Please medical students in the house...

I have a friend who studied anatomy and wants to to further but she doesn't want to study medicine and surgery (yet at least).

She is putting in for public health...Please is there any program consistency in this??

Or what other Masters program can one suggest for an anatomy graduate. Apart from human anatomy and cell biology of course. Thanks.

@chimah3 great posts by the way. But in a situation where the persons employment letter reflects an annual salary which isn't substantial, do you suggest leaving that out as well, if so, how then does the person tackle "current employment status" ?

Attach a letter of introduction from your office, study leave approval letter and any other document you think cud suffice too...#mythought

Someone please reply @Chimah3 @Nelly28

If you cant secure admission for an MBA directly and indeed you have been working since 2008...please put in for a PGD/PGC and explain in a well worded SOP/LOE what you have been doing since, why you put in for a PGD/PGC (because of your grades, your future plan of still securing an MBA and all that. Your letter of explanation is your ticket to success so write as if your life depends on it!

Lastly, almost everyone here that got TRV with PGD/PGC had previous work experience which I believed worked in their favour.

@chimah3, nice post.

But what will be the content of the bank reference letter? would it just state that you have funds in your account or that they guarantee that the funds in the account will be used to pay your fees/ living expenses. if it is the latter, then I can tell you that no bank in Nigeria will give such assurance to you. Its like a Bank Guarantee and it has to involve the Legal department. The bank can be held responsible if such student is unable to pay fees.

What the embassy is trying to do, is to catch up with people that lodge money into their account for application and then give them out to the owners after application.

The issue we are having is that Nigerian students abroad, are finding it difficult to pay fees because of our exchange rate system and most can't find a good job abroad to raise their fees.

I think the best thing to do is to show your bank statement in dollars or other third currencies. Every other thing you wrote down there can be easily gotten except the bank reference letter.

Lastly I want to encourage everyone to pay tuition for at least one year because it will be difficult to raise your entire tuition while schooling. Also take advantage of this CBN intervention @ 360/dollar. It is not sustainable and can be stopped anytime.

Wish all of us success in our study permit application.

I said Reference letter not anything else you seem to be mentioning!

Every Nigerian bank can issue upon request a Reference letter if you run a current account. I can't say for savings! And it takes only about 5 minutes after requesting for it....very easy!

For those that got a letter from the embassy asking for additional bank assurance letter and CBN letter...

Please do the following:

1. Get a Reference letter from your bank or Sponsors bank (If sponsored)
2. Get your sponsor to write an attestation letter stating that they are still willing to support you.
3. Get a more recent bank statement (If you have a dorm account with converted funds PLEASE include it too and state in the cover letter you are going to write that those funds have already been converted for part or wholly for your required 10000 CAD living expense)
4. Attach this CBN circular that shows you are able to carry up to 10000USD (https://www.cbn.gov.ng/out/2015/ccd/money%20laundering%20press%20release.pdf)
5.Attach this CBN circular that also shows you are entitled to 4000 USD FROM CBN when your visa is approved (https://www.cbn.gov.ng/out/2017/ccd/circular%20on%20new%20policy%20on%20pta%20school%20fees.pdf)
6. Attach confirmation letter from school showing you have paid your school fees and Attach receipt if you feel its necessary.
7. Write a cover letter explaining all Ive said here, also write and assurance them that the necessary funds are available and you promise funding will not be an issue. (Future SOP writer please always spell this point out in BOLD). #Tip

When this is done...Please come and share your success story. It shall all end in praise!!

hello boss, what of a situation where one's sponsor wants to transfer the $10,000CAD for upkeep for a year to an applicant? in a situation where the applicant's personal account has been inactive for months with little or no fund in it, but an active salary account (e. g 50,000 monthly as an example), are u saying d sponsor should not transfer d money of upkeep to d applicant since his/her SOA isn't needed? or should d fund be transferred to d inactive personal account or salary account?

Best regards

If you can open a dorm account and pay in that money and explain it has been converted and put aside for your living expenses in you SOP/LOE....I feel you would be better off! #Justmythought!

