth to people in position of authority; calling on the government to do the needful, and protect the citizens. Only recently, God’s servant, Apostle Johnson Suleman was forced to call on Christians all over Nigeria to defend themselves against these killers since the spate of killings has been on the rise. Interestingly, the call by the man of God for the Christians to take caution and defend themselves where necessary has become the core focus of the Nigerian government, despite the fact that it has evidently failed to protect her people. It is now determined to exploit the instruments of the State to go after the man of God. Typical of a tyrannical government, while the man of God was in Ekiti State–Nigeria for a crusade which held at the Ekiti State Pavilion, the government of President Buhari ordered two truck-load of fully armed DSS officers to forcefully arrest the man of God, but the people and the government of Ekiti-State overwhelmingly resisted the arrest. Let it be on record that this assault occurred around 1am in the morning of 25/01/2017. Apostle Johnson Suleman is not facing any corruption charges neither is there any petition against him. The attempted arrest being masterminded by the PRESIDENCY against him is unconstitutional, morally wrong and procedurally defective. This country was founded on the principles of equality before the law and justice. There should be strict adherence to the Spirit and Letters of our Constitution and nobody should be treated as a common criminal. As the country belongs to every one of us irrespective of religion, sex and social status. By the way, the man of God in his prophecies for the year 2017 which he issued before the end of 2016 had already informed the public how God showed him that in 2017 the government of President Buhari will come after him because of his stand against the policies and actions of the government. But God is ever faithful to protect his Anointed from the oppressors. All over the world, no responsible government ever makes religious leaders their object of attack, but they would rally round religious leaders to see how to forestall any crisis and foster unity. History has shown that when you make religious leaders objects of attack, the repercussions are very grave. Beyond just being an esteemed and beloved preacher of the gospel, Apostle Johnson Suleman is a renowned philanthropist and statesman. On a weekly basis, he sponsors widows, jobless graduates and several Nigerians to start businesses and give meaning to their lives, while also giving scholarships to countless number of people to obtain university education. All these self-sacrificing philanthropic gestures are not directly or indirectly funded by the church, but directly from Apostle Johnson Suleman’s private resources and from his several business interests. Even with the present needless sufferings and hardship the present government of President Buhari has plunged Nigerians into, Apostle Johnson Suleman has remained undeterred and consistent in doing his best in alleviating the sufferings of the people. While in Ekiti, he doled out over One Million Naira to certain people who had various financial challenges. These individuals were strangers to him, but because they are fellow Nigerians, he considers them his brothers and sisters, and he just had to do something to end their despair. This is the kind of good heart the man of God, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has for his country and his compatriots. We are hereby calling on the Nigerian government to put a stop to senseless attacks on Christian leaders, especially Apostle Johnson Suleman. These are leaders and beacons of hope whose integrity and teachings have kept this country in unity and consistently given hope to millions of Nigerians faced with hunger, neglect, abuse and ill-treatment from the government they optimistically voted into power. We will like to inform the government of Nigeria that Omega Fire Ministry has numerous branches of her ministry in over 51 nations, (with over 500,000 membership in Nigeria alone) and all our National churches have been mandated to take our protest letter to the Nigerian Embassy in all these nations, and to inform the government of the respective nations of the despotic and tyrannical approach of the government of President Buhari to Christians and Christian leaders in Nigeria. We also make bold to say that we shall employ all means whatsoever legally permissible to seek redress and defend ourselves and our Apostle should the Presidency continue this senseless attack. It is unacceptable that the killers of the people are not being arrested, but respected men of God are made object of attacks by the institutions of government. We like to unequivocally state that Apostle Johnson Suleman believes in the progress and unity of Nigeria, and this will remain the core of all his messages. However, no intimidation from the government will stop him from speaking the truth to the government, and standing in defense of the defenseless. We believe that the greater and brighter days of this country are very close-by, and God in His judgment will surely displace the enemies of his people, regardless of how highly placed they are. Apostle Johnson Suleman will continue praying for the good of Nigeria, and for the Almighty God to guide her leaders’ right. In conclusion, we use this medium to call on the government of President Buhari to heed the call of all Nigerians, and step-up in his leadership! Protect the people. Stop the mindless killings going on daily in Nigeria. Stop the unwarranted persecution against the church, the Christian community and the wanton destruction of churches. As father of the nation, let your body language and your voice be visibly heard as leader of a united Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.” http://www.metronaija.com/2017/01/omega-fire-ministry-issues-statement-on.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

