pleep: hey C.fours why do woman want to be victims soooo fuckin bad? Don't you realize that if you took accountability and responsibility for yourself and your life there is nothing in your way?I am NOT a victim. I am actually more powerful than u are or will ever be. hence d reason you felt threatened and created this dumb thread. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: What a mixture? I haven't said anything about it being good or bad.speak d truth and it shall set u free. pleep knows himself. that's what he has requested of me to call him. right, unless you also want me to give u a pet name. do you? |
pleep: To far? nope!LOL. u wish. I'm actually very fit. not to toot my horns or anything. my idea of fat is very different from urs, chubby negro monkey. fat to me is after i've eating a huge meal and look bloated. of course it goes away d next day unless right before my period when the body retains water for menstruation. it's called a bloat. some refer to it as PMS (pre/post menstrual syndrome). The beauty of being female. hehn menstrual periods lasts almost a week btw. it involves blood coming out of your orifice for 5-7 days straight. I would say that's a good reason to keep male and female bathrooms separate. besides the nasty and gross sanitary habits of males of course. |
pleep: tryna change the subject?just showing you an example of a scene my husband will feature in. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Feminist and racist? What a mixtureI thought you said racism was ok. since when did u have a problem with racism? |
u wish. This is a fairly common site in Sweden. No, not TJ and I pushing a stroller. But, a father pushing a stroller. When I first arrived here, it was a fairly common and, for me, an odd sight to see so many men pushing strollers. But, not so odd for Sweden |
pleep: this is what feminism has been reduced too whining about "his/her" rofl...little drops of water form a mighty ocean - Feminist grain of wisdom ![]() goodnite, negro monkey. |
I personally will be keeping my last name when I get married. my husband can take my name if he wishes to do so. LOL in addition to using the personal pronoun "their" in my speaking and writing. this thread was useful afterall. it helped me make a decision. hahaha and I hope it does the same for every woman that reads this topic ![]() |
I will have to cease to comment on this dumb thread after seeing this: https://www.nairaland.com/1256721/women-should-submissive-husbands *pinches nose and walks out of the room* ![]() |
CAMEROONPRIDE: You are so disconnected from the reality ,I feel like weeping for u. Do u really think people in Nigeria care about your miss , Mrs etc? Lol keep leaving in your Western world, here. In Africa we have bigger problems.I live in USA. not Nigeria. besides, there are women like yemisi ransom-kuti who are renowned feminists doing radical work to improve the life and status of women in Africa. so what's ur beef. If I find myself living in Africa, it won't do anything to change my views. yea of course the problem is bigger in africa. it's a third world continent for a reason. and middle east too. hmmm...I wonder why. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Blah blah blaaa you're welcome |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Exactly my point languages have been modeled/ through history, this is what make their specificity/"beauty" those pseudo "flaws" make their originalityno one said mrs and miss are derogarory. but the implication is that a woman becomes conscious of her marriage status. with those titles eliminated, women are more liberated and freer from societal pressures. ex. in some work places in USA, the miss/mrs is completely eliminated. "Ms." is used for all women so there is no speculation as to who is married or not, who is higher ranking than another etc. i think language is powerful and can be used in ways that perpetuate sexism. ex. there was a time when a married woman married to Mr. John Smith. will actually be called Mrs. John Smith. her own name completely obliterated!! nowadays in the west, many women are even choosing not to take their husband's last name. clearly there is a reason for that. |
feminists make changes and act to the perpetual annoyance of misogynists who want to preserve and keep the status quo. they r d ones who should go jump off a bridge if they don't like it. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: If you dislike English go and create your languageI love English language. doesn't mean I can't criticize it and do my part to change it. LOL you don't need to tell me what black is in spanish or french. infact, negro is also black in english. but it was used in such a derogatory way that blacks fought against its use!! example of how blacks fought to change the way a word is used in english language. doesn't mean they hate english. but it isn't perfect. and of course it would be impossible to create my own language hence why feminism exist to transform the sexism in society. we won't accept "go and die if you don't like it" NO. that's what feminism is all about duh. we make changes. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: So deeper that you cant give an explanation.I think i've done a lot of explaining on this thread. but like I said, it's much deeper than a single issue. ex. you can't explain racism in just one bullet point. if you could, racism wouldn't exist today because all white would need to say is "what rights do you want" and create a law to give the rights to blacks (they've done that plenty of times). but we all know that racism is much deeper than just asking for a right.it involves changing people's thinking. it's an ideology. sexism is an ideology.racism is an ideology. An ideology is a set of conscious and unconscious ideas that constitute one's goals, expectations, and actions. An ideology is a comprehensive vision, a way of looking at things (compare worldview) as in several philosophical tendencies (see political ideologies), or a set of ideas proposed by the dominant class of a society to all members of this society (a "received consciousness" or product of socialization). Ideologies are systems of abstract thought applied to public matters and thus make this concept central to politics. Implicitly every political or economic tendency entails an ideology whether or not it is propounded as an explicit system of thought. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideology |
