Nairaland / General / Re: FG To Ban Commercial Motorcycles Nationwide by chiboy429(m): 10:11pm On Oct 27, 2014
stinggy:
As much as I believe okadas should be banned, my fear is 'We are not there yet'. No alternatives for now. I think there should be reliable loan scheme(at all levels of government) for youths to acquire cheap taxis so as to support livelihood since jobs aren't forthcoming, we can introduce tricycles as they are safer, but more importantly, roads should be fixed.

And this is how I think this will go:

After the ban on Okada riders, a means that gives about 1.2 million people job, this FG will then provide three 48-sitter buses to each state, after this, GEJ will go on air to announce to the world that he has given 2.5 million people job...
And that's what they call 'Fresh Air'

The question now is how do you practicalise or make the means you did mention a feasibility as a realiseable goal as a case study ,your idea is pretty cool no skepticism but then it is not enough to put down theoritical axioms . The area am so spetacular about is the means you talked about , how do we create this means . I think this is where the ideas is most needed .

please your ideas / suggestions are important ,dont see it as a medium to denigrate you, thanks

Business is good. But an education helps also. Since he's in 300, why are you guys advising him to drop out? What will it take to just finish school, then fully face the business? The people paying his fees since, are they idiots? He should fulfill his obligation. At least, have something to fall back on. If he had not started at all, that is a different case. Who would be happy to spend money for years on a child's education only for him to throw it all away at the last minute? People com here to talk of bill gates. You must not be a drop-out to be a billionaire.

Exactly ismokeweed ,you on point this is just what am just trying to imply in other sentence ,elxandre is misconstrue me . It is very wrong for him to hail the guy in question for such a decision .

Wooow hadizy i can feel how desperate you are to pull your bro back on course, just take it easy everything is going to be fine

Elxandre:
^^^^^ what do you mean by cowardice?
I only see braveness and a man who believes in his dreams.
Now this is the ultimate MAN, not daunted about what the world will say about his decision, not even thinking of failure as a possibility.

The only problem here is that he is just one year away from graduation, let him realize this, and try motivating him to go for this last year, even if the degree may eventually become as good as tissue paper to him.
Three years of hard work, just a year to go, keywords!

Dont get me wrong mahn., the area i termed cowardice is his present level in school, what am tying to say here is that he should try as much as he could no matter how challenging he could be after all according to the op he is brilliant elxandre do you know what it means to be at this level ,if it was to be in year one ,we would have said wooow congratulations ,you did realised yourself on time on what you want to become or want in life ,

What he needs now is little encouragement ,by the time he is through he can look for one old carpet in one of the rooms in his village and dump the paper there,.

op have you tried calling a family gathering to look into the matter ,. Is your parents aware i think this is a good begining. Then if mom dad, close relative ,you or other other person you think he listen to speak to him and he still stands on his ground then so be it because he will definitely make it too. You dont need to kill yourself but then you should try calling the family together and let them say something too

Well hadzy, since you have notice and realised his newly developed trait ,first and foremost you dont need to be over reactive about this issue or better say forcefull if you must arrive at a very realistic result ,.

What do i mean ,take it gently .try to know the root cause of his new change, having known that though may sound easy ,but if you take appropriate approach i believe he will feel free to let you know ,.
Then again, try to let him know one thing ,giving up or droping at this level is cowardice ,encourage him to atleast get the degree even if he wouldnt want to use it any more ,who knows tomorrow, so as to show that all the stress, the resources ,energy and time that he has commited right from yearone will not just be wasted like that . So many promising people /students has been yearning for a chance to be in the higher institution but couldnt due to one reason or the other.

He has reasons ,no doubt . Am not trying to imply that our destiny or success is solely based on bsc or whatever degree one is pursueing ,not every one will have a degree before he can put food on the table ,so many instances has prooved that wrong

So on a serious note hadizy, try as much as you can for him to see the reason to atleast complete and get his certificate it is very very essential no ,matter how serious his conviction may because it will be a foolhardy after geting to this lenght and quit. Takke it slowly and gently ,.he can combine the two task and still do just fine. Let me stop her e to get response from you

Bro thumbs up ,quantum is hell ,about 3 or more faint cases were recorded in the last concluded quantum mechanics exams here in my school ,this is true and not a joke when there woke up it was discovered that was their last chance in the school ,after spending like one hour in the exam hall without writing something tangible ,they gave up .

It depends on what you were taught. Maybe yours was a case of read handout and hit the exam hall.

I remember an instance when a lecture extracted questions from some antiquated textbooks. Expectedly the general performance was woeful.

Bro its not what you think initially no lecturer will give you handout and leave you in uniuyo ,if they even give materials to take home it would have been better . What they would give you in class is confusing than whatever you may think

Quantum mechanics is the bomb ,if you are not quantised no way in that course . its a year four course down here in uniuyo. Full with enough schrodinger wave equations SWE and the rest bro leave that course

University of Uyo, one of the toughest universities out there.

The faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (NAS) was an Afghanistan of some sort during my days. I hope those sadistic lecturers have changed.

Getting a first class from Uyo then is as improbable as having a camel pass through the eye of a needle. I don't know whether that has changed.

Are you an alumni of uniuyo?

Thats outrightly ,correct . University of uyo is a hell , i thought it was a joking ground in my year one but i woke up from my day dreaming in second semester that same year when i saw my mth111 result . Nobody told me where i am ,thank the creator i realise myself on time.

Bro those sadists are still there in mathematics and statistics department ,one thing general about them is that they dont give a damn about their outfit always on what i call rags frustrating students . immediately you see them in class you will jump out of your skin. We are roasting here any new dawn or semester my heart will just cut . What about exam period .,men will turn to walking dead.

I remember in my year one ,all the babes with us that always makeup ,paint nails and all the rest today the few surviving ones comes to school with low cuts ,never minding the dress they put on while coming to school ,no body will tell you that there is fire on the mountain.

The most annoying thing those sadists does is deprive you of time ,their time runs faster than even the speed of light .

2hours is approximately 20mins normal time ,tell me how you will perform within this short time and come out with flying colours . The school management should look into this.

Although tough courses normally come accros my ways here in tuskite republic . Some of them as a result of the lecturers sheer frustration to the students and delibrate ignorance in the course . I have done so many hard courses but aside from them the one that prooved most challenging was nuclear physics ,full of pooves, caculations and manipulations to the extent that if you dont start solving and writing in the air while walking you havent started reading and initiated in the course ,still yet somany failures when the result came out. the lecturer frustrated so many students ,he doesnt care if you are having the last spill in school because of this course many students never graduated.

,funny but painfull enough a strong crusade titled MY FATHER ,MY FATHER NUCLEAR PHYSICS MUST DIE ,was organised by joint student fellowship pastors and students .

Where they invited prophets ,and men of god but that never changed anything. Come and see tears that day the result was pasted in my department especially those that had consumed their last chance in the school. I thanked the grace that made it possible for me to scale through the hurdle ,i had a C . Infact as i am writing am the happiest one today
