My point is that we should wait for investigation to concluded. What if a false alarm is blown and people get killed will you be happy about it?? I don't support anyone, loosing someone at that age is bad but let's reason and take sentiment aside. It could be anyone as long as they're masked that's why we need to wait for the culprit to be brought to book.

Hope you've seen @saharareporters tweet about Fasoranti's son blasting the Nigerian police of lying that it wasn't a herdsmen attack and he (Fasoranti's son) insists that it's herdsmen that killed his sister because most definitely the driver and maid have told him the true story same as they told Afenifere

Was it not them Afenifere and other Yorubas that first came publicly to accuse the herdsmen for the killing of Mrs. Olakunrin?

Politics / Re: Buhari’s Government Has Failed – Wole Soyinka by chingymingy: 11:42am On Jul 15, 2019
iwaeda:
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, says the Federal Government has failed, adding that the government is not capable of solving Nigeria’s problems.

Soyinka lamented the violence caused by herdsmen, the indiscriminate grazing of cattle and the destruction of farmlands

He, therefore, recommended that a National Conference be convened, adding that the Muhammadu Buhari-led government can only make an impact by thinking beyond partisan politics.

Soyinka said this while playing host to some students on his 85th birthday celebration, Channels Television reports.

The playwright said, “The problems of this nation are beyond the solution that can be offered by this government, that’s the first admission; they have to stop thinking in partisan government.

“There has always been a major problem with successive governments. It’s easier on the state level to say that a particular state is definitely doing better than another state. But the central government has failed, that’s my view in the main.

“There is a minimal level which any government which has been elected to power must achieve to be considered a true representative of the people.”

He called for a national summit to address some of the socio-economic and political challenges facing the country, saying that the current challenges are beyond the capacity of the government in power.

Soyinka said more was expected from the government in tackling issues that affect the populace.

He also called for a national conference where all these challenges could be addressed for the good of all, making reference to security threats posed by cattle herders.

The Nobel Laureate added, “Look at what’s happening today with the cattle all over the place, that’s a security issue which should never have reached this level.

“That singular act has resulted in hundreds of people being killed, farms were taken over; it has wiped away a lot of the positive achievements of the government.”

“They need to confront this nation as a habitation of human beings where very serious issues like economy, security, health, even threats of secession come up every day and convoke at the same time, a national conference, what I call an Indaba across all section which we will all meet and debate everything, including the economy of this nation.”

kponkedenge:

Like I've said in previous threads, these Fulani's are not Nigerians. The only reason our government has failed to take drastic action against them is because of the religion and tribal sentiments they share amongst each other.
So the Nigerian government is indirectly telling its citizens that they'd rather side with illegal immigrants rather than their own citizens.
There's no other country in the world where you find illegal immigrants killing with so much impunity and they are still being rewarded by the government, even the US and other European countries where illegal immigrants take the lowest of jobs, yet they are still deported....but here, our government want to reward them with lands for killing us.

The man made it clear that's the ones who invaded southwest ooh. So the ones attacking other parts of the nation are indigenous or local.

He's definitely not okay

South-West under foreign herdsmen’s invasion – Ex-DMI boss

A former Director of the Directorate of Military Intelligence, Col. Kunle Togun (retd.), has raised the alarm that the South-West has been invaded by Fulani herdsmen from Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal and other West African countries.

Togun also said it was unfortunate that some people were playing politics with security issues.

Speaking in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, Togun said, “The Yoruba nation is under invasion and that is a fact. The entire Yorubaland has been invaded by these herdsmen and unfortunately, some people are supporting this because of political considerations.”

He accused some traditional rulers of selling land to the foreign herders in the Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State.

He said the herdsmen were able to perpetrate criminal activities because they had studied the topography of the area and the psychology of the people.

He warned that selling land to them would continue to put the Yoruba people and their generations in danger.

Togun said, “Some people including traditional rulers take cows from these Fulani and settle them here. This has been happening in Oke-Ogun. They graze on people’s farms and kill anyone who complains.

“We were told that there is an Oba in Atisbo Local Government Area and that these foreigners went to him with money and cows, asking him to give them land but he turned down the offer. They later went to another monarch, who collected the money and cows and he gave them land.

“These herdsmen now kill the native Fulani and rustle their cows; they rape their wives. These people are Fulani from Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. They come here to own Nigerian land. How can the inheritance of our future generation be given to foreigners? The whole of Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa have been invaded; the entire Yorubaland has been invaded. They have brought their youths, who are now commercial motorcyclists in Lagos. They sell carrots, fruits and all that.

