Keturah Hamilton dumps Jim Iyke, says Jim Iyke’s Unscripted is scripted Jim Iyke’s fiancée says that her stint on his reality show was just an act. The new trend in the Nigerian entertainment industry is reality shows. First it was Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde with Omotola, The Real Me; and now, “Nollywood bad boy,” Jim Iyke, with Jim Iyke Unscripted. Unscripted, which is jointly produced by Africa Magic and Oh Africa TV, premiered on Wednesday, April 17 on DSTV. The first episode, in a stunning climax, featured Jim’s fiancée, Keturah Hamilton, dressing him down for his wandering eye. However, in a strange real-life twist that no one saw coming, Keturah issued a statement via her publicist in which she announced not only the dissolution of her engagement with the actor but also that her behaviour on the show was just Hollywood-level acting. “Keturah Hamilton had acted out an edgy script of jealousy and rage towards Jim Iyke, that was delivered as well as any actress in Hollywood. Keturah was so good that even her fans were astonished to see how well she acted and was able to challenge Jim on his bad behavior. Boldly, Jim gave Keturah the opportunity to exit the reality show based on the controversial episode. Even though a pre-recorded version of “Kiss and Make-up” was on stand-by to be aired, Keturah already had made her decision,” the statement read. Before Keturah’s announcement rumours already had it that Jim Iyke was stepping out with Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buhari. Rumours, which both actors have denied. As for Keturah, according to her publicist, she has since moved on “to bigger and better things.” “I wish Jim well on his show and hope that he matures into the man I always wanted him to be!” Keturah said in the statement. The reality “actress” will now star in a new reality show, Diamonds in the Rough. |
SSS need to go and find something better to do than harassing political movementswhat do u think SSS exists for? Isn't it to destroy illegitimate political movements? i'm curious to know what will happen after the 48 hrs is over? will this be another one of their numerous empty threats? |
gudugudumeje: Things Fall Apart is more successful as a political tool than a literary masterpiece. It's a counter narrative to repudiate the western imperial image of Africa. In the process, the number of barbaric acts found expressed there in the book were what finally attracted the average Western European and Americans to buy the book and get it translated to many languages for keep for and to their next generations. That is in order to prove that Africa is barbaric. WHO NOW IS CHASING WHO?yes, there is an irony there. |
^ aren't u d same person who created a thread a while back claiming that igbo men have small pen.is and not as good in bed as yoruba men. LOL crazy woman |
I understand that but that's just my opinion. I don't consider him to be a great writer. but I can see how minimalism can be the strong point of his writing. |
babyosisi: No school will pick a mediocre book as a required reading text for it students ,I am sure you know that fact alreadyIf you know anything about school systems, you will know that it's all about politics not necessarily quality. maybe u can start by following the evolution/intelligence design debate over what kids should be learning in America also debate on multiculturalism and what books kids should be learning (things fall apart actually belongs in this multiculturalism category). isn't it all politics? You must realize that before Achebe became "popular", Amos Tutuola's "palm wine drinkard" was the most popular book in African literature. Tutuola was the Achebe of a few decades ago. If you read 'Palm wine drinkard' you will bury ur head in shame and wonder if westerners were not intentionally trying to demean us. How could such a simplistic (almost stu.pid) book become so popular and come to represent African literature. well because westerners had an idea in their mind that africans are simplistic. therefore the books they choose to represent Africa always have those elements that conform to the stereotype of primitive simplistic people. U will see that Soyinka compared Achebe's writing to Ernest Hemingway. This is not a compliment if you are familiar with Hemingway. I remember reading Samuel Johnson a while back and wondering wow. what a great writer why isn't this book popular in d west. then I read the introduction to the book and found that it took decades for his book to even see d light of day. london publishing houses did not like it and refused to publish it. yet they publish a farce like "palm wine drinkard." They do d same with latinos too. the latino books assigned for required reading in schools were very simplistic and all about superstitions. All these are meant to place ideas into American kids minds about what other continents are like. And we all know these kids will grow up with those ideas. Another really great sophisticated book I read by Wole Soyinka- Ake. the quality of his work is much better than achebe. that is fact. Of course I respect Achebe, but I think this whole "he deserve Nobel prize" argument is stupid. his work is not that great. but it's definitely easy read for 14yr old students to introduce them to "African writing". Thank God they are not using "palm wine drinkard" anymore. God what an embarrassment. |
