Profgordons: I think after your PGWP, because that is when you will have a new status. Okay thanks a lot. Waiting for the PGWP would be adding extra 6months on top of the time I would have applied after the wedding. Probably the only option is to apply during study permit validity and then apply for an extension. |
Travel › Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by ChiPromise: 10:10am On Mar 12, 2023 |
Profgordons: I believe you know the answers but just for clarity, what you are thinking is exactly what will happen, his status is tied to yours in terms of WP. So you can decide to apply soon after the wedding but he will most likely need an extension if granted.
An easier solution would have been visitor visa as this would likely grant him a longer access to cover the duration you require but VV is somewhat unpredictable these days but it still happens. In that case, is it better to apply for his SOWP when I'm applying for my PGWP? |

Pls house, sm1 should advice me. I'm in Canada on a study permit but my wedding is in June for which I'm to travel to Nigeria. My study is ending in August and permit expiring in November b4 which I'll apply for PGWP. The question is, should i apply for SOWP soon after the wedding? And what length of visa will he likely be given? Would it lap into my pgwp or would I have to apply for extention for his SOWP? |

Leadforteservic: The last person I know that used Ethiopian air 2 days didn't stop at Washington but Ireland for refuelling at second stopover.
If your in Lagos visit their office for better clarification and Travel plan or call their customer care number. Pls how do I get their customer care line? |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by ChiPromise: 4:21pm On Jan 07, 2023 |
Ethiopian airline has their second stop at Washington this period |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by ChiPromise: 4:15pm On Jan 07, 2023 |
Leadforteservic: I don't think so, for example Ethiopian air usually have two layovers, the first is at its home country and the second is at Ireland(which doesn't require transit visa) before final stop at Toronto and similar thing applies to Egypt air too. It's few of the international airline(like United airlines and delta airline) that usually have layover at American but not African airlines. Most of their flights this period are stopping at Washington (IAD). Pls those that have already traveled should give me insight on this. |

Leadforteservic: Ethiopian air and Egypt air are the cheapest The problem is the routes. Most of them require transit visa like Washington (IAD) |

Bamz555: The thing is although it’s prayers and trusting God to do it. But I don’t want my wife to be too heavy bfr we travel that’s actually my concern. Everything na still God na why I deh ask about possibility of 2 months earlier to resumption date Kindly note that if your wife is already pregnant, she won't be able to undergo Xray for Medical exam. In other words, she may not be given visa currently until she puts to bed and then undergoes the Xray. |
