Do you air the house enough? Some people have their windows locked constantly.
To be honest, not really. I think I started opening the windows some months back or maybe when I even first saw the sign of wetness on the roof. The before me open windows like maybe twice a month during cleaning (tiled floors not rug). But being honest i don’t think I opened it before February (from November we moved in) and that is why I am thinking I should maybe try the dehumidifier first. I no go lie I tire, but I want to first get a solution for my family first before deciding on my next move with regards the house.

First question : Your property or rented........

Mould/damp is obviously not good for our respiratory tract and can cause all sorts of respiratory related infections.......
Rented. The wetness on the ceiling is less than 5% or even 3% of the entire roof and is just in the living room. After the chimney was fixed, it didn’t increase, but was going done slowly. We didn’t experience anything during the winter with the heater on. And even when we had clothes sprayed towards the step, there was a heater around that part to solve its damp issues. So I am thinking trying to get a dehumidifier to keep the family safe while we make decisions.

Initially we were looking at having a different situation by the end of first quarter next year. So I am thinking trying it out to see. If it doesn’t work, then the situation is not what I am thinking, then we move immediately.

Also the house is rug, and I remember one landlord kind of like hinted to me that he doesn’t really like carpet (rug) because they retain dust and can cause flu. I didn’t really catch the hint properly that day, but after washing the carpet properly myself I thought It would be solved.

I just need help with something to start using right now for the family’s health while we figure out our next action.

Please I need suggestions for a very good dehumidifier that is around £150 ( less or a little higher) with good litre size.

The only option I am Seeing with good review is the Meaco Dry Arete One 20 Litre Dehumidifier for £260, I would like something lesser if possible with good review base on personal usage. I can say the house is moderately wet, just a small ceiling mold (which I believe has been fixed after the leakage around chimney was fixed some months back because it’s not increasing, just decreasing slowly), musty odor and window dew in parents room, and cough that I am now uncomfortable with.

Please I need urgent help, thinking of picking one maybe tomorrow. The musty room
Smell and child cough is driving me crazy.

Hello House, kindly advise oh. I engaged Council to exempt me from council tax being a student, but they came back saying that I'm exempted but my wife needs to pay and the amount is 1670Pound between now and January 2023. Please, I will like to seek your advice on how to go about this, please oh all/seniors in the house.

Also, I got a letter from Office for National Statistics requesting for interview on Living Costs and Food Survey from the whole household older than 7 years, and they promise to compensate with a 50Pound voucher for adults and a 5Pound voucher for kids above 7 years. I don't know if I should participate because of the aforementioned issue up here. Now I perceived that sharing info might amount to exposing oneself. Thank you.
Hi, call your council to explain your situation, also when describing your wife’s case, use “spouse of student (non British citizen) exemption ”. I think that is what some of them understand. There is a separate form with that label for some council. Some council, just applying and including their details during your application works, others have separate forms.

Hope it helps.

I don't think there is more to the rules other than you won't be able to trade on futures. You need to submit any of those information before you scale through.

You can still trade on spot though, I can't recollect if depositing money from your uk bank to binance is also affected.
Cool. But this looks like a note from binance to its investors in the uk I think. Am actually talking about the one from HMRC on taxing crypto investors/traders. I think it’s on gov.uk. One of these days I will try to read it tho.

If you use Binance, you can convert the USDT to GBP and then withdraw to your bank account. Fee is £1 for bank transfer and 1.5% if withdrawing to your bank card.
You first need a UK bank account, preferably the challenger banks. I use Revolut.
There is an article on taxing crypto investors, it was released last year by HMRC and updated this year February I think. I have not read the article. Also I don’t intend to do anything directly with a UK bank card as I don’t know what their final publication will be on taxing crypto investor/traders.

I did with my naira bank account early last year because I know it takes Nigerian central bank years to investigate and come up with a process. But since US became very serious with their crypto tax talk in 2020, I knew it won’t take long for their sibling UK to come up with something too.

If you have not, I advice you search for the article and read to be sure you are covered since you have direct bank transfer from your wallet to your bank account. I don’t think it will take binance more than 10 seconds to provide any document when requested by the UK government.

PS: I don’t know Omopapa personally, never met him. I only mentioned him cos he helped move around £6k from naira. I think that’s worth recommending. but I don’t know him and never met him

Hi, I don’t have updated information about renting a house. The only reason I am writing you is cos of your teens. Please as difficult as this may sound, try to avoid renting a “four in a block flat”. The midnight sound from neighbors won’t be healthy for your kids. While it’s possible to have neighbors who are not loud during activities, I still will not risk it cos of the age of the kids.

Take care and good luck with the relocation.

@shalewaT, I tried to ignore this as I am tired of talking here, but my heart just didn’t allow. There is something called mistake, it can be honest, intentional, or negligence. Sometimes we don’t even know the type of mistake made.

