I tend to blow my ice cream subconsciously with my mouth to stop it from freezing my teeth. Doesn't make sense since ice cream is a cold food. I realize and stop. But still happens the next time. |

SEFAGO: There is a Chrisland in VGC so thats probably the one. I used to see the loud troublesome, and boisterous kids there. Just saying I don't think it's in VGC. If so, they would be going from home not living in school. There's def. another Chrisland. Na you sabi but then some of those kids are troublesome, not gonna lie. |

michelin89: That's because being skinny these days is in.
In Nigeria being called skinny is not appreciated because na meat dey reign for there. Yes, I got that all the time in naija But I don't stress over it. Even in America, people make that comment and not as a compliment. e.g "you're so skinny girl, you should eat more". It's everywhere, some people just let it affect them more than others. So long as you're eating healthy and not starving yourself or binge-eating, I don't see why people shouldn't accept themselves the way they are. |

chic2pimp: Don't mind those useless twats jare
That was the exact point she was trying to make . Bloody douchebag
p:s Was going to ask what that village of 300 peeps was all about? Village of 300 indeed. Pheww, didn't even know the population but after that I asked my parents and it's way more than that - 10,000 or something. But that part was irrelevant because I never said anything about village, she called me just to add that info. shilling: Oh my gosh, when I first got here, although I hadn't lived in Nigeria since forever, I am still Nigerian and people would be going, wow, you're English is sooooo good. My algebra professor was shocked that I could speak english and that I knew the pi (3.142) symbol, "Do you have a symbol like that in Africa? Feel free to translate math into your native language to make it easier for you." In my mind, I'm going - woman, I don't even speak my native language Hehehe, the questions really never stop. All one can really do is continue to prove them wrong. I don't see how likely it is for someone who NEVER knew English to come to excel in it more than the people born into it. chic2pimp: Primary School right? What part of lagos do your cousins reside? (not stalking ooo ) Noooo, secondary school. Their Chris land is a boarding school. But their parents house is in VGC. |

michelin89: Fat/plump/chubby women like to see themselves as thick.
But they don't have:
flat and toned tummy Toned and defined tighs and legs Toned, cellulite freed backside Toned arms.
They are mostly flabby, yet claim they are thick. True. The word, fat in itself is considered derogatory. So, I guess they avoid it by calling themselves a more desirable word - thick. But I don't see the difference since skinny people are called skinny. |

Seriously, I was mad at first 'cause the reporter was really nice during the interview. And I'd expect a reporter to know that Nigeria's official language is English. I think she commented on how good my English was considering how long I've been here. . .and then she went and wrote that. But after I thought about it, I had to laugh. She just had to give America credit - reason why she specifically called my cell phone a day AFTER the interview asking about my village. I know the name of my village but not familiar with its population and such as I never lived there. She put village of 300 or some funny crap. lol so basically, this girl came from an uncivilized village in Nigeria and with America's help teaching her the English language, she became the Valedictorian! Yay! That was the whole point |

But seriously though cut down on the info you place online. Before we know it you would give us your phone number, then chic2pimp, H2O2, and even becomrich would be calling you asking you for dates so that they can have smart children. That's just like someone saying they live in Ikeja area of Lagos. HP is actually big, whoever is stalking can't find me. I'm not even in Boston now. Phone number indeed. |

SEFAGO: Don't worry , a lot of them are on nairaland though. But it depends on whats the fad- during my time it was adesoye, olashore, Atlantic halls, loyola jesuits, vivian fowler and lagoon.
smart naija people seeing how nigerian parents select schools based on how expensive they are and not how good they are set up shop, and before you know it schools like lekki british international school, british international school, dowen college came up. I was gonna cross out that question, like you would answer. You went to Adesoye!! H2O2: i'm probably the nicest person on NL

Good job! ibkaye: you are brilliant aren't you, congrats skfa1: Congrat my friend chiogo Thanks, guys. H2O2: chinch but i didn't insult you That's the problem. It's weird when you're being nice. SEFAGO: Thats where i lived, not where i did secondary school. i did secondary school on the mainland and i think it was the best decision my parents made for me. It shaped me into a survivor- lagos public school no be small joke. In between fights with rival schools which involved broken bottles and wooden sticks, as well as studying for math exams, and being bullied by seniors (who consistently too my pocket money until one dey I vex for them and set a trap which got most of them expelled ), school was crazy. What school was that? Was it boarding? My sis went to one. Usually people living in VI send their kids to Chris land, etc. platinumnk: I didnt mean you hon, but a lot of people come down on Public school systems, yes its bad but they percieve that a lot of people arent intelligent The Gifted and Magnet system is pretty doable. Hehe, people generally look down on Public schools(at high school level anyway). Even in Naija. Most times, it's not about the students but the quality of the school system but the stereotypes extend to the students since the school gives you whatever knowledge you have. SEFAGO for instance, believes the stereotypes from his posts. |