d Nobel Prize committee didn't deem Achebe worthy of a prize. what's with all d whining? it's even ironic when u consider why Achebe wrote "Things Fall Apart." Wasn't it in response to Conrad? A very charged book like his fits more in d genre of political "propaganda." in response to babyosisi, d popularity of the book actually owes a ton more to the fact that millions of students are FORCED to read d damn book in high school every year rather than because all those buyers truly wanted to buy d book out of interest. If that makes him king or father of African literature. then so be it. Kim Kardishian (based on popularity) is queen of American entertainment after all... maybe she also deserves Nobel Prize. tons of African writers have better quality works out there if you're looking for good African literature. quantity is not d same as quality. but then again, you don't strike me as someone who reads so d advice may not be useful to u. |
Why did she get a nose job for chrissake? ![]() it makes her look funny. not nice. she used to be better looking. |
he seems fresh and naive. either that or he is just a mouthpiece for British politicians who want to exploit West Africa. UK is in a recession after all. they need all d resources they can. if Nigeria wants UK, we will be d ones standing at their door n knocking not d other way round. but we know better. |
me, I'm just hoping Naomi would go and have kids. she's too gorgeous not to pass those genes down to anyone. but I don't see her getting married though. she has a very strong personality and she's famous. not a lot of men are ok with that. but she's hands-down a very beautiful, strong woman. I love her.. |
her body is just too extreme https://beautifulbrowngirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/pic6.jpg |
MRbrownJAY: @C.four and Stillwaterwell, I never said she was georgie. but if u gave me a choice between georgie and arlenis, I picked gerogie because the comparison to arlenis was just too far off. I just didn't see how anyone would make that connection. here's my post. c.fours: |
this is silly. wasn't this the same idea that united Nigeria against the british? create alliance that u know u will not maintain after u think u got what u want out of it. |
bukatyne:GBAM. this is key. it's a mindframe/mindset problem. Chennai: Your right, thanksno prob. whenever ur on this thread and look at viewers and see d names of cameroonpride, pleep and black kenechi and you're d only female among them. leave d thread immediately. let them have an org.y among themselves because they will start to become very vile and disgusting just the way a gang of rapist might become. |
ogugua88: [size=13pt]I hate to be a spoilsport, but if she wants to make it in Hollywood, she has two choices.are u skinnier than her? she looks perfectly fine to me. besides, Hollywood does not usually cast slim black women. they always use fat black women. even the slim ones are usually told to gain at least 40lbs for film roles. ex Jennifer Hudson etc so she's fine. and if Hollywood ever uses her, there is a high chance they will ask her to gain more weight for the role. |
nice. these women will be able to pay school fees for their children and have better lives. |
i'm going to do myself a favor and log out. these ones are like vultures looking for women to prey on. do urself a favor and also log out. just from seeing the "viewing this topic list" I know they are all here. let them have a orgy fest among themselves. |
Chennai: so some like those stormfront/chimpout clownsexactly. it's going to deegenrate into vile abuse exchanges. I've been there on this thread. so I will advice u to stop now. this dude is beyond redemption. I can bet 1000 bucks that he has raped several women in his life, killed a few and probably raped his mom. he is a misogynist of the first level and u will get to a point where u want to puke just from seeing his post. they started posting pics of roasted burning women at some point. trust me. PRESS THE IGNORE BUTTON ON THE FOOL AND LOG OUT. they are mostly bitter men in denial. stop responding to his posts now. