If I was a great psychologist, I could rightly state the Doc's mind right now; Nigeria would be the weeping boys of this group just as they were during the qualifiers. Remember how Algeria hammered us in Constantine before Argentina completed the annihilation in Krasnodar.

Michael2 my beloved doc but a false prophet of doom.

Munir wants the switch.
Wow!
Munir is an ass.hole. When Morocco approached him initially he kicked their ass for Spain bkus then he was a prospect at a club as prestigious as Barca. Spain pounced and CAPTIED him with few minutes of action in a competitive game, but today he wants Morocco bkus it's now done on him that he has no future with Spain, and Morocco made it to Russia. If I was a Moroccan, I'd ask him to go to Russia with Spain.

Rohr, Nigeria Need A Unique Style Of Play Like “Palmwine Football” In Russia 2018
November 23, 2017018

With Russia 2018 around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about marketing Nigerian football as a premium product

Being a 57 year old nation, it is time for Nigeria to grow up and take her place at the country of mature countries. Nowhere is this more pertinent than on the football pitch where we have shown that we can compete with some of the best in the world.

Our national team the Super Eagles have been on the verge of achieving greatness for about two decades now but at no stage have they really shown that they are set to join the elite band of sides that have won the World Cup before. We may dazzle, flatter to deceive and now and again come up with brilliant results like our recent victory over Argentina but are nowhere near as good as the likes of Brazil, Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Argentina or Spain.

If we want to make this quantum leap, it is time among other things to work on our own unique brand of football and start selling it as a global brand. Brazil plays Samba Football, the Dutch gave us Total Football and Spain gave us Tika-Taka and I believe it is time for Palm Wine Football to make its way up there with them.

First of all, we have got to stop celebrating this win in a mere friendly and learn the lessons from the game. Argentina exposed a lot of flaws in our Eagles rear guard and we should be more interested in fixing before next June.

Nigerian football is based on pace, quick counter-attacks, physicality and athleticism and it is now time to turn this into a global brand. It is time the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) packages this Palm Wine Football into a global brand as Rinus Michels did with Total Football and let it sell like a premium product.

Can you just imagine how many jerseys, kits, and memorabilia the NFF would sell globally if it could attract neutrals to fall in love with Nigerian football? Back in the 1990s when the likes of Austin Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, George Finidi, Taribo West, Daniel Amokachi, Sunday Oliseh, et al wooed the world, it was common to see our green-white-green jerseys being worn by Europeans.

Today, that rarely happens but with the current crop of players at Gernot Rohr’s disposal, we may be on the cusp of something great. When I look at the likes of Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Henry Onyekuru, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Nwakali, Tyronne Ebuehi, William Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Francis Uzoho and Brian Idowu, I see a group of players who could become household names after Russia 2018.

Given the pace with which our Eagles launch counter-attacks and the devastating pace with which we can get the ball from box-to-box, we have a brand which appears unique to us.

When you add the physicality of Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo and Leon Balogun into the mix, we can conjure a unique brand that will be as globally as popular as Samba or Total Football.
To make this work, however, a successful Eagles team is compulsory and I believe that at the very least, the team needs to get to the final of Russia 2018 to be taken seriously.

We are known for pace, strength and flair but we have got to add winning to the mix, which is why we simply have to make getting to the last four of next year’s World Cup a national objective.

I love the fact that we have some exciting young players full of flair coming through at the moment. Onyekuru, Nwakali, Iwobi, Ighalo and Ebuehi are players who can thrill audiences with clever one-twos on the edge of the area, dragbacks, Cruyff turns, nutmegs, back heels, etc, Add Mikel’s long rang passing to what they offer and we are in fact a very entertaining side.

All we need on top of wining is an appealing kit that fans will be happy to go out and purchase. No one wants to wear a kit that looks awful, so Nike need to be keyed into the agenda as well.

We maybe on the cusp of something historic here. Just imagine what good it would do for our national psyche if we could sell a brand of football to the international community. The feel good factor would almost certainly spread throughout every other aspect of our national life and serve as a catalyst for economic regeneration.

forgiveness:
If we are looking for a natural left winger, Sheyi Ojo and Sone Aluko are natural LW and we know they are very good.

But in this era right footed players play on the LW while left footed players play on the RW. Ronaldo is right footed but he plays on the LW while Messi at the early stage of his career played on the RW.

Ahmed Musa, Tega Etebor, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, Henry Onyekuru and Ademola Lookman are LWs while Victor Moses, Sone Aluko and Sheyi Ojo are RW..

