Omg! Omg!! Omg!!!, you have never read anything like this before. Think Governor Fayose’s response to Fayemi was too harsh? Now this response of APC, Lagos chapter to Chief Bode George, a PDP Chieftain is a ‘killer’. In a very long while, I have not seen any group wash another down like this or an individual to another. Ever played mortal kombat game? Yea, you know that part when you are about to give the last punch or kick and the game says ‘finish him’? well that’s exactly what APC gave Chief Bode George. Giving an intro to do this won’t do the press release any justice. It won’t at all. Btw, I don’t belong to APC, neither do I belong to PDP, and you know very well that, if it was PDP that finished an APC chieftain like this, I will still write it the same way I did. My naughty self just likes to support the winning team whenever there is a battle, lol. We all have our naughty sides. Enjoy… “Bode George is yet to come to terms that it is all over for PDP in Nigeria and Lagos. He is yet to believe that Lagos APC has forcefully retired him from active politics for ever in Nigeria and Lagos State,” APC said in the statement. “Why is Bode George finding it difficult to believe that the game is over for him in Nigerian politics talk less of Lagos State? Who will tell Bode George that nobody takes him serious again in matters of Nigerian politics? Who will persuade Chief Bode George to quit politics now in his own interest?” “What is giving Bode George the courage to believe that President Buhari will probe Asiwaju BAT and Fashola, who are the real drivers of change in Nigeria because a Bode George said so? How can a jail bird who plundered and looted NPA, and who just got pardoned the other day because of 2015 elections forget easily that he is part of the problem of Nigeria and not part of the solution? Did Bode George know that his case at NPA and the fraudulent amnesty granted by the former President may be revisited?” “How can we forget that Chief George imposed Jimi Agbaje on Lagos PDP and caused a big crisis at Oregun Lagos where the Party conducted its primaries? How can we forget that Chief Bode George kept the funds meant for his party campaigns in Lagos knowing fully well that there is no road to where he is going? How can we forget that it was this same Bode George that initiated the political brigandage and ethnic politics we saw in Lagos that nearly caused xenophobic attacks?” “How can an old man who armed thugs all over Lagos with an instruction to kill if necessary in order to steal Lagos be the one that will tell President Buhari what to do? Did Bode George know that President has full knowledge of his dubious activities in Lagos during the campaigns? he quizzed. “Chief Bode George spoke about the cost of projects in Lagos, but the question is this: what does a hut builder know about Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge? What does this carpenter know about gold? What does this failed politician know about good governance and service delivery?” he asked. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/08/you-have-no-stake-in-nigeria-or-lagos.html cc: lalasticlala ishilove |

A suspected thief who was caught stealing a brain box from a car this morning, August 19, was reportedly beaten and set ablaze by an angry mob in Apapa area of Lagos state. The unfortunate incident took place at Isikalu street junction, Olodi-Apapa, when the young man was allegedly caught breaking into a car. According to www.metronaija.com, the thief was nabbed around 4 am by some residents. After beating him thoroughly, he was tied till about 6 am when other residents woke up and met him. The angry mob immediately set him on fire, ignoring suggestions that he should be handed over to the police, with some believing that he would be set free by the law enforcement officers. An eyewitness at the scene said the youth brought used tyres, petrol and a match box with which they used to burn the thief, causing traffic jam in the area. “People in the area are not happy about how the brain boxes of their vehicles usually develop wings overnight. Many vehicles in the area have been vandalised and many of the parts removed,” he said. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old robbery suspect identified as Ahmed Rewanu has alleged that the police arrested him with the aid of charm because he was caught by surprise, with no option for escape. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/08/lagos-mob-sets-car-thief-ablaze.html cc: lalasticlala ishilove |