Ukay2 gave you a very simple advice to talk to him. That may clear some of your doubts, if not all. Lagosismyhome, gave you instances of people that she has seen use same thing. Atleast that’s to tell you, it’s possible it wasn’t about you, it could have been any kind of mistake (intentional or unintentional). She even went ahead to suggest, showing a google explanation to help in your talking to him about it. Virus shared with you what is in the heart of most men (if not all), we all have either thought of things from that perspective, heard it from one of our friend or from other men discussing. And it’s true, we men sometimes think that way. LondonDating told you what will make your marriage last “Don't harbor any negative thoughts about your husband”. He/she further gave reason why he could have used his cousin and not you. And also his deed possibly being an innocent mistake.

In Nigerian these suggestion are believed to be a weak one or from weak people because we believe in do me I do you. You can tell by some of the quotes the people I talked about got from their suggestion to you. Guess what this is not Nigeria. This is far away from home. Talk to your husband, weather na mistake or intentional. We learn and grow everyday. You said your marriage is new, it’s possible he’s still having that early married man thoughts (don’t let anyone deceive you, we men think crazy sometimes). Before talking to your husband, try to erase all the negative thought you have had concerning the issue too, so that you don’t talk in a disrespectful way. As Nigerian man, we don’t play with respect from our wife. You can joke with it to him. You know the kind of joke he likes, try to see how you can incorporate this issue into the joke.

As human we make mistakes. Some we realize and learn from them, others we don’t. No one is perfect, even if it’s intentional, no one is perfect. always remember that in your marriage. No one is perfect. Stay blessed…

Are they racist? Yes, they are.
Why are they racist? It's is because they have not been exposed.
So, dealing with their ignorance can in that situation solve the problem.

You cannot solve a problem by denying it just because you can understand the rationale for the primary behavior.
I ended my first post with this line “ And that’s the reason why I said a bad person can be racist if given the chance, but at the moment the person is only displaying bad vibes.”

One thing I have learnt on nairaland is you make a post, one person reply twisting it to what’s okay for their own quote, others continue under the person post and it goes on like that, then you spend the whole day trying to explain yourself. I won’t do that. I choose to reply to this your quote cos it wasn’t a continuity from another person own quote.

Let me ask you a question: “you don’t deserve this post, raise or promotion”

If a white says that to you, is the person racist? If yes, why and if no why?

some people have this mentality till shit hits the fan. The white friends they have throw them under the bus.
Since we are changing our world and educating each other, let’s start to share experience so we can all analyze and learn from it. This is a conversation we always shy away from, we just keep supporting and supporting.

Let’s have the conversation. Tell me your experience of racism or with a racist and let’s all analyze with knowledge. Or how a white threw you under the fan or someone you know if it was really racist.

What you have just described is your coping mechanism. It doesn't change the fact that there are racists, xenophobes, and Nigerianophobes (based on what I've seen on this thread). You're living in a bubble you've created, and by all means, enjoy it because reality isn't always a pleasant place to be.
First I never said there are no racist or that racism is not a word. Concluding someone is racist just because of the way they have treated you is equally wrong. Some people just dislike for no reason. We see Asians to be racist or accuse almost all of them to racist, visit part of Asia and you will see its lack of exposure and education that is affecting some of them. Some of the issues we call racism in this present day are just being with bad attitude. Analyze some of the accused racist cases, and you can tell it’s just envy, jealousy, and it’s related words. Forget about what people said, go out and mix with people, listen to them. Some people don’t even believe that there are people with dark skin. Some are amazed to see you that it scares them. This are things you know by experience. I have been to Asia, and in one of the visit to a village, people were looking at me like I fell from the sky, some didn’t want you to come close to them. They are not exposed and are not use to people of that skin. Some treat you in a very funny way. But because I understand their own situation, i was able manage some of the situation.

The problem is some of us thinks the most of whites (Europeans n Americans), so when they show us their unexposed nature or lack of knowledge about things, we turn to the word racism. Like I said, some of the present day experiences are just people who don’t know anything and they behave from a lack of knowledge perspective. What I am saying is not what is expected to be said today, cos we all think we have to support anyone when they call people racist. Try to see things from other perspective. At least for yourself.

Lol. When people are told to think from a different perspective, the next words are “copy”, “bubble”, “reality”. Like I said, most of the things we experience are peoples lack of exposure. Talk to them and you will see it’s an exposure issue. They are not exposed.

Na wa for you o. You're writing as if you were born in the UK? Racism is a word that has become entrenched, and you cannot erase it as you have written. Just be yourself, and try to be a shoulder for anyone who brings it up to you. The fact that you haven't come across it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Don’t get me wrong, when someone complain to you about anything, you have to share their pain in the situation. But try to judge from a rational point. You can’t complain and I just accept your complain for what you have said. Sometimes we use racism for envy or jealousy. We have to stop doing that and know that the word is not a positive word.

As dem dey grow them go absorb from society and adults what the deal is and start segregating among themselves.
No vex, but the rest na wishful thinking.
That’s my point, if it’s not in the society where will they absorb it from. That word is a big word, as blacks we throw it around every and anytime. Some of the things we experience, some whites experience them too from their own kind. Like i said, people who act in those ways we tag racist, are people who are not exposed. Try to get into conversation with them, you go see say them no know anything pass their office and country.

