Politics / March 9: PDP Decries Killings, Violence, Militarization Of Polls By APC by chiangwar: 1:39pm On Mar 10, 2019

Press Statement

March 9: PDP Decries Killings, Violence, Militarization of Polls By APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns the heavy militarization, violence and killing of innocent Nigerians by the desperate All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 9, 2019 Governorship and state assembly elections.

The world watched with utter horror as soldiers under the command of the Buhari Presidency, hound, arrest, shoot, terrorize opposition figures and provide cover for APC thugs to unleash violence, kill opposition members, cart away electoral materials and disrupt polls in PDP strongholds, all in the bid to forcefully foist the APC on Nigerians.

This resort to bloodletting, violence and official high handedness by the APC in our electoral process has further confirmed that this administration has no regard for the lives of Nigerians and lawful processes, but only interested in seizing power by all means.

The PDP notes that never in the history of our nation had a general election recorded such bloodletting, violence and manipulations as triggered in the 2019 elections by the Buhari Presidency and the APC.

In Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Kogi, Benue, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, among others, soldiers brazenly aided APC thugs to unbridle violence, hijack electoral processes and write fictitious results for APC candidates.

In Rivers state, soldiers invaded INEC office in Bori, beat up and chased away PDP agents and assisted the APC in ballot stuffing and writing of results. The scenario was the same in Akwa-Ibom where security agents provided cover for APC thugs in their bid to hijack the electoral process.

In Imo state, APC thugs, accompanied by security agents disrupted polls in PDP strongholds and reportedly killed a PDP agents in Umudo/Umuwala area of Owerri.

In Ebonyi state, APC thugs aided by security agents, burnt down INEC facility in the state, seeing that their party do not have any foothold in the state.

In Ajaokuta, Kabba/Bunu, Olamaboro, Ijumu and several other local governments of Kogi state, APC thugs, assisted by soldiers invaded polling units and carted away ballot materials, a development which sparked off restiveness in some areas and resulted in mass destruction of property in the area.

In many other states, the APC, in connivance with INEC orchestrated the deliberate diversion of electoral materials meant for certain areas to unknown destinations, resulting in the frustration of electoral processes in the affected area.

We know that the APC plot to derail our hard- earned democracy and impose a fascist regime on our nation, but we are resolute in standing with Nigerians and all lovers of democracy to ensure that nobody, no matter how vicious, is allowed to vanquish our democracy.

In all, our party stands with Nigerians in their resilience at this defining moment in our political history. The PDP commends the courage of Nigerians in standing firm in defence of democracy, despite the machinations of the APC.

Politics / Presidential Election: PDP Demands Stoppage Of Collation Of Results By INEC by chiangwar: 8:11pm On Feb 26, 2019

Press Conference

Presidential Election: PDP Demands Stoppage of Collation Of Results By INEC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demands, in line with the commitment to a transparent, free and fair election, an immediate halt to the on-going collation of results by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), until data from the smart card reader accreditation at the polling units are made available to all the parties in the election.

The PDP predicates its demand on available evidence to the effect that data from the card readers are being reconfigured to suit the manipulations, rigging and over-voting already carried out during the election in some states by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Already the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus has communicated this position of our party to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

We have evidence from the smart card reader accreditation data that what is being announced by INEC has been seriously tampered with and manipulated.

In the meantime, we demand the immediate and outright cancellation of Presidential election results in Yobe, Zamfara, Nasarawa and Borno states as submitted by INEC presiding officers and ask for the conduct of fresh elections in these states.

In Yobe, the total number of votes submitted as cast was more than the number of accredited voters. Whereas the number of accredited voters was 601, 056, the total votes cast was 775, 449.

This is a clear case of over-voting which, by the provisions of the Electoral Act, renders the election null and void. In such instance, the law provides for another election on a day to be fixed by INEC.