“There is no village, town and city in Yorubaland that these people have not invaded and in the evening, you see the people gathering together. If there is any problem, these youths are their foot-soldiers. They have studied our topography; they have studied our movements and they know everything.”

Togun said he predicted the current situation in December 2014 when he was invited to deliver a lecture by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria but that no action was taken on it.

“Nigerians are not security-conscious people but the worst are the Yoruba. Some are looking at the issue from religious and political views. It is unfortunate that foreigners from Mali, from Niger, from Guinea and other now own land in Nigeria,” he added.

Politics / Re: Herdsmen Convert Ondo Forest Reserve Into Militia Camp - Punch by chingymingy: 2:44pm On Jul 14, 2019
Staro:
Fresh facts emerged on Saturday that herdsmen have converted the Ondo Government reserve located in the Odigbo Local Government Area into a militia camp.

This indication buttressed the widespread claim that killers of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, 58-year-old daughter of the leader of pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, were herdsmen who sneaked out of the reserve to rain bullets on the vehicle she was travelling in.

Olakunrin was killed on Friday as the gunmen ambushed vehicles on the highway and abducted some commuters. Her maid reportedly sustained some gunshot injuries during the attack.

Killers of Fasoranti’s daughter have their base in the forest, say villagers

A former senator who represented Ondo South Senatorial District at the Senate, Boluwaji Kunlere, said hoodlums had been operating around where Olakunrin was killed for a long time.

He said this in an interview with one of our correspondents in Lagos on Saturday.

Kunlere said, “I beefed up security in the area when I was in the Senate. I gave 13 Hilux vans to the police divisions in Ondo South Senatorial District and gave motorcycles to the Department of State Services for surveillance.

“I think the police do not have the manpower to ensure adequate security in the area. The expressway (Benin-Ore-Sagamu Expressway) is where the major problem is. The spot (Kajola) where they killed Baba Fasoranti’s daughter falls between Odigbo and Okitipupa Local Government territory.

“The people living close to the area said Fulani herdsmen had taken over that area and there was a time a bishop was abducted and the police rescued him in that area. Herdsmen are all over the forest. We see them between Omotosho and Igbotako. They graze their cows on the road and strike and they run back to the bush.

“They have been operating there for long but the attack on Baba Fasoranti’s daughter was given a wide publicity because of the man’s influence. The downtrodden have been suffering there for long. There was a time that they exchanged gunfire with the police between Omotosho and Ore in the afternoon and they ran away when they discovered that the police would overpower them.

“When they attacked Chief Olu Falae’s farm then, the police said it was bush burning because of the fear of Abuja. They want to attribute this killing to armed robbers but the locals are saying the killers are herdsmen.

Some residents of Kajola town in the Odigbo council area who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH insisted that some Fulani herdsmen terrorising the area were residing in the forest in the area.

One of the residents identified only as Mr Ola said the herdsmen behaved as if they were above the law, adding that it was not the first time they would perpetrate the act in the area.

He said, “They destroy our farms at will. Their cows always eat up many of our farm produce. We have reported several times to the police but no action was taken. We heard gunshots yesterday (Friday) and it is a common thing in the area. We call on the government to provide adequate security to protect our lives and property.’’

Also, a farmer in Kajola village who gave his name only as Mr Aliu, also said bandits had invaded forests surrounding the village.

He said there had been many criminal activities going on in the forest and nobody stopped them.

Aliu said, “The herdsmen that struck on the expressway yesterday (Friday) stay in the forest around the area. That is not their first time and that is how they operate. We have reported to security agents but nothing has been done about it. We are helpless. Government should come to our aid.”

Another resident who spoke on condition of anonymity also reiterated that the reserve in the Odigbo council area had been inhabited for long by herdsmen.

He said though the reserve belonged to the government, community members now use the place for farming.

The resident, who is a prominent member of the National Association of Odigbo Local Government Students, said herdsmen rampage started in the area at the same time it became rampant in the country.

He said, “Villagers are aware of the activities of herdsmen in the area. There was a time herdsmen cut the wrist of a farmer who confronted them when they took their cows for grazing on his farm.

“The DPO of Ore Police Station intervened in the matter and spoke with members of the community. The vigilantes have had to confront them many times. The vigilantes later constructed a shed in the community and take turns to ensure security in the area. This is a development that is known to people in the community.’’

