More foreigners have continued to drum support for the release of Leah Sharibu who is being held in Boko Haram captivity for 200 days today and counting, for refusing to recant her Christian faith. Another British man took to the streets of London to stage a solo protest for the Dapchi schoolgirl who was kidnapped in February. This solo demonstration is coming two days after a member of Parliament of the United Kingdom, Tom Brake, held a protest in front of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK to bring attention to the #FreeLeah campaign. Last week, Leah Sharibu, the only Christian among the abducted 119 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to save her from captivity. All the girls who were captured were subsequently released, except five who reportedly died in detention, but Sharibu was held back for “refusing to renounce her faith”. Yesterday, president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta met with Donald Trump at the White House in Washington D.C to discuss issues affecting his country. President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta were formally received by their hosts President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump when they arrived at the White House. Speaking with journalists briefly before moving inside the presidential hall, Trump welcomed his Kenya counterpart and opined that his visit would strengthen their relationship. On his own, Uhuru thanked both the United States number one and first lady, noting that his visitation would strengthen their Trade and investment ties. Speaking further Kenyatta said that his major reason for coming was to seek for the United States assistance in fighting terrorism and improving their economy. Their meeting is coming after the Financial Times reported that Donald Trump referred to his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari as “lifeless” shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30. That meeting ended with Trump saying he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again, Financial Times reported citing three persons familiar with the matter. Advocates of closer US-Africa ties hope his encounter with the younger, more urbane Mr Kenyatta, 56, will breathe fresh life into a relationship with a region that Washington is seen to have neglected as other countries, notably China, develop ever-closer trade and investment ties with the continent. It was a shocking moment as six pupils, one male and five females alleged of witchcraft confessed uncontrollably in Danjuma area of Akure, Ondo state capital. According to Mercy-Babs Communications, it was gathered that Idayat, one of the oldest among the six, while being interviewed by journalist Omo Edema, confessed to have initiated her sister and the four others into witchcraft. How did she come about witchcraft? She said an elderly woman neighbour in their previous house initiated her a long time ago. “I can’t remember the year I was initiated into witchcraft, but can remember I joined them in the house we were living before at Idole, Akure. “One day a little girl like me then came to me and said I should accompany her somewhere which I obliged. She took me to an elderly woman where they gave me biscuit and groundnuts. I ate them there. Immediately I finished eating those things, they commanded me to go and begin to bring people’s glories to them”, Idayat said. When she was asked how many glories had she been able to submit to them, she said she only took the glories of her parents to them. “I have not collected many glories. I have only taken the glories of my mother and father to them”, Idayat said without mincing words. In her shocking revelations, the alleged witch confessed that a neighbour and member of the group identified as Unice had collected the glories of the whole house—an upstairs said to be about twenty rooms. “I didn’t touch anybody in this house. Eunice was the one who collected their glories. I and Eunice are highly ranked in our coven. We both possessed four different birds each in our bellies”, Idayat confessed. Idayat said all the witchcraft birds in her belly were used for afflicting her parents for punishing her for her wrong doings. “The first bird in my belly is used for troubling my mother for punishing me for my wrong doings. The second one is used for pushing my mother into heavy debt. The third one is used to invoke misfortune on my father while the fourth bird is used for sending my father out of his matrimonial home”, she said. The daughter of a Muslim cleric (Alfa) said they normally converge for their witchcraft meetings at available uncompleted buildings. Idayat’s younger sister, Kudirat also confessed to be a member of the group. According to her, she also concentrated her wicked afflictions on her parents too. The mother of the duo, Anuoluwapo had earlier spoken with Omo Edema and blamed the matter on the father of the children who she said had failed in his true parenting. The mother of three confirmed that her Alfa husband was insensitive to his children, adding that he had left home without a genuine reason. Eunice and all other alleged members of the coven confessed and confirmed their witcheries. On how they take people’s glories from them, they said they would fly in the spirit realm to carry the urine of their targets to their meeting which, in turn, would deprive them (targets ) of their glories. Their live confession was aired on ILE-AYE radio programme on Voice 89.9FM, Ado-Ekiti. A pastor has revealed what transpired between him and some police officers after his motor broke down on the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos. According to Adeniyi Adekunle, he had a flat tyre on the busy bridge and pulled over to change it before he was approached by a concerned policeman. The policeman who offered to help him, called his colleagues to help the stranded man change the car tyre and also helped him in washing his hand after the assistance. The pastor said to his surprise, the policemen didn't ask for a dime after the help as they bade him goodbye. Below is what the pastor wrote; "I was driving on third mainland bridge and had a flat tyre just before the Yaba turning. As I pulled off the road to change the tyre, a police man approached me asking what the problem was. Before long, he had called his colleagues and they were helping me change my car tyre. I must confess, I was a bit uncomfortable seeing the officers getting down to change the tyre, while I assisted. After changing the tyre, they gave me a pack of sachet water to wash my hands, then I was waiting for their next move... To my surprise, they simply wished me well, as I continued my journey, absolutely no request or demand for anything. So I want to say a very big thank you to officers Zakari, Adeyemi and Augustine Ameh for really demonstrating that the police can really be your friends. Just about the same time, another driver pulled over, who had missed his way; they were equally as helpful with such gracious attitude. With all the negative things that come out of the Nigerian Police Force, it was so amazing seeing these men of the Nigerian Police demonstrate such selflessness at no cost. To officers Zakari, Adeyemi and Augustine Ameh, I salute and honour you for your conduct.I pray you will see and enjoy the reward of the good investment you are making in this country.I hope this can somehow get to the force authorities. God bless you!" Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2018/08/police-helped-pastor-to-change-his-flat-tyre-on-third-mainland-bridge.html