If I am asked to choose two each for these positions, I will naturally choose Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon for the LW while I choose Victor Moses and Sone Aluko for the RW.

The reason I will not choose Alex Iwobi is because I consider him an AM, therefore, I will deploy him in the SS role.

Why I choosed Ahmed ahead of Onyekuru is because he is more experienced and also dangerous on that wing but if he doesn't get enough playing time prior to the WC then I will replace him with Etebor or Onyekuru.

Simon Moses is ahead of Etebor and Onyekuru.

It is very natural I choose Victor Moses because he is almost the best in Africa. Sone Aluko is more experienced than Sheyi Ojo hence my choice to pick him ahead of Sheyi Ojo. It is not as if Sheyi ojo is not good enough. If Sone Aluko is not available I will choose him.
Wow!!! Now this is the Forgiveness we av all been yearning for. See how polite, humble, rational and mature you dropped your opinion unlike your usual taunting to get people riled up. I must give you credit for this improvement and I hope this ur new version lasts longer here.

I'm sorry for the harsh words and derogatory remarks i aimed at you few pages back.

Mujtahida:
But both Moses and Musa play predominantly on the right for us not left. Victor Moses plays as a LWF not Moses or Musa even though they switch wings but Vicmo is our designated LWF.
How many times did vicmo start at the left wing to label him the designated LWB?

Even in the few games vicmo started as a left winger or wing back he was more efficient than Simon ever was. Yes we scored more goals through the RW, did u notice that most of those goals scored through the right wing almost has Victor Moses written over them. When Simon comes to the right our attack swings to the left in search of vicmo or a few times Iwobi. The few goals we scored via the left wing were largely shared between Iwobi and Vicmo, starting from the game against Zambia.

Our first goal against Zambia in Ndola came from iwobi via the left wing, second came through the middle and Simon was on the right Dat day without any effective cross neither did he register any shot on target.

Algeria first leg, first goal came through the left when vicmo switched from the right to the left where mandi was the major culprit. D second goal came through the middle by Mikel before vicmo completed his brace. Simon didn't play this match though.

Cameroun in uyo ; Simon started on the right and vicmo on the left. D first goal came from the middle via mikel, d second goal was a corner with ighalo and mikel at d center of it again (remember the dummy from ighalo), the third goal has vicmo written all over it bkus he skinned a Cameroonian, ran with d ball before laying a pass to Simon whose only contribution was to square d ball back to the orchestrator (vicmo) to riffle in. The fourth goal came through the right via Onazi instead of Simon who started from the right wing that evening.

Cameroun in Yaounde ; the raw materials for our only goal were sourced and processed on the right. Via ighalo, the ball went to the right for Simon to finish off.

Against Algeria in Constantine we all saw how impotent we were until Simon was subbed off for Iwobi to change the game and send us to Russia.

I'm summary, Simon ain't a goal threat and whenever he is on the pitch, that edge (side) of our attack automatically becomes blunt. When he starts from the right, we don't score through the right until he switches with vicmo and vice versa. Whenever Simon plays, Vicmo is always the only attacking outlet we have on the wings (both right and left). It is either vicmo switches to produce something from Simon's wing (right or left), and back to his primary wing to continue from where he left off, or we focus on the middle every game because dude (simon) is so ineffectual going forward. Imagine throughout the qualifiers, Simon contributed only two goals(a goal and an aasist), which were even served to him on a platter while vicmo who had less minutes contributed more. Play Onyekuru who is equally an attacking outlet(a goal threat) like vicmo from either of the wings, especially, the left wing to ease the burden of goal-getting on vicmo and u will see us firing on all fronts abi cylinders.

That said, Echiejile also hasn't been helping matters.

I feel our team is not balanced. We play more to the right than to the left. Fact is we have too many right footed players than left footed players in this team. As a nation we seem to be predominantly right footed hence our difficulties in producing LB and LWF. Since Amunike I'm not sure we've had a natural LWF.
An analysis by Solace Chukwu on medium (@oddsolace you guys can check him out) posits that 8 out of 12 goals scored during the WCQ (he wrote this before our last WCQ against Algeria) came as a result of build up from the right flank, 2 from the middle and two from the left.
This is not too healthy in my estimation. Yes a team should play to its strength but at the same time our strength is too obvious and that can possibly make it easy for tactically astute teams to dismantle us

Please let's analyse this issue

Many went for my jugular when I questioned the inclusion of Simon in our first eleven. Don't u think that my assertion that, that dude isn't what we need on that left wing has been justified? He and Musa ain't cerebral, hence they are not imposing and effective.