The Nigerian Army has made clarifications on the libel allegation against The Premium Times. A statement issued on Monday by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, read: “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to erroneous impressions and insinuations on a libel case against the Premium Times to whip up sentiments. Therefore, we wish to clarify that the issue at hand is purely allegation of libel in which Premium Times falsely and unjustifiably accused the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, of false declaration of assets, owning mansions and estates in Dubai and further stated that he was being investigated by Code of Conduct Bureau for false declaration of assets in their publication of 12th December 2015. Consequently, concerted efforts were made to make Premium Times retract the story and apologize, to no avail. As a law-abiding citizen, he took appropriate legal steps of seeking redress through the courts. Therefore, this case is between the person of Lieutenant General TY Buratai and the Premium Times and not the Nigerian Army; the issue at hand is libel and not about disclosure of military information by the medium. The case between the Nigerian Army and the Premium Times of jeopardizing military operations, fraudulent obtaining and disclosure of military information that led to deaths and loss of equipment, is still in the offing. Thank you for your kind cooperation”. http://www.metronaija.com/2017/01/nigerian-army-makes-clarifications-on.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a. Winners’ Chapel International, Bishop David Oyedepo has denied a report that he incited Christians to take up arms against Muslims while speaking on the Southern Kaduna crisis. There had been reports that the Bishop said that Nigeria should break up if that is the will of God. In a statement issued by the Chairman, Editorial and Media Board of the church, Dr. Sheriff Folarin, the Bishop said the video from which the quotes were taken was in a 2015 video when churches, including Winners’ Chapel’s Northern assemblies were under frequent attacks by Boko Haram. “This was before the present administration took office,” he said. “The message bears no relevance to today’s happenings; not even developments of 2016. “The reporter(s), either being completely unprofessional, lazy or simply wicked, made the 2015 message look like a 2017 church service message. “The trending video is NOT a 2016 or 2017 video. “To this end, we can unequivocally and authoritatively say that this quote, the report and other similar reports do not fit the context of the Kaduna crisis or any developments whatsoever in the last one year. “The reports are, therefore, fake, unbelievably and maliciously fabricated and outright lies. They are tweaked, baseless and fraudulent. “Bishop Oyedepo has not said, either in private or public, anything related to the Southern Kaduna killings; not now, not hitherto. “If there has been anything done, it has been prayer for peace and unity of Nigeria. “The intent of the original author(s) or fabricators is best known to them.” http://www.metronaija.com/2017/01/southern-kaduna-crisis-i-didnt-incite.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, has called for collective support for the elderly, the weak, the disadvantaged and the dead in the society, saying that we must redefine our culture and value system as a caring society. Governor Obaseki made this call while inaugurating the ultra-modern Elderly Care Centre built by Dagomo Foundation Limited in Benin City, built by Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru. He said, “There are many of us in this audience who have the reach, who have the relationships to spread this message, to spread the word that we must redefine ourselves as a caring society.’’ While he noted that as a people and as a society that care, not for only those who are successful, added that, “if we do not begin today to invest for the future, invest for our old age, we will all be losers for it.” According to him, “What we are witnessing today is excellently what defines the hallmark of a civilized society. “Where beyond looking at ourselves, our comfort and our accomplishments, we sit back to reflect on the elderly, the weak, the disadvantaged and the dead.’’ Governor Obaseki, in his counsel, quoted Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who said `` people stop growing old when they stop pursuing their dreams’. “We must continue to pursue our dreams even beyond when we are here.” The Governor, who extolled the beautiful and laudable gesture, pledged to partner Dagomo Foundation Limited on how to work out clear policies to support the weak in the society. He said, “for us and the Government of Edo State, Dagomo Foundation is one foundation we will partner with. “We will partner with you because we need to raise very clear policies on how to deal with the issues of the elderly and the disadvantaged in the society. “We must have very well thought-out policies on how we deal particularly with the elderly because we, hopefully, will all grow old.” Obaseki also hinted that the state government would partner the foundation on the creation of a befitting resting places for the dead. According to him, “We will also partner with you to deal with the disgraceful issue of our cemeteries and how we take care of our dead. “In other parts of the world, cemeteries are laid out; they are so environmentally