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Chennsi what about females gang raping males in. Zambia?u would not dare make this comment in real life among a group of men and women and u know it. what a coward. what separates you from racist whites who make similar comments to argue for why racism doesn't exist against blacks? those who can only post on youtube comment section and will not dare say those things in real life. u clearly know that you are in d wrong yet u keep arguing blindly. ur comments getting outrageous and overtly misogynistic with each comment. it's getting disgusting. Chennai, I will advice u to just stop arguing with this fool (including pleep). it will only degenerate into disgusting exchanges. I've been there and realized I need to stop responding to their comments. seriously. it's not worth it. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: Lol how many female Nobel prize winners in the West?few as well. keep in mind, wangaari would not have succeeded without support from d west. this was because her country was dependent on the west for aid and she was able to petition western countries to cease aid money to her government for a skyscraper they were planning to build that was detrimental to the environment and lives of women. even today in Africa, you will not see as many women in politics if these weren't mandates from western organizations like UN, millennium goals that promote gender equality. many african presidents are tied by aid money so they are forced to allocate money to things like education for children, proper health care for women and children etc. otherwise, lives of women and children will be much much worse than we have right now in Africa. u have the whole abortion debate with conservative America (mostly associated with men)wanting to control women's wombs these same conservative America fervently opposes world organizations like the UN and organizations like Nobel Prize. |
ideally, society will change its mindset and fully embrace gender equality, but until then, I think ambitious women have a right to fulfill their potential. why should docile women be praised as ideal. while ambitious women are condemned by society and told they are over stepping their bounds? even on NL, when a woman posts in politics section and she is arguing with a male, the oft heard comment is "go away to the romance section where u belong" these r the types of sexist comments that also exist in real life. I am not overly ambitious woman but I am on the side of women who have those qualities because I believe that we need more powerful women in d world. this is my conviction. |
biolabee: This your bolded never ceases to amaze meyea it sounds weird but it's true. unless d husband is supportive and non-sexist then in marriage setting, many potentially powerful women are suppressed. u said urself that wangari had a divorce. but it was inevitable. in d society she lived in kenya, a woman is not supposed to be more powerful than her husband. she had no choice but to leave that marriage because otherwise, she will have to stop her work and she will not be a nobel prize winner today. the first female Nobel Prize winner in the whole of Africa!! |
fellis: Great thread btw, I never knew Waangari was an ecofeministI am exposed to different cultures. In some cultures, children bear their mothers names. In many cultures, the idea of last name doesn't even exist! using last names was brought to Africa by colonial masters. we didn't have any such thing as "last name" before then. there are many women now in the western world who hyphenate their name with their husband and the children inherit a hyphenated name etc. For me, my kids can take their fathers last name I really don't care. Do I like this rule? NO. but sometimes, there is just not much that I can do. ex if I lived in a muslim country, I will have no choice but to follow d rules to wear burqa even though I may not like them. this is why radical feminists are brave. they won't follow the rules. they fight to change it and eventually, when they succeed, it becomes normal for all women to have those rights. we assume that it has always been like that when in reality, someone fought for us to change d rules. ex. things like maternity leave. usually, women would be fired from their jobs when they got pregnant. some feminists fought for women to be able to keep their jobs. -right to vote. also was fought for us by women. - right to attend professional schools (women in d past didn't have right to attend medical school, law school etc) -i'm sure in d future, last name won't be from men anymore. there are women now whose kids take their last names in married setting. they seem weird and radical but it may be d norm in d future. I'm not sure if i'm brave enough to do it but who knows. |
fellis: The fact that some women hold prominient positions doesn't eliminate the issue of gender discrimination.don't mind him. I don't understand if they even believe in their own words when they say that. I mean seriously. imagine he was arguing with me that the bible had gender equality because deborah was a powerful woman. hahaha. one woman among how many men? same in america how some whites argue that racism is over because obama is president. foolish argument if you ask me. |