You can call it naive, we have all had our share of what we think is racism. But go down the line, you will see that it’s just someone being uneducated or exposed to things. Some end up apologizing if they get to see you regularly, some don’t. Everything is not racism.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Chreze(m): 6:50am On Apr 20, 2022
Ticha:
I agree with you. As adults that have been fully formed and immersed in the Nigerian confidence before heading to the UK, it is easy to shrug off and minimise the racism we encounter. The problem is then that we do not fully equip our children and youngsters to deal with what life as a black person in a majority white country gets throws at them from the moment you step foot here. And that is the underlying issue. When people raise concerns about racism, I don't ever minimise it. I listen, offer support or advice as needed. Sometimes, it's not even possible to follow up on it. It doesn't mean we can't validate that person's feeling at that moment in time.

It's very much like the trans issues going on at the moment. The trans movement (supporters of the trans movement) seem to be eradicating women's right and spaces left, right and centre. I support the right of a trans woman to be a woman and my own right as someone who fully identifies as female and a woman to be a woman - I don side track now grin
Some years back I was able to seat down and break down what is really happening in relation to racism. My aim was to take out the word from my dictionary as I felt it was too negative to use, or misused most of the times. I realized that we have two kind of people in the world, the good and the bad.

Bad - people who are uneducated+inconsiderate, wicked, envious boss, educated but unexposed, uneducated+unexposed, educated+envious —— just like that.

Good - people who are : considerate, understanding, human sympathy, share feelings, reasonable, uneducated but human, rational, —— and the likes

I advise people to try to take the word out their mouth too because we mistake that a lot. Your white boss treats you in some way that is different from how he treats the whites, your boss is just Bad, a black boss will still do that to you. Something is missing in a place, everyone turns to you cos you are dark skin, those people are just dumb (Bad). In some areas, someone will see you, then run away or not want to get close to you, that person is just not exposed (Bad). All of these present day experiences are Bad people(though may be racist when given the opportunity, but at the moment, what they display are just bad related n not racism).

How do you know the person is just a bad person n not racist, some of these behavior you still get in your country or in the mist of people of same color/race as you. The world has changed a lot and people are a lot nicer. In todays world, you see more of good people than bad.

For the sake of our children, let’s just try to delete that word, cos our kids relate and play perfectly with kids from other race/skin color and they don’t know any of these things, if we keep up with the word, it will destroy the future just like it’s affecting today.

Racism to me was experienced long ago by our fathers who were considered to be inferior, enough as to turn them to slaves or making them work in demeaning conditions/environments. Wearing them chains just to show they are inferior and not of equal class. That harm and torture is racist to me. And that’s the reason why I said a bad person can be racist if given the chance, but at the moment the person is only displaying bad vibes.

I think when the money is much the greed level increases. Tho I have not had any of these issues. I have only used 2 or 3 people for p2p. there is one person i have been selling to since last year. If the person no de online I no de sell. The person de mostly de online weekend, so I just keep my sale to weekend. In fact some weekend the person fit no come and I go just let am go. I have had one near scam, But I immediately reported to binance when payment was not made and story won start de enter the transaction. £1500 And yes, it was a Nigerian person. I no even do my country person with am, I just report immediately when him story of bank delay and all that start.

My advice to the anyone wey won do UK P2P is to avoid 3rd party payment and do small transaction (£300 to £500 max). Read the peson intro and make sure say the person self no want 3rd party payment. So that you can always present the binance trade chat as proof of trading transaction. Too many greedy people.

1. Register a company or register as a sole trader
2. Open a business bank account
3. Get the required mandatory license/registration required (if applicable for your business activity)

5. Prepare a contract. Free templates are available online. Its best to get the contract signed by both parties to avoid a situation where you deliver goods and you do not get paid
6. As soon as the business starts trading actively, get yourself an accountant

Anyone with the knowledge please help.

If one sees a business opportunity like say: you discover restaurants need sachet water (for instance) and you intend to provide them with the sachet water after discussing with them and they need it. Do you need to register a business to carry out this type of supply kind of business or it can be done without registering a business name or company?

Or you discover they need zobo to improve their business. You discuss with them and it turns out they buy your idea, do you need to register to run this or you can proceed to supply them.

I hope you get the idea. I need advice please.

Pity that you have covid (I had it too last year), but withdrawing children from school on the basis of contact with other covid-positive children isn't the way forward, I think. As the previous poster said, you might find yourself basically home schooling your child for the forseeable future.

Covid is here to stay, suppression has failed and it's time to live with it. Children swap diseases amongst themselves at that age, and covid is just another disease to add to the mix.
I understand accepting and adding it to one of the other infections they share within themself. But the cough from covid is something else. You just pity the little one coughing that deep especially when he’s trying to sleep or sleeping. We are fine and ok, just the coughing for our son. Not something you will wish any other kid. I think schools should close the room when a child contacts it and maybe give some two weeks. So those who has contacted it can show signs and symptoms. Then when they reopen, only those who are well and not showing any symptoms can resume. I just think that will help to curb the immediate spread when one gets it.
