Hello Bolts,

We implore you to kindly look into the issues Drivers have been raising, so we can collectively and mutually benefit and enjoy the partnership relationship between Drivers community and your e-hailing ride sharing platform.

Your continuous disregard to situation of Drivers will one day serve as throw back to the operations of Bolts as an e-hailing company in the country.

Please kindly investigate and conduct proper research into the issue of poor and very low fare charges on trips offered to potential riders and customers especially in the city of Lagos.

Obstacles such as Traffic congestion, Terrible bad road network, Excessive interference of Law enforcement agents, increasing cost of vehicle parts, high cost of vehicle maintenance and repair, these and many more has hampered Drivers efforts to deliver quality service to customers and riders.

Adding to this now, is Bolts deliberate and conscious disbursement of close to zero charges and ride promos at the expense of Drivers pains and sweat, coupled with the back-breaking percentage commission charge of 20% levied on Drivers gross income.

The Drivers are sacrificing more than convenient and more than necessary to ensure the Team work which we signed into, yield results. We the Drivers under your platform Pray, that you likewise put forward a commiserate energy to the success of all this promotions in the following measures.

Firstly, the Drivers under your platform seek for a downward review of the companies Percentage commission, at most to an appreciable level. Convenient for all the connected stakeholders in the industry, namely Bolts, Drivers, Car owners(Investors), Riders etc.

Secondly, the Drivers under your platform seek and request, that you reverse and re-position the fare charges for trips to be at par with the quality, top notch, efficient service delivered at the door steps of homes, offices and at all hours as required by our highly esteemed customers and riders of this great establishment.

We kindly envisage and appreciate your prompt and respectful response to this requests. Thanks in advance and Remain Blessed.

Bolts Driver.

Stop comparing abroad people with 9ja. We always get what we deserve in this country and people abroad gets what ever they want.

The day we all wake up to knowing what we really want as a people in Nigeria we shall rise up and fight for it but for now let us all enjoy the way things are.

I have seen the white in the carry blackcards protesting against low fares, rude riders inbthe system, axing of drivers due to rating, injustice and all sort but never for once have I seen the people of nigeria protest against a thing in this country.

Social media noise or emails won't do anything and has never done anything... Like I said, we deserve what we get and until we know what we want then we would get what ever we want.

Not just low, but terribly insulting. I get this remark a lot from Riders. Some Riders are dumb founded at the price that they stare at my phone's screen a bit confused that I had to confirm it by words to assure them.

You guys should join #uberlyft group on Facebook and see what Drivers earn abroad, in LA, new York city, Florida etc their fares are fantastic. Drivers there hardly run more than 4 trips and they're done for that day.

Anyways, I have missiled #bolt my message for the day on Facebook, is better than complaining and doing nothing.

Drivers will only shout for two days and that is it, very unfortunate.
They may not even notice as they will be busy moving Lagos to ogun state, chaii

Exactly, many drivers do not realise how ridiculously low the fare charges are in this present economy. The thrill around the usage of the app makes many work like donkeys trying to meet unrealistic targets, ignorantly. I for example came to fathom the very poor fare charges imposed on our Luxury sedans, from when I took a break since January (I can't come and go and kill myself) and lockdown break. Looking at those fares is disheartening, only God can deliver HP guys through this peril. I don't intend Driving for #uberbolts until a commiserate fare charges are approved, or my own car, (my own downtool has started) though I have not started anything else yet.

Meanwhile, I have taken the advantage of my leisure time to bombard #bolts with messages and letters regarding their operations and treatment of Drivers under their platforms, via Facebook, Twitter and company email channels. Although, no reply has been forthcoming, I am not relenting, if you have the time join in this crusade in whatever part you can play individually.

Write to them constructively and precise about the regressive plight facing Drivers on their platforms, via every available channel you can reach. It's not by compulsion you should downtool as I have done, since Drivers have different capabilities and challenges, but if we can compel erring Riders who failed to comply to payment to respond at will, I feel we can yeild same result applying same pressure, instead of mumurring and complaining among ourselves.
Below is a message I sent to #bolts email channel.

