Christianity EtcRe: Inviting Tithers To A Theological Discuss with Miwerds and Candour On Tithing by chagga(m): 9:27pm On Dec 15, 2013
“I Pay My Tithes After All
My Robbery Operations”
– Armed Robber
Confesses
A 24-year old armed robbery
suspect, Mr. Tajudeen
Onifara has revealed the
secret behind his success in
the underworld for nine
years during which he
robbed many people of their
money and other
possessions.
He confessed to the police
that he was dutifully paying
his tithe to his church, Christ
Living Ministry, Lagos Island,
as commanded in the Bible
after every successful
robbery operation in Lagos,
western Nigeria.
Onifara was arrested in a
hotel with his girlfriend by
men of the anti-robbery
squad of the state police
command after nine years of
robbing people.
The father of two said he
paid his tithe regularly
because he believed that as
a Christian God always bless
a faithful tither.
He disclosed that after
every successful operation,
he would remove 10
percent of the money he
stole from people and pay
as tithe to church.
Onifara attributed his
success in crime for nine
years to the fact that he
paid his tithe regularly as
commanded by God in
Malachi chapter 3 verse 10
and 11. The verses, he said,
mandated Christians to give
10 percent of their earnings
as tithe to the church.
He said he started stealing
at the age of 15 and
specialised in robbing
customers of banks with
locally made cut-to-size
pistol before he graduated
to a big time armed robber.
He said his major
breakthrough in the
underworld occurred when
he robbed a woman who
withdrew N2m from a bank
in Lagos.
He said she was about
entering her car when he
accosted her and pointed a
toy gun at her. The woman
quickly surrendered the
money to him.
“I pretended as if I wanted
to assist her. She did not
know that I was an armed
robber and when we got to
where she parked her car, I
pointed a gun at her and
she quietly handed the
money to me. After
snatching the money I
escaped on a bike with my
friend,” he stated.
He disclosed that he used
part of the money to buy a
sophisticated weapon after
removing his tithe.
On what he did with all the
money he stole over the
years, he explained that he
used the money to enrol his
children in one of the best
schools in Lagos and opened
a supermarket at Idumagbo
on Lagos Island.
He added that he used a
substantial part of the
money to take care of
himself and his girlfriends.
On how he was arrested, he
said he was having fun with
his girlfriend in Ibadan at a
popular hotel when SARS
men arrested him.
When asked how he felt
now that he was arrested,
he replied: “I know that
robbery is a serious and
risky ‘business’ that can cut
short one’s life. If I am given
another chance, I will
abandon it and engage in a
legitimate business.”
Police sources said Onifara
who is now in custody at
SARS will soon be charged
to court

Celebrities“I Will Soon Be Greater Than Nelson Mandela-kanye West. by chagga(op): 10:56pm On Dec 07, 2013
“I Will Soon Be Greater Than
Nelson Mandela, I’m Already
Worshiped Around The World"
- Kanye West
Kanye is back again and i
think something is definitely
wrong with him. In this
ridiculous interview with WGCI
radio in Chicago, the
notoriously self-promoting
rapper said that yesterday’s
death of the 95-year-old South
African leader will finally allow
people to focus more of their
attention on West’s own
accomplishments.
In the studio to promote his
new music video Bound 2, the
conversation soon turned to
the day’s biggest news out of
South Africa. West was asked
who he thought on the world
stage today could possibly
replace Nelson Mandela in
terms of leadership, and his
unconventional answer left
heads spinning. “I am the next
Nelson Mandela,” West
responded.
“I’m only 36 years old, and
when I look at everything
I’ve accomplished, it’s the
only comparison that makes
any sense. By the time I’m
95, I’m going to be a bigger
hero than he ever was.
“Nelson Mandela did a lot of
good work, don’t get me
wrong. But I think I’m on
track to do something even
bigger. I liberate minds with
my music. That’s more
important than liberating a
few people from apartheid
or whatever. “Not to say
Mandela wasn’t for real. I
have mad respect. I just
think we need to keep
things in perspective here.
Anyone can be replaced.
And I think I’m well on my
way towards being the next
great black leader. I’m
already worshiped around
the world. And there’s more
to come.”
PoliticsPDP Congratulates APC Over Merger With G7 Governors by chagga(op): 8:06pm On Nov 28, 2013
The Peoples Democratic Party
on Thursday congratulated the
All Progressives Congress on
the purported defection of five
PDP governors to its fold.
Mr Olisa Metuh, National
Publicity Secretary of the
party, in a statement in Abuja,
said that the PDP was not
perturbed by the
development.
“As for the All Progressive
Congress, we congratulate
them on their new entrants.
“We also like to recommend to
them that a man who brings
home ant-infested maggots
should not complain if he is
visited by lizards.
“The PDP is losing no sleep
with this cross carpeting
because disloyalty is a habit.
“It’s only a matter of time
before men who are disloyal to
their mother would become
disloyal to their step mother. ”
Metuh said.
He said that the Baraje-led
PDP splinter group, which the
defected governors belonged,
was not recognised by law and
could not merge with the APC
as was being reported.
“Our attention has been drawn
to reports from some persons
passing off the cross carpeting
of a group of former PDP
members to the APC as a
merger.
“This information is false and
is intended to mislead the
public.”
The party spokesman said that
what happened between the
group and the APC on Nov. 26,
was not a merger.
According to him, you can only
talk of a merger where there
are two distinct parties.
He added that in the case of
the splinter group and APC,
there was only one party – the
APC and the splinter group,
otherwise known as the new
PDP, which was never a
political party. This, he said,
was established on Oct. 10 by
a court ruling.
According to him, the
Independent National Electoral
Commission has written to the
splinter group that the Alhaji
Bamanga Turkur-led PDP was
the only recognised party by
that name.
“From the above, it is quite
clear that there hasn’t been a
merger but an opportunistic
cross carpeting of disloyal
elements into the APC.”
He added that the fact that
President Goodluck Jonathan
agreed to dialogue with the
splinter group was out of
magnanimity and his large
heart as a leader, not because
they were recognised by the
law.
This, he noted, had been
demonstrated severally by the
President as an epitome of
humility and a father to all PDP
members and Nigerians
generally.
Metuh, however, said that
those who associated with the
PDP splinter group were
“motivated by blind ambition
and vain glory’’.
Metuh said that PDP was not
diminished because of the
departure of the people: “We
would like to draw attention to
the fact that a tree that has
been pruned of its under
performing branches grows
better and blossoms with new
life.
“This is the case in biology as
well as in politics.’’
The News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) reports that five
governors of the PDP defected
to the APC on Nov. 26.
They took the decision after a
meeting between the Baraje-
ledPDP splinter group and the
APC leadership in Abuja.
The group announced its
intension to join the APC in a
communiqué jointly signed by
Alhaji Abubakar Baraje,
leaders of the splinter group
and Chief Bisi Akande, APC

