Wish you and your family well.
Staying away might not solve the problem. It may mean having to keep them away more often than not, while still continuing to pay childcare. You also do not know at what stage you were informed and if you child is already exposed to it. I will advise to just continue and if they ask you to keep your child away, in England, you are entiled to a rebate/refund for those days missed.
Yeah. The school has said they would do refund for the supposed 1 week they intend to close to the room. But I have put a stop to the transfer from our account. We hope to get well soonest and decide how best to continue.

Out of curiousity are you guys vaxxed??
We are not. We tried to book an appointment one time and we didn’t get a date due to some rush and the site failure that time. We kept postponing, with intentions to do it when our son starts nursery. We are just lucky not to be getting any hash feelings. Just our sons cough that troubles us. Every other thing is fine. His cough is my greatest worry.

Pls my people, if you get any mail from your child’s nursery that someone from his classroom contacted covid. Please withdraw your child for some time. Contrary to NHS guide that the child can still go to school if he/she is not showing any signs or symptoms. As I type this, everyone is my house (self, wife and our 2 n half year old son) has covid.

It all started 3 weekends ago when he was running temperature and we took him to the GP. The Dr examined him and said it was an infection. He then prescribe an antibiotic for 5days. After 4days of taking the antibiotics, we got a call from his nursery that he’s having some signs of reaction on his body. I took him to the pharmacy and he said it was nothing serious but we should stop the antibiotics. He also gave him an oral solution to relief the reaction. Before taking the oral solution we discovered that the reaction had disappeared, but we still gave him for 1 full day. We went back to the doctor and he said we should stop the antibiotics and call the clinic if any new development. All these while, we have been having covid test regularly just to be sure that’s not the situation. Two weeks ago we got a mail that someone from his classroom had tested positive and they attached NHS covid guidance for nursery kids. While we were still going from high temperature to normal temperature and cough, we got another mail from the school a week ago that two other people had tested positive. That was when it got done on me that covid was an option for his situation. All these while we were testing ourself and it came out negative.

To cut the long story short. Yesterday I took him to a testing center and after the test, on our way back home, I started feeling very funny. Got home took paracetamol. Woke up and was not feeling good still, so I took the covid test again early this morning and it turned out positive. My wife did same and also got a positive result. Then we became anxious to know his own test result, though he wasn’t running temperature again, but was still having this little cough and catarrh. Well, hours later after reporting our case to NHS and asking them to follow up with our sons result, we got an sms that he is positive.

To be honest we don’t know where the covid came from as 3 of my wife’s colleagues had to isolate in December and another last month. But we are suspecting the school as the school had to close the room for some time due to growing cases. My advice is not to risk it. If someone test positive in your child’s class, it’s possible to spread from the careers if not from the kids. I don’t know. But that’s our present situation and I am sharing for others to learn from it.

I want to ask...
Are wars not fought with money??
Are weapons not built with research and ultimately money...are we not just overhyping Russia’s arsenal..

their entire budget as a nation and defense budget does not suggest they have what it takes in firepower to take down the US, let alone the super powers of NATO (France, UK and US) combined..
I don’t think we are overhyping them ooo. I think Russia makes a lot from their gas supply than what’s on record. Also I think since they build their own stuffs, they may not need that much money. Also Putin and Kim seems obsessed with power, they can spend all the counties budget on just building armor.

The thing here is that Putin denied intentions of invading Ukraine before now.
So, I don't see any bias
Putin has invaded some countries in similar style and he needs to be stopped. You don't force countries to form alliance with you.
Trust me US president got intelligence reports that they were gonna attack Ukraine. He even said it in one of the briefing. I think they just didn’t do what we expected. I can say they failed Ukrainian. The response was in my judgement “slow and not is right direction”. I may be wrong but I think the world is scarred of what Putin has (armor). China and India will have to join US n UK to bring Putin down.

The laws doesn't apply to friends and family..

UN were against bush invasion of Iraq, what did they do? Where are the sanctions?

Bush swore Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, that he is a threat to the whole world. They invaded and destroyed a country with no justified.

Whenever brown people take up arms in defence, they are labelled as terrorists. But the Ukrainians are hero's.

