emmanuelewumi: Team access Lol.. @Team access Not surprised. Access Bank new acquisition in Kenya need to raise capital as mandated by Kenyan central Bank(KCB) by as much as over 2Ksh(kenyan shillings). Which is approximately 21-23bn Naira. The deadline is December 2025. The last conditional statement on that paragraph 2 gives a bit of credence to this. The top banks in that country have mostly met their capitalization. My guess is AcessHoldings will fulfill that capitalization from its purse similar to what StanbicHoldco did to meet it's capitalization. But they will need a replacement to their equity, hence the PP. The remaining capital raise of about 20bn might be opportunity to raise funds for other acquisitions. |

chimex38: If I get your discuss thus far. You don't want a lien on any of your assets or pledge collateral with a loan of 30%-35%(secured loan).
But you prefer an interest rate even up 60-80% provided no strings attached as collateral (unsecured loan). It's intriguing. All I can say is you seem to be a master of this game to a large extent.. Whatever works for you, stick with it. It's probably your mojo There may be risks but refining them is better than bailing out, especially if it has worked for you severally. me, I just can't can |

awesomeJ: You're taking the N30m figure ;Dout of context.
Check the conversation again, the only time I mentioned N30m loan was in the context of Ucap which is a secured facility.
I haven't mentioned any loan amount I want as far as unsecured facilities are concerned, it's only the pricing i've mentioned cos that's all i'm after. Give me even 60% unsecured, then whther it's 1, 2, 5 or 10m, I'll take it. If I get your discuss thus far. awesomeJ: If the bi-annual filing talk is true, it won't be unique to CGT, It would be PIT in general. So even people who don't play on the NGX would have to file as frequently.
But what I heard is actually March 31st of the next year and it's only once a year filing. True sha. it will be PIT across board. But FPI that are CGT exclusive will feel it differently. @bolded exactly what I heard from horses mouth. Seems Afriinvest is interpreting differently or "suitably" for their clients |

ojesymsym: Few points I was able to gather from the session.
Before now we had a CDT act so unlike before where we had different tax acts and documents, we now have one signle law on anything tax. Filings are to be done 2 times a year. June and December. Transactions that occur between Jan and June are to be filed in June, ditto for June to December in December. CGT applies to gains in securities and capital market. Loses can set off from other chargeable gains which means you can use losses from one asset sale to offset gains from another asset within the same assessment year. The old CGT law did not allow this until the act of 2020. Non resident is liable to tax on gains made from Nigeria The provision now also ensures that FDI also have to pay CGT even if they use SPV to run their business in Nigeria One way to avoid paying CGT is to use the gains to buy another security within same calendar year irrespective of whether you made a gain of 10M or not. Bonds and FG securities are still likely to be excempted Timing your disposal can also help in reducing your CGT You can use your loss making assets to offset your gains when you sell both within same period Risked aversed people can focus more on dividend gaining asset since that dividends only attract 10% WHT When filling your returns for CGT, all your refunds should provable. Contract documents come in place here Same for when you reinvest. Use all of those details to self declare your gains. Do not wait for the tax man to come and help you calculate. Know what is taxable and not taxable, do not misclassify. Crypto will also be liable to CGT Identify Tax Exempt Table Income Portfolio abd assign more resources to them Looks like even mutual funds are CGT taxaable (This one I was not clear on) Thanks for sharing your summary. If I interprete correctly, so we will now have to submit tax returns every 6months? twice per year? This market will lay low for a while. |

But as things stand right now a bunch of poor people are killing another bunch of poor people. @Bolded... That's just it. Mining is still a passive and miscellaneous revenue source. If Mining was a significant and major source of revenue for FG. There would have been decisive action by now. |

Streetinvestor2: How much is the so called zenith today. How much was it before this failed government started Then do the devaluation/inflation maths on the street. U will see reality A disgraced ngx has nothing to offer till 2027 when this failed government is kicked out Sometimes if one can't beat inflation/devaluation effect of double digit growth say 30% but can reduce it's effect on one's purchasing power over time to single digit of 9-10% thereabout. It's also a win. We hope they rescue the hostages and get the abductors within the next few days to weeks. The hostage number is embarrassing. I want to believe if they do, It will have a positive effect on Ngx as well. |

nosa2: I think we are close to or at the bottom for some stocks, obviously Zenith Bank is one of them. It could trade sideways here but I don't see it going below N54.
In fact crypto has started bouncing back so tomorrow would most likely be positive I don't think it will get their on its own or any related news. Based on current happenings, I believe external news can trigger further decline. Which is why market is cautious. Like if a delay in rescue of kidnap victims within the next 1-2 weeks isn't effected. Or any new major abductions that triggers international reach, etc. If they are able to do all that within the next 1month. It's going green |

HesInMe: Market price-to-earnings ratios don't predict the likelihood of a market crash at all?
You're rewriting all of modern finance. If you're right, you'll earn the Nobel in economics. Don't bet on it. He's more about how it tilts towards highcap stocks. Which o agree with. It's singular usage as an ASI-crash-metric may not go well with Nigerians NGX. unless ones portfolio is largely made up of those high cap scores over 70-80%. Then I think it can be useful for such persons. |

ositadima1: Everything I wrote above is verifiable. I’m done derailing. You have a point and I don't think you are derailing. It's still NGX discuss. One of the metrics in the fragility index even captured concentration flaws that can be skewed by just a few high cap stocks. So it can be useful and adjusted based on one's portfolio holdings. Good piece. |

MT: Irrespective of what happens in Nigeria, the US has no legal right to say they want to launch military attack on another country uninvited
The US created the global rule-based system which Trump is currently destroying. There are diplomatic channels that countries use to communicate. No sane country comes to social media to plan war.
When US voted a convict as President, no one talked. When guns are killing them in their thousands, no country threatens to attack the US. US and any allies help are welcome but not through disrespect. Right approach has to be done. I thought it's called freedom of speech. |