PoliticsAmaechi, Rivers State And The Mockery Of The Nigerian Constitu by chagga(op): 8:52pm On Nov 23, 2013
A little over three months ago,
the erstwhile Chief Judge of
Rivers State retired from
office, and with that simple
action, the judiciary of the
state was launched into what
has become a mockery of the
Constitution of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria. Worse
still, this mockery of the CFRN
has been compounded by a
seeming conspiracy of silence
on the part of the National
Judicial Council (NJC), the
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)
and the entire judiciary of
Rivers State.
Central to this issue is the
governor of Rivers State, Mr
Rotimi Amaechi, who has
demonstrated a willingness to
tackle any opposition to his
government at whatever
costs. While this attitude is
commendable in some
situations (especially when the
governor faces injustice from
the federal government), its
extension into the affairs of
the judiciary has resulted into
a gross constitutional violation,
and disregard for the rule of
law, which the Nigerian press
and the general public are
oblivious to.
Unfortunately, the major voice
that has raised concern over
this issue have been Mr
Amaechi’s opposition; leading
to a general disregard of the
alarms as the usual political
mudslinging. However, the
danger posed by the Rivers
State government to the CFRN
is real, and now is the time for
the rest of the country to sit
up and take notice.
The Nigerian constitution
guarantees three arms of
government at the federal and
state level: an executive, a
legislature and a judiciary, as
a system of checks and
balances to ensure that one
arm does not have a
stranglehold on the others. In
Rivers State today, there is,
effectively only one arm of
government. You may recall
that the National Assembly
disbanded the House of
Assembly of Rivers State
earlier in the year. With the
retirement of the head of the
state judiciary, the judiciary
was effectively suspended as
well, leaving the state in firm
control of the executive.
The Constitution, however,
does not permit a vacancy in
the office of the Chief Judge.
Accordingly, prior to the
retirement of the last CJ, the
NJC had recommended the
next person to head the
judiciary to the Governor of
the state, subject to
confirmation by the state
legislature, or in this case, the
national legislature.
However, Mr Amaechi, by
accident or by design, delayed
in submitting the name of the
recommended candidate to
the national legislature before
the retirement of the then
outgoing CJ. This delay by the
governor resulted in a vacancy
that prompted the necessity
of invoking s.271 (4) of the
constitution. The section
states simply that, in the case
of a vacancy, the most senior
judge of the “high court of the
state” should be appointed in
an acting capacity for a period
of three months after which
the appointment will cease to
have effect.
From the court records and
the courtroom rosters, the
most senior judge of the high
court at that critical point
happened to be the same
person recommended by the
NJC as the substantive CJ.
However, contrary to all
legitimate expectations, the
governor chose to interpret
that provision as the “most
senior judge in the state”
therefore allowing him to bring
in another judge from outside
the high court. We are allowed
to be generous and give the
governor the benefit of the
doubt on this point. However,
subsequent events indicate
that the governor acted in bad
faith.
After the swearing-in of the
acting CJ, the governor’s office
released a statement in which
the governor promised to
submit the name of the
recommended candidate to
the national assembly as soon
as the legislature was back in
session. The governor also
acknowledged the temporary
nature of the appointment.
This was over three months
ago. The national legislature
has long returned from recess,
but the governor has made no
moves to continue with the
constitutional process of
appointing a CJ for the state.
An omission that indicates
some ulterior factor on the
part of the governor.
According to the CFRN, the
appointment of the acting CJ
on Tuesday, August 20, 2013
ceased to have effect on
Wednesday, November 20,
2013. Constitutionally, the
governor should swear in the
next most senior judge of the
state in an acting capacity, or
appoint the substantive
person recommended by the
CJ. But that is, if the governor
of Rivers State considers
himself subject to the
constitution of Nigeria.
Apparently, this is not the
case, and Mr Amaechi is above
the fundamental law. As at
today, despite the expiration
of the tenure, the
controversial appointee of the
governor is still exercising the
powers of acting chief judge of
the state. The name of the
substantive appointee
recommended by the NJC has
not been forwarded to the
national assembly, and there
is no legislature in the state to
call the governor to order. In
short, Mr Amaechi now runs all
three arms of government in
Rivers State.
Whatever the politics of the
state, or of the governor may
be, the rule of law is
sacrosanct to a democracy.
This has nothing to do with the
PDP or the APC. It has nothing
to do with Mr Amaechi or Mr
Jonathan. It has to do with the
rule of law. And a disregard for
the rule of law should be
challenged, no matter where it
comes up, and no matter the
politics of the person involved.
What is more surprising,
however, is that the guardians
of the Nigerian legal system:
the NBA, especially the Port
Harcourt branch, and
ultimately, the entire
judiciary, represented by the
NJC have kept quiet about
these events.
Answers are required. Why is
there no substantive CJ in
Rivers State? Why is the
acting CJ of the state in office
beyond three months? Why
are the NBA and the NJC
complicit by their silence on
these events? Is the
Constitution of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria still
relevant? A fundamental
breach of the constitution is
no laughing matter. It is as
serious as a military coup. Yet,
the lawyers and the judiciary
are content to allow it pass.
This is no longer an issue
about Rivers State and its
politics. It is an issue that
concerns every right thinking
Nigerian. If the President, or
another governor, replicates
the events in the Rivers State
judiciary, then we are well on
our way to democratic chaos.
Now is the time for the NBA
and the NJC to safeguard the
constitution. Now is the time
for someone to do something.