Last last, What do I know, all we can do is observe. As for the past few decades there have always been multiple Active wars/conflict around the world.

I don't see anything special about the Russian invasion
In this case it’s tagged heroism cos they took it up for defense. They did not pick up guns to attack anyone. You can take any measure if it’s for defense.

Every time I go out with my son, these Scottish women and grand mothers will say, he is fine and has cute eyebrows. Some will even say he has beautiful eyeballs. Non has ever said, he looks so much like you.

The one that got me this mood now is the GP at A&E a night ago telling him that he has a very cute Eyebrows and that he must have gotten it from his mother. Haba na. Madam swear you can’t see the cute eyebrow on my face.

The only thing I think is wrong with Russia/Putin is trying to control Ukraine. Other than that, Ukrainian are better of with their neighbor Russia. What Putin is doing is what the American government would do if they feel they will have what they consider “the enemy closer” by their neighbor joining any union.

I am very proud of the Ukrainians fighting to be free even when they have been neglected by the people that promised them heaven and earth. They know they can’t beat the Russians, but they believe they can protect themself. And the world “patriotic”, should be replaced in the dictionary with “Ukrainians”.

Pls i’m here again oh abeg make una no vex! My sister is on her way to the UK now, the school said she can resume tomorrow. She’s going to university of huddersfield Yorkshire, she doesn’t know anyone, no accommodation and she doesn’t have pounds. Pls help!!!! She’s with naira Pls anyone
It’s simple, you can go online now to get her an Airbnb apartment close to her school. Get the apartment with her name and send the details to her. You can do that before she lands. Also there are people on here who can give you pounds for naira. You can as well set that up for her so that immediately she gets to the Airbnb apartment she can get a SIM card and open a UK bank account. Once the account is opened, you can then complete the transaction with the person to pay the money to her account. The rest she can continue by coming to nairaland to read for herself as it will help her if she get the information herself.

My husband's car has a red faulty indicator because of this bad fuel .

It is well
Very sad. Imagine Uber driver wey use last money to buy fuel make him go hustle for family and get more money. Then him go con enter another problem and hang for road because of the fuel wey him buy. When you think of these things you go just won cry. The country de frustrate people.

Nigeria can frustrate person sha. You go to a petrol station, you fill your tank up. Along the road your car stops. You find out the petrol has some water in it. You go to petrol station, it turns out the petrol they supplied them is not a good one. Supplier said the petroleum product imported into the country is not good. No one takes it up. The same president that has lots of duties as the president is the minister of petroleum. No explanation for why this happened or how poor masses can get solution for their present predicament. Everyone acts like it’s not worth addressing.

You fix your car and generator yourself. No one to hold responsible. Then tomorrow you ask why the youth of the country are running to other countries to work instead of building their country.

@jobinto,

You are angry and it will be hard to see reasons with anyone not responding in your direction. The truth is, some of us here are use to getting this crazy responses from organization either in Nigeria or having a representative in Nigeria. They never respect Nigerians and it’s because the Nigerian government don’t respect it’s citizens. Like I said earlier this can’t happen to people from some other top countries. No one can help you, the solution from justwise and direction from HRGuy is just it.

The only way to solve our “docile” (in your words) issue is to elect a good government. Government that can fight for us when we raise up any issue at all. You will be shocked to find out that our government are aware of this and they will act like it’s not something to comment on.

Just be calm cos there is not much you can do. It hurts but that what Nigeria has been turned into. We get disrespected by other countries.

A multinational company, takes money for a service from customers, fails to deliver the service, advises the customers to apply for a refund, customers do that and for two months they haven't gotten the refund and when they send mails to the multinational company, they get no response. They don't even have to courtesy to respond to enquiries on the status of the refund.
Aggrieved customer complains online , guess what? A Nigerian comes out from God knows where and asks him to shut up. We Nigerians are weird bunch.
Sad and Angry, yeah, anyone in your shoe will be that way. And yes you are right about possibly not treating their customers on this end that way. I once ordered for an item from Zara and after getting delivery date, I got a payment refund to my bank from same Zara, checked my mail and saw that the ordered item was out of stock so they refunded the amount immediately since services can’t be delivered.

