LESS than 24 hours after a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and a Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) were killed by some rampaging soldiers in Lagos, the blood of some innocent Nigerians were again shed yesterday, allegedly by some policemen detailed to guard the Isheri-end of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

For the refusal of the driver of a commercial bus to part with N100, three mobile policemen opened fire on the bus, killing and injuring some of the passengers.

Some passersby cried when they saw one of the dead victims on the ground at OPIC Bus Stop with his brains out. He was drenched in his own blood.

A woman passenger was shot in the eyes while another passenger had his hand shattered by bullets.

They were rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

Angry residents took the body of the victim with shattered head to the front of a popular building in the area, looking for the policemen who, by then, had fled.

One of the passengers, Adeseye Oladimeji, told the Nigerian Compass that the white bus with registration number, XU 163 SMK, left Ojota for Ibafo with about eight passengers before the attack. Bullet holes were seen on the body of the bus.

Said Oladimeji: “I thank God that I am alive. Look at me, I am not hurt yet blood is all over my body. It is the blood of other passengers. We boarded the bus from Ojota, heading to Ibafo. When we got to OPIC junction, we were surprised to see a check-point. The mobile policemen were three in number.



“They asked the driver to give them N100 and the driver pleaded with them that he just came out and that he would see them later. One of them asked him to go, and at a very close range, they started shooting at us. Besides this man on the ground, I can tell you that almost four persons are at the verge of death while one woman was hit by a bullet in her eyes. For another who may survive, his hand was shattered by bullets, among others.”

When the Nigeria Compass called the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, he expressed shock and promised to investigate the incident.

The rumour mill is at work again. News have been making the rounds and many are already speaking with air of authority that all is not well between two jolly good fellows and business partners, Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye.

The duo that revived the hip-hop culture with their entertainment company, Primetime Africa and Kennis Music, are said to have fallen out due to irreconcilable differences but are managing the situation magnanimously.

The split, according to industry watchers, allegedly started when Kenny Ogungbe began managing his uncle’s Rainbow FM without his ever present friend, Dayo, and the two have not been seen together at public events recently since the Kennis Music Easter Fiesta.
In an interview with Showbiz Now, Kenny Ogungbe debunked the story, calling it “a lie. “That is not true. There is no crack in my relationship with D-One. We still organized the Kennis Music Easter Fiesta together recently. My uncle, Chief Onabanjo, owns the radio station and I am the Managing Director here. ID, who is my younger brother, is not at Rainbow with me. So does that mean we are fighting? Please, the story is not true.”

A police corporal attached to the Anti-Pipeline Vandalization Task Force has shot dead a tanker driver in Ahoada area of Rivers State. Already, the trigger-happy policeman is on his way out of the Force as police authorities hinted that he would be arraigned in court soon. The suspect (names withheld) was alleged to have shot the tanker driver at Olokobo in Ahoada West Local Government Area during a quarrel.

The incident occurred about 3 p.m. on Friday, May 27. The victim was rushed to hospital where he died shortly after he was admitted. Consequently, tanker drivers have threatened to go on strike.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman in the state, Mr. Benjamin Ugwuegbulam (DSP), said the suspect was of the Anti-Pipeline Vandalisation Task Force, Zone Six, Calabar, adding that he has been detained and his weapon recovered.

Mr. Ugwuegbulam said the corporal was “being dismissed” and, “to be charged to court next week”. He said police detectives and the State CID have stepped into the matter. The police image-maker assured that the threat of “road blockade and strike” by tanker drivers was being “managed” and urged for calm.

It was a bloody Tuesday in Lagos as some soldiers shot dead two senior police officers and six others.
A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) ran into the rampaging soldiers at the ASCON Road, near the Badagry Army Barrack.

Daily Sun gathered that trouble, started between the soldiers and policemen on Sunday when some policemen at a checkpoint along the Badagry Road confronted a man in mufti, suspected to be a soldier.
The man, Daily Sun also learnt was riding on a motorcycle and was accused by the police of contravening traffic rules. Efforts were made by the police to arrest him, but he allegedly resisted arrest. A police corporal was alleged to have opened fire on the suspected soldier who later bled to death. After it realised that the victim was a soldier, all the policemen at road block, in the police stations and on duty along the road removed their uniforms and fled their duty posts.

The fear that the soldiers might come on reprisal attack was confirmed when some rampaging soldiers stormed some police stations along the road but did not meet their targets. The aggrieved soldiers therefore barricaded the road, searching for policemen inside the vehicles plying the Lagos/Badagry expressway.
While the soldiers were searching for policemen, the slain DPO, Mr. Samuel Salihu contacted the Army High Command who invited him for a peace meeting yesterday.

It was gathered that while the DPO, his DCO, who was identified as Samson Okedusi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), orderly and other officers were on their way to 242 Battalion, Ibereko Barracks, they were allegedly ambushed by some soldiers who opened fire on them. By the time the smoke settled, the DPO, DCO and six other persons were stone dead.
As at press time, dead bodies of the DPO and others were lying on the road.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army yesterday said that none of its men was involved in the brutal killing of the two police officers and six other persons in the Badagry area of Lagos.

