Paving the way as in if he hadn't hit Rihanna and gone into a bit of an obscurity, he would still be dropping hit songs for his numerous fans who would still be feeling him as well as his music. Basically, he'd be too much in the limelight for Trey and co. to be this noticed. Was anybody really talking about Trey and his music in '05 albeit he did come out early '05 while Chris did late '05? Note that Chris was only 16 too, younger than the average R&B sensation. He "paved the way" jor though not intentionally.