I can go on ALL day talking about sexist language conventions. it's a deep issue that's so normalized to the extent that nobody notices it. it just is accepted as the way things are/ should be. and language is just ONE issue out of many. so you can understand what bukatyne means when she says that its an "orientation" thing rather than just a physical oppression or single "rights" issue. it's much deeper than that. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: My point is you are the one who should stop whining there's is no bias in English which can give u sleepless nightshow r u different from all the white folks who claim that there is no such thing as racism just because it doesn't affect their lives. why should Mr refer to all men. whereas women are categorized based on marriage. Miss vs Mrs? at least in some more developed societies, "Ms." is used for all women. ![]() check this out--> http://www.msmagazine.com/ |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Are u for the change of women to womynlol. there is nothing wrong with women. for others who have a problem with it and are acting to make a change, more grease to their elbows. I do see a problem with this sentence though: "I believe it's strictly a matter between the patient and his doctor." why should the default be an assumption that the person is always male? why is this the language convention to make the default personal pronouns male? yea, you should use "their" or "them" in place of "his" or "him" I think that is a better choice. it is neutral. if you want to be a more radical feminist, use "her"! ![]() |
CAMEROONPRIDE: English is not even that biased. Go and try, more widely spoken languages like French, Spanish etc in fact aren't you Yoruba? Tell us about the "bias" in your languagethat's the point. if english isn't "that biased" then I can't stand to think how bad some other languages are. LOL well, I speak english and read and write exclusively in english so i'll focus on english. |
Heneforth, I will make it a point to use the singular "their" in speaking and writing. eff sexist language rules. ![]() see, this is a simple act of feminism that a person can take and encourage and promote. http://www.crossmyt.com/hc/linghebr/austheir.html |
pleep: I guess naming Ships and Countries by feminine pronounes makes boys grow up to hate themselves. They are some languages were half the words are feminine, u need to grow upstop whining like a pig. Every one with at least half a brain or an aota of common sense can see the gender bias in english language. This is NOT even an argument. the question is not if it exists, but how can we do we change it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_neutrality_in_English |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Single motherhood a blessing? You are out of your mindstop twisting my words ![]() I said it can be a blessing in certain aspects. taking extreme poverty out of the question, the kids grow up in a home environment that is not male dominated. it shapes their world view. child rearing is nothing. it's just a job. anyone can clothe, feed a child. it's what they see. the way men and women interact, the way parents express their fears through what they buy the child, the inculcations etc that the kid absorb ideas that will shape her world view. *I used "her" (instead of "he" ) intentionally because this is an example of how children's views are shaped from the moment they learn how to speak and read! this has very little to do with child-rearing (feeding, clothing, nurturing etc) .imagine, it's part of the english language to use male pronouns! this is one way children are unconsciously brought up to diregard women. even girls are brought up in the same way to disregard themselves! |
CAMEROONPRIDE: really?LOL. my family wasn't rich and we had a househelp. every family on my block had one househelp or another. maybe u've never lived in nigeria. househelp is not like in USA where u have to be rich to have one. It could be just a poorer family member or friend's niece in the village that you can bring to the city to help you with domestic chores in exchange for education or food/housing etc. watch Nollywood movies for a better idea. since you are not even nigerian. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: If your son start washing the dishes in his house or is the one who cooks and does the market, you will shout juju, you will talk bad about the woman right?well, you make a good point there. And this is why I think single motherhood can be a blessing. I think children raised in single mother households are less likely to be sexist. even if they are, their sexism has less potency. They experience a family where the woman is the powerful figure. this is one thing that influences the way they will grow up. in fact, I think boys in such families are also more likely to be told to wash dishes and do things that don't fit the gender stereotypes. ex. even though I was partially raised by a househelp, if she asked me to do dishes and I don't want to, I will tell my mom and my mom (who has more power than her) can override her decision. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: We are talking about Africa, bukatyne and you are African. Now who raised those males( African males in our African societies/countries) ? The answer is women/mothers/grandmothers/aunts etc we are raised by you all your wahala simply means you have failed so stop putting the blame on us and start raising your kids/future kids well.In africa, you have many families where servants and househelps are raising the children too. duh so are servants the ones in charge of how a family's children will grow up to be? child-rearing is a job like any other. it involves, clothing, cleaning, feeding, caring, and nurturing. unfortunately, the more important part of inculcating ideology (ie education and brainwashing) is done by men. I personally was partially raised by a househelp. but as a child, I am mostly innocent. my world view forms from experience and exposure to the outside world through books, schools, TV , seeing the way my father treats my mom, etc. