I type this with tears in my eyes. I decided to share say this here because if I need somebody to hear my voice, as I approach my end.
If I write this on Facebook, family and friends will see it and panic will set in, I don't want that. Devoid of our differences, Nairaland is also family to me.
The choices I made in life are mine, but the forces at work are overwhelming. I was weak to their manipulations.
All I ever wanted was to be an Engineer, to make mama proud and take care of my siblings.
Believe me I have Love in my heart. I wanted to just be a better version of myself but nothing seems to work.
When it seems like I am making a little progress, my desires are there to remind me that I am only but a prisoner.
It appears to me that I was created a failure. I failed my family once again, myself, Society and God almighty.
Now I am not afraid of death, I am only sad as I picture the face of Mama, Papa, Brothers and sisters crying while I lay motionless oblivious of everything( I know I will surely hear their wailing from the other side)
I don't want to be judged, but that isn't really my choice to make.
The next 3 weeks will be very crucial to my existence, if I survive it, then I will know that I will grow old and reach 95( I have always told anyone that cares to listen that I will live to 95).
I know they are not reading this now, and nobody that knows me personally is; I just want to tell mom that I love her. To dad; All I wanted was to make him proud. To my brothers and lovely sisters: I love you guys, take care of mom and dad and succeed where I have failed.

The white man's low quality book is not the same as the average Nigerian. I know someone who made $1k from one book in its first month in January but subsequent months was terrible and in may the book sold zero. Bad reviews killed it. He found a winning keyword and like most Nigerians, just wanted to milk kdp. If he had made that book a lot better, it would've been a long term success. The average Nigerian does not hire a proofreader or editor. They just write and churn out nonsense. From the book description you'd know it's a Nigerian. Draft2digital has already shown us the door and it's only a matter of time before Kdp does. Checkout Isaac Clifford on Amazon he writes on every single keyword he can think of. Churning out tens of books monthly from nonsense to nonsense. People like that will get us in trouble. Amazon does not like low quality things and when they trace low quality books to Nigerians, they'll close the door.

Most of what you said is valid, but I need to correct the notion that "nonsense books" are only published by Nigerians. As a matter of fact tens of thousands of nonsense, low-quality books are published by people from several countries, including the US, people who want to make quick bucks. So if at all Nigeria is banned by KDP, it won't be as a result of low-quality books, but more of as a result of fraudulent practice either committed via some manipulation of the system or because of Nigeria's global fraud reputation. Nonetheless, we "hope" Nigeria does not get banned by Amazon for the reasons highlighted. I really can't say why Draft2Digital decided to kick Nigeria out of its platform, I strongly believe it has more to do with Nigeria's global fraudulent profile than Nigerians putting out low-quality books, and if it is due to low-quality books, then accounts should be banned on an individual basis, because not all Nigerians publish low-quality books, and again, every other country likewise publish low-quality books.

Currently putting a recently published book through the launch process and the result has been impressive.

Given the recent change in the Publishing industry (audiobook Goldrush is officially over), it's even more important to extract every bit of performance from the ebook, paperbacks and hardcover editions of your book.

One way to maximize performance is via Amazon Advertising. This is a bit scientific and a bit artistic. It requires patience and constant monitoring/optimization to weed out the non-performing keywords and double-down on the keywords that are bringing sales.

Do this well, and you will see tremendous results in your bottom line

That being said, it's incredible to note that quite a number of people are still sleeping on publishing. You see people searching for legitimate ways to make money and change their lives.

Get this...in 2019, my total revenue from Publishing was over N50 million and N36 million of that was pure profit

If that is not life-changing I don't know what is.

Keep your head down and work hard and smart. With persistence and the right strategies, you'll eventually unlock your potential and earn the income you deserve.

N/B - The dollar to naira exchange rate has been an absolute joy for those who earn in foreign currency!

Yet another reason to stop sleeping and get publishing

Its been a while I made an update on this thread, I guess the reason is because I have been working more than ever at breaking even in publishing, learning, unlearning and relearning new strategies and testing them out to see what works. So yes, helioshay has said it all, the work has to be put in + smart work + hard work and I love to say + God's involvement = Success, Money, Joy etc. My screenshot is a little encouragement to those that feel discouraged, I know how I started, what drove me to publishing and thanks to helioshay who responded to my post about where to invest, he was the only one that suggested publishing that sounded great to my ears and today, I am in a better place in publishing than I was last year. It was not easy, so don't expect to cut corners, but much of the tactics and strategies I use today is as a result of being consistent in publishing and been open to new ideas. I don't make as much as others do, but in due time, I would get better results. Please don't message me privately to ask any questions, I also don't offer mentorship, simply start with what you have learnt and read so far, I wont respond if you message me but can respond on this thread.

PS. The ad stats is exclusive of organic sales obviously and more so, I dont outsource my books, I did for the first book I wrote but I realised it was not sustainable finacially if I wanted a very high quality book, so, I started writing my books my self because I am good at it and I design my covers myself using photoshop because I am good at colors and whats good and not. The morale of this is, do what you need to do to get to where you desire to get to, learn how to write quality books if you cant outsource and learn how to design good covers with any software that can help you get the job done.

Their main purpose of existence is to help you convert your book manuscript to digital formats and then distribute the books to popular publishing platforms (Including Amazon). They use to publish paperbacks to Createspace before but they stopped the service a long time ago.

I only have 3 keyword researched books and 6 non keyword researched ebooks (romance niche). Those 3 keyword research books bring in an average of $150 to $250 monthly on D2D. while about $40 to $70 on Google play. $300 plus on KDP. The 3 Keyword research books were ghost written and I handle the rest of the design and publishing process. These 3 keyword research books make up 90% of my publishing income.

Nice, keep it up A quick question, please. Does draft 2 digital support paperback or print books? I assume they do from their site but it's in beta phase. Have you published paperback on D2D. Secondly, can I publish my paperbacks from Amazon to D2D, given that paperbacks have no exclusivity with Amazon?