Army spokesman in Lagos, Lieutenant Colonel Kayode Ogunsanya told Daily Sun on phone that none of the Force’s personnel was involved in the killing of the DPO, DCO of the Badagry Police Station over a minor incident that started on Sunday.
Ogunsanya said the suspected killers of a soldier on Sunday night at the Ibereko Barrack of the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion are in the custody of the Nigerian Army and that the killing of the soldier is being investigated.

Ogunsanya in a statement which was sent as SMS reads: “A soldier from 242 battalion was shot and killed by policemen on May 22, 2011. The suspected killers have been arrested and in our custody. The case is being investigated. However, no soldier is involved in the killing of the DPO and the policemen as being speculated.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Hafiz Ringim, was in Lagos to commission some communication gadgets at the state Headquarters, Ikeja, when news about the killing filtered in.

He was said to be consulting with the Army High Command to find a lasting solution to the war allegedly declared on the police by the soldiers.
A senior police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity told Daily Sun that he spoke with the DPO a few minutes before he was killed.
He said: “I asked him what he was doing about the matter and he told me that he was on his way to the barracks to see the commandant. When I called him few minutes again, his orderly who escaped death by the whiskers answered the phone telling me that the DPO had been shot.”
Meanwhile, there was tension along the road as shop owners hurriedly locked up their shops. Some residents had started fleeing the area pwhile others locked themselves up in their homes.

A driver, Matthew Nwaogu described the incident as a war. According to him, he was on his way to the Republic of Benin when he started hearing gunshots, thinking that armed robbers were shooting, he drove straight to a police station.
At the police station, he saw some armed soldiers ransacking the station. He said one of the soldiers after searching his vehicle and the passengers, ordered them to lie down so that they would not be hit by stray bullets.

Daily Sun investigation revealed that some of the deceased and injured victims were civilians were going on their normal businesses.
Worried residents had besieged the Area ‘C’ Police Command, Festac Town to make enquiries about their relatives.
Lagos State police spokesman, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, when contacted over the clash said the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Yakubu Alkali would soon comment on the issue.

As Pastor Irimiya Rabo Maigida retired to bed with his wife, Kezia on the night of May 14, 2011, he never knew that his sojourn on earth was about to come to an abrupt and violent end.
The 56-year-old Maigida, an indigene of Bogoro Local Government area died the next day of gunshot wounds to his stomach.

His assailants allegedly stormed his house at Jaruma village in Toro Local Government area of Bauchi State while he was asleep with his wife and shot him before they fled.
The pastor’s wife was also shot and macheted. But by a stroke of divine intervention, Kezia survived
Both husband and wife were being rushed to the Teaching Hospital in Bauchi from Jaruma, a distance of about 110 kilometres, when Maigida gave up the ghost.

As the police and other security agencies are investigating the murder of Pastor Irmiyia, his death has triggered a barrage of questions about the safety of lives and property of people in the state in recent times.
More worrisome is the fact that the death of the COCIN pastor has brought to five the number of Christian clerics killed in parts of the state in less than a month. No fewer than four pastors were killed in the post-election violence in the state.
Last year, a COCIN pastor and his wife were brutally murdered in Boto village in Tafawa Balewa area and their bodies buried in shallow graves before they were uncovered.

Only recently, a pastor of COCIN church, Pastor Joshua Reke narrowly escaped death when his church was attacked by gunmen.
Reke’s wife and three children were unlucky as they were among the 16 people, mostly women and children, brutally murdered when Kurum Dodo, the village he was serving as a pastor, was attacked by gunmen.
Maigida, until his untimely death, was serving in the Jaruma village in Jama’a district of Toro Local Government area of the state as a pastor with the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), LCC, Nabordo.

The cleric, a father of seven children and four grandchildren, had served in many places within the state including COCIN, CC Dutse Saki, Sang, Filiya, Biliri , Dan Anacha, Kangere, Salama and Gen Fada.
Daily Sun gathered that the gunmen first killed the couple’s neighbour, Joshua Mana from Miya in Ganjuwa Local Government area who was the secretary of the church in the village.

After killing Joshua, the gunmen, it was learnt, proceeded to Pastor Maigida’s house.
The wife, Kezia, told our correspondent that the sound of the gunshots woke her from sleep and she came out. The next thing she felt was a bullet in her left hand, she said.
Kezia miraculously survived the brutal attack and is presently recuperating with gunshot and machete injuries at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

The slain pastor’s wife was in tears as she recounted how her husband was killed.
She spoke to Daily Sun on her hospital bed.
The mother of seven said the family and indeed the entire COCIN church in the state had been shattered as a result of the death of her husband who she described as a kind, caring and honest man committed to spreading the gospel
Kezia, 48, who could not hold back the tears said: “We were sleeping when we heard gunshots. I came out of my room and looked out and the next thing I saw was a bullet.

