https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5042031/2881665118-w408-h960/Peter-Okoye-Prayers.jpg Psquare’s troubles this year and their subsequent solo movement in opposite directions is the stuff of movies. Prior to 2016, Peter and Paul have been recording and performing exclusively together for over 15 years. They have hit the lofty heights of African entertainment, conquered different markets and become financially successful. But now they have plateaued. It’s normal for people who have conquered every stage of their career and experienced success to plateau. Plateaus have always existed – The Plateau Effect is a force of nature as real and fundamental as gravity. Plateaus, such as the force of acclimation, can be healthy and helpful. But career plateau has a devastating effect. Peter Okoye wanted more for himself and the team, hence his search for new ways of business. Competition is stiff already, and only those who adapt can stand the test of time. Psquare have split, signed different managers for their individual careers, and taken their life in the direction they want as individuals. Paul Okoye chose to remain with Jude, as Peter clearly wanted none of that. Both acts have settled to return as a group and record Psquare songs, but also have the freedom to pursue solo careers and engagements. Paul Okoye has acted true to his image as the ‘saner’ one of the lot. He has launched his record label, signed on two singers – Muno and Lucy, and has gone about business like a pro. Two videos have been shot for Muno, and organic growth has started. For Peter though, it has been the reverse. P-Classic records, his brain child, has been going about their business like a house in disarray. There has been no formal announcement of the record label, no brand introduction, nor press conference to properly intimate the media on their vision and mission. Also, not a lot of press has gone down the line, with Peter Okoye announcing his first artiste in the most simplistic of ways, - social media. For a man whose main grouse for ditching his previous management was that Jude Okoye has failed to be professional in handling the brand, he is towing similar route with nothing professional about the way he is running his personal business. A little slack can be given for it being a fledgling house, but nothing so far has shown or hinted at the possibility of it running like he preached during his quest for freedom. Peter needs to go back and listen to his interviews during his squabbles with Paul and Jude, and learn from that version of himself that wanted change. P-Classic Records need the change, so also does it need that earlier Peter who was fired up. Creating a structure isn’t exactly rocket science. He either employs a manager for the record label, or if he has the capacity, take on the responsibility. He should get an office, hire the required hands, set up a structure to make his business flow smoothly, market the brand, and then the artistes signed on to him. play Music releases should be an event, with plenty of work put into releasing a decent record. He is starting a business, and needs all the press he can get. Interviews and media rounds won’t hurt, neither would press releases. Right now all his label’s work feels like it is hastily cobbled together with decisions made on the spur of the moment. P-Classic, needs professionalism to thrive, and it is Peter Okoye who must provide it. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/05/unprofessionalism-trails-peter-okoyes-p.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Chief Juliana Raimi, the Chairperson, Association of Commodity Market Women and Men of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, says the group will not participate in the NLC strike over the increase in the pump price of petrol. Raimi told newsmen in Ibadan on Sunday after the association’s meeting that the strike was belated and a distraction. “I hope you can see that majority of our traders are not interested in this strike action of the labour union. Why did the labour union wait till now before reacting? “We, the traders, expect the labour leaders to have demonstrated before now, especially when we were buying the petroleum products at much exorbitant prices which made prices of commodities to skyrocket,” she said. She also said that the strike action would increase the hardship the people were facing. ` ` We are urging the labour leaders not to inflict more pains on us by asking us to stay at home again, ‘’ she said. Raimi further advised organised labour to employ other peaceful ways of making government to realise the harsh effects of the hike on the ordinary people. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/05/oyo-market-women-quit-nlc-strike.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday said that the State Government would explore areas of cooperation with Microsoft International especially in the area of improving security in the State as well as the justice sector reforms so as to boost service delivery to the people. Governor Ambode who spoke when the President of Microsoft International, Mr. Jean-Philippe Courtois paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja said his administration would take full advantage of the existing cooperation between the State Government and Microsoft and utilize technology to engender more efficient and prompt service delivery to Lagosians. He said, “I want to let you know that the area that you have spoken about are areas that are of interest to this administration. I am very high on wanting to see major issues that relate to security and judicial sector reforms and again beyond the fact that when you put a whole lot of things in place. “We are also aware that technology will drive us to the point where we really want to make Lagos a globally competitive city and so for Microsoft to come to partner with us is a thing of joy, I want to commend you for making this visit for also opening up to our officials here, that whatever it is that is in the scale of business here that we have taken, this is the time now to