PoliticsPresident Tinubu's First 5 Weeks In Office: A Performance Evaluation by chiTT(op): 8:27pm On Jul 05, 2023
President Tinubu has been in office for just over one month and one week, during which he has demonstrated a proactive approach and implemented some noteworthy initiatives. These include:

1. Restructuring the military leadership by dismissing and replacing all service chiefs. This move indicates a commitment to improving national security and addressing the ongoing challenges in that area. This move was highly expected.

2. Suspending the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, who was facing controversies. This action showcases the President's willingness to address issues of misconduct and maintain accountability within key institutions. Critics may argue this was personal vendetta. I do not believe the president should have the power to suspend the CBN governor anyway, but it is within the power of his office, nothing illegal here.

3. Suspending the former head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Bawa. This decision reflects a commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring a transparent and efficient administration.

4. Urging the Central Bank of Nigeria to harmonize exchange rates to the Investors and Exporters (I/E) window. This step demonstrates an understanding of the need for stability in the foreign exchange market and an effort to create a conducive environment for businesses and investors.

5. Signing into law bills that were previously ignored, such as the Student Loan Programme and the Electricity Bill. This shows a proactive approach to addressing critical issues that were previously neglected.

6. The Appointment of Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff and George Aukme as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF): President Tinubu's decision to appoint Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff and George Aukme as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) reflects a strong emphasis on competence and experience in key positions of his administration.

However, it has not all been smooth sailing, he has made some blunders:

1. “Subsidy is gone” remark: While the removal of subsidies may be a necessary policy shift, the timing and lack of proper communication was reckless and led to hoarding and sudden price hikes, causing unnecessary hardship. The President should have addressed the nation on live television shortly after assuming office, providing a detailed explanation of the policy shift to avoid confusion.

2. Delay in forming a cabinet. Ideally, a President should have a list of potential ministers and line ministries prepared even before elections. This would ensure a smooth transition and allow for timely legislative screening. However, it has been five weeks since President Tinubu took office, and no ministerial list has been released yet.

Overall, President Tinubu has demonstrated an open-door policy, actively engaging with various stakeholders at home and abroad to strategize on moving Nigeria forward. While it is too early to assess substantial progress, these initial actions show promise. Taking into account the subsidy removal fiasco and the delay in forming a cabinet, President Tinubu's performance thus far warrants a B+ grade. I must note that nothing of substance that has positively affected the everyday Nigerian has happened, it is still early days, a more comprehensive evaluation can be made after his first 100 days in office.
AgricultureWorld Hunger Is Solvable by chiTT(op):
One of the most important discoveries in the 20th century was the conversion of nitrogen in the air in the Haber-Bosch process to produce NH3 (Ammonia) which is pitoval in the producion of inorganic fertilizer.
The major inorganic fertilizer components are; Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK).

There are roughly 7.8 billion people on Earth, and each needs ~1.4 kg of food (excluding water) on average every day. That translates to about 3.7 billion metric tons of food a year to feed everyone.
4 billion tons of food is produced every year and about 1.3 billion goes to waste (Bloomberg, 2020). Only 68% of food is actually used up.

Without inorganic fertilizers, the world will be able to produce only (2/3) of the 4 billion tons of food (Claudia Flavell-While,2010), which means 2.67bn tons and going by the rate of food waste of 32.5%, we would have only 1.8bn tons of food to go round on a yearly basis, yes you could argue people would waste food less maybe, but either way there will be chronic food shortages. Fertilizers have boosted food produced by at least 50%.

With these facts, indeed the world produces more than enough food to go round, if efficiency is improved.
Technically, there is no reason why anyone should go hungry, however the only stumbling block is POLITICAL WILL and FINANCING. The technical part of boosting output has been solved.

All the food produced but never eaten would be sufficient to feed two billion people. That's more than twice the number of undernourished people across the globe (WFP, 2020).
However, I'm very optimistic world hunger will be solved soon once there is political will and genuine resolve.

Ngasky:
Who is responsible for printing money?
Secondly, did they share the printed cash at the federal executive meeting where all the governors and ministers are present?
No single camera pic of the governors carrying sacks of printed money away from Aso rock venue?
I wish we have educated literates but unfortunately what we are having are educated illiterates roaming the streets with degree paper.
Printing money is always on regular basis to replace the mutilated ones, and nowadays more transactions were electronically based not cash based. So the issue of printing for sharing does not arise. Or can someone tell me a single state in Nigeria that is paying salary or state contractors with physical cash?
Sharing money from reserves is a normal tradition. In fact that is the main reason for creating those special accounts. To save for rainy days. Of what essence is the account if not to share when the state revenues goes down?
All the big taxes from companies are paid once in a year. As such that particular month the company paid. And will not pay again till next year. As such the government has to save the excess amount pending the months with lower revenue. So what is the deal here?
you don't seem to know much
money printing does not mean 'physical money printing' it mostly happens with a click of a button. 60bn was digitally created out of thin air and credited to the state accounts

As an Abian living in Aba, I will say that Okezie Ikpeazu since he came in power in 2015 has been working on Roads. But the problem is that he constructs inferior roads.

I also recently noticed that Environmental sanitation has been improved. But the problem is that he shouldn't have opened disposal of dirt into Bakassi dump as it is causing strong Air pollution.

Lastly, op that is not Osisioma junction. That is ASA Road. Osisioma has already been occupied by a Center Table fly over
do you know where Asa road is?