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: ^^ who raised those pseudo sexist males?what do u mean by "raised"? and what do u mean by "pseudo sexist"? most white children in the south during slavery were raised (clothed, fed, cleaned, nurtured) by black slaves. and kids grew up to be their masters.ex. the black will be raising a white child and will still have to call a 3 yr old boy "mister" or "master". raising a child can mean many things. it is also one thankless job women are forced to take on but we do anyway out of love. Are you saying that women should start oppressing the children they're raising? The children will grow older and get exposed to society and their eyes will open. the mother or child rearer has no control over that. the master's son will get older and come to realize the power he has over his nanny. childhood is innocent but we are not talking about 3 yr old boys being sexist. your argument isn't making any sense. |
crazy. I saw the pic in the Guinness book of world records few months ago and was just as shocked as u ![]() |
bukatyne: Lol at 'what rights do I want?'GBAM! Totally agree. ex. the english language uses "he," "him" as the standard pronouns or "man" as standard noun to refer to all persons sexism is simply built into the language and attitudes of people. you can see it in other words like witch, bitch etc. Let's not even talk about the bible. LOL like u said, the problem is mostly a mindset/ideology issue. it is a sexist mindset that lead to the oppression of women. just as a racist ideology or mindset lead to oppression of minorities. you can't just point to one single right or oppression because it is very multifaceted and cuts deep into the fabric of society. that's why I support feminism. it's an ideology that counters the prevalent sexist ideology. you can't point a finger at one single issue that feminism stands for because it stands for a plethora of things all having to do with advancing women's position in society! Each woman(or man) can channel his/her feminism or feminist activism in the way that fits with his/her experience. |
CAMEROONPRIDE:what do u mean by "go back to Nigeria"? bakassi people are from bakassi. The land is bakassi and the people are bakassi. duh u badly wanted the land, but u don't want the people that come with the land. rubbish. Cameroon still has to guarantee the fundamental rights of Nigerians, before gaining full control of Bakassi, according to the ICJ verdictand the Green tree agreement that Cameroon signed with Nigeria under the supervision of the United Nations.I wonder why u didn't highlight this important part of the article. Cameroon doesn'have full control of Bakassi until Aug 15. The people are still Nigerians and are no required to pay any taxes until then. When d time comes, and they don't pay, then feel free to create another thread. until then, stop peddling misinformation and lies about bakassi nigerians. |
^who let this monkey out of his cage? |
Pseudoscience is a claim, belief, or practice which is presented as scientific, but does not adhere to a valid scientific method, lacks supporting evidence or plausibility, cannot be reliably tested, or otherwise lacks scientific status.[1] Pseudoscience is often characterized by the use of vague, contradictory, exaggerated or unprovable claims, an over-reliance on confirmation rather than rigorous attempts at refutation, a lack of openness to evaluation by other experts, and a general absence of systematic processes to rationally develop theories. A field, practice, or body of knowledge can reasonably be called pseudoscientific when it is presented as consistent with the norms of scientific research, but it demonstrably fails to meet these norms. Pseudoscientific thinking has been explained in terms of psychology and social psychology. The human proclivity for seeking confirmation rather than refutation (confirmation bias),[73] the tendency to hold comforting beliefs, and the tendency to overgeneralize have been proposed as reasons for the common adherence to pseudoscientific thinking. According to Beyerstein (1991), humans are prone to associations based on resemblances only, and often prone to misattribution in cause-effect thinking.[74] Lindeman states that social motives (i.e., "to comprehend self and the world, to have a sense of control over outcomes, to belong, to find the world benevolent and to maintain one's self-esteem" are often "more easily" fulfilled by pseudoscience than by scientific information. Furthermore, pseudoscientific explanations are generally not analyzed rationally, but instead experientially. Operating within a different set of rules compared to rational thinking, experiential thinking regards an explanation as valid if the explanation is "personally functional, satisfying and sufficient", offering a description of the world that may be more personal than can be provided by science and reducing the amount of potential work involved in understanding complex events and outcomes.[75]In our culture and thinking, people appear to have trouble distinguishing science from pseuodoscience. The prime reason people believe in wishful things is because they want to, it feels good and it is consoling. Many weird beliefs give immediate gratification. Immediate gratification of a person's belief is made a lot easier by simple explanations for an often complicated and contingent world. The scientific and secular systems of morality and meaning are generally unsatisfying to most people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudoscience |
what a buffoon. well, u need to get back into the zoo or forest where u belong. u r not wanted in a civilzed world. monkeys like u keep africa backwards. |