Music/RadioBrymo To Pay N22M Or Remain At Chocolate City Till 2016 by chagga(op): 12:00pm On Oct 25, 2013
Contrary to the news circulating in the early hours of today that Chocolate City didn’t get an injunction against Brymo’s Merchants, Dealers and Slaves album and also stopping him from further recording tracks that might be released to be promoted.

Brymo said and I quote – “Pls disregard any news about an injunction on my new album M,D&S, it’s all untrue.. Just a ploy to disrupt my release as usual..”

A source at the Chocolate City re-affirmed that there is indeed an injunction against Brymo and any plan he has till he fulfills his contract with Choc city. Our source also told NaijaMp3s that Brymo has 2 albums left in his contract with Chocolate City which expires in 2016.

Brymo has been served the injunction notice and he is now wanted by the court for compromising his contract with the recording company.

The law firm consulting for Chocolate City have also included a buyout clause for Brymo which is set at 22 Million Naira. Brymo has been asked to play out his contract with Choc city or simple just activate the buyout clause of 22million Naira which was also confirmed by our source at chocolate city who confirms Choc city boss, Audu agreed to, in order to resolve the issue.

When we asked our source why Jesse Jagz wasn’t served an injunction when he released his “Thine kingdom Come” album was released; NaijaMp3s was told that Jesse’s contract with Chocolate city was over and it was easy for Jesse Jagz to quit the label without any problem.

It should be recalled that during Brymo’s press conference he told reporters that his lawyers couldn’t get him out of the problem he was in with Chocolate city and that was why he had to come out to the public.

We hope this doesn’t get escalated than it already has and hopefully Chocolate City and Brymo would settle their differences so we can all enjoy good music that Brymo provides us with.

Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by chagga(m): 6:11pm On Oct 21, 2013
The Value of God
on may 12, 2013 at 12:20 am in article of faith
By  Femi Aribisala
Is God only worthy of a tithe of our income?
David says: “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1).  How then can we insist only a tithe of our income belongs to God?  God does not only own ten percent of our possessions, he owns everything we have.  As a matter of fact, we belong to the Lord, even as he also belongs to us.  Thus, Jeremiah declares: “The LORD is (our) portion.” (Lamentation 3:24).
Jesus says: “Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:33).  Therefore, a “tither” cannot be a disciple of Christ.  I used to pay tithes.  But when I finally grasped the full import of Jesus’ message, I concluded that giving only a tithe of my income for kingdom purposes is grossly inadequate.  Some of us should give nothing less than eighty percent because we are very rich.  God can even require that we give our entire monthly salary on occasion; after all he owns all we have.  But giving to God should not be confused with giving to a church.
Precious God
What is God worth to us?  Is he only worthy of a tithe of our income?  Every Christian should be allowed to determine this for himself.  Institutionalised tithing limits the generosity of a believer.  Once we give ten percent, we believe we have fulfilled all righteousness.  But this limitation is short-sighted.  Jesus says: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38).  Therefore, don’t use the measure of a delimited tithe.
The truth is that pastors have little faith in Christians.  We are convinced they would never give out of their own volition.  So we lay down the Law of Moses and threaten those who disobey with the disdain of heaven.  Thereby, we nullify the faith of our parishioners by making them give out of compulsion.  But our God is a God of free will.
That was the error of Moses.  He was convinced the Israelites were a wicked people.  So he thought it would be unwise to tell them God is against divorce because they would still not be able to obey.  Moses decided the best he could do was to limit the propensity to divorce by regulating it and by laying down certain procedures that must be followed before a man could divorce his wife.  In the process, he ended up by legitimising divorce and, thereby, misrepresenting God.
Jesus was quick to correct this error.  He says to the Jews: “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.” (Matthew 19:8-9).  Therefore, don’t accept the indictment of money-grubbing pastors that you won’t give unless cajoled, and then would only give a tithe.
Self-serving theology
Bolaji Ogundimu was distraught.  She asked her good friend for financial assistance and she refused even though she had the money.  She told Bolaji the money with her was earmarked for her tithe.  God forbid her tithe should be used to help someone in need.  According to the brainwashing she had received, her tithe must only be handed over to her pastor; otherwise it would be nullified.  Little did she know that her pastor, in his greed for her money, had made her into a bad Samaritan.
Pastors who insist you must bring your tithe to their churches are only interested in your money.  Never believe any man who preaches anything beneficial to him directly or indirectly.  If he preaches the righteousness of giving, listen to him only up to that point where he tells you to bring the money to him or to his church.
If he is really interested in teaching the way of righteousness, he should encourage you to give the money to other institutions apart from the one he is involved in.  Let him tell you to give the money to the orphanage, and his message is thereby purified.  But once he passes the basket round after such a message, his motives immediately become suspect.
Don’t fall for the trick where a special guest to your church is the one encouraging you to give to your church.  It is also conventional for him to say it is necessary for you to “bless” your pastor.  This is a game of deception played by pastors.  I ask people to give to you when I come to your church, and you tell people to give to me when you come to mine.
Looking unto Jesus
Jesus must, in all cases, be our example.  When he preached the gospel to the chief young ruler, he said to him: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor.” (Matthew 19:21).  He did not tell him to bring the money to him or to his church.  Why must the money only be brought to the pastor or to his church?  The righteousness is not tied to the church but to the giver.  The righteousness is not sown in the church but in the believer’s heart.
There is no spiritual benefit in receiving money.  But there is great benefit in giving to others.  Irrespective of the amount, the money we give can never make a real difference in the true lives of the recipients.  However, when we give, it makes a difference in our lives.  Giving may not change the receiver, but it often changes the giver because it works on our heart.  The foundation of giving is love, compassion, mercy and faith.  Therefore, giving produces in us the fruit of righteousness which is pleasant to God.
Don’t believe the lie of pastors that by giving to your church you are giving to God.  The kingdom of God has nothing to do with pastors or with local churches.  Jesus told the Samaritan woman: “Believe me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.” (John 4:21).  The hour has already come.  God is not worshipped in local churches.  He is worshipped in our heart-of-hearts.  The true church of Christ is not a building but a people.
Cathedral Builders
Tithes are often used to build the kingdoms of pastors as opposed to the kingdom of God.  They are used to finance the pastor’s sometimes lavish lifestyle; to build huge mausoleums to the pastor’s glory; to buy airplanes which most church-members cannot fly in; establish schools and universities which poor church-members cannot afford; or establish banks which only benefit the rich.
But the kingdom of God is about giving to the poor, the widows, the orphans and the stranger.  These are the true representatives of God.  Jesus says: “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40).  In the churches, pastors are not the least but the greatest.