Play a tricky, skillful, nimble footed Onyekuru on that LW to see the difference. Iwobi won't be bad there but I would rather Iwobi played as an AM.

Simon is a one-trick punny unlike Onyekuru that has an avalenche of guiles in his offing and he (onyekuru) is a modern winger, in that he always cuts in to good effect unlike that stop-and-run, outdated winger that mans our left wing. I no even wan talk about Musa bkus presently he ain't any better than Simon.

The solution to our problem is right under our nose dude

A man of repute doesn't engage a man of no substance or value in a fight bkus it will amount to bringing himself to disrepute to the glory of the destitute he engaged. The best way to treat a lunatic is; totally ignore him whenever he is acting funny. We know the men here and we also know the kids amongst us, yes we don't segregate but when one makes himself a black sheep, u treat him like one, by acting like he doesn't exist. Simon Moses is not a striker but a winger and if he isn't performing his basic duties effectively he won't be one of his clubs favorite 11.

About Tammy, no matter how bad you term him. He's still not in Dessers category/class for obvious reasons.

Let Dessers move to a Decent European club and lets see.
Then he (Tammy) should prove he is up there with the big boys. He can't continue riding on the back of his exploits in the championship else he remains a flash in the pan. Dessers had similar exploits and he's picked up from where he left off after making the step up to a better league. Tammy will remain all hype and no jack until he proves his mettle now that he is in a better league.

I used Simon to drive home a point and u straggled, but even at that, a fellow winger in Samuel Kalu is also performing his primary duties as a winger at same club yet his numbers still speak loud unlike ur Simon's

EXCITING WINGER SAMUEL KALU SCORES FOURTH LEAGUE GOAL IN GENT WIN

Published: November 19, 2017
Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu was on target for his Belgian topflight side KAA Gent in an emphatic 3-0 win against Sporting Lokeren on Sunday evening. The 20-year-old who has been making headlines in Belgium with his trickery and dynamism profited from a Brecht Dejaegere's assist to double his side's lead in 76th minute of the second period, after the provider has earlier put the team ahead with a deft finish. And French playmaker, Samuel Gigot added another six minutes from stoppage time to ensure the points and hand Gent their fifth win of the league season. While he made way for Thomas Foket in the 78th minute, his compatriots, Anderson Esiti and Moses Simon were on for the entire duration of the game, with the former picking up a yellow on 88th minutes. With the win, Gent leapfrogged their opponents who are in 12th position into 10th on the league log, having garnered 19 points from 15 outings while Lokeren have 16 from the same amount of games.

Moses Simon a whack player? then how come he's a regular starter at his club and even their set piece taker? Hoe come he's constantly invited to SE even before Rohr's appointment?

Tammy is oveehyped, I agree. But at least he's Swansea's number 1 striker and a Chelsea player. So he's not in same class with your Dessers.
How many goals has your Simon this season and what's the position of Gent in the jupiler league? Lol Tammy being a Chelsea player is now a factor? Gael Kakuta was also a Chelsea player bro and he had more hype than Tammy. To me, Tammy is another Yaya Sanogo. Yes Tammy is Swansea' top striker little wonder Swansea is second from the bottom with 8points. If he was worth the hype, Swansea wouldn't be languishing in the relegation dugout. Watch Swansea dump him soon for a better striker to rescue them from the jaws of relegation.

Good! Let him keep progressing and not tag him as though he's a world class.

He's good judging by his stats for NAC Breda his former club. But that just a one season achievement. Remember we're talking about super Eagles here and not one small football team.

Can he easily walk into our first 11?.

He's a player in progress tank God you acknowledge that.
A team that has a whack player like Moses Simon as a starter in an attacking position and a team that was fighting for an over hyped average striker like Tammy, shouldn't question the abilities of such strikers as Dessers.

So far this season, the top scorer in the Eredivisie has 9goals and 3assists in 832mins while Dessers has 5goals and an assist in 695mins.

Lozano plays in a better team PSV Eindhoven

PSV tops the league with 33points while Utrecht is in the fifth position with 20 points ahead of teams like feyenord, ebuehi's Adodenhag, Chelsea extension "vitesse" etc. It has been Dessers and Zakaria's goals keeping his team up there.

If we go by komekn's logic ; Be the best in your club and one of, if not the best in the league in order to merit an attention, then Dessers is worth the whole hype considering his age, his team and his numbers.

Names will never cease to fly around here. No other strikers from the uncapped group through to the ones who had their last games for us about four years ago, no matter where they play, deserve a look in, than these two guys ; Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers.

