Agriculture › Re: How To Raise Broiler Birds by chrisblack: 5:11am On Jun 25, 2016 |
anthony56: HOW RAISE BROILER BIRDS!!!! Raising broiler chickens can put meat on your table quicker and with less effort than raising any other livestock. In just a handful of weeks, your chicks will reach target weight and your larder can be stocked with meat that's tastier and better for you than anything you could buy at the grocery store. Plus, raising meat chickens lets you opt out of the profoundly inhumane industrial food-productionsystem. The choice between hybrid or heritage breeds, confinement or free range, and conventional or organic feed are entirely up to you. Best Broiler Breeds Growing broilers — young chickens with pliable skin and tender meat — involves making several choices. Your first decision is whether to raise hybrid or heritage poultry breeds. The fundamental differences are the amount of time they need to grow and the flavor of the meat. The quicker your birds reach the target weight of about 6 pounds, the cheaper they are to raise overall and the more delicate the meat. The longer they take, the more they'll cost you (as is the case with heritage breeds), but the meat will be healthier and more flavorful. White hybrids. The most efficient hybrid broiler chickens are an industrial creation developed by combining White Cornish and White Plymouth Rock genetics. The resulting hybrids — the type most commonly sold at the supermarket — grow and feather rapidly. Chicks of the same age and sex grow at the same rate and efficiently convert feed into meat, reaching target weight in just six to seven weeks. Their edible portion (excluding excess fat, intestines, feathers, heads, feet and blood) is approximately 75 percent of live weight. Under careful management these broad-breasted hybrid broiler chickens will consume approximately 2 pounds of feed for every pound of weight gained. Unless they're raised on range, hybrid chickens must be butchered as soon as they reach target weight, or they will develop bone ailments or die of heart failure as a result of their excessively rapid growth. White Cornish hybrids have fewer feathers to pluck and no underlying hair-like feather to singe off, making them easier and faster to clean than other broiler chickens. I like roasting them with the skin intact. When I raise other broiler breeds, I skin them because it's faster than plucking the feathers off. However, you can choose to pluck your birds regardless of breed. Colored hybrids. These broilers were developed for France’s famousLabel Rougeorganic free-range chickens and adopted by some producers in the United States. Trade names include Black Broiler, Color Yield, Colored Range, Freedom Ranger, Kosher King, Redbro, Red Broiler, Red Meat Maker, Rosambro and Silver Cross. Most strains have red plumage, but they also come in black, gray or barred — anything but white. Their colored feathers make them less visible to predators, especially hawks, but difficult to pluck cleanly so that the bare skin appears neat. (See Wrong About Freedom Rangersto learn more about colored hybrids.) Colored hybrid broiler chickens are usually raised on pasture and grow more slowly than white hybrids — they take at least 11 weeks to reach target weight, and the chicks don’t necessarily grow at a uniform rate. They eat about 3 pounds of feed per pound of weight gained because of their longer growth period and the calories they burn while foraging. Some people find the meat of colored hybrids to be more flavorful than that of faster-growing white hybrids. The edible meat is approximately 70 percent of live weight. Heritage poultry breeds. If you keep heritage chickens for eggs, you have the option of hatching eggs from your own flock, keeping the pullets as future layers and raising the surplus cockerels for meat. Delaware, New Hampshire, Plymouth Rock and Wyandotte are heritage poultry breeds with great potential as dual-purpose egg and meat chickens. All of these breeds are good foragers and have a moderate to slow growth rate, reaching target weight in about 16 weeks. Compared with Cornish hybrids, they have thinner breasts and more dark meat. FOR more visit www.facebook.com/developagriculture hi Tony I really need your help.am about starting a poultry mainly targeting. Christmas.i don't know how to go about it.pls help me out |

Okimsinvest: The Oil Palm tree is an economic tree whose importance and economic benefits cannot be over emphasized. Products that can be gotten from the oil palm tree include Palm Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, and Palm Kernel Cake amongst other things. Some other by-products of the Oil Palm Tree include Palm wine, fatty alcohols as well as intermediates. Nature so made it that all aspects of the Oil palm tree is useful and economically viable.
One of the major bye products from processing palm kernel is Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) which is in huge demand because it is a necessary component of margarine, ice cream, chocolate confections, cookies, soaps, as well as many pharmaceuticals. The Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) after PKO is extracted is a major component of most livestock feeds and is also in high demand.