Romance7 Conversations That Kill Your First Date by chagga(op): 2:16pm On Oct 21, 2013
1.That Crazy Animal Lady

I love animals as much as the next man but when she talks and talks and talks and talks about her love for animals on the first date, get ready to turn into a fly and fly the hell away. We respect her love for our four-legged friends, but when she talks about nothing but her love for the four-legged pals, then there’s a problem, guys. Who knows, this one could be the crazy cat/dog lady who sees nothing beyond fur, meows and barks… and not in the way we like it!

2.The Overly Religious One

Oh God almighty! If she rants about religion and religion alone, we’re left wondering if this is an indirect way of her telling us to behave. Personal beliefs or not, none of us want a lecture on the big man above watching over us all. Besides, I’m wondering if she’ll expect me to worship at her altar at home every time I visit. A bit of a stretch? Maybe? But hey, a religious conversation on a first date is a bit of a stretch too, don’t you think?

3.The Bigot

Okay, so this one may possibly get stoned and if you’re with her, you will get stoned too. I’m all for light-hearted mockery and the one-off joke on a particular religion and/or race, however, if she leans towards open prejudice, that’s a red signal right there. Besides, if she is a bigot, it could be just the tip of the iceberg; an iceberg you want to get away from as soon as possible!

4.The Sex Talker

Sex talk is great – but sex talk on a first date? That’s questionable. Most guys will probably jump at this, but if she’s open to talking about sex, preferences, likes and dislikes on your first date, you can be sure that there’s nothing this girl won’t like! Run, run a mile in the opposite direction because this one will be open to just about anything (no pun intended).

5.The Book Hater

We get it, women come with their own likes and dislikes. But one who openly admits to hating books is someone who is blasé about her lack of intellect. To make things worse, this is your first date. And if she’s so blasé about her lack of intellect, no one wants to know what else she’s blasé about! Additionally, if you take her to social gatherings, there’s no telling what her loose tongue might say there! And this is something you really don’t want to find out.

6.The Teen Vocabulary Lover

So “like” you ride a bike? So “like” you travel? “Yo”, how you doin’, yo? Render yourself deaf if your date is stuck in her teens. The ’90s belonged to the last millennium and if your date is stuck there, it’s time to leave her there and get the hell out, yo!

7.The Ex Obsessed

ALARM BELL, RED FLAG, and all the other little indicators that tell you to get on your high horse and gallop away. If your date talks about her ex-boyfriend on your first date, you can be sure that she isn’t over him just yet. In fact, she’s possibly wondering if they can get back together. Besides, if a woman talks about her ex on the first date, she’s not just needy, she’s stupid. You’re not one of her gal pals, you’re her date and she ought to treat you like her date. If she’s bringing out the tissues over her ex, take an ex-press route out.

IslamGroups Decry Marginalization Of Muslims In Recruitment Into NDA by chagga(op): 10:34pm On Oct 13, 2013
The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) and the Council of Imams and Ulama (CIU) in Kaduna State have raised the alarm over what they called continuous lopsidedness and marginalization of Muslims in the recruitment of applicants into the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
The two bodies presented their positions at a joint press briefing organized by the SCSN Chairman, Sheik Zubairu Surajo and the CIU Chairman, Sheik Usman Abubakar Babantine in Kaduna yesterday in apparent response to the recent publication of 65th regular intake recruits into the NDA.
“The recent recruitment of cadets into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in the Daily Trust of 23rd August, 2013 was a shocking and unbelievable trend that no responsible community will accept that. The result clearly shows that Muslims of Nigeria were systematically marginalized, a plan we foreseen intends to gradually get rid of our Muslims youth from the Armed Forces and other security agencies in Nigeria.

“This continuous lopsidedness and marginalization despite the greater number of Muslim in Nigeria in favour of minorities will no longer be accepted henceforth. The Muslims in Kaduna State in particular deserve an explanation on why out of the eleven candidates enroll into NDA this year only two Muslims were admitted,” they said.

The SCSN and CIU tasked the NDA headquarters and other agencies saddled with the responsibility of recruitment on the need to ensure justice and immediately rectify the situation, adding that “we are also calling on the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency examine the recent result of the newly admitted cadet into the NDA and similar institutions with a view to ensuring justice to all.”

