raphieMontella:you don't need to be abusive and abrasive, it's a simple point I made. Whether the miracle is about raising the dead, healing an amputee, healing the blind, etc you would try to discredit it by either saying it was staged or something. Don't be angry over nothing. Not worth the trouble dude. |
tunene66:THE STILL SMALL VOICE THAT WOULD NEVER GO AWAY You see friend, atheists seem very bold-faced about their beliefs but when death looms (for the ones that have the privilege to know when their lives are drawing to a close) they begin to see the futility of their pursuits and begin to reach out to the still small voice that would never go away. Check out this quotable quote from one of the world's greats, below: "I am prepared to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter." Winston Churchill |
hopefulLandlord:Hope you'd have the patience to read all these: "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you. And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come” (Matthew 10:16-23) Let's now do a cross-referencing: “But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake. It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. And not a hair of your head shall perish. In your patience ye shall win your souls. But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand. Then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter therein. For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows; men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:12-28) Now it's obvious that both passages refer the same events only that one was more detailed than the other. When there are Scripture texts that treat the same general theme, and yet one passage is more detailed than the other, the less detailed text is to be interpreted in the light of the more detailed one. This is why I culled the text in Luke for us to understand better the phrase “till the Son of man comes” refers to the Messiah's coming to execute judgment upon the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem. It was a punishment for their many acts of rebellion in rejecting their Messiah. Without question, the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 is the focus of this text. |
HardMirror:Oya let's settle this once for all: The name of that person is: a) none of the below b) Pius ikedia c) prophet mustapha d) deacon ojueja You can only choose one answer Mirror's lies were near perfectly fabricated just to prove a moot point, namely: that not all Christians that became atheists were unserious Christians. I'm baffled at the length one can go. Shame on mirror and the lot that came out of their shells to applaud a big fat lie |
Good morning friends. I was just thinking of this whole brouhaha and couldn't help but write this piece. Now a quick look at Mirror's profile will tell you something: his posts are mostly aimed at discrediting the Word of God. Like a obsession you know. All these have a feeling of desperation and a need to get back at someone / something. Like he's got scores to settle with that someone or something What's the lesson to learn here : Know God for yourself not just bible knowledge but seek experiences that would cement your stance in Him. All these 'well if I die and find out there's God, then I'm safe' bullshit I don't do stuff like that. That's gambling and you'll be thrown off balance pretty soon if that's where you're at. God never asks you to leap in the dark. No! He says, 'you will seek Me and find Me, when you have sought Me with ALL OF YOUR HEART'. (Jeremiah 29:13) I admit that in the lately I've not been my best in terms of wholehearted devotion to God but I can attest that it works. If you would give it a try. But why would they go this length and why would they jump at every opportunity to reiterate their atheist stance? It's because they want to douse that small voice that still reminds them about God, showing them the wonders of creation. You know what I mean that voice that still reminds them that maybe they could be in the wrong all along. Anything that would help to douse that voice that would never go away would do. So you could see a lot of atheists coming out of their shells to applaud the OP. And indeed have you not heard about atheists that confess Jesus on their deathbeds? That's what they do even though they cam appear very 'bold faced' about their atheist stance before all. Romans 1:19-20 tells us that God still reminds them about Him not using the pages of the bible but everything around them. What made it interesting was OP's supposed previous depth in the world of faith but going through some of the questions OP asked God, it was all too obvious that he was badly lacking in Bible basics. I know (or maybe I think I know) he was fervent and the radical type (if the story was true) but he had only scratched the surface. The word of knowledge gift is no child's play thing. Yes I see a lot of ministers on TV that tell what people are going through. Whilst that's an enablement of the Spirit (I mean genuine ones), Word of knowledge is deeper. It would give you details about someone's past which you have no previous natural knowledge about. By the time you start guessing, you're not operating with the gift of word of knowledge. I'm on leave from work now so I kind of have some time now to look at this thread. In a couple of weeks it may not be so. Thanks for your time. |
