Not to talk of TIP that has small outstanding shares. I see it getting to 15 before the closing date. I might be wrong though. A director bought about 60 million units at market price. Why didnt the guy go for the public offer. Just wondering.. Todays trade is 2.88million units. Total units traded for Tip for the past one week is less than 45million. Where you get 60m units |

I have been threatened and told to shut up and keep my opinion to myself ever since. Infact, they don't want to hear anything from me again... pim make i no talk Kpele |

Emumakpo: I received sales contract notes from my broker, but no sms from cscs
I have checked my porfolio with cscs and the shares are no longer there
I have done both since last week you mean, you didn't receive any X-alerts as SMS? I would advise you screenshot your CSCS portfolio statement as well as send the contract note from your broker to CSCS as evidence. Also make complain of not receiving X-alerts. you can copy SEC along if possible. Maybe @Emmasoft can help you further. |

Emumakpo: I am having an issue with UCAP stockbroker. I sold some of my cabury and Total shares on the 5th and 10th of this month up until now they haven't credited my bank account as a Direct Cash Settlement customer. I have sent emails to them, but there is no positive result. I have complained to CSCS, and I was told to lay the complaint through the broker, which I did, but no response yet. What should I do next? 1) unless you received contract statement of your sell orders alongside the SMS alert from CSCS, probably not all sales were executed that day. Maybe it took extra 2-3days to sell your shares. 2)Try check your portfolio directly from CSCS( NOT your broker platform) and see the status of the trades. if you didn't register, you can ask for your direct statement from CSCS or via your broker(it will come with CSCS identifiable features) Probably they may be on pending transaction on the statement(ongoing process) 3) contact CSCS directly again, copy your stockbroker or Contact your broker and copy CSCS. 4) Escalate to SEC. |

Stockhunter: I can bet my 2 cent that this CGT will not be implemented. There was a reason the last one was not. One, we dont have the infrastructure, two, the market is very dynamic and complex. Only the JIJO guys that swing though several stocks in a year will confuse the system.
Another example if dangote fertiliser/refinery list by say 2nd quarter next year and an investor enters into the stock by 3rd quarter and makes gain above 10m, will this be taxed too, considering the reset date of 31 Dec 2025. This market go burst the tax guys head no worry. Reset date isn't 31st December 2025 Ooo. The cost taken is the higher between your purchase price before 31st Dec. 2025 and the actual price as at 31st Dec 2025. It's not a fixed reset date but conditional. If you bought DR in 2026, the reset date isn't applicable. Your cost basis is from the 3Qrtr you entered DR in 2026. i don't see the issue here. |

Market order gives an idea of range of bids and offers at real time There's another layer. I think they call it market access where you can actually see all the transactions that have taken place since the beginning of the trading day. |

I believe it's cheaper taking the RI and I am paying 1420 PS, even for the extra they advised if I wish to take. Depending on your broker, you can access or request for market access to view the market and then decide which is cheaper. Unless you have other goals. Chat or email them. My maths says 1360 is N60 cheaper PS. If you read through the boldness of the "cheaper" comment. You can infer that the person doesn't view the marker orders. They don't know what's going on with most stocks especially highcap stocks that mostly trade below or above 100k units. All they see is the NGX display dashoard.(₦1,450 thereabout). you guys are having a different view of the market. |

mikeapollo: So selling and buying in the ''same year of assessment'' is the real deal now. So if I sell on 31 December hoping to invest the proceeds in March, the govt will tax the proceeds of December. What happens when I want to reinvest the proceeds to buy another stock in March? Will govt refund? Nope. No body taxes your sale proceeds if you sell in Dec. Your full sales proceeds automatically becomes your cost price if you decide to buy in March 2026. |

awesomeJ: With a N150m portfolio, I'll probably sell N500m monthly( N1bn for both buy/sell)
And with a N15m portfolio, I might hit the 150m sale in just one quarter (300m total transactions)
So it's not right to say because people have Portfolios below N150m, then they won't hit the threshold.
It's even possible to have a N2bn portfolio and not sell up to N150m per year, whereas you could have just N10m and sell up to N300m if you trade actively for an entire year.
These are some of the things stakeholders should probably explain to him.
But it's good he has said the implementations will have adjustments.(In line with what Mr Wale said) @bolded.. Exactly.. |

Yoursfaithful: Don't be too quick to conclude ..I dnt trust this govt ..what makes you feel the #15.00 gain will be tax free what changes..dnt forget we have a current policy of 10% CGT of which the only problem was implementation which is still effective not until 31st December 2025.so what if they decide to apply that together with the one to be effective 1st Jan 2026..automatically 10% on gains before Dec 31st 2025 and 30% on gains after 1st Jan 2026. New tax laws of 2025 supersedes the finance tax Law of 2021 or so where the 10% was. Old finance law becomes ineffective Dec. 2025. Has anyone called you or is planning to call you to pay 10% of CGT before December 2025? If you are still doubtful, just sell your holdings and repurchase back before the beginning of the new year. |

@awesomeJ was right. This helps to buttress the interpretation further. "For example, if an investor acquired shares at N5 and the value appreciates to N20 by December 31, 2025, the tax authority will treat N20 as the cost base going forward.
If the shares are later sold in 2026 for N25, only the N5 gain realised after the reset date will be subject to CGT. The N15 gain earned before the new law takes effect will not be taxed."https://nairametrics.com/2025/11/12/capital-gains-tax-oyedele-clarifies-past-gains-wont-be-taxed-under-new-law/#google_vignetteThey will have to amend the law if it's included. Anyway, they have the whole 2026 to do that.