On the recurrent crises in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Muslim groups maintained that the failure of past administrations in the state to apprehend and prosecute criminal elements in Kafanchan, Zonkwa and Zangon Kataf all in the southern parts of the state gave rise to the continuous despicable activities in the area.

They also pointed out that Muslims in Kaduna State had sacrificed a lot since 1987, saying that “the victims are still taking refuge at the Muslim hajj camp Mando, Kaduna and many other places. The state government should intensify efforts to resettle and rehabilitate the victims without further delay.”

PoliticsFCTA To Construct New Abuja City Gate At N64bn...what A Wasteful Venture! by chagga(op): 12:21pm On Oct 12, 2013
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Friday said it would soon embark on the construction of a new city gate, to cost N64 billion.
=====================
Imagine this wasteful venture! And yet they can't pay ASUU 89 billion. Nigeria I hail thee!
=====================

The Director, Public Building of the FCTA, Mr Bernard Lot, who made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Abuja said the gate, would serve as a symbol of cultural heritage for the nation’s capital.
Lot said that the gate, to be located at Kuje Junction on airport road, would replace the existing one close to the National Stadium.
He said the new gate which would be designed to have the Northern, Southern and Central axis of the country was expected to be executed through Public Private Partnership.
“The Central axis will have pedestrian bridges; the Northern axis would have conference rooms, parade ground, botanical garden, five star hotel and hospital among others.
“The Northern axis would also serve as a place where a new president would be given key to enter the city.

“The Southern axis of the project, to be sited close to the Centenary City, will be used for commercial activities, such as shopping, amphitheatre, among others.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, during his 2012 media tour, had said the project was meant to restore the city’s original master plan.
The minister said the old city gate was wrongly located, adding that the project would also serve as a tourist attraction.
He said that the project would also have social and economic significance to FCT residents and visitors to the city. (NAN). https://www.causes.com/causes/298145-for-a-corruption-free-nigeria/updates/833128-fcta-to-construct-new-abuja-city-gate-at-n64bn-what-a-wasteful-venture
CrimeMolester Faints After Hearing Of Victim's HIV Status by chagga(op): 10:09pm On Sep 02, 2013
A rapist who was put behind bars today faces an agonising wait to find out if he has caught HIV from his victim.

Richard Thomas, 27, collapsed when police informed him about the woman’s medical status and is still waiting to hear if he has contracted the incurable virus.

Thomas, of Leigh in Greater Manchester, knew the woman and was aware that she has another illness but had not known about the HIV. The court heard he was shocked when he was told and asked to be taken to hospital, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

Torment: A rapist recently jailed at Liverpool Crown Court will have to wait until Friday to find out if he has caught HIV from his victim
He had let himself into her home in the middle of the night and she awoke to find him raping her.

‘She froze and no words were exchanged. He pulled up his shorts and left,’ said Harry Pepper, prosecuting.

‘He was arrested and interviewed and said he had been drinking heavily, taken cocaine and ecstasy and could not recall the incident,’ he added.

His barrister, Virginia Hayton, said that he still cannot recall the attack but when told about it he said that the woman ‘would not lie, she tells the truth. If she says I have done it, I have done it’.

Jailing Thomas for five years and four months Judge Mark Brown said that he had committed ‘this dreadful offence’ while she lay asleep, having taken a sleeping tablet, and it had left her distressed and anxious.

He also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Thomas pleaded guilty to raping the woman on July 20 this year.

Miss Hayton said that Thomas, who has previous convictions but none for sexual offences, is ‘remorseful’ and ‘cannot understand why he did it and it is troubling him’.

She said that he started using cannabis at the age of nine, drinking heavily at the age of 11, became addicted to ecstasy and cocaine at 13 and was put in care the following year.

He has been trying to contact his family but they want nothing to do with him and he will now be away from his partner and their young daughter and his two other older daughters from previous relationships.

Miss Hayton told the court that Thomas will not find out the result of his HIV test until Friday and has had the worry of the outcome hanging over him.

‘It is his own fault, if he had not committed this offence he would not have placed himself in this position.’

Not in my church! Pastor refuses to perform ceremony because of bride’s ‘sexy dress’ (PICTURED)
Posted by Y! Staff Contributor

This is the picture sent to AmericaPreachers.com of the exact style dress worn by a professional model from the company’s website.

Apostle Michael Canty of The Truth Ministries Holiness Church recently angered an entire wedding party and might have damaged his new ministry’s reputation after he refused to allow a bride wed her husband on her wedding day because he felt her dress was too sexy.

Lisa Washington said ‘she’s never been more embarrassed then Saturday’ when a local pastor refused to officiate and allow the bride to wed her husband on her wedding day in his facility. Both families were present and the food was waiting to be served at the bride’s aunt house.

Family members flew and drove long distances to be present for the couples special day. Upset and frustrated, guest at the wedding practically ‘begged’ the leaders of the church to reconsider but to no avail, not a budge.

The wedding scheduled Saturday, August 10th, was scheduled for 3pm. At 2pm, the pastor greeted the bride and groom when he noticed the bride’s dress. According to the bride’s mother, the pastor jokingly asked ‘where is the other half of the dress?’ Not thinking anything of it, the family laughed it off and continued applying make-up to the bride. Around 2:30pm the pastor asked a leader of the church to ask the bride and the family about the other part of her dress. The bride informed the leader ‘this is it’. The leader reported the news to the pastor and then the pastor informed face-to-face the bride and groom at separate times he could not perform the wedding with the bride in her selected dress. The pastor told the bride she would have to cover up her breast area and find a way to add length to the dress. The bride informed the pastor there is no way to accomplish this with so short notice and she has to wear her dress. The pastor let her know, he would not perform the ceremony then walked back to his office.