uvalued:I sight you brotherly. More ekpa ati boli to your oral ministry |
uvalued:His name is prophet mustapha |
Seun:You see my friend, here's the passage you quoted below: But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God (Luke 9:27). The keywords are: 'shall not see death'. Question is what did Jesus mean when He said they shall not see death? The same Jesus spoke about this concept of 'not seeing death'. Check the passage below. John 8:51-52. Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death. The Jews said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, as did the prophets; and you say, `If any one keeps my word, he will never taste death.' The Jews just like you taught he was alluding to physical death. The bible refers to spiritual death which Jesus obviously was referring to in the two passages quoted. So my brother, Jesus is never a false prophet. If you'd care to study your Bible a bit more, you'd realize that |
damogul:Oga I have done the research on his behalf. The name of the guy is soft mirror. Google am and thank me later |

GoodMuyis:na lie which kain Samuel, na Pius Ikedia be him name |
If I was close to believing hard mirrors story, I have serious doubts now as he seems to be evading a simple question posed to him. But I really blame hopeful landlord for opening this thread. |
HardMirror:you need not demand healing of an amputee because if one is produced you will give the same explanation of it as you would a healing of the crippled testimony. You already admitted that healings are real but you doubt the source. You say it's some sort of psychological working so if we present you a miracle of a healed amputee, what would make you admit that it's spiritual and not psychological? That the hands and legs don't grow everyday is hardly any proof that miracles are unreal because even Jesus of the bible didn't heal all the amputees in his time. The biblical explanation for healings not performed at will is that it is a gift and the recipients do not just have that ability in their natural selves to produce these results at will. The bible even teaches that Jesus' healing gift flowed as He listened to His father i.e. He healed people as He was guided by the gift giver. Ephesians 3:20 reads, 'God is able to to exceeding, abundantly, above all we ask or think according to the power that works in us' i.e. God will work the supernatural through you to the extent to which you have built yourself spiritually. And herein lies God's greatest issue: He has to work with humans. I'm sure you read about K. Kulhman. Do you realize that the gifts slowed as she tried to live 'her life' and she got married and deviated from God's plan for her life. Her kind is pretty rare because only precious few are willing to pay the price. (The body wants to have sex, sleep, eat, enjoy, etc) but to doubt their credibility would amount to naivety. I dont know you from Adam (first Adam or the last) and I don't know how your gift of word of knowledge worked i.e. if you could actually predict specific events in people's lives. Not general stuff like 'I see that your mother in law had a quarell with you some times ago' but stuff like 'your mother in law told you 5 years ago that you will never bear children' or 'you are in uniben now posing as a student and everybody thinks you are a student but you know you are not' even when the person making such bold statements have not previously met the persons to whom they are giving the predictions. So i'd like to know what category the word of knowledge gift you displayed falls into. You see friend, these are gifts and many at times its the flesh that hinders people from experiencing these spiritual events. In my own life I used to see a lot of stuff when I was more committed to God. I'm trying now but I know how I used to be previously. I was given a piece of information that my cousin was in the North when he was lost for over a year but I know how I prayed and fasted. In your previous posts, you alluded to prayer and fasting as a tool you used to get spiritual experiences but thing is you know those your experiences better than I do. But one thing I can guarantee you is that it has worked for me. I never heard an audible voice (some people claim they have and I have no reason to disbelieve as much as I would never doubt there's a place in the world called Germany just because I've never been there) but it was unmistakable. How could I have known my coz was in the North (Kano State precisely) when I had no natural information to support this? My question to you is: do you doubt that people previously crippled or blind, dumb, etc have been given ability to walk, see and talk by some means or do you say it's possible but it didn't come as a result of some supernatural means? If your answer is the latter, i'd be happy to learn how these things may have happened. I know you have read and heard a lot about Kathryn Kulhman. It would be naive to discount all the healings she performed as staged/unrealistic/a mental ability/etc but it's a choice on can make nonetheless. Finally I'd like to hear your views on how the universe happened. I know research is ongoing and all that stuff but based on your own studies and knowledge and all, how do you honestly think this universe happened. How do you think substances evolved and some how began to form? What do you think? |

