This is quite inquisitive, well to answer your question, we all know the sun is made up of fusions of Helium and Hydrogen gases, while it is stagnant and the solar system rotates and revolves around the sun, the light from the sun is just focused on our own solar system. While the outer space or spaces beyond our universe which stretches to billions of miles remains dark.

I think the Space you mentioned to be dark carries same illumination as illuminated Space (on earth).

The illusion of darkness is brought about by the state of matter or atoms in that "dark" Space which is different from that in illuminated Space. Where there is light, there is Matter which reflects or causes an 'obstruction' to those energies (called "light" for it to be humanly visible.

In other words, there is light in that darkness, the things that makes sunlight visible in Earth's atmosphere are just 'absent' in "dark" spaces.

Another reason we can't see light in space is because of a human morphological condition where our eyes are not able to accommodate light in given colors, shades, and conditions while other creatures like dogs are able to achieve this.
