For some reason after the AFCON the team lost its defensive resoluteness.
On average we still score goals almost every game but we need to do a better job shutting the door at the back.
elyte89: I just realized dt throughout dis year even late last year ,super eagles have failed to win an away match ..this trend is worrisome going into 2026 World Cup qualifiers…d coaching crew needs to sit down and find a solution to dis .
Thanks again Basco for always coming through with the highlights for those of us too busy or occupied to watch live.
Nice play from Bruno probably his best performance in the SE so far. Osimhen's missed chance in the 1 half denied him a well deserved assist. With more performances like this I think he will have the LB position on lockdown. Probably needs to improve in the physical battles more still looks slightly lightweight to me.
Aina and Bassey look seriously off colour defense wise. Need to do better especially for next years high pressure WC qualifiers.
Attack wise Osimhen was the only consistent threat. Yes he missed a sitter but made up for it with his crucial goal towards the end. Honestly our other forwards need to come to the party so we don't turn into a mostly Osimhen and Inshallah team.
S. Moses well done. I'm one of his biggest critics on these streets but he has become more reliable lately and understands his game better and how it impacts the team's performance. Hope Chukwueze is taking notes.
Condolences to Nwabobo on the loss of his father. May God give him and his family comfort at this trying time. To his performance no sugarcoating it Stanley was largely at fault for the conceded goal. A mistake let's be honest we would have dragged Okoye and Uzoho centuries for. I guess Nwabali's consistent performances for the SE since his debut this year has(deservedly in my opinion) earned him some reprieve but he should watch it because someone is waiting in the wings if too many blunders become part of his game.
Monday's game is for all intents and purposes a competitive friendly for us so I would like to see AE give the likes of Onyedika, Yusuf, Osho, Boniface/Sadiq etc a good run out. No need to stress Osimhen and Lookman we know their quality already.
Musa's loss of form for Leicester happened in the run up to the 2018 WC. If Rohr had listened to people like Komekn God knows if we would have scored a single goal let alone win a match in Russia.
zicky: Good, that's why I laff when people say iheanacho should be drop because he's not playing, they was a time Musa was not seeing game at Leicester, fans cried drop him drop him. We all should accept you can't just drop a player that has been part of a team for say 5yrs just like that.
I really don't understand why these clubs never went all out for Osimhen. At least the open states of the season has ruled out any benefit of doubt that those clubs have sense
You keep overlooking his SE form which is what I've always harped on. Outside Osimhen and Lookman now no other SE player has scored more goals for the national team over the past 3-4 years.
Club form gets you into the national team your performance for your country keeps you there.
komekn: I don't know if you have noticed KC has not been in form for over three seasons and has only been in form once in his career in 2021.
Prior to that he has never scored more than 5 league goals in a season since 2016/17
University life was/is still relatively comfortable compared to the lives of your average lower middle class.
UNILAG in those days was still decent so I still insist her story of suffering is suspect but hey more grease to her elbow she has become the leader of a major UK political party.
Theflint1: Lecturers no really begin flex until OBJ era enter...those Abacha time dem, they were just okay. If you've read the book Purple Hibiscus, you'd see a perfect description of what life was like for lecturers in that era, not poor, but far from comfortable, more lower middleclass with the respect of their status...and I don't think UNILAG would have been exempt from the unstable power and water supply that rocked that era.
Her parents were lecturers in UNILAG where Kemi spent her formative years even went to the secondary school within the campus called ISL.
I would buy her sob story if she said she was dodging bullets from cultists but treaking miles to fetch water in UNILAG? Na mate.
Theflint1: And is it possible your middleclass experience was different from her middleclass experience?
Like two families fit dey, similar income bracket...famA priortizes going to the best schools, which means things like home entertainment and some other amenities take back burner, and famB chooses to send kids to okay schools, and things like PS, colored TV and cable is their norm.
Good to see Osho let's what quality he adds to our defense.
EA is settled on his preferred midfielders which I concur is the best we have for now. Only a seriously inform midfielder should break into the group. Chrisantus and maybe the Lens fella could realistically make join later.
I thought the bold was just down to a good number of Yoruba muslims who are more fervent in their faith like the MURIC crew.
GloriousGbola: You may not be paying attention or maybe you live in a special part of Lagos. There is a mass exodus of middleclass northerners to lagos over the last 10 years. It is very obvious if you are a parent as the number of hijab wearing girls in schools keeps increasing.