Alternative to Corolla
Best alternative to Toyota Corolla 2007

The way this industry is going, more and more of those Hutchins will focus on Uber/Taxify drivers and riders. Forward thinking, which car una dey advice?

Honda civic, Hyundai Elantra, Benz c230, Nissan sunny etc just any car that has a C4 engine and does not cost more than N1.5m so you can recoup with in a shortest time possible.

He gave them the password to his phone, the one with it was searching through the phone while the second was asking questions. Rider is clean and well spoken, told them what he does and every necessary details about himself. He was with his laptop, he offered to turn it on for them if they are not satisfied with what he’s told them so far or seen on his phone.

When they saw that it was a bad market, nothing to use against him, they changed it to why didnt we stop when they flashed me and trying to run away from them, he told them he was rushing for a meeting, that we’ve been driving fast from Ikoyi.

One of them turned to me and said ‘why did you not stop for us’?
I replied him saying: I’m just doing my job.

He didn’t say anything. They requested to search the car, and the guy, they did their thing and when they didn’t see anything incriminating. They said we’d let you go because of your cooperation.
...……...................

This experience almost gave me a heart attack, my heart was beating really fast when one of them stood in front of my car with handcuffs. Different thoughts ran through my mind, like what have I done wrong , I didn’t commit any traffic offense or is it now a crime to drive fast ?

Immediately I completed the trip, I went offline and proceeded to the nearest bar to drink chilled Guinness to calm my heart grin
These people no go kill me.
..........................

This is exactly how the operate. I'm certain it was same people that accustated me and my Riders. Same method, same pattern. Except I loss on both side seriously.

I was at circle mall ShopRite Jakande when a request came in. It was alady on corper uniform and her guy friend. Two respectable looking lovebirds. I drove across the spacious packing lot to their position. They were followed by an attendant of one of the restaurant where they just came out. As they entered the guy whispered to me to lend them N3k so they could settle the attendant. I had no problems to assist them, they look very responsible.

Anyways, the trip startd destination was Novare ShopRite sangotedo. Which sounds corky, from ShopRite to ShopRite, but none of my business. The two sat behind jisting away with no worries. They were secondary school mates getting together after a very long time. The guy stays up north while the lady was serving her father land in Lagos.

We stopped at VGC traffic light just before the light turned green, a man appeared from nowhere and stood in front of my car signalling us to stop. They guided me to pack at the side of the road and they were knocking on the windows for us to open. I looked at my Riders the girl was scared to hell, and guy was just normal, for me, I was confused, I thought they were robbers, but certainly not in the open because people have started gathering.

I rolled down my window, they were busy barking orders for us to open the doors, of which I told my Riders not to, I became confrontational.
"Who are you" I barked back,
"we are men of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC, Have you heard of the EFCC before?"
"Eh" was all I could utter.
"Good, is not you we after, driver. We are after your passenger, please step out of the vehicle and go and enter that car"

The ordered the young guy into another car and one of them joined us in the front seat, he ask me to drive and follow their own corolla. We drove towards Abraham Adesanya round about, turned and started heading back to Ajah. That was when I said no I can't continue with the journey, they rider should settle me and let me find my way. The guy with us called his colleagues and after the talked, the man asked me not to end the trip that the rider will surely pay me, that we are going to EFCC office at Ikoyi. That the guy has refused to cooperate so they're taking him in. I and the corper girl asked him what has the guy done wrong, the man said the guy is a member of a bigger syndicate of yahoo boys and they have complete info on him and a number of his contacts. He's not the only one, they're taking them one by one, he continued to say.