Ever since the days of the headmaster himself "Adepoju" and later Agali, I haven't seen a Nigerian striker so good with headers as Onuachu. Dude is a monster in the air just like his esque Crouch. As if that wasn't enough, HE is so fast for a guy of his frame and shoots perfectly with both foot. His skill set is OK and his hold up play is mouth watering. He doesn't relax in the box waiting for the ball to come to him before he scores, he often comes to the midfield to help out, hence, he is always involved in his team's build up to goals when he ain't the scorer himself. He is truly an upgrade on Tammy. A typical effective point man. Merely looking at his face, u can tell he is using his real age unlike some guys who didn't go through the MRI before finding their selves in Europe. I have high hopes on PAUL ONUACHU. Dude is good and I can envisage him heading to France or Germany come January window to further boost his Eagles chances.

Did u know that throughout this qualifiers we only scored once with the head and that was against Cameroun? The goal was served on a platter though KC showed good positional play.

Cyriel Dessers is class. Dude plays with guile, shoots with precision from outside the box.

Incase you haven't seen these guys play, I enjoin you to strive to do it or better yet see their respective YouTube videos.

Some persons here are not in Europe but just by taking advantage of the Internet and other sources of information they've brought other players to our attention - players like Dessers, Olayinka, Adegbenro, Onuachu, Bonaventure etc. What amazes me is that I cannot recollect you saying anything about this guys. You have not said ohh Dessers, what's the noise about this guy. Let me check him out. No you don't and won't do that simply because he's not in the EPL or championship or league one.
As a lover of the Super Eagles, our eyes scan every continent and region looking for who can fit into the team. The moment we hear of any player doing well we check him out, we try- even if inadequately- through youtube videos to size him up to see if he's quality. But you are stuck with UK FB players. Not bad. But try and check others out and remove that notion from your mind that good players cannot be found in the lower rungs of the lowest leagues. Dele Alli proves that that notion is plausible but not an absolute truth.

Rohr Still Searching For Options In Defence Despite 4-2 Win Over Argentina
November 19, 201706

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is keen on strengthening his defence line ahead of Nigeria’s campaign at the World Cup next year in Russia.

Rohr is still searching for options but this time around an extra central defender who is similar in style to defence mainstay grin Leon Balogun appears to be the target of the Franco-German coach.

Although Kenneth Omeruo impressed in the game against Argentina which Nigeria won 4-2, Rohr appears not to be keen on him anymore as he is still searching for a fourth defender aside Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong and Balogun.

The coach who played the 3-5-2 ‎formation against Argentina on Tuesday in Nigeria’s 4-2 win is still in favour of playing with a back four in his favourite 4-3-3- formation used in Nigeria’s qualifying games.

A central defender with the ability to play from the back is now the target of the coach, who is also looking for a top striker to complement Odion Ighalo in attack in games where he wants to play with a lone striker.

At the bolded, this is the same reason why the English team is trash and can never win any major tournament.

Every year, the team is littered with "one season wonder" players who will fizzle out completely the next year. No cohesion, no team spirit, no understanding, no continuity... Nothing! Just 11 "hot" players running around aimlessly like headless chickens without bite. I mean, where the fuvcking hell is Townsend?

I am sorry but with all the hype of premiership their 3 lions is still shiit,... I am sorry, but with all your informed and knowledgeable analysis, your team mentality is still naive,... Both you and the 3 lions have a major problem which is LACK OF TEAM COHESIVENESS!

The problem is you both don't just realize this yet, and I am sorry to say that so long as you hold that myopic view at bolded, you won't still realize this problem even if it hits you in the face.

I mean, so left to you, you will keep changing your team with new faces all the time?... I don't get it, where do you drop team cohesion and understanding?... Regardless of how hot, good players are, they must gel, blend and understand each other very well in order to be called a team.
That's why it's called a freaking team's sport.

Changing or bringing in new players everytime will never augur well for the team's success. Too many good cooks spoil the food.

A classic case of a team successful with long time blend of players is Germany.. They won the last world Cup with players who the bulk of them(about 90%) have been playing together since 2010, and they won it 2014. Are you saying that since 2010-2014 they were no better players to those they already had in the team?

A classic case of a shiity team with a shiity mentality/believe that "one season wonders" must play for the team is England and what have been their results?.... Only a world cup title to their name which they even only could win when they hosted it, even at that, it was freaking almost 60 years ago.

The same mentality is what you have (atleast from your disposition here) which I guess its because you are based in the UK. Please and please, the number of SE players tested so far it's enough. What Rohr should work on now perfecting tactics, formations, team spirit and understanding, thats all biko!!