In Zamfara state, no actual voting took place and there was no single result sheet in any polling unit in the entire state. There was an arrest in Shinkafi Local Government, where an APC member was caught thump-printing ballot papers inside his house.

Results from the presiding officer from Zamfara were concocted and allocated according to the wishes of the leadership of the APC and INEC.

The PDP therefore demands the outright deletion of the results from Zamfara from INEC records and a conduct of free, fair and credible Presidential election in Zamfara state.

Also in Borno state, there was no election but a figure writing exercise and allocation of results according to the whims and caprices of the APC leaders. We also demand the outright deletion of the results from Borno from INEC records and a conduct of free, fair and credible Presidential election in Borno state.

In Nasarawa, the PDP demands the immediate restoration of our over 157, 000 lawful and valid votes which were unlawfully and arbitrarily cancelled by INEC and the announcement of the actual results from the field.

Similarly, the PDP demands an immediate restoration of our over 79, 000 valid votes which were unlawfully cancelled by INEC in Kogi state and the announcement of the authentic results inclusive of the restored 79,000 votes

In the FCT, the PDP demands the restoration of 27,000 valid votes unlawfully and arbitrarily cancelled by INEC and a declaration of the authentic result, inclusive of our restored 27,000 votes.

In Plateau, the PDP demands the immediate restoration of our over 30,000 lawful and valid votes, which were unlawfully cancelled particularly in Jos North and the declaration of the genuine results as delivered at the polling units inclusive of our 30,000 restored votes.

The PDP therefore calls on Nigerians to disregard the results until INEC provides the data from the smart card reader accreditation at the polling units, conducts fresh election in Borno, Yobe and Zamfara states as well as restore our votes in Plateau, FCT, Kogi and Nasarawa states.

The PDP maintains that from the actual votes delivered at the polling units, which we all have, Nigerians clearly and unequivocally gave their mandate to Atiku Abubakar.

Politics / Peace Accord Flagrantly Violated Secondus Screams by chiangwar: 9:03pm On Feb 22, 2019
Peace accord flagrantly violated Secondus screams

........says FG and APC have declared war on PDP on PDP leaders across the country

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has said that the peace accord signed by the two frontline Presidential candidates, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP. Is virtually dead.

Prince Secondus said that all the terms of the agreement for peace has been broken by the ruling APC who has deployed military and the Police operatives to arrest and detain PDP. leaders across the country.

The National Chairman said that the party expects the Peace Committee and the international community to note the declaration of war on PDP leaders across the country by over zealous security operatives specially raised for this purpose as they operate in violation of the peace accord.

The National Chairman said that the APC and President Buhari are not disposed for the peace as they have flagrantly violated the terms of the agreement.

Prince Secondus said in a statement from his media office that reports reaching him from Kwara, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Kano Kaduna and other states show that PDP leaders are being harassed with arrest and detention by security operatives on flimsy reasons.

He noted that while APC is using military and Police personnel to chase PDP leaders across the country, they continue to give protection to APC leaders as they ferry money and election materials to various locations.

"Private jets belonging to APC leader in Lagos have been stationed at the airports protected by government operatives as money is being moved from the Central bank of Nigeria, CBN, to states.

The PDP boss said that General Abdulsalmi Abubakar led peace committee should take copious notice of all the happenings and note that APC and President Buhari are not disposed to any peace accord.

Prince Secondus said that all the ingredients of peace have been disregarded by the APC operatives who have decided to even run foul of the Electoral Act in their desperation to cling on to power even when it's obvious that Nigerians have turned their back on them.

Being Excerpts Of A World Press Conference By The National Chairman Of The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Prince UcheSecondus Marking The End Of Presidential And National Assembly Campaigns Today February, 14, 2019 At The Party’s National Campaign Headquarters, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja

AN OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIANS

Gentlemen and ladies of the press,

As we round up the Presidential campaigns today, we have invited you to give you an update on the situation of things ahead of Saturday’s all important election.