Are you in the habit of taking “Garri” dry as snacks or with cold water? Do you buy “Garri” that is openly displayed in the market? In a new study, experts have cautioned on increasing intake of such garri, saying it may lead to gastro enteritis, whose main symptom is diarrhoea. In a study on the bacteriological quality of garri sold in Owerri open markets, Imo State, the experts found they had very high bacterial contamination due to exposure in the market and poor handling. The experts, who established the unhygienic status of garri taken as snacks by many Nigerians, tested 110 garri samples that were collected from Eke-ukwu market, relief market, Eke-Mmegbu market, Orji market, IMSU gate market and some local garri processing factories within Oweri metropolis. All garri from the open market had at least 75 per cent contamination with disease-causing germs such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidenmidis, Bacilus cerus, Escherichia coli and Klebsielia aerogenes. However, the garri from the local garri processing factories within Owerri metropolis which served as control for the study had a 20 per cent prevalence contamination level. The 2015 study, in the April edition of the African Journal of Food Sciences was conducted by Egbuobi, R.C; Dike-Ndudim, J.N.; Ojiegbe, G.C.; Okorie, H.M.; Nnodim, J.K.; and Ogamka, A.I., all from the Imo State University, Owerri. They attributed the contamination among other factors to include, dust, and waste products from the environment. Also, the 20 per cent prevalence recorded against the control was attributed to the unskilled nature of the garri producers who introduce contaminants to their products, especially during the cooling and packaging phase of their production. From the result of this study, Staphylococcus spp. (S. epidermidis and S. aureus) had the highest rate of occurrence with a total of 44.7 per cent (37.2 and 7.5 respectively). The researchers, however, said Staphylococcus spp might have found their way into the garri through carriers, since the organisms are found around the nose, throats, hands and clothings of these carriers. The isolation of disease-causing germs such as E. coli and K. aerogenes, they stated was indicative of feacal contamination that was probably from the refuse dumps as well as the stagnant waters from sewages seen around some of these markets. As way out, they urged the establishment of standard garri processing industries that would be managed by trained personnel in food handling to reduce contamination due to poor handling. Also, they stated that environmental sanitation should be taken as a priority project to reduce food-borne disease. “Garri” as popularly known in Nigeria is a staple food for most Nigerians. It is prepared by fermenting grated fresh cassava roots. It could be eaten, by reconstituting with hot water, stirred to form a thick paste and eaten with soup or stew and could be eaten dried or mixed with cold water and sugar- /milk, as a snack. In Nigeria, the sales and distribution of garri in local markets is associated with practice such as displaying of the products in open buckets, bowls and mats at points of sales and the use of bare hands during handling and sales. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/08/drinking-garri-may-lead-to-diarrhoea.html cc: lalasticlala ishilove |

They commenced data gathering on 11th July, 2015 and below are some the interesting highlights of the crowd-sourced accident data: More accidents were observed on Tuesdays and less on weekends in Lagos Third mainland, an 11.8km bridge recorded the highest number of crash over the period Accident rate is high on Lagos routes as well as on inter-city routes Trucks were the major source of accidents in Lagos with about 34 counts Majority of the accidents within Lagos and Inter-city routes occur at day time Accidents related to Commercial buses recorded the highest number of injuries, while accidents related to Trucks recorded the highest number of deaths and second highest injuries. Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo recorded the highest number of fatalities and injuries on their inter-city routes. It would be of high interest to collect data within the cities Men are twice more involved in road accident deaths and injuries than women “Accidents are underreported in Nigeria and we hope to solve this problem. We have a vision to build an accident database that would help visualize, understand, locate and forestall road accidents. The data gathered over our first 4 weeks has proven our course, and shows we are up to a herculean task”, the report said. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/08/road-accidents-in-nigeria-occurred-more.html cc: lalasticlala ishilove |

Prosecutor Jonathan Sharp, said the boy was described by others as "disruptive and a bully" and had taken a dislike to Mr Uzomah in the seven weeks he had worked at the school. "The defendant disliked him, claiming he couldn't teach, and freely referred to him by the epithet beginning with the letter n, including saying it in anger just before he attacked him. Mr Sharp said the boy told a friend the previous day that he was planning to stab a teacher and took a knife with a "substantial blade" into school on June 11, discussing his plans with other pupils. He stabbed Mr Uzomah after a row over his mobile phone, the court was told. Mr Sharp said the boy was described by witnesses as "getting angry, red in the face and putting his head down and muttering the words bastard and n*****". He said: "He approached Mr Uzomah and reached into his pocket but at that point he took out the knife and stabbed Mr Uzomah in the stomach." He added: "Mr Uzomah thought he was going to die. About 20 minutes after the attack, jurors heard, the boy posted a message on Facebook which read: "The motherf***** getin funny so I stick the blade straight in his tummy." Mr Sharp told the court the post received at least 69 "likes". The 11-year sentence is made up of six years in detention with a five-year extended licence period. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/08/bradford-teen-who-stabbed-nigerian.html cc: lalasticlala ishilove |