DEAR NAIRALANDERS IF U ARE PLANNING TO TRAVEL TO CANADA VIA A STUDY PERMIT WITHOUT PAYING YOUR TUITION FROM NIGERIA JUST FORGET IT CUZ THINGS HAVE CHANGED
JUST GOT THIS LETTER THIS WEEK FROM SOMEBODY I WAS HELPING OUT

This is in reference to your application for a temporary residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

Due to currency controls in effect in Nigeria, you must provide proof of having paid your entire tuition for the first academic year AS WELL AS one of the following: 1) a letter from a Canadian financial institution stating that living expenses for the upcoming academic year* are on deposit in the your name and a bank statement for the Canadian account; 2) a bank draft in foreign convertible currency for living expenses for the upcoming academic year* made payable to you; or 3) written assurance from the your bank that living expenses for the upcoming academic year* are on deposit as well as written assurance from the Central Bank of Nigeria that you will be permitted to export this amount. *For greater clarity, “living expenses for the upcoming academic year” means $10,000 CAD for 12 months or, if your course is shorter than 12 months, $833 CAD for each month of study. This must be received at this office by: 2017/05/26

Please note:
Submission in person will not be accepted anymore.
You must submit your information/document by e-mail to the following address accra.immigration@international.gc.ca
You must provide the above information/documents within the time given. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application. Please quote your complete application number in your e-mail. All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations.
Thank you for the interest you have shown in Canada.

Check my earlier post on how to tackle this.
A friend got this letter and received his TRV days after replying them. The person is on the right path fear not!

this could be applicable to other countries, even though you are working and being sponsored for studies. As Canada is involved, once you have declared you have a job/you work, you are necessitated to bring upon your application your salary account/personal account to substantiate that you are employed even if being sponsored!!!Exception is when it involves an unpaid activity.

Similarly we should endeavour to at least verify our information and make it expandable(detailed) if possible before posting here because most applicants on here place priority and importance on what they have read here, if by tomorrow they get refused by misinformation from any poster, they would come on here to express dismay and disgust about this forum and this may make the particular poster/moniker irrelevant in disseminating information.

That is why it is called being sponsored and that is why you guys give the visa officer room to deny you guys visa because they start checking your income and using it to determine if it is a good enough tie to make you come back. I'm referring to a case where your salary isn't sensible...just like a case of the person who asked the question. But if you earn well...PLEASE by all means put in your payslip in your application.

Putting a payslip of a salary of 50000 or 20000 naira is plain stupid...Reason it!!!

And please i'm speaking from experience, I helped a friend package his application in Feb. Told him not to include his payslip as i usually do because he had a sponsor and his visa came out on Wednesday...So i speak from experience. and this is the second successful one!

@chimah3 thanks, I have paid the tuition , would the 30,000 Include the tuition I have paid? What exactly make up "funds available for stay"

Thanks

Those going for PGC/PGD please always spell it out in your LOE/SOP to the Visa officer that your grades aren't good enough to secure a Masters immediately thus leading to your choice of program! There is nothing wrong in this...it would only reduce your chance of 'purpose of visit' refusal #Tip

Please I need clarification on this aspect of my online Student Visa form.

If my tuition is $5000, room and board is $6000 and my sponsor has $10000 set aside for other living expenses.

According to the attached part of the form, please what will I fill in as "funds available for stay"

I just don't want to make mistakes.

Thanks

Please do your self good by leaving out roam and board if it was not specified in your admission letter. Also try as much as possible not to put only the 10000 required funds in that column. Increase it as much as possible to what you can prove. At least 30000. The higher the better! #tip

Good evening house. Please I applied to Humber College to study Information Technology Solutions as PGC and I am about submitting my online application next week. My Aunty {my Father's younger sister. She's a divorcee with one dependent who has graduated from the University and probably working now} lives in US, is sponsoring everything about my education.

This is my FIRST question; Is there any need for me to submit my payslip and my statement of account to IRCC even when my sponsor is taking care of the bills? To be honest, I don't have that kind of money in my account. My Aunty on the other hand have paid my tuition for one semester. She has also forwarded me all her bank details and documents of the few assets that she has which includes, a plot of land in Lagos and her house in America. She's ready to take responsibility of all my expenses {atleast for one year till I can get a part time job to pay for my fees for the second year}. How can I arrange my application in such a way that I don't need to include my payslip and statement of account to the Canadian vo? [even though I plan to include my employment letter both in my former place of work and my current organization, reference letter from my employer stating that I shall be going on a 2 years leave without pay to further my education]

My second question is this; My Aunty is still waiting to receive her tax returns from the States. Because I've read in this forum that it takes an average of 17 weeks for an applicant's student visa to be process, I want to submit my application next week. She on the other hand is expecting her tax returns on the 19th of next month. I want to know if I can go ahead to submit my application. Then when she gets her tax returns, she will then send me the papers for inclusion under the statement of account. Note: What she has as savings is $19,000 after paying my tuition for one semester. What she's expecting from tax returns is about $9,000.

Please is it possible to include other supporting documents after submission online?

Please I will be grateful if someone can help me with an answer. Thank you.

If you are sponsored...PLEASE avoid including your financial details! Not necessary! #Tip for others applying. There's no point complicating your admission!