Politics / Re: Ekiti Set To Return Schools To Missions by chingymingy: 2:35pm On Jul 14, 2019
Juliusmalema:
Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has said his administration will begin  the return of schools to missions in September as part of  the effort to  improve the quality of education in the state.

Fayemi said this  in Ado Ekiti on Friday while hosting the Prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Dr Samuel  Uche.

He  said, “The return of the schools will further stamp the administration’s respect for values.”

He  promised that “the government will work out an efficient and workable model as practised in other states where schools had been transferred  to the missions.”

Fayemi  said his  government would pay the teachers and give the schools  grants  while the missions would take care of administration.

The governor promised to step up the measures put in place by his administration to tackle  farmers-herders clashes  for peace in the state.

He said,  “Anyone caught engaging in any criminal act will be made to face the consequences and addressed as a criminal irrespective of their  tribe.”

The Prelate, who said the purpose of his visit was to pray for the governor and the state, made a  case for the return of some Methodist schools in the state to the mission “so that Godly morals will further be instilled in the pupils.”

Uche described Fayemi as “a good product Ekiti State is lucky to have judging from his antecedents during his first term as governor and as Minister of Solid Minerals Development.”

Politics / Re: Many Senators Are Disappointed With Their Salaries – Uzor Kalu by chingymingy: 1:08pm On Jul 14, 2019
edunwablog:
A former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed that many senators are disappointed with their salaries after they got far below what they expected before getting into the Senate.

Kalu, who is the Chief Whip of the Senate, stated this on Saturday in Abuja when he addressed journalists, promising to give details of what senators earn soon.

He said: “Let me address the issue of jumbo pay. I have received my salary for June and it is far below what you people are writing.

“If a minister is travelling to Lagos, would he use his legs? What you call fat salary are monies used to run the constituency because they don’t give us additional funds.

“It is the money we use when we travel to Abia, Lagos, Badagry or Kaduna. Next meeting, I will unveil to you.

“You will now see that you are maligning and criticising the National Assembly for nothing.

“Most of my colleagues said they did not know it was going to be like this and I said we came to serve our country as senators.

“When they were outside, they were also saying that all the money was carried by the National Assembly which is not true.

“The money they have given them is not going to be enough. I have seen them crying already.

“They came to me to complain because I have seen the good and the ugly.

“I think that the media is not fair to the National Assembly. I call on you people to change your minds because there is no jumbo pay; honestly, I have not seen one.

“If I see jumbo pay that does not represent my conscience, I will speak.

“When I was governor, the state was buying my food; the state paid everything, but as a senator, nobody does that.”

Alaye are you not thinking that the driver and maid will have been first questioned by the Afenifere and Fasoranti's family before them Afenifere released the first report that it was herdsmen attack.

Now they're playing politics as usually bending their mouth to say it's masked men.

Even if the entire country divides we'll still be divided amongst us because we've seen it as a way of life.

BMedia:
So sad, may her soul rest in peace.

However from the eye witness account of her driver, there was nothing to even suggest that the attack was done by any Fulani herdsmen.

It makes any thinker wonder if we just started having masked armed robbers on our highways. Did they all suddenly repent at once? Or did they go on holiday? Let us use our brains for goodness sake.

We should be careful in labeling every killing in the south to herdsmen because not only does it mean we cannot find the true killers as we are pointing in the wrong direction, but we are also dancing to the tune of enemies of this country who seem to want a war between Yoruba and the North for their selfish and wicked interests.

Sadiq Saleh Jambo, son of late oil mogul Mallam Saleh Jambo OON and his lovely hearthrob Fatima Abdulkadir Abacha

The Kano state born entrepreneur and principal partner of Kaibo Triax

In truth, it was beautiful, exciting, thrilling and fun filled on that prestigious day- 7th July 2019 at the Silverbird private floor chambers where Sadiq, the Ambassador in youth empowerment and humanitarian of Prince Osisioma Foundation officially quits bachalorhood into a blissful matrimony with the woman after his heart. The event can be best describead as the wedding of the year as no expense was spared in making it a joyful and memorable day for the couple and their guests.

The groom looked handsome and dashing in his choice of Blue and black Suits while the bride was looking gorgeous and radiant as ever in her princess wedding gown with both of them looking exceptionally attractive.

Mr Sadiq Saleh Jambo with fulfilled mind and a sense of accomplishment thanked all those that found time to grace his occasion especially the Father of the day Arthur Eze whose presence added colour to the wedding impressions. He further commended Chairman of Prince Osisioma Foundation, Dr. Onyeka Eze and a host of others dignitaries for putting up appearance.