But before you let your anger grow to others, be sure to check the announcement TLS made about refunding those who made payment for the said non-functioning services. If the announcement said “amount will be refunded” without stating time or date of the refund, then you have no option but to wait. That’s an open ended statement used by most organization to avert accusation of delay.

Also note that no one can help you. Not even the Nigerian government as they are more about what they get than fighting for the right of its citizen. These people won’t do this to other top countries. They take Nigerians for granted because Nigerian government take Nigerians for granted. You just have to be patient. Only alternative will be if the people involved start to drag them on social space. But again, before you start that, check the announcement to be sure it’s not open ended statement of refund.

Pele.

Sorry, please what is progression criteria?

My brother got an admission for a particular course in school & after 2 weeks in the classes he opted to study another related course in Sciences because CS Studies was t difficult for him. From MSc Computer Science to Data Science in the same university.

So why is it not possible to change courses?
Both program are related and in most universities both are in the “school of computing science”. Opting for any won’t be an issue. It can even be handled by just the school of computing and not a university thing. It’s even possible the director for both program is same person.

Changing “from one program or school” is beyond a university, it involves Immigration. I doubt if any university will want to get involved.

Well, all that's theoretical.
Firstly, the EU won't take Scotland or Wales even if they do vote for independence, Spain won't allow them to do so because that will only encourage Catalonia.

Secondly, the level of social welfare that is currently obtainable in the UK cannot be funded by taxation of 5 or 3 million people alone. Tax levels will have to be punitive, and it will be difficult to find people willing to vote for their own impoverishment, temporary or not, out of an idealised attachment to some nationalist ideal. Support for independence mainly ran in the areas with lower income in Scotland such as Dundee and Glasgow, where deindustrialisation hit hard. Edinburgh, Aberdeen, the islands, etc., all voted to remain in the UK. They know where their interests lie.

[b]These days people are less committed than before. Put simply, nobody is dedicated enough to suffer for years in the pursuit of so-called nationhood. In the 60s and 70s when poverty was common and hardship was not an unusual part of life in the UK, when central heating na new thing and many people were still burning wood to heat their homes and using outdoor toilets) they could have accepted that. Definitely not now [\b] .
Great point tho.

I don’t think it will be easy, but it will be possible. For Scotland, When they separate it will be easy to talk to other part of Scotland (the isle) that are thinking of going their own way to stay back and the normal political advantage and shares is given to them to appease them into staying and not leaving. Then Scotland can start to build its little fish into a big shark. Like you said it’s not gonna be easy, but it’s possible. Sometimes when you fly under the wings of others, you don’t realize that you actually got a wing too and can fly (even others don’t realize it), until you spread that wing and fly. There are so many little countries in the world doing it little by little, they are not in the controlling side like the supposed big countries, but they are on their own and they are doing good for them self.

Why should they separate based on this your big brother analogy. They enjoyed the status and privileges when it was all good now they should bale when you think it doesn't pay anymore.
I am not saying they should separate because of the big brother analogy, I am saying they should separate cos these countries would do better if they make their own decisions and work with other of their neighboring countries like every other country in the world does.

The big brother analogy is for their different promises to Afghans and how they have left them dry. And it’s not just the UK, same as the US. Even self I feel the UN is more a political body that a Unity body (but that’s for another day).

Scotland, Wales and NI would shrivel and die without English money and they know it.
What Nicola and her friend in Wales do is bait and switch - they hala Boris and England and talk upandan about independence, so that the money keeps flowing.
Unfortunately for Scotland, it is depopulating and dying quickly. The extra tax Scottish residents pay to fund the more generous healthcare and education arrangements is not sustainable without English subventions and they know it. Take the recent rubbish the SNP said about rUK (i.e. England) paying pensions for Scotland after any potential separation, which is blatant nonsense. If Scotland secedes successfully, it's share of the UK's debt alone will drive it to bankruptcy and default fast.

This is not to say I've anything against Scotland - it was the first place I ever lived in the UK and I love Aberdeen, Inverness and those empty corners of northern Scotland - the scenery is wonderful and I plan to move back to Scotland when my children are heading towards university age to pay their tax and avail of settled free university status and all the old-age perks where possible, but I'm not blind to Scotland's issues.

