Seun...I know you are trying as much as possible to contain and discourage tribalism..but that won't work if the only thing you could do is for a thread to be opened and you publicly announced that rule 2 has been change...I think one other way you can contain it is to lock or delete any thread that tends to be tribalistic and ban the person that created the thread for like a week and also let the person know the reason for the ban...this way you will still retain your figures in terms of numbers of thread created and sanity will be restored...should I decide to advertise here,I won't choose to do it here in the politics section even thou I can afford it...please consider this...

Bros it appears you don't have know about this issue. The oil been referred to wasn't crude oil, but palm oil. Then the people of tdhe Niger delta were the middlemen in palm oil trade.

Whether palm oil or crude oil , it was then under Eastern Zone......No Zone called that.....and Calabar was the capital of the eastern zone...

The south south was a seperate entity on its own called the Oil rivers protectorate. The capital was in calabar and it comprised of present day Cross river, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa state. South South is just a new name for the Oil rivers protectorate.

'Oil rivers protectorate' was just a name given to note places in the east where oil seem viable not a replacement for a region , the 'Oil rivers protectorate' still was under Eastern Zone. If we had continued with the name 'Oil rivers protectorate' a state like Imo with some oil and a lot of gas reserve would have been included in the 'Oil rivers protectorate' . 'Oil rivers protectorate' was just called to mark out areas where oil is viable, just like the 'The Barnett Shale ' in Taxas, USA where Shale is found viable. And also Calabar was simply the Capital of Nigeria....when British handed over. It was later the capital was moved to Lagos and there after Abuja......these two changes was not done by the europeans

Since Dr Junaid made the controversial statement, no tangible igbo has replied him in such a way FFK just did. Soyinka spoke, went to jail for their course, Today igbo hate Soyinka more than anything. Honestly, If Igbo are not coward and slave they should have replied Junaid. If the controversial statement had come from Yoruba I believe a lot of replies and protest would have been rolling out with ultimatum. Now! Who is the real coward? Yes , any region or tribe that feels marginalized including Yoruba can seek for secede in a proper way this time around.

Igbos have hardly survived on oil even the so called south south (Which is divisive because there is no cardinal point in the world called south south, though theres a sub called south-south-east (SSE)) South south them selves don't even enjoy their oil. majority of their oil blocs are not even owned by their sons. Will never be a mono economy like Nigeria.

It not about the name, but about the people. Even before there was anything like Nigeria, Southern Nigeria and Eastern Nigeria. The Europeans recognised the area called South South today. They formed the Oil rivers protectorate that was made up of all the 6 states now known as South South.

The Europeans did not form south south. Northern leaders did. What the Europeans formed was simply called Eastern Zone which includes the fraudulent division called South South

If your brothers in the north who ran this country for years and brought it to this stage we are had been thinking Nigeria will not be in this dilemma! years of sharing oil blocs and stealing of public funds without diversification by northerners have brought us to this stage!
