I want to marry the love of my life. Its ok. I support you 100% as long as both of you agree not to have children. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Lord's Prayer ('our Father') Has 4 Words That Will Change Your Life by chinebu(m): 7:05am On May 31, 2020 |
JESUSisKING1: Summary: Jesus' disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray. In His answer — which we call "the Lord's Prayer" or the "Our Father" — Jesus spoke four simple words that have the potential of changing your life. They will bring you into line with His plans and purposes for you on this earth.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now CHOOSE life....
•• God offers us choices — life or death, blessings or curses, heaven or hell — and He says, “You choose.” Of course He does not approve of every choice, but He does allow us to make the choices. • God allows us to use our free will. •• Some Bible illustrations: • Joshua: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” He chose God, blessings, and life. • The rich young ruler chose his wealth over following Jesus (Matthew 19:21-23). And Jesus did not try to coerce him to change his mind. • Paul wrote: (2 Timothy 4:10) “...Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me.” Demas chose the world over serving the Lord. •• We face similar, freewill choices every day: • We can choose to pray or not. God won’t force us. • We can choose to live holy lives or not. • We can choose to share our faith with others or just to be secret Christians. • We can choose to be law-abiding, honest citizens, or we can choose to walk the edge and push the limits. •• In these and thousands of other choices, the Bible gives us wisdom to make right choices, but God does not force us. He grants us free will to choose. •• In this context (free will to choose) I’m going to share with you some words that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE — “Not My Will, But Thine Be Done”. They are virtually synonymous with these 4 words Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord's Prayer: "Thy Will Be Done." (Read immediately below) Matthew 6:9-13, KJV [Jesus, teaching His disciples how to pray] "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done..."
•• “Thy will be done.” If said sincerely to God daily, choice by choice, this can change your life! •• But this can get scary — • I’ve heard some say, “But God might call me to the mission field!” • Or...God might have me go up to that homeless person and offer a kind word and share my faith. • Or...God might not let me keep dating this person. • Or...“Lord, I might lose control of my life if I say to you, ‘Thy will be done.’ ” That’s correct! # Remember, these words will CHANGE your life. •• But think about it: What could be safer than to be in the will of God? • What could be more fulfilling than to be exactly in the center of His will? Luke 22:41-42 [Jesus] withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, [42] “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet NOT MY will, but YOURS be done.”
42, KJV “Not my will, but thine, be done.”
•• This scene describes it perfectly: • Jesus had His own will: “...remove this cup from me.” • “YET NOT MY will, but YOURS be done.” His words are virtually identical to the 4 words He told us to pray: Thy will be done. •• Was Jesus’ will here sinful? No; He never sinned. • But if He had followed His desire to escape the cross, we would not be saved! • So it’s possible for our will to desire things that are not necessarily sinful, but are not the RIGHT CHOICES. • For example, is it a sin to get very busy and go several days without spending time in prayer and the Word? • Probably not, but is that God’s will? No. • Stopping what you are doing and saying, “THY will be done” would certainly bring changed conduct. Philippians 2:12-13 ...[13] for it is GOD who works in you TO WILL and to act according to HIS good purpose.
13, KJV For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
•• This is a major truth. God works in us “to WILL ... HIS good pleasure.” •• You may have many legitimate desires, but they’re not all the will of God. Remember Jesus in the Garden? Remember Paul's two sincere false starts before receiving the Macedonian vision? (Acts 16:7-10) •• Here’s how I believe God wants it to work: 1) Recognize that not all apparently wholesome inclinations are the will of God. Some are, some aren’t.
2) Determine to surrender to GOD CONTROL of your life — “NOT MY will be done.”
3) Determine to ASK Him daily: “THY will be done.”
4) With your heart open and obedient to God like that, watch Him work in your heart “TO WILL and to do of HIS good pleasure.”
In teaching His followers how to pray, Jesus spoke four life-changing words in the Lord's Prayer that can alter the course of your life:
“Not my will, but thine, be done.” Well said. Thy will be done in my life oh Lord |

Jesus Christ came and died on the cross of Calvary for our sins and for reunification of man with God. This sacrifice alone is enough. Accept Christ in your life and live like he did while on earth. We are Christians because we are supposed to live like Christ. Whatever Christ did while on earth try to emulate him and leave the rest. Heaven at last. Tithe will not prevent you from going to heaven if don't pay. Prove me wrong if you disagree |

petra1: . Go to scriptures and study my post again . If you find anything unscriptural kindly point it out by scriptures . Launching attacks or insults is uncalled for . It shows weakness in defence . Pastors are mostly volunteers. They have jobs like every other person . They put their monies in ministry rather . Except few who are general overseers A big lie most pastor live large on tithes and offerings ok. I wonder why you are not bringing the whole teaching on tithing and sacrifices from the book of deutronomy to the table. I will love that part too |