Wales is even more of a basket case than Scotland - population 3 million-ish and falling, and it cant even afford Scotland's people-encouraging measures, doesn't have its tax-raising powers and is fully dependent on England.
I think if these guys separate and work together like every other country in the world work with close neighboring country they will survive (not because they left the UK). I believe the can do it. And between you and I, we are not talking about them getting on their feet in 5yrs or 10yrs, but I am sure in 15 - 20yrs, they will be a better country on their own, than what they are now.

That is what daily doses of Nicola Sturgeon and Ian Blackford brainwashing pills does to new arrivals in Scotland. Somehow, they pretend that all their problems will disappear were they to secede from the Union.

Let me ask; If Scotland secedes from the Union to join the EU (as they rant about daily), what currency will Scotland use? Euros, yes? Have you considered that the ‘National debt’ will be shared too and Scotland will pay too? Can Scotland comfortably afford it?

You talk about the UK playing big Aunty/uncle . Do you know the stick received by the current government when they cut down a little on the foreign aid budget? You probably need to explore the views of the SNP to have an idea… they think the UK is not doing enough big uncle.
I am not a politician and I don’t like politics or politicians. I just try to look at things from a logical perspective. I am not saying this because am in Scotland or maybe thinking from what any one has said. I look at the situation and I think these other country will do fine on their own. Forget about the loans and how long it will take them to get there. Yes, it will be difficult for them at the beginning. But I think in time, mayb 10yr or 20yrs like Lexus suggested, things would be different for them. I think the guys in England are just making some decision’s that I just don’t get.

The world is going thru financial ish, even the US are all feeling it hot. But I just have this feeling inside that UK’s financial issue will be much, and the idea of increasing tax and other things won’t help it. I think it will sink the ship more.

If the UK were to be a person, I see it like those Aunties/uncles that have made a name for themselves as big Anty/uncle that tries to solve everyone’s financial issues. To the point when they don’t have, they go to borrow from other people to give to another person so as to keep their title “Big Anty/Uncle”, Then later turn around to be the one everyone is scolding in the family for having bad financial attitude/behavior.

I think the Uk/UK government are in a very bad financial place but keep acting like all is well. They promise a lot to people (Afghans), things they cant fulfill. They have a lot going wrong with them, but they feel they have a title globally and would prefer to involve in Ukrainian issues (to save their title) than focus on how to come out of their financial mess.

I see decisions of the UK/UK government affecting the other countries in the union (UK). I think it will be best for the union to be separated so that these other countries can take decisions that best suit them, and not let some group of undisciplined adults control their affairs. If they ever separate the other countries will do far far better than what the controlling country at the moment would achieve.

Since we are here already, it will be best to have an alternate plans. Plans that can be actualized outside the UK. I think it’s going to be a difficult run ahead for the UK and it’s residents. It will be fine at the end, but it’s gonna be ruff.

I may be wrong. Or maybe I am tired and need some rest. Abi a cup of wine. Time will tell.

It’s an amount that is directly debited from my card every month. I am not entirely sure it’s a fixed bill regardless of consumption, but I am sure the estimation has been done in such a way that it will balance itself with summer. The bill could have been £112 if I had gone for a 2years contract, but we are being positive as to having a different situation next year.

I think the bill excesses (refund or extra charge) will be done at the end of the contract. So they will either refund some amount or I will pay if the reverse is the case.

If it’s the energy bill thing, I will advice you look for another house when you are more settled or stayed in the present place above 6months. I know it’s hard to get, but the bill might be a ginger.

We almost started considering houses on EPC rating D when the search was crazy. But we are lucky to have gotten an EPC C (close to B) and our bill is £126 (gas n electric) fixed for a 2bed. The good thing is our tariff won’t change until the contract is over.

If it’s cold, then this is a friendlier one. Last winter in Glasgow, there was a straight 5 - 7day snow and the snow was thick on the ground and windows. Thick like building blocks. So enjoy this one and prepare for a tougher one ahead.