We are grateful for very many things that the Almighty God has bestowed upon us.

These great gifts include a beautiful country, a resourceful people and important role to be a beacon for the continent of Africa and the World.

However, the promise of Nigeria has never been fully realized because of poor leadership and bad governance.
Each election provides us with an opportunity to right this wrong and truly take our place in the world.

This election more than any other provides an opportunity for Nigeria to get on the right path.

The challenge that we now face is one of expectation. Those entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that the expression of the people's will is made manifest, have time and again failed to demonstrate good faith. We expect better than we are getting,

A sick narrative has emerged, one of systemic and systematic rigging, manipulation of the true record of the voters register and a cabal you can no longer trust with the trajectory and growth of our democracy and Nation.

This is the evidence of bad faith by those managing the election and the Government of the day:

1. Systemic Manipulation of the Voters Register

It is clear that INEC did not, in fact, do a cleanup of the register of voters before it published it. In previous INEC administrations this eventuality was mitigated by administrative arrangements wherein a voter did accreditation in the morning and voted in the afternoon - so if a voter wanted to vote twice, say at A and B, they would have to go to A and get accredited, then go to B and also get accredited, and then go back to A to vote and the then go to B to vote - an onerous regimen that prevented cultivating. In the new continuous voting regime, this administrative support measure has been disposed of specifically to facilitate multiple voting by a huge number of APC voters...

2. Abuse of PVC

The Voter's register contains the data of dead voters.

Permanent Voters Cards for dead voters were printed and distributed nationwide.

Fellow Citizens, Government data shows that the gross death rate in Nigeria is 12.5 per 1000 lives
We have evidence that over 1,050,051 dead voters will vote in this election.

The decision that dead voters will cast ballots has been taken by INEC and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The idea of ghost voters is consistent with the nature of this virtual President.

3. Registration of Foreigners as Voters
There has been a coordinated approach to register foreigners as voters, mainly from Niger and Cameroon.

That is why INEC has established so many polling Units along the border with Cameroon and Niger.

That is despite the fact that population data does not justify the move
4. Manipulation of Security Agencies

As we prepare for the general elections on Saturday, multiple intelligence sources available to us in PDP shows that All Progressives Congress, APC, in conjunction with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, through their ICT situation room have concluded plans to manipulate the outcome of Saturday's election in the followings ways.

1. By deliberately corrupting the INEC voter's register to induce voter's suppression in PDP’s stronghold operations areas with the aim of disenfranchising at least four voters through corrupting of their four names on the voters' register. The strategy is to create artificial problems wherein at least four registered voters can be disfranchised in PDP stronghold areas. The target is to adequately limit the estimated members of PDP who would want to vote in their areas.
2. There is a deliberate ploy to disrupt Internet services and jam cell tower coverage ostensibly to prevent Nigerians from covering the elections via social media.
3. There is also confirmed intelligence showing that critical PDP players in this election are to be earmarked, arrested and quarantined to a particular location to give way for the elections to be rigged.
4. The other intelligence available to the party also shows that some uniforms of para-military and military operatives particularly the Army and Police have been produced in large numbers for use by civilians during the voting period.
5. To send faulty card reader machine to certain identified PDP strongholds and record a deliberate slow screening of voters to frustrate and discourage them.
6. They have packaged large sums of foreign currency to induce voters and security and INEC operatives.
7. We also have on good authority that all the electoral frauds via the ICT which the APC has mapped out are being coordinated by a highly placed government official (body bag) with the help of some foreigners inside an apartment in the government House and other locations in Kaduna state

We have deep respect for our security personnel who are sworn to protect and defend our constitution and the integrity of our nation.

President Buhari administration, however, is determined to subvert the impartiality of our security agencies.

It has recently moved personnel to areas along the border, where they will be employed to create violence, stuff ballots and aid Non-Nigerians to vote in a predetermined manner.

