Most people who decide to do that are financially well-to-do in Nigeria anyway. Never heard of a case whereby the parents ignore hospital bills.

Two of my cousins were born in the States when their mother came visiting but they live in Nigeria now. They visit here regularly anyway and own a home in the States. The kids would probably move back for college and I'm sure their parents owe no hospital debts.

My view - nothing wrong with it for those who visit regularly and can afford hospital bills, everyone knows the benefits of being a US citizen esp. if the kids are going to later move back there for their studies.

By the way, I train my kids to kneel down to greet elders. That way, they are unlikely to snatch a purse from an old lady at the bus stop or break into a house and torture an old couple somewhere in a quiet street in the UK as it happens here frequently.

If you believe that then, I don't know what to tell you.
In Naija, I've seen some little girls kneel down on the street to greet some "elderly lady" and after she walked past, they mumbled some bad stuff about her.

The way people think doesn't always match the way they act or the way you want them to.

What do psychologists call that? cognitive dissonance. So, yeah, they can try matching their thoughts with their actions by robbing an old couple.  Not that it particularly pertains to your kids. But this whole kneeling down thing is done by some people just because they were made to do so by their parents growing up, doesn't necessarily make them respectful.
