I thought death was just the soul leaving the body as it usually does during sleep but this time just permanently.

Does this angel of death get involved in death of animals and insects also or just humans.

He is always around for most other people when they shed the physical body in the event we call death.

They see him in any form he wishes to adopt at times, and people get to say their goodbyes.

The Mahanta plays this role for Eck students. There is a difference...

By Angel and Death, do you mean it as a figure of speech or you believe there is actually a being responsible for death.

The actual being who does that service. Its their Assigned job.

This encounter underscored the importance of the training the Mahanta and the other ECK Masters were giving me. It helped me appreciate the importance of the strong waves of the Light and Sound that I’d been getting.

That was the day my healing was completed. I was covered in sweat, but I rose, went to the bathroom to shower, and danced around the living room, singing the chorus of a popular song “Children's Melody” by the Golden Echoes, an Eckankar music group:

Love Mahanta.
Love Mahanta.
Have faith in the Light and Sound,
And trust in the Sugmad. (2ce)

The entity screams, as if a red hot rod has been driven into its extremities. Like a dangling doll tied to the tail board of a lorry traveling at top speed, she flies and disappears, shrieking, “I’ll come back!”

Immediately, I came back to the body.

“Wow!” I screamed out loud. “Imagine the Angel of death coming at me disguised as a pretty woman! Thank you, Mahanta, for helping me with that.”

I repeat my request: “In the name of the Mahanta identify yourself!” When she doesn’t respond, I shift focus to the space where the face of this messenger of death is supposed to be.

I visualize the glowing ‘EK’ symbol and place it at a point on her forehead. She shrieks and the hood falls off.

I'm eager to see who it is but I see only a black void where a face is supposed to be. It’s pitch black, like a mannequin without facial features.

I chant “Mahanta! Mahanta! Mahanta!”

Instantly, I transform into a warrior:
“Identify yourself! Who are you?”
There’s no answer from this mysterious woman.

The next thing she does is to pull at me; not by touch, but by the use of invisible psychic energy. Her mission is to drag me to the other world, where I’m not ready to go.
Telepathically, I say to her: “I only follow the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master. Who are you?”

At the mention of the Mahanta, she stops, as if frozen. I’m now certain this is the Angel of death. She has come to take me away. Using the form of a woman is deceptive, but very clever.

I’ve always known the Angel of death to appear in the form of an old monk or priest.

I’m in the room simply as a ball of light. The environment is suffused with a golden radiance. I love the sight and the feeling.

The Inner Master alerts me to a dark presence. A few paces away, I can see the figure of a woman. She is dressed in a plain skirt and blouse. Her hips are wide. I can’t see her face. It is hidden by what looks like a hood.

She beckons at me to follow. I’m studying her. I realize this is not an ECK Master. There’s a feeling of hesitation in her body language. She appears to be afraid to come close to me.

I know there’s a golden white light coming out of, and surrounding me. But that shouldn’t repel another being except they’re working for the Kal.

Suddenly, her temperament changes. “You have to come with me. It’s time for you to come with me. Your time is up in the world. You have to follow me!”
Now, I know what this is all about. It’s death.

In fact, a few weeks before, I’d left a note for my sister telling her who to contact in case she found that I’d left the body permanently. She was also a conscious student of the Mahanta.

Today, she had gone to the store to get some groceries. I was alone in the apartment half listening to the whispers of a voice that wasn’t pleasant to the ears.

I closed my eyes, and began to sing HU. After a while, the tightening feeling subsided. Was I having a heart attack so early in life? I was soon to find out. I went into quiet contemplation, and was soon out of the body.

One day, I’d gone to the restroom when I suddenly became faint. I managed to get back to my room and flopped on the bed, gasping for breath.

Something was tightening my chest. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on the radiant form of the Master. Instead of his voice I heard a whisper, in a rasping, unpleasant tone:

“You have to die. You are no longer wanted in the physical. You have died to this world.”
Well, that didn’t sound too bad, except that there was a snag. No one should tell me that but the Mahanta.

Whenever my time was up, I expected the Master to let me know. I’d already seen that death was a passage into the higher worlds; an initiation into greater duties, freedom, and responsibilities.

He secretly wondered how I had acquired the power to attract the birds of the skies around me. Not having the guts to approach me, he went to my landlord to complain about the young tenant who was wielding “occult powers” beyond their own understanding.


My landlord was the most senior of the Imams. From reports, and my personal encounters with him in the inner realms, he was also adept at the use and abuse of psychic powers. Prominent politicians travelled from near and far to consult with him.

Legend had it that he travelled to Egypt and other exotic places to acquire powers, although this was not part of his duties as an Islamic priest. He was simply a psychic practitioner in disguise.

Life opened up more. My sister was a shining companion, providing good company along the way.

She was a great blessing to me at this time. Shortly after I called on the Mahanta regarding my loneliness, I woke up one morning to the enchanting chirping of numerous birds by my window side.

