I know people will give answers like
1. Petrol Stations and Generator Sellers
The answer is not that rubbish.
Light is just like telecoms (MTN and Co) it is a business.
It is the lack of revenue that is killing the industry. The industry needs to significant capital investment which can only be justified if they are collecting enough revenues. But only so many people are metered and only so many people pay bills. The CBN has been footing almost 30% of the light bill in Nigeria, but politicians wont let you know.
If people were paying MTN bill the way they pay NEPA bill, will MTN have survived?
That's the short answer. |

oyeb15: This is not d time for hike in any product. Government failed to address d issue of distribution of electricity in Nigeria. The output is poor and unavailable in some areas. Moreover, power should not only be regionalized but The Monopoly of region distributors have to be broken so that customers can switch in between different distributors. If BEDC is not functioning,I can switch to IKEDC. Regional competition will enhance good and customer friendly services. How do you intend to do that with fixed electricity infrastructure? |

If you were offered smooth roads from Lagos to the east or Lagos to the north or Lagos to Ibadan but a combined toll fare of N1,000 will you reject it?
Tinubu’s policies are consistent with development.
As a secondary school student back in the 2000’s I’m a beneficiary of his policy as well as his wife’s spelling bee so yeah I’m biased. Please dont vex me, I pay 600 per round trip on that bridge and pay 18.96% tax. Yet you still pay school fees out of pocket as well as hospital fees. The annual revenue of LASG is over N700bn. Any yet we pay for toll. What are taxes now for? Yet the useless LASG is the least accountable state goverment in Nigeria. Even the FG is more accountable and transparent. All their activities are shrouded in secrecy. what capital project is Sanwo olu executing in Lagos that is worth N300bn? At least age has spent a year in office. Even inner roads in Lagos, they are filling it with with rubble. Please talk about what you know. Wh |