5. Misuse of State Resources
We have all witnessed the extravagant amounts displayed in this campaign by APC in advertisements, billboards and the use of State media as an instrument of the party.

The use of public resources for partisan purposes is unprecedented.

6. Announcement of Results

Despite resources being deployed to set up an electronic system to announce results, this has been ruled out by INEC.

Mainly because the President himself has refused to sign the law that would have made this possible.

The plan is to announce results in the way it was done recently in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Where the winner was declared the loser and the loser was declared the winner.

Let us be clear.

Stealing this election is stealing the future of the youth of Nigeria and stealing the future of this country. It will subvert the Promise of Nigeria.

Fellow Nigerians, the reason why PDP and its Presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku decided to run is to safeguard this beautiful promise.

It is because of our faith in our people that we are still part of this election.

However, the hour has now come that we call upon you citizens to do your duty and protect your right to a decent future;

If we allow the Government and INEC to continue on their way, we are guaranteed another false start, and tragically that means a Nigeria that does not work. A Nigeria that never leads. A Nigeria whose resources are wasted in perverted uses.

In the coming days, we will give direction on the course that the Nation should take, irrespective of the wishes of the small minority who do not care about our country.

In the immediate term we demand as follows:

1. That the current Government respects the will of the people.

2. That INEC calls an immediate meeting of the political parties participating in the Presidential election to appoint representatives drawn from the parties that will oversee their work.

3. That the peace committee prevails on the Federal Government and various agencies involved to go the right way of free and fair elections.

4. That INEC to clean up their voter's register and retain for accreditation and voting during the elections only credible voter's register.

5. That the various security agencies to remain unbiased, fair and transparent on any matter concerning this election and also for them to stop unwarranted harassment and intimidation of opposition.

One of the primary duties of that oversight team will be to address all the issues around the PVC.

The oversight team shall ensure that INEC identifies and deletes all Ghost Voters from the register and publishes the unique serial numbers of all cards and computers being used to verify voters in all polling units in the country. The list should be availed to the parties, media houses and observers. The oversight body should report to the Nation within 24 hours, to foster confidence in an already compromised process.

3. Election Observer Missions should immediately release a preliminary report based on their assessment of the pre-election situation and publish a verdict.

4. That the security agencies foil the planned use of foreign voters from Niger and Cameroon.

Whatever our differences, we have always had bonds that bind us together; the trouble of Nigeria has always been lack of leadership.

Before I end this press conference, may I remark on the letter written by the minister of justice and attorney general of the federation to the chairman of INEC seeking the postponement of the election in Zamfara state?

1. The AGF letter is part of APC’s design to arm-twist INEC and judiciary to take illegal action in their favor.
2. What the AGF is seeking is not backed by law.
3. The AGF is an interested party on this matter and has no moral right to advice INEC.
4. The inability of the APC to field candidates due to self-inflicted crisis when other parties did within the stipulated period for the election is not covered by section 38 & 39 of the Electoral Act 2010 which the AGF is relying on his dubious advice.
5. I therefore call on INEC to follow the dictates of the law and continue in its plan to achieve a credible election.
We in PDP, with Atiku Abubakar stand to lead. Join us!

God Bless Nigeria. God Bless each and every Nigerian. We shall all work for a better tomorrow

Signed

Politics / Forget Onnoghen; Let’s Talk About Buhari’s Asset Declaration Fraud by chiangwar: 11:03am On Feb 14, 2019
Forget Onnoghen; Let’s Talk about Buhari’s Asset Declaration Fraud

By Farooq Kperogi
Buhari’s asset declaration fraud is more damning than Onnoghen's, yet it is Onnoghen who has been illegally “suspended” and pilloried in the media. In this piece, I’ll show you why Buhari is a double-dyed scammer who should be in jail.

First, it was Buhari who voluntarily said he would publicly declare his assets. The Punch of February 20, 2015, reported him to have said: “I pledge to PUBLICLY declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees to publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for an appointment.” However, several months after getting into power, he refused to declare his assets publicly.