From then on, they never missed their morning visits, sometimes swooping into the house like locusts. They would sing, dance, and flutter about inside the apartment the moment the door opened slightly.

Then they would settle by my window, singing inspirational songs, which did a lot to cheer me up. At first, they were just two, then their number increased to more than a hundred.

This attracted the attention of my neighbor and his wives.

Angel of Death Visits


After that, the long spell of a downturn in my material fortunes, as well as my health, began to pick up slowly in the later part of the year.

The spiritual healing I was getting in one of the clinics in the inner was paying off. I could stand and walk to the balcony for some fresh air and watch people go about chores that were now like miracles for me.

I sing HU softly while I visualize the radiant form of the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master, occupying the same space as the entity.

I change my chant to MA-HAN-TA. This time, I have only the pure Love of God for it, the same love that I hold in my heart for the Mahanta and every Soul created by God.


The result is astounding. The whole place is suddenly enveloped in a brilliant white Light. The entity howls and screams as the Light and Love of the Mahanta pulverizes it. Soon, there’s not a shred of it left. It has vanished like a mirage.

As I’m returning to the body, I hear the Mahanta say, “You did well. Always remember, it is not about you. It’s always about the Mahanta.”

“As you have been taught several times, you’re brought into such situations in order for the person who carries such negativity to meet the Liberator of all Souls.

Never mix it up with your emotions and ego. It is not about you. It is between the Mahanta and the Soul involved.

The Inner Master always has every situation under control, if you learn to release it to him.”
I spent about thirty minutes doing some specialized spiritual exercises to be sure I was in the right frame for another journey to the dark regions.

I jumped up in bed, sat up straight, sang HU and went into contemplation, asking the Master why the whole mission had been a mess.


“You played into the trap of the Kal agent,” the Inner Master said. “You descended to its level of anger and hate. Those are the negative energies the entity was sending back at you.

That’s why the HU appeared not to be working. You were not one with the HU, but your anger and fear made you one with the entity.”

I woke up with my body covered in sweat. My heart pounding hard against the rib cage. I came close to being killed, I thought. This feeling soon gave way to that of embarrassment. Have I failed a co-workership assignment?

Did I run away like a cowardly dog, tail between its legs? The weight of failure was more convoluted because the entire clan of psychic slaves I’d set free would have lost their short-lived freedom.

Their captors would descend hard on them after realizing that their lily-livered liberator had taken flight.

This creates a momentary absent-mindedness that almost costs me my life. Unknown to me, I’ve slipped into the level of anger and fear.

I’m angry at the Master for not coming to my aid. I’ve also become fearful that I’m going to die. At this point, a powerful bolt of dark energy streams towards me.

Just before it makes impact, I come back to the body.

I only have a brief moment to observe the scrawny, twisted shape of the entity before it strikes. I swiftly dodge and resume singing HU with new vigor.

I’m surprised by the viciousness of the attack. The battle is devoid of any direct contact between us. The weapons are made purely of visualization and the energies of life, itself.


The entity appears to have amassed a heavy load of Kal (negative) energy and has enough with which to attack me.

I’m supposed to be a source of the Holy Spirit, the Light and Sound, which are targeted at the entity. The battle rages on and on.

I motion for them to gather themselves, file up behind me, and follow my lead. The only way out of the grove is a narrow pathway hedged in by ancient stone walls.

The space between the walls is about three feet. I notice the invisible barrier is all over the pathway, like spider webs. Only the Light and Sound can cut through.

We make our way slowly and cautiously through the labyrinthine pathway. After what seems like an endless journey, we emerge in an open space with brighter illumination.

I usher the prisoners out, directing them to start a journey towards a better part of the colony.

I’m getting ready to conclude my assignment when I hear a hideous shriek from somewhere nearby

My assignment is to free these captives and lead them into a place where they can improve their lot.

To do this, I have to break through the invisible barrier surrounding the fortress. This can only be done by cutting the web with another invisible force―the ECK (Holy Spirit).

I begin singing HU, the sacred, secret name of God, declaring myself an open channel for the Light and Sound.

Immediately, the web begins to break, turning into puffs. The captives become aware of me. They are delighted, but confused.

Apparently, no other person, apart from the captors, has ever gained access to their prison home.

That night, I went to bed with so much joy. I was in a bubble. The Masters were waiting to take me on a journey to test me in unexpected places.

I sang HU softly to myself, while keeping the radiant form of the Mahanta in my inner vision, as I drifted to sleep.

Minutes passed as I stood savoring the silence. I was listening for the Sound with my inner ear. Soon, I could faintly pick the high note of a whistle and bees buzzing.

This was followed by the single note of flute. I stood there listening and soaking in the Love of God, as the Sound bathed me.

My inner eyes opened, seeing the golden white Light, as it surrounded me with a warmness on my skin, the top of my head, the center of the forehead, and the heart region.