friendly to that extent that sometimes you say, I want to be laid there when I am no more. But I am not sure there are people in this city, in this state who want to be buried in our cemeteries, and we have converted our homes to cemeteries at the risk of our health. “So, it’s one area we would like to work with the foundation, particularly in the three local government areas of Egor, Oredo and Ikpoba Okha that easily have a population that has exceeded a million people. We need to decide how to plan out resting places,” he said. Earlier, the Executive Director, Dagomo Foundation Limited, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru, thanked the Governor for honoring their invitation to attend the inauguration of the building dedicated to their other. She said, “Dagomo is a family based non-governmental organization established in 2008 in honor of our parents – Daniel and Grace Omoigui from where the name is derived but it became operational in 2013.” Mrs. Omoigui-Okauru spoke on the focus, vision and mission of the foundation saying, “Our vision is to be a bridge in society, connecting the disadvantaged, unheard and unrecognized with opportunities for a more fulfilling life. “In this regard, our plan is to nurture a better and more caring environment for the elderly and the dead in the Nigerian society, starting with the Edo community, Benin City, and lay the seeds for an elderly care services industry in Nigeria. “We won’t plan to do this ourselves, but to work with partners, and be a catalyst for change,” she said. According to the Executive Director, “Our immediate goal is to make aging a more enjoyable and dignified experience for at least 1 million people.” She said their initiatives include, “initiating and ensuring the deployment of effective policy and legal instruments for the elderly, at both State and Federal levels” http://www.metronaija.com/2016/12/photos-obaseki-inaugurates-dagomos.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44

Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, has denied James Ibori's alleged role in his election in the house. Reacting to the claim of Peter Nwabaoshi, a senator, that the former governor influenced his emergence, Dogara said he does not have any personal relationship with Ibori; “Our attention has been drawn to statement credited to Senator Peter Nwabaoshi, who was quoted as saying that former Delta state governor James Ibori supported the emergence of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara as speaker of the house of representatives,” the statement read. “We have watched the video clip and noticed that there is no where the distinguish senator mentioned Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara by name. “However, reports published in both online and print media insinuated that senator Peter Nwabaoshi referred to Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara. “For the records, we want to state that the Rt. Hon. Speaker was elected by the votes of members of the house of representatives. There may well be silent supporters and well wishers of the honourable speaker from far and near some of whom he may not be aware of. “Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara does not have a relationship, political or otherwise with former Governor James Ibori of Delta state to warrant the insinuations in the statement credited to Senator Nwabaoshi, and had never had one.\ http://www.metronaija.com/2016/12/james-ibori-did-not-make-me-speaker.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |
Deaths are reported often due to accidents. If we all pledge to be responsible on roads,a lot of such deaths can be avoided. When such accident happens, one needs to understand that the time lapse between accident and the time when the victim gets the medical attention in hospital, to a large extent, determine the fate of the victims. Earlier in the week, the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu encountered a road accident on his way to work. He ordered his convoy to stop so as to attend to the victims as well as help them to get instant medical attention. It was at that point that he directed his Special Assistance on Health Matters, Felix Chinwendu Joe (Ezumezu) to take the victims to the hospital. Working on Governor's directive, Chinwendu has constantly visited the victims at the Hospital, also made a deposit for their treatment and promised to take care of the balance when they are discharged from the hospital. Majority of deaths take place because of lack of emergency medical care within the first crucial hour of the accident, that is why the Government of Abia State made provision for ambulances at strategic positions on the highway. It is therefore in our best interest to drive carefully to avoid accidents on the road. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/12/photos-gov-ikpeazu-rescues-accidents.html