He began to ask the corper girl how she knew him. The girl claimed he was a secondary school mate, they just got together after about 9 years, so she can't really vouch for his activity. The man adviced her keep far away from him. And she was like why, why must she keep away, he is her friend etc me, I just kept driving. We passed VI, climbed the bridge connecting Ikoyi, got to Gerard road made U-turn, got to falomo under bridge round about turned right towards Awolowo rd, then the guy asked me to pack at the first bus stop. The guy was busy on call with his colleagues, after a while they came and took the corper girl leaving me and the EFCC guy in the front seat. We waited for another 10mins, they brought the yahoo guy back to join us in the car. The EFCC guy Infront asked me to drive forward, when we got to the first Traffic light on Awolowo rd he asked me to make a U-turn. We drove towards the falomo under bridge then parked at a busstop a distance to the famolo under bridge. We waited there for good 1 hour, no one spoke. The yahoo guy was at the back , looking behind me at him, he was like he was almost crying.

Then a call came in the EFCC guy asked me to drive forward towards the falomo under bridge round about, we stopped and waited Infront of the filling station by the right, police men on uniform will appear to arrest us for wrong packing because we were actually causing holdup at the back, the effcc guy will wave them away and ask me to park right there and ignore the horns and abuses from other drivers.

After a long wait they came back with the corper girl, as the girl got in, the guy in the front came down and they asked us to go. I drove us back towards Lekki to a new destination Osapa London estate. The corper girl was frightened and the yahoo guy was furious, calling and alerting his crew. Me I was like my money. While he was on call I overheard his crew member telling him that it was the Uber driver that set you up. Once he ended his call, na so this yahoo guy face me. That he had to settle those guys N200,000 cash, that they used the corper girl to go and withdraw the money which explains the waiting period at the busstop.

This yahoo guy insist that I mustn't drop them at his home. So they alighted along the street. I end trip N5100 +N3000=N8100, yahoo guy said he has no money. Those magu boys took it all and he began to promise that he will surely pay me. He asked that I promise not to harass his corper girlfriend since she was the one that requested me. I and the guy we still chat and talk, but about other things, he said he never hammer.

I simply told him to change his lifestyle. I wonder if he was hushpuppi crew.

THE CIRCLE OF POVERTY
THE GODFATHER

Interesting reading.:-
I run a manufacturing business and a trading business.
The biggest challenge in my manufacturing business is not power, or infrastructure, the biggest challenge is getting honest staff. Everyone we hire is appears to be on a mission to steal as much as possible. Inflated invoices, recording less than the actual number of units produced. The worst part of it all is that all the fraud we've uncovered is not done by a single person, it's usually many staff who collude with each other, from production, to sales, to finance, even top management. There was a year I overhauled management 3 times in a year. But I've found a solution sha, I now use Indian management. So competent, so honest and so straightforward. I thought they were expensive at first with all the visa fees, accommodation, house staff, but now that losses due to staff theft have been reduced to a minimum, and efficiency increased, the Indian management has turned out to be cheaper than the previous Nigerian management. Now, all sensitive positions involving money go to Indians. Nigerians are only allowed in non-sensitive positions. I used to criticize companies like Dangote Group that hire so many Indians when there are many unemployed Nigerians, but now, I understand their decision.

My biggest challenge in the trading business is the same, getting honest staff. The form of trading occurs in the open market, and involves staff having access to huge sums of money running into a few millions. I know how much I pay to security companies to provide escorts for the staff, not to prevent robbery, but to ensure that the staff go straight to the bank to deposit the money after the day's sales and not disappear with my money. This money spent on security companies is even enough to be declared as profit. We have to spend on CCTV, biometric scanners and other things that wouldn't not be needed if staff weren't looking for the slightest opportunity to steal.

It got so bad at a point that my main criteria for employing staff was no longer competency but honesty. At least, competency and skills can be learnt, but once you're dishonest, you're dishonest.

We always complain of the economy and how they are no jobs. I know people abroad who would have loved to set up job creating businesses in Nigeria but they can't because they can't get any trustworthy person to run it.