take advantage of this particular visit in the areas of judicial sector reforms, safety and other areas of delivering services to our people in a more faster and efficient way.” He said the visit by the Microsoft boss and his team was significant, adding that it had gone a long way to show that Nigeria is still a good location for business and enterprise with Lagos at the heart of it. “Like we said, we need to scale up this relationship and I know that your coming personally is a pointer in that direction. I want to give our commitment to you that whatever it is that we can do together, we would do it, and we would improve on it and also make sure that we deliver it on time so that more people can get our services in a better way and we can become more efficient and we can make the city a more livable city and its only technology that can drive that,” Governor Ambode said. Earlier, Mr. Courtois said he was in Lagos to improve on the existing relationship with the State Government as well as open up other areas for stronger cooperation in the future in several sectors. He listed areas including citizens’ engagement, efficiency and transparency across the Ministries Departments and Agencies, tax collection, judicial as well as security reforms. “I know that you are someone very eager to get the best equipment for police and the people in charge of basically safety, this is one area I would like us to share some best practices we have across the world including the US, Brazil, where we are doing all the work to ensure that people coming for the 2016 Olympics do not worry about security and I think that there is a lot we can share with a very large city like Lagos and hopefully help you achieve some of your goals. “I want to thank you and your team for the partnership and I want you to really get the confirmation at my level that the Company is very committed to support and help you, lending some of those innovations with your organisation,” the Microsoft President said. Umar Aminu Ibrahim shared this opinion on Facebook and itemised 10 things that people would have ascribed to Nigeria if Muhammadu Buhari did not win the presidential election last year. According to Ibrahim, the followings are what he understand as the benefits of Buhari becoming the president of Nigeria. Had it been Buhari did not become president: 1. We will think that by now fuel will be N45 per litre. 2. We will think that by now N1 will be equal to $1. 3. We will think that by now three million jobs would have been created. 4. We will think that by now unemployed youths would have been receiving N5,000 stipends. 5. We will think that by now pupils would have been getting at least a meal(including fruits) in school. 6. We will think that by now Buhari would have made his assets and liabilities public. 7. We will think that by now 720,000 jobs by the 36 states in the federation yearly (20,000 per state) would have been created. 8. We will think that by now there would be permanent peace in the Niger Delta and other conflict prone areas such as Plateau, Taraba, Bauchi, Borno and Abia. 9. We will think that by now the government would have started creating additional middle-class of at least two million new home owners in the first year in government and one million annually thereafter. 10. We will think that by now maternal and children healthcare services would be free. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/05/10-things-that-would-have-happened-if.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, speaking through his counsel, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has accused President Buhari of hindering his bail application. Kanu said Buhari’s comments on his release, has made it difficult to get an unbiased hearing, describing it as prejudicial. The IPOB leader’s lawyer said “The moment the President pronounced to the world that Kanu cannot be granted bail by any court, he made my client a political prisoner, and the media chat inadvertently prejudiced the judge’s mind.” You will recall that Mr. President, during his maiden media chat, referred to Kanu’s case. Also, IPOB has filed an N8.5b suit against the Federal Government. The group is seeking damages from the Nigerian government for allegedly killing over 150 of its members who took part in the Biafran protests that rocked most parts of the South-East. http://www.metronaija.com/2016/05/buhari-behind-my-continued-detention.html cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Luckily, the seven-year old, Chinaza Obidigwu, miraculously escaped death and is now recuperating at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. Chinaza was allegedly shot by a certain Mr. Dom Nduaguba, 72, who was a former United Nations Peace Ambassador. The fired weapon was soon recovered, but there is still an uncertainty surrounding the real shooter, as officers of the Nigerian police from Nnewi division are already hard get te shooter. The suspect, Mr. Dom, who is currently in Police custody, has accused another person, 5-year-old Jacob Nduaguba, of actually doing the shooting. The boy's father, Mr Ifeanyi Okoye, rebutted the accusation, and added: “I was in the neighbourhood when I suddenly heard gun shots, and thereafter, I heard people crying and screaming for help. “So, I rushed to their direction to find Chinaza (the victim) soaked in blood. I immediately joined the mother and some others who were around to carry her to the nearby St Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu. “But because it was a gunshot wound, she was refused treatment. So we had to rush her to Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.” The victim’s father, Mr Tony Obidigwu, when interviewed, confirmed that his daughter had been admitted at the University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. Spotify operates under a freemium business model, with two music streaming tiers: Spotify Free and Spotify Premium. Benefits of the Premium subscription include the removal of advertisements, improved audio quality, and the user can download music to their device for offline listening.
