PoliticsRe: Igbo's Didn't Make Lagos, Lagos Made The Igbo's by change49ja: 11:20am On Apr 13, 2015
FreeGlobe:
if Lagos made igbos and people like the writer and Sloan claim Lagos is yoruba, then let Yoruba make another Lagos! Simple arithmetic
My sister, Ogun state is another Lagos in the making. This is inevitable with hundreds of thousands of people coming into Lagos everyday. The masterplan is there for everyone to see. Ogun state have access to the sea, huge land for housing and agriculture, proximity to Lagos etc.

What is causing the delay is politics. The project has been standstill since Jonathan came to power due to corruption and politics.

This is the reason why APC fought tooth and nail with PDP over Lagos for continuity. So, in the next 10years, don't be surprised if you see people relocating to Ogun, 'the new Lagos'. wink

Buhari's job starts on the 29th of May, 2015. Two captains cannot steer a ship. So Mr Metuh, take a Chill. GEJ is still the President. Address all your grievances to him.

I am yet to see any Igbo man that will want to
vote for Ambode.
Yoruba votes willl be divided between Ambode
and Agbaje.
The survey I have had in the past 5days:
-Okada riders say they won't vote for APC
because Fashola seized their bikes. These
okada riders are mostly northerners.
Infact, they have had meetings concerning the
election.
-Commercial bus drivers say they won't vote
APC because agberos keep extorting money
from them
-Shop owners say they won't vote APC
because of illegal and excessive tax they pay
to government
-market women say they won't vote APC
because shopping malls built by LASG is too
expensive. Oyingbo and Suru-Alaba market
women comes to mind
Land owners/property developers say they
won't vote APC because Omonile give them
problems.
It will take a miracle for Ambode to win. I am
an APC supporter but I fear the outcome of
the governorship results in Lagos.
Someone should please tell our President elect that we voted for Buhari and not APC!
Now we are voting Agbaje and not PDP!
Meanwhile Fashola has been everywhere doing the talking. While I still love and respect him. Is Fashola running for Governor or Ambode? I won't vote anyone who can't come out to win my vote. Oops Jimi already did. I won't vote for someone who can't speak for himself. Eloquence of a bus conductor and a mere book cooker! Someone whose indigeneship has a comma!
Jaykay we know! Jaykay we want!
Question for you: Who are the people that voted against GEJ in Lagos with all his $$$$$$$$$£££££€€€€€€€€¥¥¥¥¥¥¥?

Everyone will join APC, then self inflicted implosion set in. That is more dangerous than opposition party.
You have a valid point however, the difference is that APC unlike PDP have wise, rugged and intelligent politicians. Believe me, it's not easy to be in the opposition for 16years.

Impossible! JAGABAN lose lagos! Lie lie. . I can bet my certificates that APC has Lagos. If Fashola messed up, then it would have been hard. . but Fashola finished work. Even PDP admits that.
Thanks for this valid point. Those that understands the politics of Lagos state knows that Tinubu (and other true Lagosians) plus APC will rather lose the presidential election than Lagos state gubernatorial election. Tinubu will rather sacrifice Buhari than losing Lagos. Losing Lagos is like losing 50% of Nigeria. So, 16 years plus 16years equals 32years. Am I correct? grin grin grin

APC, you MUST avoid all Tom, D.ick and Harry politicians from defecting to your party. Politicians without principles must be avoided.

PoliticsSix Months Orientation Before Defecting To APC by change49ja(op): 8:37pm On Apr 08, 2015
APC must ban all AGIP(Any Govt In Power) politicians from defecting to their party for a period of atleast Six (6) months from 29th of May,2015. This is to enable them to learn and feel what it takes to be in the opposition(No be beans).

Moreover, allowing these AGIP politicians to automatically defects to APC would be an INJUSTICE to other politicians who risks their lives fighting the incumbent government in order for power to change hands.

After the six month period, the AGIP politicians should undergo an orientation as to what APC stands for. Then, they can be admitted into the party.

Should APC fail to do this, they should be ready to vacate Aso Rock in 2019.

Gbawe:
Indeed. Are we now supposed to forget the monumental and universally acclaimed misrule of GEJ because of one act he was bullied into by the likes of David Cameron, Obama et al? GEJ did not want to leave and was not prepared to leave hence the massive rigging - and we have even seen the video proof - conducted for him in Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom et al.

Whether people know it or not, the result, which showed Buhari had won despite the massive rigging of team GEJ, had been known since Sunday. Many moved behind the scene to convince GEJ not to try anything funny and subtle threats were deployed. GEJ, as expected of his self-serving nature, preferred not to piss-off this powerful lobby group. They never wanted to hand over and were willing to do anything to sit tight. Many simply showed GEJ he will be made to account for his action if chaos ensued because he did not want to accept the outcome of an election he clearly lost. GEJ was 'strong-armed' to accept defeat.
I 'liked' what you wrote before I read cos' you always make sense. Cheers.