I know people in Nigeria with so much money, they want to start factories and other job-creating businesses but they can't because they are occupied elsewhere and can't get any trustworthy person to run the business. So instead of investing in the real sector and creating jobs, they'll just buy treasury bills, while the thieves are shouting no jobs.

Many big businesses would have been born in Nigeria if we could engage in partnerships, but we cant because you can't trust anyone. This is one advantage the Indians and Lebanese have over us in Nigeria. They can pull resources together and do mega-business, unlike Nigerians that because only one person must do everything since we can't partner, end up with small, tiny businesses.

Start a poultry and they will be stealing your eggs. Some will even go
ahead to be killing the chickens so that they'll be allowed to take them home.

Start an entertainment/viewing/game center and they'll be pocketing
your money. On the days you're around at the business, the money
realized will be x10 of the money realized when you're not around.
Because they're eating your money.

Lease out a vehicle to a driver to use and watch as he'll finish you.

Start a restaurant, the same thing will happen. More than half of the
total food ingredients will end up in their personal kitchens.

Even ordinary provisions shop, they will find a way to steal.

You'll see them with that their evil, wicked saying "na where person dey work, na there e dey chop, na e make dem dey callam workchop/workshop"...... Just imagine, justifying theft at work.

And you'll see these people point their crooked fingers at politicians when they're not any different. I usually say the reason most Nigerians haven't stolen billions of government money, is simply lack of opportunity.

Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria.

Very much do not agree. When a greedy big shot with plenty of money, but still wants to cheat and use people fails to achieve their selfish aim, they'll turn motivational.

But this same Nigerians still go abroad and are doing exploits and making waves in different spheres.

In this aspect Dangote and co who still patronize expartrates are simply unpatrotic.

When your staff are not happy, of course they'll find a way to make themselves happy.

Foreigners come to naija, set up a firm and are thriving, is only indigenious Nigerian entrepreneurs that seem to have this complain.

Hello guys, good morning. Please I need advice, I asked my brother to help me with a car to use as Uber business, the car will serve as a loan to be repaid within a stipulated time. My challenge is that instead of the regular 2004 - 2006 Toyota Corolla, he bought the 2010 for me. Please is this car too fragile for the Uber business, what are the pros and cons of using this car? Thank you all

Do not use this car for uber in Lagos, I repeat, do not attempt to use this car for uber in Lagos for UberBolts fares of N400. Not even for part time. Is just not worth.

If my brother was stubborn to change it for 06, I will just simply park it for private use and keep posting my brother.

After 3 months, this car will not look like this again, and your brother will still blame you.

Or sell it, buy an 06 cool and get some change.

I think he has been doing this and getting away successfully but this time around he must pay. I have his picture and just holding on till end of today before I know what to do....thank you

We need to tell these stories to guide others.

I picked this guy up at a hotel somewhere in Before at about 8pm Saturday night, every where was grooving, the clubs where overflowing, hotels filled and business was good. The requests was just flowing back to back. The guy said he need to go pick a girl for the night and I'll bring him back, and he hopped in. I was about to ask him to request me online when he offered offline, well the night is even getting better. Not realizing my mistake.

All the signs was showing on this guy, but my excitement wont let me think. First thing I noticed was, he uses a button phone, this age and time? And he was busy on call all through the journey asking some guy to wait for him at the hotel. He kept raising his voice at the guy on the other side, which was a second sign, still my mind didn't reason to throw him out. We got to the popular Total joint at Abraham Adesanya, hotspot for children runs babes and he selected his choice.

The girl, (toddler) jumped in the back, what a risk this girls go through for N10k a night. On our way back the phone call started again, together with his scam intro. Still can't believe how i fell for this, over excitement maybe.

He was like he need to give this guy waiting for him at the hotel some money, that I should borrow him some. And add it up to the trip fare and he'll transfer it all. Right there and then I told him no way, can't do that. Still he kept asking and i kept saying no. His phone rang again and he and the caller continued their shouting match. After the call he said his guy has left the hotel that we should go straight to the guys location and i will still take him and his pretty, sweet, fine olosho to his hotel.

