I already did.
But the process is a bit tedious and the search isn't yielding any results.
Do you know any low tuition schools?
Oh ok. No I don’t know any low tuition fee. But you can check previous parts (maybe part 6 or 5). It’s something that is discussed September and January every year. Best of luck.

Hi All,

What are the cheapest school in UK for a masters program MSc in construction project management?

Or schools that accept 50% 25% 25% payment plan.

Thanks.
Most schools have a payment plan. For instance, after payment of your first deposit. You can then set up a monthly payment plan (direct debit or manual payment plan) where you pay a certain calculated amount monthly. But it’s a bit tricky cos if you fail or default a payment twice, the payment plan will be canceled and your total amount becomes payable immediately.

Just search for schools offering your course, then from the school website enter “fees” in the search button and you will get information on fees and different payment options available.

You are right Aprokodaughter. They don’t tag those that have been taken as let agreed.

For JJC, Let agreed can be confused as Let’s agree (negotiate)
I remembered purposely including let agreed in my search with the hope I can negotiate the rent (Naija street sense grin grin wink but anytime I call the agent, I will be told the house is taken. I wasted many days pursuing such houses trying to save some quids.

Another annoying one is the rental agent not removing their board at the property after renting it out. Only for you to call making enquiry and get sorry, it’s gone response.

Is not same UK that Nigerians claim they are not friendly. They don't talk?

White people if you don't speak up they won't respond. That's why they keep asking "are you alright" "do you need some help love"

(Nigerians don't like to be addressed as MY DEAR but can answer MY LOVE, LOVE when they come here)
grin

One thing I have observed is that good comes to those that are good or positive. If you have a clean heart towards people, you will be surprised the kind of love they will show to you. If you already built a negative mindset, it’s a bit difficult to relate, talkless of asking for help or even accepting when you are offered a helping hand. People are a lot nicer now.

My bicycle tyre got flat amd ripped out from.the rim while trying to manage it inside the Bbush while going to work early Sunday morning around 6.15am. I was so confused and ran to the nearest houses knocking dia doors so that I can atleast keep the bike safe.

Behold this woman came out to not only keep my bike but to drop me at work .

I was at amazed and couldn't keep my mind off the help through out the day.
You can imagine. Things are happening now, times have changed, people are a lot nicer. I use to think covid added to the change, but I think it’s just understanding that there is no difference other than complexion. Just ask for help. Glasgow here, you will ask one person for direction, six people from no where will come out and explain one after the other the same or similar to what the first person explained just to make sure you are okay and safe.

We talk about fees and financial stuff a lot on these threads (here n student), I think we need to talk more about how to manage some situation too (situations like this). A lot of people are traveling for the first time and there is this old mindset that whites are not nice or racist and all that. This old tales make people hold things inside instead of asking for help.

If I were to be in this situation, I would have knocked on the next room to explain my situation and pass the night with the person. I don’t mind knocking on 5 doors till I get someone to say “ok you can come in”.

It’s a very painful story. Anytime I think about the parents I just get sad. If you ever find yourself in any uncomfortable situation, just ask for help from anyone around you, forget about authorities at that time. You will be surprised that the oyibo you think are racist secretly wants to have a black friend. A lot of them want one now. Ask for help from your next door neighbors, your neighborhood. It’s better to ask for help than suffer. People are nicer now. Fewer racist this days, thanks to TikTok and others that have connected the world with fun and jokes.

The guy story pain me well well. Can’t imagine the parents, from having high hopes to no hopes. Very painful.

All about demographics and perception.
The challenger banks are more popular with the younger/savvy generation, while the elderly generation, the ones who like to write long letters and carry passbooks and so forth, have no interest in banking by app without a branch manager to go and rake at from time to time. However, the challenger banks don't offer credit facilities (they may start to do so at some point, Starling Bank just bought up a mortgage provider and Chase says it has plans to offer full banking services), so it does make sense to open accounts with one or more established banks with an eye to the future.

For the rest, they're all the same, your money is as safe in Monzo as it is in Barclays, all banks have the same 85k deposit insurance guarantee, and with the rate at which the high street banks are closing branches these days, they might end up as digital as Starling or Monzo one day.
Thanks . Smooth as always grin. There is just that Nigerian side that wants to see the bank some times when you pass. grin

But I am keeping my Monzo for as long as they want to keep me. I like the ease and confidence that I can do more.

TheGuyFromHR:
There are a lot of misconceptions about this credit concept.
Firstly, no matter how many transactions you run from your bank account, including the much-talked about direct debit, it has not effect on your credit file. The only entity that sees how you manage your money in your bank account is your bank itself, the credit reference agencies are not given that information, so even if you pay all your bills and rent promptly and never owe a penny or have a million pounds in your account, it makes no difference to your credit file/so-called credit score. However, you could look into something called Credit Ladder which aims to correct the anomaly of people who are ordinarily good with managing their money having difficulty with accessing credit. I never used it so I can't speak to its utility, I went to my bank to get my first CC.

What the CRAs are told is information about how you handle credit facilities given to you, and that is what shows on your credit file. So to manage credit and build a healthy credit file, you have to go and take out credit somewhere first.

The reason why it is easier to get a credit card from the bank you use is because if you can get someone in the bank to look at your account, they can make a decision to approve you for a CC, like it used to be done in the old days when human beings actually ruled the world. These days computers do that work, and they can bounce anyone based on the pre-set criteria.

The poster mentioned BOS as a bank that he walked into and saw someone to speak to. Quite a few banks have shut down many branches and refer you to the app or online to make applications for these things.
Thanks for the explanation. Some BOS are still opened here in Glasgow. I will visit them today and get better explanation. Also we will look into using the credit offered to my wife then. Maybe e fit don increase cos it’s over 6months and it’s a salary account. I will even ask her to check if she can get a credit card. We can be using it for groceries and small shopping, then pay back before the given time.