In the early days of the regime, I frantically reached out to many people in the president’s inner circle with whom I have a personal relationship and begged them to prevail upon the president to make good his campaign promise. When they weren’t forthcoming, I wrote a column on June 13, 2015, titled “Mishandling of Asset Declaration May Doom Buhari’s Presidency.” I republished it weeks later.

The very first paragraph of the column, which seems pretty prescient in retrospect, read: “Although many of us still nourish the hope that President Buhari’s administration will represent a substantive departure from the blight of the past, Buhari has so far done little to inspire confidence that he will live up to the hopes we have invested in him. Perhaps the biggest germinal error he has made, which might haunt his administration, is his seeming reluctance to publicly declare his assets, contrary to the promise he made during his campaigns.”

After the column was published a second time, one close aide of the president told me in confidence that Buhari would NEVER publicly declare his assets because it would demystify him. I asked why and he said it's because the man is very wealthy and that his base in the North and his supporters down South would feel betrayed if they knew how much he’s actually worth. He said Buhari declared close to a billion naira in his asset declaration form and has choice property all over the country worth billions of naira. What was worse, he said, Buhari didn’t even officially declare everything. That was when it dawned on me that Buhari was a deodorized and carefully packaged scammer.

For instance, Buhari routinely received generous donations from foreign governments during previous runs for present. The Saudi Arabian government has given him the equivalent of up to two billion naira in two election cycles, and he always instructed his personal aide to deposit the money into his personal bank account. The late Muammar Gaddafi also once gave him at least $3 million and he deposited it into his personal bank account. He was also the sole signatory to the donations that everyday Nigerians made to his campaign through scratch cards between 2014 and 2015. The money was never used for the presidential campaign, and it has not been accounted for up to now. (An old woman in Kebbi State donated her entire life saving of N1 million that she got from selling kosai (bean cake) and died in penury a year later. Buhari didn’t even acknowledge her death!). Buhari did not declare all these monies in his asset declaration form, yet he had close to a billion naira in cash in his declaration form that he is hiding from the world.

Now, here is where the fraud starts. In December 2014, Buhari had said, “I have at least one million naira in my bank, having paid N5.5 million to pick my form from my party APC. I have around 150 cattle because I am never comfortable without cows. I have a house each in Kaduna, Kano, and Daura which I borrowed money to build. I never had a foreign account since I finished my courses in the USA, India and the UK. I never owned any property outside Nigeria. Never.”

They say a liar must have a good memory. But Buhari is a bad liar. After so much pressure from many of us, Buhari’s strategists came up with a plan to deceive Nigerians and deflect attention from Buhari’s asset declaration fraud. His spokesman was told to issue an intentionally vague and incomplete “public asset declaration” that would leave room for plausible deniability in case he is caught.

That was why there were no specifics other than unhelpfully broad claims that the president had a house in Abuja (which he earlier said he didn't have during the campaigns), Kano, Kaduna, Daura and Port Harcourt; some cattle and livestock; “not less than 30 million naira” (how more deceptively vague can you get than that? Recall that a few months earlier he said he had only million naira left in his account!); “a number of cars” (we weren’t told how many); and so on. Compare Buhari’s "public asset declaration" with the late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua's more transparent, public declaration and the face of Buhari’s fraud will become even more nakedly apparent.

Many Nigerians weren’t deceived by the fraud. They asked that he make public a copy of his declaration like Yar’adua (who didn’t even campaign to publicly declare his assets) did. In response, the president’s spokesperson said, “As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves.” It’s been more than two years, and the declaration hasn’t been released to the public.

What is worse, I have confirmed from friends at the Code of Conduct Bureau that the presidency took away Buhari’s asset declaration form from the place. So, get this: Buhari is the ONLY public officer whose asset declaration does not exist at the Code of Conduct of Bureau. Of course, it’s because he wants to hide his fraud from scrutiny.