biolabee: Fair enough..I completely agree with Felis post. Leaders shouldn't be chosen because they are male or because they are from a specific tribe or race etc. Leaders should be chosen for their qualities and skills. you said yourself that ur work should show for you. If you want to be head of the household just because you are male, is that fair to a wife who has more potential or who shows more leadership qualities than her husband? to me, personality is key. many women have great potential to be leaders but our male dominated society supress them and tell them they don't have a right to lead. that is bullsh.it. if your wife is more intelligent than you or have more leadership qualities than you then sorry, she shld be d head of the household. the whole male head of household thing is an artificial rule imposed to keep women down. people use bible as an excuse for why it should be that way but that was over 2000 yrs ago when 6 yr old girls were married off to 30 yr old men. Why should we be applying that rule in d present. and we accuse muslims of marrying girls not realizing that we are even doing worse: treating adult women like little girls by subjecting them to the rule of a husband who is her peer. which is worse? this is why I don't mind single female headed households. I think these women tend to be stronger and able to follow their free will and develop their full leadership potential. why are men so scared of women being who they truly are? |
anyways. i need to go to sleep. |
How old was Mary when she had Jesus? The Virgin Mary was most likely a teen mom, but that wasn’t taboo back then. Life expectancy was 45 to 50 years, and girls were married off as soon as they hit puberty. Some accounts say that Mary, a Jewish woman from Nazareth, may have been as young as 12. But the web site biblelessons4kidz.com puts her age at 14 or 15. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/old-mary-jesus-answers-burning-christmas-questions-article-1.996294#ixzz2TRR9jh3b Mary was a young girl, probably only about 12 or 13 years old when the angel Gabriel came to her. She had recently become engaged to a carpenter named Joseph. Mary was an ordinary Jewish girl, looking forward to marriage. Suddenly her life would forever be changed. http://christianity.about.com/od/newtestamentpeople/p/marymotherjesus.htm --- this will be seen as child abuse in today's world. but was ok 2000 yrs ago when Jesus was born. 12 yr old getting married to a grown man. when u say wives should be submissive according to d bible. in reality, the bible is most likely talking about girls being submissive to men old enough to be their dads probably. i'm sure u would want ur daughter to be submissive to you. lol and you would be responsible for being a loving father to ur daughter in return. |
biolabee: Haba cfour.. I cook and clean the home. I contribute actively to child care even of kids that are not mine so how is that a big deal in africawell, I don't live in Nigeria. so maybe i'm watching too many nollywood movies then. good for u and ur peers. that's great. my dad cooks once in a while but my mom does 80% of d domestic chores including catering to the kids. although they both work 50% 50%. so technically my mom is doing more work overall and it shows because she's more tired at the end of d day. i see d same in most african families. it's an uneven arrangement. maybe it's just my family and the african families around me then. well, I don't believe in submission from the woman. I think of marriage in terms of personality. some men have dominant personality. some women have dominant personality. this is what determines the marriage dynamic in most cases. u can't cheat nature. if a woman is just naturally dominant, why try to control her and force her to act submissive. same goes with men who are just naturally beta. things will run better if the woman is allowed to take charge if she's more effective at it. that's my own. people should pair based on personality fit. most families run this way actually. although societal pressures can force things to change or even influence people's personalities. many men that rape i'm sure probably feel that they are able to do so because they believe it's women role to be "submissive" or men's role to be domineering. I think both man and wife have equal responsibility to love each other. the bible was written in days when girls were married off to much older men sometimes old enough to be their fathers. I think that's where the "man love ur wife" "woman be submissive to ur husband" idea comes from. if a 15 yr old girl is marrying a 35 yr old man. u can see how this will make sense.we all know today that wives are not children or property. they are similar in age/peers with their husbands generally. so different rules should apply. they should love each other equally and respect each other equally. |