petra1: Not hard at all . Just accept the scriptures
That’s not what he said but you’re doing what you tried to accuse me of.
He never said tithe is insignificant . He said they should tithe and not neglect other weightier matters . Just give God his tithe
He didn’t say so . Why do you give offerings then? Tithes and offerings are eternal principles .
Malachi 3:8 . . Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
From all these back and forth deliberations I can confidently say that you are a beneficiary of tithes probably a pastor or an assitant pastor or church trasurer who uses church funds for personal use. My advise is that people are begining to be wise and read the bible for themselves. they have began to understand that you pastors instill fear in them to pay tithes because its the only way to fund your lifestyles. Its time to tell the members the truth that tithe wont take them to heaven neither will it make them rich because hardwork is the only guarrantee to success in life by Gods grace. So stop while you still have time. |

petra1: It rather shows that If he could tithe of the spoil of war he must have been a regular tither . The only reason they could have met there was because . He didn’t want to go home with the spoil do the tithe collector has to meet him . If not he ought to have taken it to the priest .
It’s not one bible verse. tithing was a practice God revealed to Abraham . God himself testified thst Abraham will teach his family his principles
Genesis 18:19 For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.
It was not only Abraham that practice tithing but his household and generation even to the time of Jacob .
Genesis 28:22 . . .and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
We dont tithe because of the law . But because it’s a principle revealed to our father of faith . God only re enacted it under the Sinai covenant for the people of Israel because they lost it in Egypt .
Tithes And offerings are eternal principles Just as prayer, worship , offering etc
Why do you give offerings , alms and why honor your parents and neglect the tithe
Jesus may not make tithing a Major topic neither offering . He himself had said they are lesser things . But he still said men should tithe .And he didn’t condemn it as he did of sabbath keeping
Mathew 23:23 TLB . . .You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.
Then welfare of the ministers in the terbernscle comes from tithes and offerings . Paul let’s us know that the principles still applies
Numbers 18:21-25 21 And, behold, I have given the Levites all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance in return for their service which they serve, the [menial] service of the Tent of Meeting.
1 Corinthians 9:13-14 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
We could have said we are born of the spirit water baptism and communion and fasting are unnecessary . Why do we honor parents ? and still give alms ? The law is only a guide to a principle which already in existence .thats the reason you can find Paul even quoting the law . Principles are constant.
True , we give as act of worship and honor .
Yes , but that doesn’t take away the fact that we lay hold on blessing by our act of obedience and faith , there is grace we access and unlock by actions of faith and obedience . Law of sowing and reaping . You are trying so hard to defend tithing with your brain explanation. If Christ said tithe is not important which means it's insignificant which also means even if you don't pay tithe it means nothing. No consequences at all right? Then remember he said that knowing that his sacrifice on the cross will bring an end to things like the law of tithes. That's why he called it laser matter |

Oluromantic: Malachi 3:10 answers it all. It says all the full tight should be taken to the house of the Lord. You can give your sister money, gifts etc but ur full tithe is not negotiable Don't deceive people the Bible actually said we should eat our tithes with our families at a place choose and then give some portions of the tithe to the Levites who will equally be sitting at table with us. Deut. 14:22-23 read please. If you must follow tithing follow to the later don't leave anything behind. Never interprete the Bible to sooth your own yearning for money. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Aggressive, Violent, Cool, Calm, Which Is The Best Way To Pray As A Christian? by chinebu(m): 10:53am On May 17, 2020 |
KingBaba1: The scripture says the fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much, and this will want me to know the best way to pray according to the Bible and Christian belief.
1. We all know we are different type of human being and our approach to things differ alot. We have the cool and calm beings, and also the stubborn and aggressive ones.
I see how pastor Adeboye preaches the gospel and pray in a cool and calm way and there are signs, wonders and testimony to that effect... I also know some agressive preachers and prayer warriors like pastor Paul Adefarasin, N. duncan Williams and TD jakes.
Now, here is why i am writing this write up.
1. I sometimes feel i am too cool and calm in my prayers hence the delay or no answer i have in my prayer requests to the most high.
2. I believe in strategic form of prayer and i also do fast and pray when seeking the face of the lord on something... I don't usually think i am too cool or calm in prayers not until i started waiting endlessly for results. If i am in a religious gathering, it depends on the leader of the prayer points and the prayer point itself that will determine my ginger and how aggressive i can be, but i don't see it going too hot or too cool.
3.what could be the delay of prayer request of somones need I feel satisfied inside of me when i pray in my own way and style. I don't really have privacy at the moment, and i am someone who really doesn't like people hearing my prayer point if it isn't in a religious gathering and general prayer.
I was born into Christianity and i served the lord in a church unit, but I will like to ask maybe there are ways i need to start praying that i don't know or practice for effective answers from the lord.
N. B. I know jehova witnesses don't pray loud or aggressive prayer, and i also know some other religious organization that doesn't do aggressive praying too.
So which one is which and how do one pray effective prayer with fasting without being aggressive Your views and opinion will really help, and i will be more than delighted if u can do that with scripture references.
Thanks Christianity is all about living the Christlike life. I.E living like Christ lived while on his earthly mission. He thought us how to pray in the book of John and I also know that in the garden of getsamany he also prayed while the apostles slept. If he was violent in his prayers I don't think the apostles would have found it conducive to sleep there. My submission. |
