Capitas7: I won't dispute your projection, but I think there's a common trend whereby blue chip companies buy up innovative companies in their sectors. Like pharmaceutical companies buying up biotech startups, giant tech companies buying innovative startups with excellent products, oil and gas big players buying up distribution/marketing networks. It is one of the advantages of good free cash flow which these leading banks have in abundance.
Fintech is the bride of the day, but when heavy regulations start diminishing their profits, their core investors will not think twice before selling to the leading banks. Alternatively, big cap banks will create their own fintech products to compete in the space. Cashapp and others come to mind. Apple, Samsung etc. buy up tech companies/products to remain sector leaders.
UCAP for instance, launched its microfinance arm because it has the weight. That's a strategic disruption too. How long before Access buys up all the Fintechs in Nigeria? Access collect stray bullet Acquisition kings 👑 |

Mpeace: It all depends. In 2017 I bought a piece of land in a place called Ohi in Imo state. I bought at the rate of 1.5million per plot. Today a plot at the same location is sold for N14million. GTco is an exceptional case. If we go into exceptional cases, the examples we have for landed properties will sound unbelievable. There is a place they call southafrica in Ihiagwa in Imo state. They just discovered oil there and the land owners are being compensated. You will not want to hear what is on offer. Forget rental income, it's not the real deal. Growing up in Jos, plateau state, I remember a friend who's father bought a property at Ahmadu Bello way back then for 15million. I don't think the man will sell that property today for anything less than N500million. The problem is @500million, will he see a buyer ? How many buyers available depends on purchasing power of the town in general? Cost implication of selling(COGS)? Security Exposure to deceitful marketers and miscreants who may want to prey on your largesse in eventuality of the sale? What will be the duration of payment?; cuz usually it won't be a one-off payment(lump sum + installments). How about default on installments. More contract and MOU and expenses. The similar scenario is those in seplat or Aradel who bought a very large chunk @ maybe 100-200. The Aradel guy never sell finish Same with chams seller that year Which of the two sheges will one prefer to be into? |

faoogoke: Wrong!
The Act increases the minimum capital for life insurance businesses from N2 billion to N10 billion, non-life insurance firms from N3 billion to N15 billion and reinsurance companies from N10 billion to N35 billion. I recall this to be more accurate. Those running both Non-life(General) and life insurance--both known as composite insurance will have to capitalize up to ₦10bn+₦15bn=₦25bn. |

SohSoh: I don't think this companies (septlat, chevron) have a choice to work with another company ... as NNPC is the sole and or only business entity they are allowed to work with (correct me if i'm wrong and please name the alternative) cos NNPC is a terrible company to partner with..... or work with..... Most times, it's to protect our sovereign National interest. Energy security.. So probably they have to Partner with NNPC as govt eyes 👀. The PIA act might even provide for it. Unfortunately despite bad management, a country can't leave it's major source of income + strategic commodity, industries entirely in private hands. It's akin to surrendering your sovereignty. |

thebargainhunte: Everybody knows that NNPC is not a good manager, and it is because of that they are taking the route of partnership in every capital intensive-project instead of owning everything. Even Dangote has to partner with them for his refinery. But NNPC seem to have the sole Ownership stake for Bauchi abi na Gombe Oil Exploration abi na both sef Abeg fact check me Oo. #Patriotism |

SohSoh: Thank you for this information
1: that is why we don't have any working refinery in nigeria 2:that is why NNPC doesn't have one refinery attached to their name 3: that is why subsidy nearly finished this country 4: that is why they refused to supply Dangote crude ... despite investing 2billion and owning 20% of the refinery 5: that is why there is an alleged 210 trillion unaccounted for...
I could go on oh..... so again who in their right senses think NNPC of Nigeria is a good business partner..... I dey suspect say you go be the Largest minority holder if NNPC gets listed 🤔 |

That said if it scales through, we buy more I agree on monopoly .. Especially with the concentration in Edo. It will stifle any other Edo state Palm/crop- Venture in general. |
