Extremely rash propositions by you Dudu - you've somehow managed to link a loss in a (meaningless) reserve game to a lack of talent coming through their academy to implying the club will end up finishing outside the top 4?? huh

When they destroyed Arsenal at the Emirates wasn't it Rooney and Nani that ran the show? Those two (for example) will be around for the next 5-7 years at least so they are ok as far as I'm concerned.

Utd has more than enough talent, heck more than half of their first team will ALWAYS meet the homegrown rule and they are too well managed to ever go the way of Liverpool. There is way too much going on at Utd for them to ever go the way of Liverpool - their revenue geneation alone is more than sufficient to guarantee that.

It's one thing to claim their youth team isn't up to scratch, it's another to use that to define the whole club's future. Giggs and Scholes are important, but there is a heck of a lot of quality aside from them. That aside, Utd ha the greatest drawing power for talent in England, aside from Frenchies who'll always prefer Arsenal. There is absolutely no cause for alarm at Utd, except for maybe a temporary dip, which is in itself unlikely.

He scored two lucky goals last weekend, there's nothing much to speak about as yet.
Bros Debosky, you get sense wella . . . so because the reserve team lost 4-1 . . . we can then conclude that they are all rubbish and cant make it into the first team. undecided undecided undecided

Let's forget about it and discuss our fantasy line-ups for Liverpool. grin
I think Fergie will stick to 4-4-2 cos of Berba's form.

Nani and Giggs out wide with Scholes and Flether in the middle.

The only doubt is whether he will play Rio ahead of Evans.

What is the basis of comparison for Bebe? Did he excel at FIFA youth level like Messi and Vela did? huh

Vela won a youth tourney with Mexico along with the golden boot - that is one of the key points of comparison. Besides, players delivers on their potential at different points.
So any player that shines or succeeds at a youth tournament should now be compared to Messi? huh huh

The Bebe comparison was a 'tongue in cheek' comment

TKB, you are just repeating yourself.

You talk about lack of creativity and I gave you the fact about who created most of our goals last season.
So what are you talking about.

Evra was leading player with assists? Are you kidding me? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
grin grin grin
Go and bring out the assist chart.

Let me ask you again. Hernandez and Gibson were the only two players that didn't feature against the Arses at the Emirates last season not considering the defence. So what lack of creativity in the team are you talking about. What more do you want?

Yes, on the night we created nothing . . . . but that was beacause we didn't play well and Rangers did not because the players cannot create but we just couldn't create on the night.

It can happen to anyone at anytime. These players cant play well in every match.
It was a poor performance . . . . that was all.

debosky:
Dunno why there's all this fuss - we're talking potential here - Vela was immense at youth level like Messi so it isn't ridiculous to think he has a similar level of potential even if he hasn't delivered on it, or never delivers on it.

Judging potential is not an exact science, and is more of an opinion more than anything. Leave us be with our opinions.
Was? What about now?
Yes potential is not an exact science, but at least there should be some meaningful perspective here.
Can I also say BEBE has the potential to be Messi? grin grin grin grin grin since we are talking about potential here grin grin grin

How old is Messi and how old is Vela?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by chamotex(m): 3:09pm On Sep 16, 2010
debosky:
Re-read my post - quality wasn't the only issue per se, it was more a case of the magnitude of change. You can put the best 11 players in the world into a team and still get a poor performance due to lack of cohesion.

Attacks were uncoordinated and Hernandez appeared lost for most of the game.
Apart from Hernandez and Smalling, all the other players have played together for many years.
It was just a bad performance in general.

dayokanu:
Like this is something new? Every big club experience this. Which team would go to Nou Camp and open up or even in Bernabeu?

Roma a normal attacking side came to Munich last night and packed a trailer. The possesion stats was like 75% to 25% , Total shots taken were 16 to 3 in favour of Bayern.

Yet that didnt stop Bayern from winning.