In a time of national economic adversity, Africa’s biggest youth event, The Future Awards bestowed its biggest honour on the 31-year old Anambra State Government Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget Development, Mark Okoye. He is the youngest commissioner and public servant at his level in Nigeria. Okoye brings tenure as a senior member of the investment banking division at Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited where he was instrumental in executing numerous capital raising and financial advisory transactions to his new position. Though enjoying an illustrious secure private sector career, he quit, heeding a personal call to serve. He pitched himself to economic teams of his state government with little initial success. After persevering, he eventually became the Senior Special Assistant on Investments of (former) Governor Peter Obi, Anambra State. He was 26 years old at the time. All this paved the way for his current appointment and tenure as Commissioner. He manages the most critical of ministries in a state with great potential to be a manufacturing behemoth for Nigeria. His role involves him running the day-to-day activities of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget. In addition, he has operational and strategic oversight over Anambra State Investment Promotion & Protection Agency. Under his tutelage, 10,000 jobs have been created in Anambra as a result of investment inflows into key sectors of Anambra’s economy such as Agriculture, Trade & Commerce and Manufacturing. He has been nominated by the Vice President of Nigeria to serve as a Member & South East Geopolitical Zone Representative of the National Economic Council Retreat Implementation Monitoring Committee. He Led investment promotion teams that facilitated the successful launch of numerous Public-Private-Partnership projects in the State. Some of these investments include Coscharis farms – $100m, Lynden Poultry Farms – $40m and Anambra Delfarms Ltd – $60m. He has also introduced monthly performance reviews to monitor the State’s internally generated revenues (IGRs), monitoring state wide initiatives that led to the increase of IGRs from N600m/month to approximately N1.3bn/month in 12 months. He is truly deserving of the topmost honour of Africa’s most prestigious prize for talented, hardworking, high-achieving youth.\ http://www.metronaija.com/2016/12/youngest-commissioner-in-nigeria-mark.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44

Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue on Tuesday, presented the 2017 Appropriation Bill of N163.9 billion to the Benue House of Assembly. Ortom made the presentation on the floor of the house during plenary. The governor said that the Appropriation Bill was christened: “Budget of Rural Transformation’’, stressing that it should be considered a collective vision of a new Benue. He said that out of the total sum, recurrent expenditure was N66.348 billion, while capital expenditure stood at N97.562 billion. The governor said that recurrent expenditure constituted 40 per cent of the entire budget, while capital expenditure constituted 60 per cent. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2016 Appropriation Bill was N150.7 billion. He listed the sources of revenue in which the state hoped to realise the funds from Federal Allocation, Tax, Non-Tax, Aids from donors, Domestic Borrowing among others. He said that in order to make judicious use of the state funds, he had reduced his entitlements and that of his deputy. ‘`I have also reduced overseas travels by all public office holders,’’ he said. The Speaker, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, commended the governor for timely submission of the budget despite several hurdles. Ikyange urged the governor to overhaul the budget process of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), which is usually considered by them as a mere annual ritual. He assured that as soon as the legislators come back from the Christmas break, they would swing into action in order to get the budget passed speedily. Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to postpone the Ondo State gubernatorial election slated for Saturday 26th November, 2016 in the spirit of fairness. The governor said this at the Ekiti State Government House while reacting to Justice Salauwa's Wednesday ruling which ordered INEC to return Eyitayo Jegede’s name as the PDP candidate for the Ondo election. "My opinion, in the spirit of fairness because this fault is from INEC, there were two judgments, the only one INEC was part of was that of Jegede, in a similar situation like the Edo election, there was no basis for INEC's action, for me, it was INEC's deliberate action to undermine this party and the people of Nigeria. So, if INEC will be fair, if Nigerians want the leader that the people of Ondo State wants, they should create this level playing ground and allow a postponement", the governor said. Asked if Justice Abang's ruling has affected negatively the chances of Eyitayo Jegede in the coming election, Fayose said "it is not the best of times for us and it is not the best for Nigerians and the people of Ondo State, it is a major setback which can only be cured by a postponement. This is not an internal crisis of our party, this is the making of INEC and APC led federal government" Commenting on Justice Salauwa's declaration of Eyitayo Jegede as the PDP candidate, governor Fayose said "the court wouldn’t have done otherwise because the truth will always remain the truth, they knew from the beginning and it was a machination against the PDP, we have the charlatans in our party that have colluded with them in their lust to cause disaffection in this party and to cause the party to lose election. "It's unfortunate because INEC ab-initio had no reason to do what they have done. In everything we do in life, the place of God can never be defeated, we will continue to look forward to a Nigeria of our dream, a Nigeria our leaders fought for, the Nigeria that is equitable, a Nigeria where democracy is not muscled, a Nigeria where the constitution is not muscled. "The judgement is a defeat against those who colluded with the charlatans in our party to draw our party backward but the Lord will give us direction as we move forward from here, the whole action is regrettable, what they did remains unfortunate in the annals of history and they will still be defeated". http://www.metronaija.com/2016/11/inec-should-postpone-ondo-election-in.html
