when Amaju first got elected as NFF president he spoke about ensuring our referees get trained when in hindsight the focus should have been on coaches. Coaching like you rightly noted is the bedrock of any successful national team but what's even our playing philosophy? have we researched our physic, environment, resources etc to give us a cutting edge and make us competitive at the international stage? why is that we suddenly stopped producing technical number 10s? is it because of the league that goes for directness and physicality that such has been coached out of our budding players? These are the kind of stuff our NFF leadership and technical committee need to be having a honest conversation about. It's not enough to hire some random oyibo to come and coach our national team when the said oyibo doesn't match our playing philosophy but do we even know what is our philosophy? Once we get the answer to that important question then we will know how to train our coaches from junior to senior level along that path. even when we hire oyibo as a stop gap measure we will use philosophy as a basis for employing you and not just the person's CV. TheGoodJoe: My point is a total change of our philosophy. If those in charge of the league can invest in running training programs for coaches to have better output with respect to style of play.
You can play good possession football on poor pitches, so investing in these is also Paramount. This will encourage those who play good brands of football to succeed.
People should remember that the NFF and co. get money for these. It is not spoon feeding but doing their jobs.
We can move forward to raise players at home that will compete with overseas counterparts if we don't rebrand the local league in manner of play. This will build the kind of environment we need to nurture quality talents. |

Omooba77: The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has said that it has overwhelming evidence of destructions of farmlands by Fulani herdsmen across all the States of the federation.
MURIC wants the Federal Government to compensate farming in all the states where herdsmen invade farms with their animals.

I remember him tackling me seriously when I criticized Paul's performance in last year's friendly against Algeria so I don't think he omitted him for any deceptive reason. andrewbaba44: We are with you but we are just saying facts, na we go still shine teeth if any of these players score tomorrow , and why didnt you put onauchu self abi na europe top 5 league players you just wan mention

great submission especially on the bold. Reminds me of the early days of JayJay especially at USA 94 despite being the most gifted skill wise Okocha usually sat on the bench for Siasia who was more tactically disciplined. On the Zaidu you're very right about people mischievously trying to use other names to discredit him. First it was he has poor technique now saying he won't start in a relegation threatened team because Porto has turned to an NPFL side abi? e be things. TheSuperNerd: Aina remains a fine player. I rate the lad pretty good especially coz of his easy-on-the-eyes two-footedness and ability to contribute to the attacking flow of a side and yes his defending has sometimes left question marks but in recent times, I can say that he has shown good improvements in that department.
But I won't stand the scenario of some playing down another highly rated fullback of ours in Zaidu all because of some sentimental attachment to Aina. That is so not welcoming and takes things along really illogical argument lines.
Both are our two most valuable fullbacks in world football now. Yes. But one is more of a starter for the NT compared to the other right? Why can't both start in their respective fullback roles? Well, thing is it could happen but also it's never automatic. Both gotta show and keep showing they deserve to start. Zaidu looks like making the LB role his own Permanently. But Aina still faces a starting shirt battle against other options on the right and is a few times played on the left too when "tactical" changes are needed.
Starting for the NT is never a matter of Market Value but a matter of what you bringing to that role you are playing in the NT set-up and also a function of your performances in NT colours and most importantly, your reliability in your role.
You also cannot forget about tactics. Well on this one (tactics), I don't necessarily refer to Rohr but to more serious NT coaches like Fernando Santos of Portugal for example.
Now, take Portugal for Instance, they have a Ruben Neves who is a CDM and valued at 50M euros on Transfermarkt. But he doesn't start over the Portuguese twin towers of William Carvalho (valued at 20M on TM) and Danilo Perriera (valued at 24M on TM). Why is this so? Tactics! The latter two will fit the system more than a Neves would. So Neves has to play second fiddle for now despite commanding more market value.
So please let us all know this and know peace. Starting for the national team is never always about Market value. It's more about performance and tactical value. |

agreed some have been against Aina starting but let's be fair also a lot of criticism directed Ola's way is based on what people have seen of him in the national team. which in a way is also unfair because rohr hasn't played him enough in his natural RB position where we can see the best of him. Aina for me like I've always said is an asset when we're attacking but his defending still needs work which is probably the excuse rohr is using to start Ebuehi, Akpors and Awaziem ahead of him. Personally it's only Ebuehi i can agree with slightly starting ahead of Ola but i have no qualms if he starts. At least i haven't seen any game that we lost as a result of Aina dropping a disaster class. andrewbaba44: Many of you had said aina should not start for Nigeria and talk down of him no need to deny that
And there are still people who prefer ebuehi which is normal
Aina is not yet a starter self |

you are bringing a different issue. No one has said Aina shouldn't start for Nigeria. Some have voiced their opinion that they feel Ebuehi should be starting ahead of Ola which is a personal opinion but when you make a declaration not borne out of fact that someone that plays regularly for one of Europe 's most prestigious clubs won't start in a relegation threatened team sorry it's begging to be rubbished. Kog45: ...and Aina dey play nonsense to some right?
I think some opinions on some players are borne out on how we personally rate them.
If we want to go by market value then Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi should be our starting fullbacks but does it work that way?NO |