The wedding party tried many times to change the pastor’s decision but their efforts was ineffective. Around 4:15pm guest at the wedding were growing impatience and were looking for answers for the delay. When they were told the reason for the delay around 4:35pm their impatience change to anger and disbelief.

After hearing how the bride was crying her eyes out in back, a minister who was a guest at the wedding offered to perform the ceremony. When the minister asked the pastor for permission to perform the ceremony, the pastor told him ‘no’ and expressed to him how his request was disrespectful.

AmericaPreachers.com asked the bride and groom for pictures of the dress but instead was sent an email with a link of the exact dress worn by a professional model from the companies website. The bride did mention, ‘there were small alterations made to the dress to fit more desirably to my [bride] vision.’ “I’m a unique person, I chose this dress because it’s different than the traditional wedding gown you see at every wedding” the bride said.

Two days later the couple is not married and is currently looking into options to recoup money their family lost with travel, food, and other expenses.

The Truth Ministries Holiness Church was established 14 months ago and currently rent a converted shoe store for worship services. Calls to Apostle Canty and Truth Ministries were not returned. Neither the bride or groom were members of the church.

Foreign AffairsIndian Soldier’s Body Found In Himalayas 45 Years After Plane Crash by chagga(op): 1:50pm On Sep 02, 2013
The body of an Indian soldier who died in a plane crash 45 years ago has been found in the Himalayas and will be given a military funeral, the army said Sunday.
A team found the soldier’s body, still wearing a uniform with personal identification documents in the pocket, on August 22 – more than four decades after he and 101 others died when an army transport aircraft crashed in February 1968.
The man, identified as Jagmail Singh, came from Meerpur village in Haryana state south of the Himalayas, an army spokesman said.
“Bad weather hasn’t allowed us to fly the body home yet for a military funeral,” he told AFP.
The remains were recovered at an altitude of 5,400 metres on the Dhakka glacier in Himachal Pradesh state.
“His identity was established by an identity disc, an insurance policy and a letter from his family which was found in his pocket,” the spokesman said.
The plane took off from a fog-shrouded runway in the city of Chandigarh and was headed for the Himalayan town of Leh.

Halfway to his destination, the pilot decided to turn back due to bad weather.
The aircraft last made radio contact near the 13,050 feet Rohtang pass, before vanishing.
Trekkers stumbled upon its wreckage in 2003 after finding the partially frozen body of a soldier on the glacier, in a particularly remote stretch of the Himalayas.
The army mounted three search missions in the years up to 2009 and recovered four more bodies.
The latest search started on August 13, with the aim of retrieving more bodies as well as a flight recorder that could help explain the cause of the crash.
The Himalayas have long been an icy graveyard for those who disappear in them.
A 1999 expedition to Mount Everest discovered the frozen body of British mountaineer George Mallory, who vanished in 1924 as he tried to reach the world’s highest point. [AFP]http://www.informationng.com/2013/09/indian-soldiers-body-found-in-himalayas-45-years-after-plane-crash.html

I am not a bad girl – Chidinma

By Features Editor on August 31, 2013

For a lot of people, petite Chidinma Ekile, who won the music reality show, Project Fame West Africa Season 3, in 2010, and went on to produce hit songs such as ‘Kedike’ and ‘Jankoliko’ featuring Sound Sultan, is no longer the simple lady people used to know.

Some of her fans have described her as the Nigerian version of America-based musician, Rihanna, a good girl gone bad.

This conclusion is based on the fact that the songstress has introduced radical new styles into her personality, giving the impression that new influences have taken charge.

Apart from changing her hairstyle randomly, she went on to dye it to red, then evolved it into a Mohawk, then another punk style before eventually settling down for a Diana King look.

The whole transformation process has, however, been tagged by her fans as the transition from simple church girl to one with street credibility, a progression which many people have argued, started with the remix of her song, ‘Kedike’, in which she featured rave rap artiste, Olamide.

Chidinma has, however, countered this perception. In a chat with Klieg Light, she says the impression is wrong. In her words, “that is totally false, I am the same Chidinma I used to be. My style has not and will never change. I’m only evolving and growing as a musician, challenging myself and trying out new things.”

On the perception that she now has a different personality due to the new street song, she says ‘Emi ni Baller’ was only an experiment that people fell in love with.”http://www.theheraldng.com/i-am-not-a-bad-girl-chidinma/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

FamilySHOCKING: Woman Kills Husband And Cooks Body by chagga(op): 4:55pm On Aug 31, 2013
A woman in eastern China murdered her husband and boiled the corpse to cover her tracks after he abused her and her daughter, a report said Saturday.

The woman drugged the man, her second husband, and tortured him for three days in June by withholding food and water and beating him, causing his death, said a report on government-backed news portal Anhui News.
She then dismembered the corpse with a saw and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker to hide the evidence, the report said. It did not detail how she disposed of the cooked flesh afterwards.
The psychological burden of the crime proved too much for her to bear, causing her to lose 14 pounds (6.3 kilograms) and turn herself into police, according to the report.
A police officer in Anhui province’s Lu’an City, where the incident occurred, confirmed the case to AFP but declined to give further details.http://www.informationng.com/2013/08/shocking-woman-kills-husband-and-cooks-body.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

PoliticsNyako To Chief Of Air Staff: Stop Meddling In State Affairs by chagga(op): 11:31am On Aug 31, 2013
Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has urged the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Alexander Sabundu Badeh to focus on his national assignment of repositioning the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) instead of meddling in the internal affairs of the state.