We got to the spot and his guy appeared, and shouting competition started again, they were almost throwing punches. This is when i should have taken off. But my stupid intervention with my hard earned N2k got them resolved and the journey continued with this crook fuming and swearing till we got to the hotel. I billed him N4k in total and he proceeded to make a transfer.

Nobody leaves till i get my alert, the guy continued fuming and causing, club music was vibrating the place and the requests, damn, the requests just kept coming one after the other. And I kept ignoring them. Suddenly the guy exclaimed that he has been debitted. Well that was a sure proof, let me see it first, I asked him. And he showed it to me. I could swore I saw a debit alert to... The screen of this button phones has grown smaller the past years. Gring-grindg! Oh the request. Guy if I no see alert I dey come back here. I said to him, since I live on the island. I took off for the next ride.

Fast forward, 5am Sunday morning, the requests has not stopped, but i did, dozed off in the car at a police check point for safety. Even the check point has vanished, what a crazy but profiting allnight. I ignored the request for real this time, went offline, blew empty from phase 1 straight to the hotel.

An hour later was speaking with the hotel management trying to describe the guy. Surprisingly even management of the hotel was waiting for this same guy. Around 9am this guy came out, management didn't want to confront him in his room. Upon appearing at the reception the hotel security was upon him before I could say guy my money! The striped him off his gadgets (touch light button phone). Management wants their pay first before any other. Guy was practically empty, he is not only a crook, he is broke. Security held him at the office, he is not going back to his room and not leaving the hotel. Only thing he kept saying is you'll get your money, no remorse, he was threatening everybody. Management called for street backup, they were going to treat his fvck up (beating) right there and then. I knew my money was gone. I just simply went on line and the next request took me out of there, straight home.

Later in the afternooning i called that hotel security man, he told me they let the guy go out to go get their money and one of their staff is likely to pay for his bill through deduction from her salary. Sad!

I also had to ask.

Well when the guy didn't show, around 12 noon, manager have to invite her to his office for further discussion. They're still discussing.

I still believe that Transfer is the safest, fastest and easy way to make payment. Just be sharp and blunt until you confirm your payment.

Thanks.

Pls What of bolt account, can I buy a bolt account?

Buying and selling accounts is fraud. The first one you did is useless to you and now you want to do another one.

Riders will report you since your face is different from the picture on the account profile. Unless you plan to wear face mask all the time. And the picture on account cannot be changed except you visit their office to request it.

Simply go to their office and go through the normal registration is actually very easy. Maryland shopping mall for Uber. And Razaq Balogun, surulere for Bolts. Best of luck.

In May, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), had also said ministers can’t remove head of agencies.

Actually Boss Mustapha is the presido.

It was the SGF that said ministers can not remove nor suspend heads of agencies. And not the President himself. The President himself has not come out to make this statement. Unless the SGF is the President.

This governor is not doing anything, people are just singing his praise simply because he is the first governor from Nsukka zone.

Even the zone where he's from he has not done anything. He is just busy seizing lands and selling state government lands to compensate friends and cronies.

PDP should never be trusted.

If you are able to save and buy a Toks. My broda, go that route.

Don't let anybody sweet talk you into buying any used vehicle.

If you are a newbie to car issues. n you go n sink 800k on a dead car for ehailing.

My broda, Lagos mechanics will show you pepper. What's 200k on repairs!

Unless, there are no other options, if you want to do ehailing, getting a toks is d safest option.

What about buying a naija used, change the engine to a tokumbo engine and gear. But the body remains the same. Will it serve well for ehailing? Just asking.

Because investing over N1.8m on tokumbo for ehailing right now is at high risk. When will you recover your capital.

This is will water down the excessive powers these governors have over their states. The State houses can legislate properly. Kudos to Buhari. More of these moves.