Probably 30-35% say 35-40 million people here and there.
The politics of falsely increasing your population numbers is fast losing its usefulness if it cannot feed people adequately. What's the point claiming high numbers that won't guarantee you enough resources to feed your people instead of being productive enough that will make it possible to take care of your citizenry?
Lagos as much as they receive extra FAAC allocation if they depended solely on it won't be able to meet recurrent expenditure let alone have enough for capital projects. States like Bayelsa and Delta that receive way may more and have only 10% and 40% respectively of Lagos budget are performing way worse. Kano may or may not have bumped up their numbers to gain extra dough but are they anyway better than Ogun that receives the least FAAC and has way less population numbers? I reckon the design to raise population numbers isn't so desirable like that again cause the benefits are miniscule if any.
raumdeuter: If you say our population is exaggerated, then to what degree? When you are tying election power, amount received from National purse and other benefits to population, you can see that it will induce falsifying numbers
Up north female kids as young as 13 are already having babies which means on average a northern woman will birth 6-8 children in her lifetime.
Add to that lack of adherence to family planning methods, Improved healthcare over the decades that ensures your average child doesn't die from polio, measles et al.
Like you I agree our population numbers are exaggerated especially up north but my previously stated points still justifies why they have a significant number.
Terrorism like someone else rightly said kills thousands over a period of time which birth rates over a few months would easily cover.
What brings growth are birth rate , migration , stability It makes sense that some states grew in Population e.g Lagos FCT, Ogun etc because of these factors. Comparing 2006 census which we knew was also dagbo but at least we had a census to the estimates currently Lagos grew by 70%, Ogun 70% FCT by 240%, but we are having states like But how can you tell me that Borno -60% Zamfara -70% Kebbi- 84%, Gombe 95%, Yobe -87% grew at the same rate or even higher than Lagos state despite the terrorism suffered in the last 15yrs in some of those places which affect the stability and migration factors
That is why we are getting the 230M we are claiming
My guy Charles how far now. I get delayed mail for you o. You said George Ilenikhena is on fire currently better than most of our SE forward yet blud is on 1 goal in 13 matches wetin happen na?
charlesemeka85: maestro don go blow small pikin mouth 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I rated Ebuehi but injuries did him bad. Idowu na one hit wonder.
Kog45: Where dem Ebuehi and Idowu….that Argentina friendly performance na real fluke, even as at that time they are not better than Aina but football sometimes just happens
Spot on doc except I would remove Kylian cos I consider him a Henry type forward while I have to defend my Gunners boy Saka. I think Ademola as at now is just about level with Bukayo.
TheSuperNerd: It's crazy but only very very few wingers/wing forwards in world football today can be said to edge Lookman and not by much even.
🤝🏻Mohamed Salah 🤝🏻Vinicius Jr 🤝🏻Lamine Yamal 🤝🏻Kylian Mbappe (when not playing #9 for RM but in his usual LW for France)
These are probably the only 4 wing forwards in world football currently who can be said to be above lookman.
Bukayo Saka is so good but right now, naah... Lookman has since caught up and overtaken Saka. Lookman currently stands above all except that select 4.
Looks like a great prospect. Good with both feet, has an eye for goal, and is strong.
zuchyblink: Kparobo Arierhi is the biggest home based talent currently. He scores with both legs and impressive accuracy. He is a special talent-deserves super eagles call up
I remember reading Clinton's biography in it he explained how he literally begged Yasser Arafat to make a final concession that would have led to sustainable peace in the region but alas he couldn't budge probably out of fear for the Palestinian Hawks at home.
At this rate we can only pray that Israelis and Palestinians four generations from now are educated and tired enough of conflict to make things work.
“And the only time Yasser Arafat didn't tell me the truth was when he promised me he was gonna accept the peace deal that we had worked out, which would have given the Palestinians a state on 96% of the West Bank and 4% of Israel, and they got… pic.twitter.com/kQZrqdU3zW
I guess it's because Boniface has demonstrated ability to perform at highest level compared to Onuachu.
Make no mistake the SE second striker position is still wide open for another determined hungry forward to take if Boniface continues to struggle in front of goal for Nigeria.
Kog45: Grace wey Boniface get Onuachu no get am…..fans are waiting for his goals in eagles,no Nigeria CF enjoy such immunity