The summary is that Manure suck
Are you saying Bayern has never had a game where they should have won and failed to do so?

debosky:
Not saying that. . . .just pointing out the lack of creativity. If Giggs can't play game in game out, at least Nani can.
I agree . . . but dont you also agree that other players need chances and games to prove themselves.
Since Nani will surely be starting against Liverpool, isn't it right to give other players (good enough) a chance to get some minutes under their belts.

debosky:
Too many wholesale changes influenced the poor performance, not the quality of players alone - Hernandez, Park, Gibson, Smalling, Fabio, Brown and Kitkat. Naturally the team lost rhythm and fluidity because they were mostly playing together for the first time this season and it showed.
True . . . we can argue that there was too many changes but still, we were playing at home not away.
If this game was played at Ibrox, then no complaints from me.

We were barely tested at the back . . . but there was no cutting edge going forward.

I still am trying to wrap my head around tkb's submission about having a right mix (added to parrot/tatafo debosky's usual off-sight comments on anything United).

jalether:
I partly agree with eastbay and chamo

The players fielded against rangers were good enough to win the game. especially at old trafford.

Chelsea started 3 non regulars and introduced another 3 youngsters later in the game and still won the game away from home emphatically

but on the otherhand. . . .tkb's assertion on the right mic holds some validitity as well. . . . you tailor your resources and formation according to the opponent

fergie knew rangers were gonna park the bus like many other teams do at old trafford the creativity was crucially lacking the break the resistance.

both fergie and the players must share the blame
You are totally right . . . . how that team is not good enough to beat Rangers at OT beats me.
If the players played up to their potential we would have done better but not every player (not even Messi) can play well in every game.
The performance was poor . . . . no doubt but the selection was good enough . . . not the best but was good enough.

90% of teams that come to OT come to park the bus, we are used to that.
I dont blame Fergie at all . . . I blame the players.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by chamotex(m): 2:40pm On Sep 16, 2010
debosky:
Precisely - Fergie got the balance wrong. Everyone knew Rangers would work their butts off and would be very disciplined. What you needed was guile/creativity to unlock them. Once Giggs came in, you saw a difference with his crossing and dribbling, but it was all too late.
Giggs is frigging 37 years old. Do you expect him to play in mid week and then play in a big game against Liverpool on Sunday?

I repeat, that team was good enough . . . the players didn't perform . . . . simple!
In midfield, only Gibson didn't start against the Arses at the Emirates last season, so what right mix was Tkb talking about?
UP front - we had Wazza, our top scorer . . . what more does he want abeg.

If the trio of Valancia ( a major provider of most of our goals), Fletcher (our midfield machine) and Park (the workaholic) is not good enough according to TKB, then he should go and support Accrington Stanley in League 2 grin grin grin grin

It was just a bad day at the office and people are already reacting like its never happened before.

tkb417:
what are u saying?
Valencia, Park and Fletcher in midfield?
where is the creativity gonna come from? u think na fantasy league where u can field 4 wingers at a time grin grin grin

that was a silly combo and a rubbish selection
Jeeeeezzz!!! Sometimes I wonder if you are truly a United fan or know anything more about the team.
You've known this team for a long time and you are talking like this. Like I said before it's still a knee jerk reaction on your part.

That team is good enough  . . . . . FACT!!!
Valencia, Fletcher and Park in  midfield . . . . .  3 of which started in our biggest games last season againt Chelsea and Arsenal
Creativity? Valencia that was one of our leading assisters last season and I can even remember setting up a couple this season already.

TKb I dont want to believe you are saying this seriously.
Who else should have played in that midfield on Tuesday night? Prolly Nani because you dont expect Scholes to play 3 games in a week at his age . . . . I'm sure even you should know that.

Our top scorer last season and arguably our best player Rooney, didn't he play 90 minutes?
Apart from Fabio, Gibson and Smalling . . . . every other player that played have International experience.

tkb417:
they were good enuff and ethey didnt win?
What kind of statement is this?

Yes they were good enough but we didn't win.

The team that played Everton last week, weren't they good enough? Did we WIN?
The strong team that lost to LEEDS in the FA cup last season, weren't they good enough? Did they WIN?