Thanks.

Better take time out and go online and read up about how credit cards work before you apply for one, the types of CCs, purchase, rewards, combos of the different types (balance transfer no concern you for now).
MSE, fool.co.uk, etc, all have very good guides explaining wetin dey involved in credit. CCs are good, especially regarding section 75 and all that, but its easy to mess up with them o.

If you have been in the UK long enough, get a purchase credit card with a good interest-free period.
These are usually offered by the banks and not the bad credit/credit builder card people.
Go to the bank where your salary is being paid and talk to them in person, so that you avoid the 'computer says no" rubbish.
I went in to my high street Bank of Scotland branch and spoke to a rep. Theirs is 17 months interest free, others have longer or shorter periods, Natwest has 22 months, for instance.
Thanks for this. I have a question/clarification.

When my wife started working last year, bank of Scotland offered her some amount (I think £250 or so, but less than £500) credit for 24hrs. Tho we didn’t use it then as we didn’t want to mess anything up till we are properly settled. We only set up direct debit as we know that will help a bit.

My Questions,

Using bank of Scotland and their daily credit also will help improve one’s credit score right?

And also I believe as time goes on, it will most likely increase in amount as well as validity?

I want to open an account with them and I am believing it will have good benefit since it is the bank of the country.

Please help with your knowledge of bank of Scotland

I use Chinese and American time zone. I got different time alerts on my phone to check the market. For me daily trading requires you being available. I don’t really see it as something to set buy point and just go to do other things, cos sometimes the market might have a short slight deep. I try to capitalize on every. The exchange you use for trading is very key in the time zone you use cos most times, the people on the exchange do the pumps.

I think Chinese has a lot of control in the market ( by Chinese, I mean China and all the countries in their region. Say Asia). I check the market Chinese evening to see what they are closing with. Cos I believe that is likely what Americans will open with. Then check when Americans are closing cos the Chinese will continue with the active coin of that day. Also the Chinese has the power to shoot a coin to the sky. So I try to do more when they are awake and in business.

With all of this I constantly check on BTC and ETH cos they have a lot of power on coin prices. Also studying the chart in your own way is very good. You get your own understanding and it works cos you understand it. Sometimes it’s difficult to explain, but you just get it.

There is a platform for trading crypto, it’s called an exchange. Like of binance, kucoin, gate etc. you buy and sell on the exchange you can sell to people on p2p. But it’s easy to buy and sell on the platform.

Good morning,

Pls help me, I want to start trading. What is the first step to take. From my research and what have been reading online. I guess this is the best time to start. Pls guide me on how to start.

May God help u too
Hi Jollos,

Yes it’s a good time because the market is down and in a short period (or long) the market correction will be over and the coins will start to fly. My advice is go for short term investment or long term investment. That is, you buy a coin, wait for 1 or more months for it to grow, then you can decide to either take little profit or sell all off depending on you. This reduces your risk and disappointment.

Take your time to research coin properly. 2 things that makes a coin grow:

1. Good use case: when a coin offers a solution that is needed in any industry. Here the coins goes up gradually but consistently.

2. Mass adoption: when a coin starts to trend and people start to buy, it increases. This increase can be rapid, but may not last for long as it will drop when people start to take profit. This is common with meme coins like doge and shiba. While they give profit, they are risky as they can go from 0 to 100 in a minute and the next minute back from 100 to 0.

The most important thing in the coin market is your entry time. Take your time do your search. Have more questions, you can drop here and we will reply. Also there is a thread up, there are lots people discussing crypto there and you can learn a lot from them too.

@Chreze,
I am gradually finding myself in same situation you were shocked shocked shocked

Getting house in UK no be come chop despite being ready for long term rent or paying 6 months in advance.

Knowing that I have only 1wk remaining, I have approached my BNB owner for permanent stay and he is willing to offer only 4 months. He is fully booked after May.

My dilemma is that if I take this offer now, I will need to look for another house after May and likely change schools for kids.

Any advice on this? sad angry
If I were to be in this situation, here’s what I will do.

@17yr, he’s a full Nigerian. So taking WAEC would be a very good decision as it gives him a stand as a Nigerian (it’s also a plus now for Univeristy search and in the future as Nigerian).

For the house, I will take it (if the price is not bad or too bad) as it’s the only place for my family to rest at the moment. There is a saying in Nigeria, “instead of full cow go escape you cut the tail”. 4months added search time is not bad. Now taking this 4months offer is tricky cos if you get an apartment tomorrow, then story don de. So I will advice you use the first 2months to just check houses requirement that you think you don’t meet, work on them and strategize on your next search pattern. Also use the first 2months to focus on other aspects of your current situation (the kids). After the first 2months, you can then intensify your house search again.

For the kids school, if you take this 4months offer and they continue (or start) school, then when you get a new apartment, you can just get the student bus pass for 1year from the new apartment to their school (or you calculate the time to next school registration time for ticket purchase). This one year will give you time to figure every other thing out. Remember that there is a chance that the house you get after 4months may not be the perfect house for you and your family, it may just be a place to stay after the 4months. So them having that 1year ticket will give everybody time. If after the 4months the house you get is far, then they just have to wake up earlier than before to get ready and meet up. (You can explain to them it’s their own sacrifice to live abroad. This abroad thing everyone has to contribute in their own little way for it to be successful).

I think this is what I will do. You can add it with what others will reply and make a good decision. The house search is crazy and sometimes difficult to explain. But I see Glasgow like a blessed land and any/everyone who steps into the city will get his or her own blessing, so don’t stress much, just let things play out themself.