This double-dyed fraud becomes even more annoying when you remember what Buhari says when he is asked to publicly show his asset declaration form as he promised he would. During the one and only media chat he did as president, he challenged journalists to use their skills in “investigative journalism” to find the form. What sort of dumb logic is that? On your own, you promised to publicize your asset declaration form. Then you took it away from the only place it’s legally supposed to be, and you now challenge journalists to use their investigative skill to find it. You want them to invade your home, hold you at gunpoint, and force you to produce it?

Well, journalists have used the best resources they have to find the form. They invoked the Freedom of Information Act and requested the CCB to release Buhari’s asset declaration form. On September 21, 2016, Code of Conduct Bureau Chairman Sam Saba said the Bureau couldn’t release Buhari’s asset declaration form because the law that set up the bureau forbids him from making the forms public without Buhari’s consent.

That’s why the Bureau also declined requests to release the asset declaration forms of other high-ups in the Buhari regime.
Now, how did Dennis Aghanya, Buhari’s former media aide and current SA on justice, get access to CJN Onnoghen’s asset declaration form when the law forbids the public disclosure of public officials’ asset declaration forms without their consent? Why isolate someone for punishment for an offense that everyone, including the people meting out the punishment, is guilty of?

Secondus declares el rufai a terrorists, wants him arrested.

......Atiku, others assure Lagosians of freedom from their Emperor.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has described the Governor of Kaduna state Mallam Nasir el Rufai as a terrorist who should be arrested and sent to the International Criminal Court of Justice.

Prince Secondus said that Governor El rufai has shown himself to be the most dangerous person for democracy in the country with his terrorist language and threats to local and international election observers and he should be arrested for his extreme hate words and divisive tenencies.

The National Chairman who was addressing thousands of Jubilant PDP supporters at the Tafawa Belewa Square in Lagos on Tuesday as the Presidential train arrived the nation's commercial capital, said that the Kaduna state Governor is the anchor of the All Progressives Congress, APC's nefarious plans intended to manipulate this election.

Prince Secondus whose media office issued a statement from the rally reiterated his earlier warning to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu that this election must not be rigged if they are to avert crisis in the country.

The National Chairman said that intelligence available to the party shows that the APC and the government have concluded plans to arrest and obstruct the movement of PDP leaders as part of the grand design to clear the way for their rigging strategy.

He mentioned some states like Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Rivers where special security squad has been despatched to help the APC implement their illicit electoral fraud.

"Let me warn, Nigeria will not accept a rigged result and rigging by any means is a recipe for crisis in the country, therefore Prof Yakubu better be warned.

Prince Secondus told Lagosian that a vote for pdp on February 16 and on March, 2, will mark the restoration of their freedom from the Emperor that has held them down since 1999.

He assured that an Atiku Abubakar presidency would mean restoration of Lagos lost glory as with him industries would be reactivated and more jobs created.

"Atiku Abubakar would be in charge of his Presidency, he would be Commander in Chief, he will not allow college of Presidents because he has the capacity and has been tested in public and private sector.

The Presidential candidate Atiku in his own remarks to the people, assured Lagosians that if he is voted into office, he will transform Lagos and bring it to the correct status as the commercial capital of the country.

The Senate President and the Director General of the campaign, Dr Bukola Saraki told Lagosians that APC vehicle has already knocked engine and the people should disembark from it and embrace the in coming Presidency that would be under a competent Atiku Abubakar who has all it takes to rescue Nigeria.

The Vice Presidential candidate Peter Obi and the wife of the candidate, Titi Abubakar as well as the former Governor of Ogun state Gbenga Daniel and former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Olabode George, the gubernatorial candidate In Lagos Jim Agbaje all addressed the rally making case for a vote for the PDP in all elections in Lagos..

The PDP returns to Abuja on Wednesday for further strategizing before heading to Adamawa state on Thursday for the grand finale.