Ikechu12781: I find it hilariously laughable that the North and Yoloba accuse Igbo of being greedy in terms of politics yet last i checked,
Which tribe in Nigeria declared war on that Anambra minister, I forgot her name, over the fact she fired the multiple unqualified yoloba FFK packed into the aviation department?
In fact, which tribe were calmed by FFK when he declared he hired his people more than others during his years as Aviation minister?
Which tribe is currently doing Northcracy and in fact defending themselves when called on their obvious greed and tribalism?
Which tribe stated "I'll make the country ungovernable if a north does not win"?
Which tribe blackmailed GEJ into firing southerners with great work ethics and replace them with northerners.
[Oh while we at it, it is a well known fact that North dominated GEJ administration than South. The fact he didn't give una all of the "juicy" position was una problem with him. Hell it is also a well known fact he commisson more projects for the north than the south yet una were never satisfied and you dare call others cannibals? Laughable]that not true.alot of the key an juicy portfolios were given to the south East and south south this is a known fact.you can't change the fact that is glaring for all to see
Back to what I'm writing
Who intensified and sponsored Boko Haram just to make GEJ reign look bad?
Which group wailed left and right and forced GEJ to cancel good policies, only to applaud that same policies when it was revived by a "Northerner"? And you dare call others greedy?
Which group have ruled that nation repeatedly and each time a southerner takes over, they scream and screech about them?
The word "born to rule mentality" is addressed to what tribe? Why is that tribe giving that nickname by others?
Finally, you people get dumber and dumber by the day. I've lost count how many times it has been said, even drawn for you lots that the need for disintegration has NOTHING to do with politics and has EVERYTHING to do with wanting out on an obvious sinking ship ruined by greedy animals that believe they are "born to rule". We don't want to be in the same nation with you people and it gets pathetic how desperate una try to dismiss the reasons. It is highly PATHETIC.
Lastly, there's not one single igbo that wants Nigerian presidency. I mean look at the nation for God sake, who wants to rule a disgrace? Infact what happened to GEJ opened the eyes of most Igbos and I'll say SS minorities group as well. If a man can be hated, dragged to the mud, belittled almost on daily basis, his reputation attacked without any evidence to support majority of the accusation on him and the only reason for all he went through was because he's an "ijaw" ( a minority) who had "igbos" in juicy positions in his administration speaks high volume the amount of Devils we share a nation with. The only Igbo who still sort "igbo prwsidency" is Okorocha and Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo. Last I chevked, both man and the group are currently the most hated Igbos in Igbolamd...that should speak volumes to una. When your "buhari" ran with "igbo vp" twice, both times he was rejected by igbos...that should speak volume to you people. We don't want to rule a backwards nation, we want put of the sinking ship. Only those that aware they can't survive by them she's are the only set desperate for this shameless and disgrace "giant of africa.."one nigeria". Just pathetic and pitiful |

MrAnalyst: The worst kind of arguments I hate is one where the other person is deliberately being stupid just to annoy me. Let me tutor you,for starters,if 99.9% of Igbos keep saying they're being marginalized. Trust me there's an iota of truth to it-it's simple logic, that number of people can't be wrong. Now coming to you personally,I said Igbos dont fight themselves but you replied Yorubas dont fight Igbos, that's a misquote-this was your first point of stupidity. Again,I spoke of enugu and abia(both within the east) but you're replying me with niger(which is in the north)-again this was another point you showed shallow reasoning. Thirdly, you had to change my post into something I hadn't written,mr(or miss) that's a record depth of childishness. Fourthly, for you to bring Yoruba into my 'eastern' post means you're quite a tribalist, please I am not one and I dislike tribalists. please keep to yourself if you don't intend making sense. Thank you I totally disagree with your statement on 99.9% not being wrong.on the issue of marginalisation you are wrong cause non of you have been able to prove our you have been marginalised. There are other tribes in nigeria than ibo, yoruba hausa.your adopted son was the immediate past president.he started your lot in every conner of govt.while neglecting other tribes.some times a group of people can be pyshcolgically brainwashed to belive a lie or assumption which after a while is held as the truth.economically are you marginalised. You have produced people in all political, economical and sociological positions in the country.you are not the only tribe.imagine adamawa alone has over 100 tribe even if there population is small as compared to urs.they are still a tribe.nigeria does not begin and end with one tribe. Mind you the last govt only owed 1 month salary..which was as a delay of non release of the states allocation for the month of September. The September allocation was collected Ted by fayose.he used it to pay the November salaries. Fayemi.left in the middle of October. Back to the debts.despite the claim by fayem. The lies by the present govt was so powerful that people did not want to listen or check the facts them selves.fayosekeeps claiming the were paying the banks.we now know better that he actually. Had an agreement with the banks not to pay for over 8months any interest or actual loan. The actual debt of the state was now made available due the bailout conditions which included the actual indebtedness of each state.guess what it was the same 17bn that came out. Mind you face mi borrowed 21bn from the capital market of which close to 19bm was paid of within 4yrs of which he had 8yrs to pay back. This lead to him be given a special award by the securities and exchange. Commission with the NSE.for beign a role model to other governors in terms of loan repayment.ekiti regrets and know better. And average ekiti man was angry with fayem not because he did not perform, some felt he was elitist, while some were angry because he did not share money as they were use to.go to ekiti all you see are still a reflection of fayemi's acheivement.fayemi was to advance for a place like ekiti.he would have been appreciated in states like lagos |

goodlifehyd1: If you are truly a lecturer then i weep for your students. So your empty brain refused to tell you university lecturers are under federal government and not state ? hello guy I do not understand your statement that all university lecturers belong to the F.G.please this is wrong.lecturers belong or are under the organisation that employed them a lecturer in a federal university is under the employment of the federal government through the university, while that of the state is under the state government. The private university lecturers are under the employment of the university they work for.the only common. Ground is that they belong to same union ASSU.which unfortunately many of the private universities do not allow their lecturers to join.thanks |
