I took delivery of my car yesterday. I have Uber all setup and am good to go but throughout today,I didn't see any request. All I keep getting is You're online / Finding Trips. Is this normal. Although I no comot for my Office area in Fagba so technically not like I was ready to accept any request, I was just test running. Please I need advise from an Experienced Driver. Thanks

They said I reversed when i was about to mount Airport road bridge which was true as i was not working sure of the route to take to Anthony until a good Samaritan told me not to climb the bridge and descend back to take Gbagada expressway which i was about to do when they arrested me, i couldn't move forward neither can i reversed back.
Then i started begging, shed tears ,something i haven't done in 4 years. All my pleas fell in to deaf ears, they said they would tow my vehicle .
We deliberated back and forth and showed them how much i had left with me ,they grabbed it and let me off.
It wasn't funny as i cried all the way home. I couldn't eat my breakfast self.

I still dey road sha, already done like 6trips since i entered the road around 1pm.

In Lagos never, never never make a reverse when ever you miss a turn. Just keep moving and go turn round to where you missed the turn. You can give your rider a discount after the trip. Is a big lesson I learned in a hard way. Only the humiliation can traumatise you.

25k weekly rental will only make sense from an investor perspective if d driver takes care of maintenance which in most cases would not be done promptly as it should be...simple

A driver responsible for maintenance and still fails to do it knows nothing about business, and have no knowledge about cars. Do away with such a person and save yourself high BP. Poor remittances shouldn't be the only reason to remove a car from a driver. Poor maintenance culture, bad driving skill and style, lack of road and traffic awareness should also count. If the driver is in charge of maintenance, car owner should recall the car for inspection once in while:check oil gauge, ask for what type of oil used, body scratches etc
You just cannot be in this business and not have basic ideas about cars. Nobody knows it all but you should know the basics. And as a car owner ask questions even when there are no questions, it makes the driver alive to his responsibility.
And sometimes you need to run trainings for your drivers. That's just the truth. Training doesnt necasrily mean you bring them to four wall classroom with pen and paper. With in short period of 10minutes talk to them about these things. Drivers don't know it all. We are still fallible human beings.
This is business, but most car owners don't treat it as business. They feel drivers are super hero motorpack touts who must deliver at all cost.

No Nigerian youth is lazy, at same time no Nigerian youth is ready to be a slave for another, no matter how down the economy is. I believe in working smart than working hard. All about your bargaining power. Whether 25k or 30k the both have their own advantage and disadvantage.
And try not to attack people when you make your point. We can still have a healthy conversation and take something away from the forum.

25k/weekly is what I ask for, and I will still get a car owner. Car owners that ask for 30k will eventually fall out favour with the driver. After some time the driver starts remitting excuses, 30k is becoming unrealistic, unless you want to work from 5am to 1am everyday. I have gotten many 25k/weekly. Problem is owner is not around my Location.
