~ Praises for Licensed Crime & Chizi Ezugwu… Licensed Crime… Utterly heartbreaking and full of twists that keep you in the dark until the very end. Told in the first person narrative, the novel showcases the raw talent of Chizi Ezugwu as a storyteller with a distinct African (Nigerian) vibe. You can’t help but love this book. Highly recommended. ~ Dr. Chikezie E. Uzuegbunam Licensed Crime is a rhapsody of dark and complex realities. It breaks gradually into the crust of societal ills with the cutting sledge of pleasurable creativity. The intensity of styles and techniques in the novel has bought the writer a ticket to the hall of evolving contemporary African writers. -Michael N. Eze (PhD) ~ Intro If all women are as brave and determined as Grandma, then men need not lead us to war; women can successfully do that. Men don’t even need to bother about handling any brave-related task; women can do all that for us. But men should be ready to always bow the knee and pay obeisance because Grandma would not take any nonsense. Like if you want me to post the story chapter by chapter. I lost so many business deals this period because I chose to obey the governor's order. Now, it is painful to note that others were travelling up and down while we obeyed and these same people will still bring the disease home after enjoying freedom. IN THE LIGHT OF COVID-19 I have patiently observed the Covid-19 drama unfold and while we hopefully await a sure intervention, let me share my observations so far on different mindsets that had trailed this phenomenon. 1. The enthusiastic preachers So many preachers see this as an opportunity to dole out their end time warnings on the imminent coming of the Lord and the need to escape the agony of hellfire "Jesus is coming soon" they say "And this is a sign and a call to abandon your evil ways." I'm not saying that they are not right with this. Of course, every sane believer knows that the coming of the Lord is nearer than when we first believed as we happily await Him. But I'm saying that if you are a preacher who only capitalizes on crisis situation to share the gospel, you were never a preacher. You're only an opportunist. You were never interested in lost souls. You're only a prophet of doom and an individual who hopes only to evoke fear through a gospel that is supposed to bring joy. A real preacher shares the gospel at all times. And if you're one who would only adjust your ways because of hard times, then you're not genuine. You're still likely to fall back when things normalize. It will be a good thing to adjust now however but to adjust for good 2. The ones who believe this plague is a test to the church, pastors and maybe God They claim to see this as finally the fall of religion. "Because if their God cannot save them, how can they still call on him after now and if their pastors who claim to be powerful healers cannot wipe away this plague, will they still follow them? " My dear listen to me, you know nothing about Christianity because if you do, you would have stopped for long picking against a people who don't care. Hear it: Whether our God saves us or not, it won't stop him from being God. Don't you know about the story of Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego? God is God and no situation can change His being God. And for our pastors? It's only your ignorance that makes you think that anybody is following a pastor. We're following Christ who is the denominator between all believers. And our pastors (the genuine ones though ) will still remain relevant if you rant from now till Jesus comes. That pastors did not wipe corona virus did not reduce their being pastors. (The ones they've been doing, has it made you believe?) Know though that our focus is Christ, not any pastor. Need I say more? 3. The "It's not my portion people " No one says the virus is your portion sister but please observe the safety rules. Taking precautions is not lack of faith. Cover your face, wash your hands, avoid handshakes and maintain social distancing. "Stop going to church" does not mean "stop serving God" By the way, the real 'church' is you. The church building is only where we gather for fellowship. And this is only for a while too. And for the outsiders who think that shutting down of church fellowships in this period is a big news to us, know that it's not. Except for the merchant driven pastors. 4. The "They deserve it people " These are people that think some persons deserve contracting this deadly virus. I was also a victim of this before I repented. Please nobody deserves evil. Even though it could be God's way of judging some persons but don't forget that even God says we should not rejoice when he's judging the heathen nations else he turns against us. For God does not like the death of a sinner. 5 . Finally, the "I don't care" people. There's this Lagos-like people who don't care even if the virus turns to a human being and starts eating up people physically on the streets of Alaba. They will still move out. Well, a lot of Nigerians don't care because they don't even have alternatives. But still be careful... Maka oke soro ngwere maa mmiri, mmiri koo ngwere o gaghi a ko oke Stay safe |
Wow Glory be to God for your brother. I'm happy for you. I can imagine the joy |
1. Fourteenth February is Valentine’s day; a day dedicated by our today’s world to celebrate love through the sharing of gifts. It is a day for the remembrance and celebration of St. Valentine, a priest who died because of love. 2. Fourteenth February is not a international day for show of immorality and sex as has become obtainable in our world today. St. Valentine did not die because of an immoral kind of love. It was love he showcased to humanity by secretly wedding lovers when Emperor Claudius II forbade marriage for the sake of his military might. The action of wedding these lovers earned him his death. (There are other legends though to this but this is the most credible) 3. Fourteenth February is just a day out of the days of the year but if you are not careful and abuse this it in the name of love, you may land yourself into a regretful condition that might live with you forever. 4. Love misunderstood will be abused and when abused will lead to illegal sex, heartbreaks, loss of virginity, unwanted pregnancy, diseases and regrets. 5. Love is a good thing but the true definition of love is not romance, infatuation and sex. True definition of love is shown when your partner thinks of how to improve your life. Any guy who wants to take advantage of your young body sexually on this Val cannot be thinking of your improvement. He is only thinking about himself; about satisfying his lust 6. That boy telling you to be his Val probably had a Val last year. So, before you believe his lies, ask him about the last year’s Val. She was probably used and dumped and put in a condition of regret which that guy standing in front of you now telling you sweet nothings is still planning to do to you this year. 7. Love is not all about sex. People have sex with people they don’t love. e.g sex workers 8. You see this Valentine’s Day? It is not a crime if you don’t hang out like every other person. Instead of putting yourself into some unseen harm, maintain your sanity by staying back at home and showing yourself some love 9. It is not bad to hang out with friends also if you so wish. Move out with friends, share ideas with them, and go to the movies with them if you so wish. But don’t go home with them. Go back to your parents’ house and show them love too. 10. Again, it is not a crime if you don’t get a Val. In fact, it is better to be on your own and mind your studies. February 14 will still come and pass and nobody will die if you didn’t do what others were doing. 11. Love can also be shown by visiting the poor, destitute, the sick and helpless. Why don’t you celebrate your Val with the motherless children in an Orphanage? 12. Possibly too, you can devote this day of love to God, your creator. Did you hear me? Do something special for God on fourteenth February. 13. Think of the love of God. The greatest love ever exhibited on earth is not the love of Romeo and Juliet. It is the love of God for mankind which was exemplified by the death of His son, Christ. Have you responded to this love by receiving Jesus into your life? 14. Finally before you plan how to celebrate this Valentine, remember St. Valentine and remember why he died and give him that little respect at least. Show him some love too by keeping this day holy. P.S. The article is not meant for fourteen year-olds alone. It is meant for every teenager/youth. Free to share. |
