Thanks but my car engine is N600k plus?

Seriously I dont have that money now.
What exactly is wrong with your Xterra? Cant the parts be bought, and fixed? Engine swapping depends on the skill of the mechanic, and there is no telling how long it will last.

XTERRA ,run for your life.
It depends on the year of manufacture. Nissan Xterra 2000 to 2003 are great vehicles. The ones with 2-wheel and 4-wheel auxiliary gears are great and rugged!

I used my 2001 Xterra for 9 good years before selling it off. It truly served me well.

But the recent models 2006 upwards..... I don't know much about them. I don't think they are as great or as rugged, as the earlier models.

Wow! I will have to check their profiles and get back to you on this.

This thread actually started as a joint effort by so many people, to highlight the contributions of Yorùbá people in the business and industrial world.

Members of a certain ethnic group, had been throwing lousy taunts, sly innuendos and outright insults, at others by claiming that Yoruba people knew next to nothing about business, and could not lay claim to success in the field.

A number of people saw it as an affront and proceeded to catalogue a list of successful enterprises, owned by Yorùbás, in order to confirm they could hold their own, anywhere within the business circle.

That was what led to this mini- project on Nairaland. It was created by a wondrful omolúabí woman named kn23h .

Both Yoruba indigenes and even non-Yorùbás contributed, in a spirit of camaraderie, fun and diligence. People like totit, Jetleee, wristbangle, Deomelo, okway, EvilMetahuman, Omofunaab2, ODVanguard, oodualover, MasterChen, robotix, hilroy, mercyville, Shukuokukobambi, OkutaNla, Basic123, etc.

But too many forces were opposed to this initiative. Even the owner of Nairaland and its moderators kept banning many of the contributors, each time we stood our ground against the falsehood of other ethnic groups, and their efforts to derail this thread.

Several contributors were vilified and got their accounts banned.

The thread was moved around and buried in some nondescript sections, where many people could not even get access to it.

We had to argue and plead on several occasions, to bring it back to the main section.

Some excellent contributors got discouraged and left. e.g. Deomelo, Dumaknasset, and others I cant even mention.

Even my good friend Laudate, who despite not being from the Southwest is an avid supporter of their efforts, got banned severally, from several days to months.

Anyway, this thread lost its flavour after a while when the main people departed.

I just log back in from time to time, just to check up on things in my friends absence.

Nairaland could have used this thread as a way to foster pride and excellence among different tribes, with different ethnic groups cataloguing the exploits of their own people.

Instead, Nairaland moderators did their best to kill it, and make sure it never served its purpose.

I would love to highlight all the new companies you mentioned, but I am afraid I wouldn't be able to do justice to them, without the support of the solid team, we had in here previously.......

It would take me quite a while to get back on track, and put up the profiles you had earlier highlighted.

Before coming to Nigeria in 2015 to start business, Olusegun Jaji had started Sea Coach in July 2009 in Freetown, within Sierra Leone with one boat.

All he had was a vision to create a "one stop" Airport transfer service (a combination of Boat and shuttle bus ride) to -and-fro from the Lungi international airport in Freetown to other parts of the city.

He teamed up with like-minded investors, and launched the business. Today, it is a success story....

Another young Nigerian has been making waves in the water transportation sector.

Olusegun Jaji saw the potentials in the marine sector, and decided to solve a major logistic challenge on the waterways.

Today, he has built a water taxi business employing over 200 people, in Sierra Leone and Lagos.

In his own words: " I wanted make a change, and to brace the development of water transport, not just in Sierra Leone but in the whole of West Africa."

His water transport service is known as Sea Coach Express Ferry Services, was started in 2015 with 10 boats, but it currently has over 30 brand new boats, in its fleet.

Currently, he is carrying out the acquisition of three brand new ferries with his team. Two of them, would act as a backup vessel, to a bigger one that would be going to Guinea, starting our coastal ferry service. Freetown to Conakry in Guinea.

They are expanding into the coastal market, with a 200-passenger ferry, brand new vessel built an Australian company, that will be delivered in October 2020.

In Epe, on the outskirts of Lagos, Jaji has a factory where he builds boats, known as Sierra Craft Industries.

His firm recently built and supplied ferries to the Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) a few months ago.

Beautiful!! cheesy I pray he succeeds on all fronts. Kunle Afolayan is also an African designer.

He has exhibited his clothes at different fashion shows nationwide.

The 5-time award-winning actor-turned-director, Kunle Afolayan is about to embark on a new career venture. Afolayan who has been immensely acknowledged for his movie, “The Figurine” recently launched his clothing line, Ire Clothings and released “Kunle’s Kembe” as the introductory collection.

“Kunle’s Kembe” is inspired by traditional baggy trousers of the same name, which have featured in many movies showcasing the Yoruba culture; Afolayan wore it to play his role in “October 1”. Since he commercialised them, a few celebrities have been spotted in the trousers.

Even the former governor of Lagos, Adewunmi Ambode has been photographed with a pair of “Kunle’s Kembe”.

This is the mentally that needs to be eroded from us
That is NOT true. There are many jobless masters graduates and Phd holders without jobs.

And getting a government job is very difficult, unless you know people at the top, or you have godfathers and connections to see you through.

Many universities are not accepting fresh Phd as lecturers again, because there is no space to employ them.

Do be careful about making wild allegations.

Oga hedonister, it is quite obvious that you cannot separate Bourdillon Road, from Alexander Avenue and Gerrard Road. You have just lumped all of them together in your pictures and your video.

Coming down Lekki-Ikoyi bridge, you will get to the roundabout. On the right is Gerrard, while the left is Alexander Avenue. Right at the end of Alexander is where Bourdillon Road, starts. In fact, Alexander dovetails into Bourdillon.

So why cant you distinguish between these 3 different roads? Try to do your research properly, next time and don't mislead others.

Most Yoruba business tycoons enjoy federal aid but most Ibos are independent. Moreover Yorubas are socialists in nature, while most ibos are capitalists in nature.
Stop bleating!! This matter has been thrashed, done and dusted in different pages on different threads. Companies were listed, shareholding was analysed, and even revenues were compared.

The number of thriving Yoruba companies, exceeded the Igbo owned ones, in every industry.

So stop rehashing your false propaganda.

In this same Nigeria? Please tell us the names of such universities.

And tell us the year the university was built. It must have been when exchange rate was still 1USD/1NGN.

kikero:
Yes, and they also pay very high taxes there too, as well as run an industrial economy there too.

Denmark has nice free of charge universities. All in return for half your salary in taxes if you are a citizen.

Nigeria is a broke country. Out tax to GDP ratio is too low for what you want
You are comparing Denmark' to Nigeria? Even if you pay all your salary as taxes in Nigeria, it will end up in the politicians pockets or their foreign accounts.

Look at NDDC and all the tales of corruption we keep hearing left, right and centre from government agencies and projects.

All the taxes we have paid, what have they been used for? Most of it ends up in private bank accounts of the rich people in government.

The issue is not how much tax is paid, but how well it is used to carry out projects that are meant to be done.
