Politics › Atiku, Kwankwaso, Tambuwal & Saraki Are The Biggest Losers by change49ja(op): 11:41am On Jun 23, 2015 |
I can't but laugh everytime I hear people say Saraki with the help of Kwankwaso, Tambuwal & Atiku outsmarted Tinubu to become the Senate President. I actually believed these quartets 'shot themselves on the head' with their miscalculations. They formed an alliance in order to bring Tinubu down not knowing that they were actually destroying their long term political career. No wonder Kwankwaso is singing a new song. No wonder Saraki is going round the clock to beg ex-presidents/head of states to intervene. No wonder Atiku is screaming his undiluted loyalty to Buhari. I believe Tambuwal feel so ashamed of himself right now. It's not a secret that these men aspire to become the President of Nigeria in 2019. I strongly believe Tambuwal and Kwankwaso both have a very good chance come 2019 but I really doubt if that'll ever happen again with the event at the National Assembly and most especially their disrespect to the party and the president.
For these quartets, their long term political ambitions to emerge as the presidential flagbearer of APC is as good as dead on arrival. |

1) Accept Saraki as the Senate President and bring all APC senators back together to have majority senators in the Senate i.e 59 senators as against PDP and other 49 senators.
2) Ask Ekweremadu to resign or get impeached immediately. (edited)
3) With these two simple strategies, PDP will be put back in chains and APC will have full control of the National Assembly. |

“Why was he in a hurry when he knew that only 57 Senators were in the chamber for the legislative exercise, what would he have lost if he had delayed it in obedience to the presidential directive. |

I just hope President Buhari is not mistaking a Civilian government with a Military government. In a military government, the head of state can do and undo but in a democratic settings, due process has to be followed. These is why he cannot afford to be careless or show 'I don't care attitude' as to the calibre of people who heads the National Assembly. He can't afford to allow indiscipline, selfish, greedy and desperate people to be in control of the National Assembly. It's too dangerous. |

APC accuses Saraki, Dogara of being pro-PDp.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday noted that the present composition of the leadership of the National Assembly, which has the Upper Chamber headed by Senator Bukola Saraki, and the Lower Chamber by Yakubu Dogara, was pro-Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This was disclosed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily monitored in Abuja. He insisted that the action of some of its members which resulted in what transpired during the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly on Tuesday was deserving of punishment.
According to him, “What we have in the Senate now is a pro-PDP Senate which is not in the interest of our party. How do you expect us to sit with Ekweremadu and Mark and discuss matters of national importance?
“These are part of the old Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, order we struggled to defeat at the centre. So how can we then sit down with them to discuss issues of national importance with these people?” he asked.
When reminded that the APC still controls majority at the National Assembly, Mohammed noted that the parliament’s leadership as currently constituted is an ally of the PDP, “because it got its mandate through the block votes of the PDP. Remember, there were only eight APC Senators who voted for Saraki. The balance which is 49 are from PDP. In the House of Representatives, only 30 APC members voted for Yakubu Dogara. So you can see that the National Assembly is pro-PDP.
“They even overreached themselves by naming David Mark as the Senate Leader before they realised the illegality of their action and reverse themselves.”
Tinubu is a ‘local champion’, Saraki, Dogara have ended his political career – Bode George The APC spokesman further noted that inasmuch as the party will not want to lose its members, those involved will still be sanctioned because, “the indiscipline should not be allowed to go just like that. If this is allowed to go, then it means any member can perpetrate bigger indiscipline and hope to get away with it.” On point Sir |

Dogara can be disciplined internally, but Saraki needs to be expelled.Doing nothing in Saraki's own case is worse than taking a drastic action. I am confident that the eggheads in APC will come up with something that will serve the purpose, but for me I don't see a way out here that won't end up in expulsion, because the bad blood has been set and damage already done. So on point |

nnachukz: Try it and hand over majority to PDP. All his loyalists will join PDP and still elect a leader of their choice. It's better for Saraki and his greedy cohorts to be in PDP than to say they're in APC while they disregard and disrespect their party with impunity. As it stands, APC has nothing to lose if Saraki is expelled but APC has a lot to gain if he's expelled. At least, it'll show no one is above the party. If he remains in APC, APC is dead on arrival. APC should learn from the Tambuwal saga and avoid such mistakes. |

If Buhari refuse to condemn what happened yesterday, he shouldn't cry foul tomorrow if he's facing an impeachment process by this Saraki led senators.
I'm surprised Buhari sees nothing wrong in opposition becoming deputy Senate president, house leader and other top positions in the senate.
Moreover, the impunity of these greedy politicians is sickening. If it's not addressed, Buhari should forget having a smooth relationship with the National Assembly.

Franzeez: How can APC postpone a National Assembly Inauguration. Is it their fathers business The question you should ask is whether the newly elected PDP senators and few APC senators have constitutional right to conduct elections of the leadership of the 8th National Assembly without the presence of all other elected legislators. This is a very important event of the National Assembly and some greedy politicians just hijacked it for their selfish reasons. |

idupaul: Lai Mohammed give Buhari just 4 months and we will know who the leader of the party is!!! You're getting it wrong bro. This is one of the kind of statements that 'killed' PDP. Buhari knows better. Let me ask you these question: before the presidential election, who is/are the leader(s) of APC? I bet you'll not say Buhari is the only leader of APC. The fact that he contested under the platform of APC doesn't make him the 'Beginning and End' of APC. This was where PDP got it all wrong with Goodluck Jonathan. The moment Goodluck became the president, he indirectly hijacked the leadership of the party and he forgot the key people like OBJ, Ameachi and co who worked tirelessly for his success. GEJ ruled like a king with absolute power while his wife Patience ruled like a wicked queen (even though she wasn't elected). He surrounded himself with 'AGIPs' and people that knows nothing apart from 'stomach infrastructure'. The greatest mistake Buhari will make is not to carry along the key members of his party. Yes, he belongs to everybody and belongs to nobody but he shouldn't forget that he still belong to APC. Without God, through APC strategists, there's no way he would've become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria today. |