nice interview Moffi sounds like a humble lad. charlesemeka85: Five goals in the last five matches, Terem Moffi is the revelation of the New Year in the whole of France.
The powerful FC Lorient striker (six goals in all this season) scored and delivered an assist against PSG on Sunday (3-2) after he only came on with half an hour to the end of the match.
The kid from Calabar, Nigeria, will be very important in his club’s survival in Ligue 1 this season.
Growing Up
Terem Moffi: “Like everyone in Nigeria, I started playing football in the streets, before entering an academy, at the age of 11. It was then that I knew I had a chance to become a professional footballer. My father was also a football player. I was good, but I was not the best. “
Exile At 17
“I got admission to a school in England at the age of 17, thanks to football. I never thought it would be possible. It was a big dream coming true.
“It was nevertheless difficult to leave my country for a distant country. I was very young, I did not know life, I was all alone… But I should not think of the past, rather of the future. I had to do it.
“I chose this life, I wanted to succeed in football. In life, you shouldn’t stay in your comfort zone, but you have to look for things. Take risks.”
Discovering Lithuania
Why Lithuania (he signed for Kauno Zalgiris in 2017)?
“Because that was the only option I had! I didn’t know anything about this country. I went to Google to see what it looked like, the food, the culture.
“The first days were difficult. The cold… (he stops and blows) The cold was completely unknown to me. It was hard to adapt. People did not speak English. But I adapted and I did well.
“All in all, I loved my stay there. The people were lovely to me. When they start to adopt you, you almost become a member of their family.
“Also, I’m the type who likes to test things. I enjoyed the food, the culture… ”
His Rise
“Sometimes I can’t believe my eyes when I tell myself that this all happened in less than three years. By the grace of God, it all happened very quickly. Lithuania, Belgium (six months in Kortrijk), now L1 and Lorient. It’s incredible!
Lorient And Ligue 1
“My debut in France was not easy (he arrived in Lorient in September). I would say Ligue 1 is two levels above Belgium.
“I had to adapt to the style of play, to the opponents, to progress physically and tactically. But I feel better now, my mind is cleared and things are coming.
“When things were wrong, I would talk to my father, my mother, who would say to me, “This will come. Do not stress. Think about making yourself happy and just play soccer.
The weight of the transfer (8 million euros)?
“No, I don’t think about it at all. It’s a lot of money, but in my head, in the field, that doesn’t count. It could be 500,000 Euros, 1 or 2 million Euros, it would be the same for me.”
Personal Highlights
“In Lorient, it was the match in Nice, when everything fell into place (2-2, end of December). I played well, the team too, I scored, confidence has returned.
“In my career? Probably when I scored 20 goals in Lithuania. I was all the time in the news.
“The Belgians came to get me, many clubs were interested in me. It opened the doors for me.”
Life In Lorient
“My family here are my partners (smile). We spend a lot of time together: Wiss’ (Wissa), Trevoh (Chalobah), Grbic, “Armando” (Laurienté). We see each other all the time, we have fun, we relax at one or the other’s place, we watch movies, we play cards… Do we cook? No (laughs). We have a chef who takes care of us… ”
Religion
“I am Christian. I believe in God. It is he who gives me everything I experience every day, the strength, the power to do things.
“I don’t go to mass here in Lorient, but I follow church service on the Internet, online service.
“Before and during matches, I pray to God, to give me strength and guide me on the pitch, to lead us to victory. I have no particular superstition.”
National Team
“I haven’t heard from the coach. But if the opportunity arises, I would be extremely happy to represent my country. “
He scored 20 goals last season in Lithuania His Future
“Like any footballer, I dream of playing for top clubs. But now, I am focused on Lorient. “
Football In Nigeria
“Soccer is the most important sport in Nigeria. When the national team plays, the country stops. Everyone is in front of their TV. I wouldn’t say it’s a religion, but everyone loves football back home.”
His Inspiration
“I grew up watching Jay-Jay Okocha, Obafemi Martins, Nwankwo Kanu, then Victor Osimhen play. I watch him play a lot, we played together (with Golden Eaglets), he’s a real example.
“Otherwise, I am very often compared to Romelu Lukaku, but I am far from his level! Otherwise, I love Didier Drogba, especially when he was playing for Chelsea. I am also a big fan of Robin Van Persie. He was the best, for me. “

hmmm to be fair Cornet dey try sha saw his performance in last season's champions league. Boly and Bailly are slightly better than our current CBs but not by much. The rest spot on TheSuperNerd: I agree it is.
because if I break it down... Then we have the true picture.
CB options: We look kinda matched. CIV would throw in Boly and Bailly from the EPL. Nigeria would throw in Akpoguma and the incoming Jordan from the Bundesliga + Semi Ajayi in the EPL. Game on!
Other options: They have Diomande, Traore, Deli etc... mostly in Ligue 1 + Belgian league..
Nigeria's other options has: Awaziem from Portugal, Incoming Tosin from Fulham, Ekong of Watford, Balogun of Rangers.
LB options: None of the Ivorian LB/LWB options trump Zaidu. Be it Cornet or Ghislain Konan.
Felix Agu of Bremen is an option when we land him. Calvin of Rangers, Collins and Chima Okoroji are also there.
RB options: They have Aurier and Singo. We got Aina, Ebuehi (one of the best RBs in the Eredivisie) and Ehizibue in the Bundesliga.
So conclusively, I may say we are kinda both matched in defence overall or just slightly stronger depth-wise. |

i like Sadiq and I suspect you are right that he trumps Abraham in those areas you highlighted but I would have to see how he performs at a higher level such as La Liga before we start saying Umar is better than Tammy. Whether we like Tammy or not he has proven himself as a Premier League grade striker so let's wait for Umar to distinguish himself at a higher level. ChrisKels: Sadiq trumps Tammy in so many ways, such, as; dribbles, hold up play, spatial prowess and play making. Sadiq's close control trumps those of many elite strikers in the top five leagues, here Tammy doesn't come close, not even an inch. Pair Sadiq with Werner, just the way he is most times paired with Tammy, and see Werner tearing nets - such is his(Sadiq's) quality and influence as a number 9 |