“I ran out and went to the bush as four men pursued me. I went and hid in the bush and lay down. They also hid in the bush but I did not know, and when I stood up, they followed me and seized me.”
The woman said her attackers stabbed her severally and rubbed some white painful substances on her cuts and she became unconscious.
Kezia said she woke up to see leaves on her body as they probably thought she had died.
She said the attackers divided themselves into groups, noting that while the four assailants pursued her, another group entered the house through the back and opened the window.

“My husband heard Joshua shouting and the wife ran out. They shot him and set his house ablaze with his children sleeping inside. After they left, the villagers broke the door and rescued the children.”
According to her, when her husband first heard the shots, he wanted to find out what was the problem.
She said: “He came out when they shot him in the stomach and fled. Then people started coming and when they saw Baba (her husband) on the ground, they started crying.”

Ishaya Irmiya, the first son of the late pastor worked in Abuja. He told Daily Sun that he got a call that his parents had been shot and were in critical condition.
“I was in Abuja when the news got to me. I immediately told my younger sister Yeba to call our sister in Bauchi, to go to Jaruma. They got there around 8 in the morning and were taking my mother and my father to the hospital when my father gave up.”

Ishaya, who could not stop weeping as he explained how his father died, said his old man would have been saved if they had reached the hospital in good time.
He said: “He died at Takande . There was delay which was caused by the police . I was told that they met a police roadblock as they were taking them to the hospital. The police refused to allow them to be taken to Bauchi, that they had to go to Toro and get a report. As they were there delaying, my father died.”
Ishaya wondered what his father had done that would have warranted his killing in that manner. He vouched for his father, saying he was a good pastor who carried out his work diligently.

“He has been in the ministry for over 30 years. He married my mother in 1974, and since then, he has devoted his work to the gospel. We will miss and pray that God will give us (the children) the grace to carry on with life without him. He was a pillar, full of wisdom and patience.”
Late Maigida’s colleague, Yihanna Haruna described the killing of Maigida as very painful.

He said: “I was with him on Friday. I was very shocked when the news came to me. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace with the Lord.”
Pastor Maigida had since been buried at the Christian Cemetery at Yelwa Zurfi in the state capital according to Christian rites, Daily Sun learnt.

CPC SLAMS FG OVER CAMPBELL'S VISA REFUSAL

Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has criticized the Federal Government for refusing former Ambassador of the United States of America to Nigeria, Mr. John Campbell, entry visa to Nigeria.

Nigerian authorities claimed that Campbell failed to meet its visa requirement.
But the CPC, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin, insisted that the denial of the visa was Nigeria’s reaction to Ambassador Campbell’s criticism of an opinion poll that claimed that President Goodluck Jonathan was having wide acceptance ahead of the April polls and will win with a large margin.

The CPC said, “As a party, we are convinced that the real reason for this show of unreasonableness is not unconnected with Mr. John Campbell’s critical
commentaries in recent times on the shenanigans of this PDP-led Federal Government.”
CPC recalled that Mr. Campbell had dismissed the opinion poll by a newspaper, saying that the President would win the April election by more than 60 per cent of the votes in the country.

The American Ambassador claimed that the newspaper that did the opinion poll had close relationship with the Federal Government and should not be taken seriously. The party, which saw nothing wrong with the views expressed by the American ambassador, recalled that Mr. Campbell had equally criticised the 2007 election. As far as the CPC was concerned, “Mr. Campbell is unjustifiably being persecuted for his candid opinion about the country, more so that Nigeria’s Ambassador to U.S., Professor Ibidapo Adebowale Adefuye, had threatened that his visa would not be reviewed when expired.

“As stakeholders in the Nigerian enterprise, we are appalled by this descent to infantile and thuggish diplomacy, because the Nigerian nation is projected in bad light, among the comity of nations, by this latest action of the Federal Government.
It is our considered opinion that if the Nigerian government has strong aversion to Mr. Campbell’s recent communication on Nigeria, there are available diplomatic channels to ventilate such grievance.

CPC added, “We insist that this government’s action is faux pas and has inexorably enhanced Mr. Campbell’s diplomatic status rather than vitiating it

Crazy thread, largely boisterous inputs and really very shallow from the point of poster. Lets face it, we cant all be tall, so i am not. Our IQ level cant all be the same, i rank well above average. We strive to make ourselves who we are or would want to be, and i look at my peers and thank God that i have done far exceedingly well for my age and experience. I get more than my fair share of the ladies (a bit more than i can handle), and i dont come with a face like that of OBJ (If i did, i still would find ways of getting round it and having fun in this life), so what point is being made here?

The six footers honestly did nothing to gain that height, (forget all that stuff about drinking plenty milk), gene perhaps played its part, so why would a not too tall guy complain. When folks are neither occupied, nor busy with their brains, they think up all sorts of funny self aggrandizing ideas. Honestly, its only a mental lilliput that wakes up and thinks about such things. Final point, the sexiest and most beautiful babe in my office (upstream oil and gas coy) says she'd never date a tall guy. She has her reasons, don't ask me.
