Nairaland GeneralRe: The Unprofessional-ism Of Nairaland Moderators... by cfours: 4:21am On May 26, 2013
barefootbandit: The most annoying thing is that we have rules to follow, but we have mods like sexhealz and his ''girlfriend'' odudua actvitely breaking them with their huge fonts and rule 2 breaking stunts(so many mods are guilty of the latter). Yet when we break these rules we get banned, by these same mods.
Isn't that an insult to the integrity of nairaland? Isn't that an insult to seun's authority? Can't he even do anything about it? Or is he as weak as our president?
I thought I was the only one who noticed this.
I think the problem is that they post too much. they are very active on NL and there is no way you can be very active on NL without breaking a rule or two at some point. that's just human. and those rules are very black and white with no room for grey areas. imagine ogugua hiding my post for tell her she is sipping on "haterade"
haterade was an offensive word to her. imagine. yet I checked her profile and the first thing I see is her calling someone else a "blind woman"

my advice to them will be to post less and go invisible like Seun and Mukina. they cannot go mingling with regular posters yet at the same time trying to tell us how to behave when they themselves are no different.
PoliticsRe: Eliminating Bigotry From The Politics Section. by cfours: 4:15am On May 26, 2013
ITbomb: Really I ve lost all passion for nl as I watch the veterans reducing their nl activities gradually and secondary school prefects running the hood.
The essence of moderating was prevent a full scale war [of course there must be battles ] while keeping the discussions and arguments interesting .
Of course in political arena , the discussions are often heated and that is the excitement , muscled that excitement and u kill the passion of the politic section.
Moderating would require someone grounded in the flow of political intercourse and not some human spambot who is on a watchout for certain words to hid and ban with no understanding of the flow of discussions/arguments.
Still hanging on while I find footing in the new alternative I discovered.
I agree. it's not as if this is a primary school playground. deleting posts left and right due to big egos unable to handle mere innocuous words.
this has gone beyond the realm of "eliminating bigotry" and is more as if mods are trying to eliminate any form of debate or opposing view points.

maybe nairaland should just scratch the politics section/forum format and make it into a news site instead. no comments allowed. LOL
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by cfours: 3:39am On May 26, 2013
I think moderators (nairaland policemen) are abusing their power. This is a serious complaint.Seun needs to look seriously into this because this will sooner or later become a big problem on NL. I know seun is trying to solve a problem but he maybe unknowingly creating an even bigger problem
I wonder how long it will take for my post to be deleted/hidden.

you can see some of the mindset in the kind of metaphors they use to describe their work.

sexkillz: ^Removed and Jailed. .
jailed here being a metaphor for 'banned'
nothing wrong with that but the atmosphere being created on this site is becoming oppressive. no one is free to air their views anymore. anything is now considered an insult based on moderators' interpretations (or whether they have a personal agenda against you)
Nairaland GeneralRe: The Unprofessional-ism Of Nairaland Moderators... by cfours:
automaticcarzz: It is disheartening that whenever there is an opposing view to what PDP agents post on this forum, the view gets deleted. If someone is insulted by any PDP agent and you respond to it, the moderators delete your post and ban you.
I 100% agree with this. I'v noticed mods ( especially ogugua and sexkills) hiding posts for no other reason than because they disagree with what u have to say or have a personal agenda against u. they display their bullying in the open too. what an affront.
to think that I used to have great respect for them. esp ogugua
PoliticsRe: The Rising International Profile Of Lagos (pics) by cfours: 1:26am On May 26, 2013
TheBookWorm: These pictures are simply amazing!

Lagos has a chance to become an international city just like Hong Kong, Dubai, London and New York City where all nationalities are welcomed.

Eko o ni baje o!
I agree
Nairaland GeneralRe: The Unprofessional-ism Of Nairaland Moderators... by cfours: 1:17am On May 26, 2013
I agree. even the ones I used to respect are very brazen with their show of "power" they make threats up and down. it's getting ridiculous

I think things might be better if moderators were more invisible. ie doing things from the background. Seun and Mukina for example work mostly from the background. YOu don't see them posting up and down on forums flexing muscles or making a show of "i'm better than you" "I can hide your post whenever I want" kind of attitude.

if you give some people power on the forum, why not allow them to work from the background and limit their ability to post regularly/ give opinions on topics? having them giving their opinions on topics and posting like regular members allows them to become power drunk and belittling to regular posters like us.

Uncanny Genius: They were manipulated. Because I wonder why they referred Afghanistan and others as their lands. This ws what happens when a stupid Christian converts to a devilish religion. He becomes worse and worse everyday.
I agree. this has nothing to do with Nigeria. I'm sure their parents (yoruba christians) have nothing to do with it. just bad peer socialization in British society I would say.
very bizarre incident.