Nyako was reacting to reports in some national dailies which suggested that the governor was bitter about Badeh’s appointment by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The report accused Nyako of failing to host a reception in honour of Badeh over his appointment, adding that when the Chief of Air Staff lost his mother in July, the governor failed to attend the burial ceremony nor paid him a condolence visit. It further accused the governor of being uncomfortable with federal projects which the Air Chief had attracted to Yola, the state capital.
Information Nigeria reports that Badeh is an indigene of Vimtim in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State
However, in an interview culled from LEADERSHIP Weekend, Nyako, a retired Vice Admiral and former Chief of Naval Staff, described the allegations as baseless, saying that he held no ill-feelings towards Badeh.
The governor, who spoke through his director of press and public affairs, Malam Ahmed Sajoh, said he was in Abuja when Badeh’s mother died and directed the deputy governor to proceed to Mubi to express the condolence of the state government to the bereaved family.

He said in a democratic setting “everybody is free to make statements including falsehood but the point is that every discerning mind knows that the deputy governor is always assigned to carry such duties on behalf of the governor when I have other engagements.”
Sajoh said contrary to reports that the governor is hostile to Badeh, the Chief of Air Staff has since his appointment, been showing disrespect to the governor.
“To set the record straight, the CAS has never conferred with the state governor on his dealings since he assumed office. He also never deemed it right to pay the governor a courtesy call whenever he is in town, only for some sponsored elements to go to the press  and make wild and uninformed allegations claiming that the governor was hostile to the CAS.
“Some people can go to extremes to promote mischief otherwise, even if Governor Nyako has not congratulated Badeh on his appointment, will that rub off his performance as the CAS?. Nyako’s acknowledgement or lack of it does not in any way improve or negate Badeh’s performance as CAS. The Chief of the Air Staff has his job well cut out for him, he has a role to perform and he is being appointed in line with his professional competency not on political patronage of his state.”http://www.informationng.com/2013/08/stop-meddling-in-state-affairs-and-focus-on-your-military-assignment-nyako-tells-chief-of-air-staff-badeh.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter
Education2009 Agreement between ASSU and FG can not be implemented-Farouk Lawan by chagga(op): 10:51am On Aug 31, 2013
The former Chairman, House Committee on Education, Honourable Farouk Lawan, has reportedly made it clear that the Federal Government was forced to sign the 2009 agreement with ASUU and that those terms cannot be implemented.

Speaking with newsmen, he urged the lecturers to call off the strike and return to the negotiating table, while also calling out to prominent Nigerians to intervene in the matter, as both parties try to find solution to the ongoing strike.

Lawan said: “All of us certainly I believe must be concerned with the current strike that is going on and there is likely possibility that it will be a prolonged one. “Sometime, simply because of the pressure or the determination to get students back to classes, government agrees to certain things they knew then they may not be able to meet as easily as possible.

“This time, the issues were about what were agreed upon in 2009, just as it was with the 2009 strike that had issues of previous strikes embedded in it. “As long as there is no realistic appraisal of what is attainable, then we will always continue to face these problems but we cannot continue this way. “We all know that strikes undermine the quality of education system. “Strikes are equally tied to a situation that is already bad.

“Frequent strikes by academic unions and other unions within the university system and tertiary institutions increasingly add to this pressure.

“That is why I have always maintained that ASUU should be more ingenious in coming up with better ways of getting government to be more committed in improving the education system without necessarily going on strike. “Every society looks up to the universities for new ideas and Nigeria should not be an exception.

“ASUU, as the reservoir of knowledge, should begin to come up with new ways of getting government to do things without necessarily embarking on strikes that add to the problem that our educational system is already facing in this country.” The outspoken lawmaker also opined that ASUU members must go back to the negotiations table so as to come up with more realistic terms that would be implementable.

He added: “I know that the educations committees of the two chambers of the National Assembly have tried to broker understanding and currently there is some kind of negotiation taking place but every Nigerian should encourage ASUU to resume that negotiation so that the matter can be resolved and the lecturers can go back to classes and our children out there for us to have the opportunity of steady and stable educational system.”dailypost.com.ng/2013/08/31/ASUU-strike-lecturers-must-renegotiate-we-cannot-implement-2009-agreement-farouk-lawan/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=ASUU-strike-lecturers-must-renegotiate-we-cannot-implement-2009-agreement-farouk-lawan

Ogunjimi James Taiwo: In defence of Ese Walters: Memo to religious addicts

By Ogunjimi James Taiwo on August 25, 2013
Pin It
“You’re not to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it.” – Malcolm X

“Let hundreds like me perish, but let truth prevail. Let us not reduce the standards of truth even by a hair’s breadth for judging erring mortals like myself.” – Mahatma Gandhi

At the risk of being labelled a heretic and apostate by die-hard religious people who refused to believe that human beings are fallible regardless of their ‘spiritual’ stature, I have decided to give my opinion on this burning issue.

You see, like so many issues that we have in Nigeria, the issue of religion has perhaps shown over time that we are still immature when it comes to handling issues. We tend to neglect so many rules and embrace deliberate lies. The first rule every human must understand is: Trust no one. The Bible itself gave us that rule in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

The Ese Walters issue has brought into light what many young women that have trudged into some of these new generation churches have been passing through in silence. The reactions that trailed Ese’s revelations are perhaps part of the reasons why these ladies have elected to keep quiet rather that face ridicule and open themselves up to scorn in the society.

I put it forward that some of the statements that Ese attributed to the COZA pastor are statements that cannot be denied by people who have spent their lives in churches and close to church leaders. I grew up in a pentecostal church where you get to listen to some of these statements; whether jokingly or not.

Most of those attacking Ese know this is the truth. Come to most of the churches on campus that have only student pastors without adult supervision and you’ll see and hear more than that. Some of the things that happen are too raw to even utter.

Over time, when pastors commit adultery and have affairs, their church members have always been quick to term the lady involved as an ‘agent’ of darkness sent to pull down the pastor. The pastor hides under that garb and gets away with sin while the lady involved is stigmatised forever.