As a youth, I joined Nairaland politics section for constructive arguments about government policies etc midway through PDP's 16year rule but I got fed up with happenings on Nairaland when I realized this forum had been hijacked by politicians and tribalists. Every political discuss always turned to a back and forth abuse, even from the first post.

So, I decided to leave Nairaland and watch from sidelines until few weeks ago before the election. I believe a lot of people that couldn't take it left as well at the time.

But now, with Buhari's election, I believe sanity is back on Nairaland as those political agents who often start troubles are now in the opposition.

With this, I foresee millions of youths coming back/ register on Nairaland for constructive arguments on politics and government policies.

May I plead with the Nairaland moderators to please ensure that we don't go back to those horrible days. Thanks.

That and the fact that they partisanly controlled the wealth and institutions of Nigeria. Minus the control they enjoyed as administrators of Nigeria's wealth and income, the PDP is finished. This is because the PDP is full of unprincipled hacks who joined the Party to get rich quick. Those sort, because the progress of Nigeria is not their concern to begin with, will nevef make an effective opposition.

Do you think the present crop of politicians in PDP like GEJ, Bode George, Muazu, David Mark, Fani Kayode, Okupe, Sambo, Fayose, Mimiko, Akpabio, Jonah Jang etc can match the incoming ruling party as an opposition party?

tomzman:
I pray Igbos would one day see the wisdom in the decision Rochas made. Igbos should stop this hate, you would end up as losers in the end. Learn from this election!
On point. Ndigbo need to support their leaders especially Okorocha at the centre. If Ndigbo work in Unity & purpose, the next president will come from SE. It is long overdue.

I strongly believe an Igbo would have been the president after Yaradua but unfortunately, Yaradua's death changed the dynamics.

Though not constitutional but I still believe the next president will come from the South after Buhari. Check this; Obasanjo (South) to Yaradua (North) to Jonathan ( South) to Buhari (North) back to South after Buhari but who gets it, I don't know.

The three most likely contestants are Fashola (SW), Ameachi (SS) and Okorocha (SE). For equity and fairness sake, the most qualified is Gov. Okorocha (SE), for Peformance sake the most qualified is Gov. Fashola and, for hardwork sake, the most qualified is Ameachi.

Personally, I think the next president should come from South East and this is based purely on fairness and equity. The reason been that, the last two presidents from the south came from SW (Obasanjo) and SS (Jonathan), meaning the SE is the only Zone in the south that are yet to present a president.

I wish I have more time to analyze this. That's why I said Ndigbo need to support their leaders especially Okorocha at the centre. If Ndigbo works in Unity & purpose, the next president will come from SE, no doubt.

It was a miscalculation for the east to have voted out Ngige, i mean they ought to have gambled with him at the very least, sad.

The House of representatives should produce at least one APC member from the east, Imo i presume. whosoever becomes the speaker.
I support this provided there is an APC HOR winner from Imo.

1.President...Gen.Buhari_North
2.Vice President...Prof. Osinbajo_South
3. Senate President...Dr. Saraki_North
4.Speaker HOR...Vacant_South East(Imo) or South South(Edo)
PoliticsMr. Buhari Please.... by change49ja(op):
1. Please learn from President GEJ's mistakes.

2. Please make sure you don't surround yourself with sycophants

3. Please fight corruption and indiscipline. I repeat, fight corruption.

4. Please avoid tribalism. Do not use quota systems for appoiments. Appoint the best of the best hands be they Hausas, Igbo, Fulani, Yoruba, Urhobo, Ijaws etc

5. Please avoid Religious sentiments. Do not be biased.

6. Please fight insecurity. Re-empower our gallant soldiers, police, immigration officers etc.

7. Please always follow due process by respecting the rules of law.(National Assembly, Judiciary)

8. Please rebuild our economy by massively creating jobs for the youths. This will not be possible without the Agriculture, Power and Education sectors. By education, I don't mean having useless PhDs etc. I meant Technical schools, Agric schools etc

9. Please promote unity and togetherness

10. Please, If you do all these things, Nigerians(friends and enemies) shall willingly support you for another term if God wills and if you will. But if you digress from doing these things, God willing, I'll be one of your enemies (May this never happen).

I pray for God in his infinite mercies to grant you and your vice the wisdom, knowledge, understanding and long life to do these hard tasks.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"The problems were there before I came to power"_ GEJ

Four questions for GEJ;

1) Are the problems still there now?

2)Are the problems worse than before or better?

3)What have you done to reduce the problems as the president for nearly six years?

4) If you've done little or nothing, do you think you sincerely deserve another term?