Naomi is stunning as usual
PoliticsRe: I Can’t Find Jobs For My Daughters —el-rufai by cfours: 8:35am On May 24, 2013
I literally laughed out loud just from reading the title. hahahaha
he should let his daughters go and look for job for themselves. abi they have masters degrees so they must be at least in their mid-twenties.
so it is only now that he finally realizes that we have a serious problem of unemployment? grin
PoliticsRe: British-born Michael Adeboloja Labelled A Nigerian: Why? by cfours: 8:32am On May 24, 2013
TheBookWorm: That is NOT what I was saying. The animal committed a despicable act.

What gives him the right to take the life of another over some perceived grievance with a government? What him and his accomplice did was PURE EVIL.

And what angers me is that many Nigerians are not condemning the act and are only worried that he is being labeled as someone who is of Nigerian descent.
of course it was evil.
and Nigerians have every right to be worried. if you live in UK as a Nigerian u would be worried too. I worry for innocent Nigerians in the UK who might suffer increased persecution because of this incident.
PoliticsRe: Wole Soyinka's Interview About Chinua Achebe by cfours: 8:27am On May 24, 2013
TheBookWorm: I see you are comparing apples with oranges. If enough people follow you, then you are considered a leader? The answer is yes.

If enough people call you the King of Pop, Queen of Soul, Father of American Literature etc, the title will stick.

The same can be said calling Professor Achebe the "Father of Modern African Literature." I do not know why some people have problem with that title. He seems to be a deserving candidate of such a title. Many of his novels can be found in curriculums across the world. That is a feat that no African author can even dream of.
sometimes the label sticks if someone who is revered gives the label to u.
Elizabeth taylor named MJ 'king of pop'
William Faulkner named Hemingway 'father of american literature'
Nadine Gorimer named Achebe 'father of modern african literature' in 2007
PoliticsRe: British-born Michael Adeboloja Labelled A Nigerian: Why? by cfours: 8:15am On May 24, 2013
TheBookWorm: Well what can you do? The UK or Europe for that matter has never been considered a place that is hospitable for foreigners. When someone who is not native commits a barbaric act such as this, you better be prepared for the blowback, because to be honest, you were never wanted to be in the country in the first place.

It just that some people in the UK government had colonial guilt and that is why there were once favorable policies towards immigrants in the past.
yea ur right. the guy was fighting back against the system.
the system is bigger than him. he should have turned his anger toward something more positive. what a shame.
I just wonder how many people that soldier has killed himself. and who.
PoliticsRe: British-born Michael Adeboloja Labelled A Nigerian: Why? by cfours: 8:09am On May 24, 2013
TheBookWorm: Well maybe it is due to the "Other" factor. The government of the UK is currently having a vigorous debate about immigration.
of course duh! that's the point. the contradictions and hypocrisy.
i'm sure there is no mention of how almost half of all doctors in UK are foreign born. there is a reason they allow immigration in d first place. they need workers and labor.
PoliticsRe: British-born Michael Adeboloja Labelled A Nigerian: Why? by cfours: 7:53am On May 24, 2013
CAMEROONPRIDE: Wasn't late achebe an US citizen?
was Achebe born and raised in US? read the topic before posting.

TheBookWorm: How hard is it for many you to understand that both men who committed this act are British of Nigerian (Yoruba) descent?

That is like saying someone who is British, but of Polish descent or even British of Turkish descent. It doesn't take away that they are British, but it recognized that those individuals cultural or ethnic heritage are found in Nigeria, not Britain.
the point is that they are emphasizing his Nigerian-ness even though he might have never even set foot in Nigeria before.
yet if he had won an olympic gold medal, you won't see them calling him nigerian. they will call him british and hide the nigerian part.
that's the point.
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by cfours: 7:13am On May 24, 2013
Moderators should have limited ability to post/give their opinion on threads. my reason is that moderators are abusing their power and hiding whatever post they feel offends them. this could be very little things like disageeing with a mod and he/she will find something to justify hiding ur post. regular posters do not have this ability.
imagine a mod hid my post just because I called her a hater. yet she has posted similar/worst things to other people ex calling someone a "blind woman". I pointed this out to her and all she could say was "go and become a mod"
basically saying she can do whatever she wants n I should go and become a mod if I want to be able to do the same. why would I want to do that?
Seun, plz look into this

also, have mods names appear in a different color so we can know who they are.
many posts are being hidden unfairly/ with bias
CelebritiesRe: Damilola Adegbite's Birthday Celebration (Pictures) by cfours:
yadi yadi yada. u are the moderator with power to hide posts. if I had the power to hide all the posts that offend me, I would use it too.
anyway no problem. carry go

"haterade" has apparently also become an insultive word now (seeing my 2 hidden posts below). I think moderators should be strictly moderators. they should have limited ability to give their opinion on threads. it's unfair to regular posters who don't have ability to hide posts left and right just because someone's opinion hurt their feeling.