These issues of sexual abuse are issues that bodies such as CAN and PFN must begin to address instead of concerning themselves with political issues. Recently, the Cameroon government ordered the closure of all pentecostal churches there because of their excesses and unacceptable acts. If these acts continue, Nigerian pentecostal churches must get ready to be shut down too and woe betide anyone who claims its persecution because even God must be disgusted with the way we practice religion.

As for Ese, my sympathies are with her and with the myriad of ladies who have suffered similar things and have had to keep quiet because of societal responses. As for the COZA pastor, let’s see you respond to the latest revelation by Franca. Thank God Franca has audio and pictorial evidences.

Opinion: Of Ese Walter, Pastor Fatoyinbo and the rest of us

The fact that he was playing mind games with her, and telling her not to expose him was the breaking point for me as a reader. If the story remains refuted, I will be inclined to believe that Ese was ‘jazzed’ she didn’t sleep with the pastor with clear eyes as my Warri people will say.

I have been seeing and reading all manner of comments and rejoinders about the lady who came public about her escapades with the popular pastor of a new generation church.

The subject matter is highly sensationalised and I was opportuned to read the original story from Ese Walter’s blog. Now, I am a firm believer in the school of thought of three sides to a story. My side, your side and the truth.

The Bible says let everyone who calls the name of God depart from iniquity. So in my humble opinion the fact that the pastor in question has not refuted the story makes it the truth, albeit ugly. The most amazing or should I say annoying are the attack dogs who have taken it upon themselves to comment and not just comment but also insult the lady who came all out to wash her conscience.

The fact that people from this side of the world work extra hard to bury the truth or even blatantly refuse to accept it is a very confusing phenomenon. In all my years on earth, I have not been able to comprehend it. Light is very difficult to hide in a very dark room.

I am not saying Ese Walter is lying or saying the truth but what I am saying is that the die hard critics should ask themselves what she stands to gain by lying or by saying the truth. As far as I am concerned she stands to gain nothing from lying to the world or falsely accusing the pastor. But she has succeeded in purging herself and getting some kind of closure by telling the world. And bear it in mind that closure is something that many of us in this side of the world don’t understand and there fore we don’t seek it.

When I was reading her story I emphatised with her and felt her pain. Imagining the enormity of the confusion that must have besieged her.

I was appalled and dazed at the same time when I read that she asked the pastor how he manages the two personality and He said and I quote ” I will teach you a level of grace that you don’t understand” haaaa! That is what I call sin with the highest order of impunity.

Ki lo de! Men and people of God depart from iniquity.

The fact that he was playing mind games with her, and telling her not to expose him was the breaking point for me as a reader. If the story remains refuted, I will be inclined to believe that Ese was ‘jazzed’ she didn’t sleep with the pastor with clear eyes as my Warri people will say.

The fact that all the people she confided in couldn’t address the issue with the pastor was most un becoming and also the Lagos Branch pastor who made light of the situation sent a wrong message across. What is bad is bad, no sugar-coating or trivialising it can ever change it. Make una fear God!

This story sounds very familiar, I have heard accounts of the ordeal that close relatives and friends suffered in the hands of “men of God” and trust me it’s not just in new generation churches, it cuts across. You will be amazed when I recant them to you my dear readers.

A friend to a close friend was taken to a pastor by her grandparents who asked the pastor to pray for her so she can get a husband and better her luck generally. This lady told my close friend that at the point of prayer this pastor told her that she can’t receive her miracle if he doesn’t have intercourse with her. Long and short of the story is that he had sex with her and she didn’t have the temerity nor courage to tell her grandparents, she confided in my close friend. I was bitter when I heard because a close relative experienced almost same with a twist some years back. An anointed prophet in Ogun state was having sex with my cousins mother, a widow and even told her that god said he should marry her. The prophet in question was married with four children and this was after his first wife died o! It was my mum and sister that rescued the woman and her family.

Also, I had the privilege of been under a certain pastor of a very popular faith and miracles ministry I attended in Ogun state. The assistant pastor who was “anointed” and charismatic on the pulpit was seriously on the case of the Vice president of the fellowship arm of that church. The lady is my sister’s friend so I saw first-hand, text messages and also listened to telephone conversations asking her to be his lady. This pastor is married with kids. In fact, in the process of carrying out her welfare duties to the pastor he almost raped her. I almost ran mad juxtaposing who this man was on the pulpit and behind closed doors when I heard him preach, this is because he was very anointed and charismatic. Then I remembered the scripture that says the gifts and calling of God are without repentance meaning that a man can be called by God, and while he is busy seriously messing up, God will still be honouring His word by backing this erring pastor with signs and wonders. This is for the people who gather to truly worship God and not for the pastor’s sake.

I am not saying that all pastors are randy, but what I am driving at is that as Christians we should not idolize our pastors. They are men before they are men of God. We should seek to know the truth for ourselves, know God for ourselves so that we won’t buy into lies of certain miscreants who call themselves men of God.

I was shocked when my boss told me that an air hostess friend of his told him that one of the jet-owning pastors tried ‘fingering’ her when she was on board his jet. She was too shocked to say no until the other air hostess who was accustomed to this occurrence rescued her and apologised to the Man of God and called my the other lady a novice. It was a gist unconfirmed but you and I know that there is no smoke without fire.

To men of God who have refused to depart from iniquity, bear it in mind that the mercy of God is forever but not His grace. Don’t get it twisted, God will judge us all and judgement will start from God’s house. If you refuse to be accountable to your church members at least respect God and the office you hold.

To blind followers who call themselves church members, don’t be slothful Christians, know God and His words, refuse to be confused. Stand up for the truth, seek the truth and be liberated.

And when people like Ese Walter decide to talk don’t shut them up. Please too many people are dying in silence, that’s one of the problems we have in Nigeria today.

I know that by virtue of Ese’s openness, many true stories will soon flood the internet. I am on the look out. The silence on the evil trend must be broken.