HardMirror:Phewww! Image123 pissing on their chips yet again. They were having a field day until Image showed up on the scene. @Image: take a bow, son! Like a 1 man army you put them all where they belong Basically, atheists discredit the existence of God because of some perceived fault they see in Him e.g. why did He not heal Shola, why does He allow people suffer, etc Truth is God will not interfere in our sphere unless we give Him permission to do so. He is such a principled one. That is actually the definition of prayer, asking God or intervene in our affairs. This is why God is so particular about the church growing up to maturity because it's only through us He can express Himself to the world but we (the church today) have been very selfish, carnal etc and that limits the extent to which His desires can be fulfilled on earth. I'm sure you have not forgotten this line in our Lord's prayer: let Your will be done on earth the same way it's being carried out in heaven. Usually when people change their ways suddenly and begin to serve God, more often than not there was at least somebody praying fervently for them behind the scenes. This is the effect of continued and fervent praying. The bible says it makes supernatural power available in our sphere If you blame the church for the way the world is today I would listen to you but you use the 'God is at fault' line to embolden yourself in atheism, wrongly I know you guys were having a nice time before Image popped in and started giving some headaches And I'll tell you what. Even if God healed that boy today, the atheist would explain it away because he has decided to live independent of God because of his selfish desires. Remember the bible story were the rich man asked God to send prophets Moses and Elijah (iirc) to warn his family members on earth and God declined saying, even if an angel came on the scene, they would find a way to disbelieve. So in essence, you are asking for a proof to look for loopholes not because you are open to believing as there have been many incidences of supernatural healings all over the world these many centuries. Look at those and take a cue rather than focus on your half baked 'word of knowledge' experience as basis of truth and/or untruth Do have a great evening |
You see its written in a certain book that: The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men (Psalms 115:16) A lot of people think God runs the world. God?? Hell No. Who does? Satan? Nope. Satan influences humanity with his vices, etc but it was man that was given authority over the earth. Man runs the world. But I'll tell you what man does, man wants to eat his proverbial cake an still have it. Adam decided to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and what that implied was man made a statement that he was ready to live independent of God and bear the attendant responsibilities. Everything God has been doing from that time up till now has been purely redemptive. It did not end with Adam. Man today has decided to eat of the same tree as Adam. Not a bad thing really as life is all about choices. But guess who is to blame for the woes in the world? Man? No. God. Why? Because He's got all the power to make it all right. Yes He does but He asked you, can you allow me run the world but we refused. Yes we chose to do it ourselves and now we have the world in a mess. If God runs the events in the world today, He wouldnt ask us to pray 'Father let Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven'. God's will is being done in heaven but it's not so here on earth. I know people have been taught that God runs the world and is responsible for everything that happens in the world but there's nothing farther from the truth than this notion. So you see how man (humanity) would like to eat his cake by choosing to live independent of God and His ways and still wants to have his cake by not being responsible for the ills in the world. I still insist that there's something OP didn't tell us. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say he wanted to do certain stuff and still not feel guilty of his acts and so had to douse every voice of guilt by immersing himself into books and materials that emboldened his belief that there is no God. To claim that it was due to his inability to give sight to a needy old man and unanswered question is akin to given me some tales by moonlight stories and expect us to digest it just like that which would never happen. You see power in the spirit is like weightlifting. There are some things you can do and there are higher things you build yourself to be able to deal with in the spirit. The power that God would demonstrate of your behalf is the one you have built/the one that works in you. It's a partnership between man and the divine. No shortcuts. God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above what we ask or think according to the power that works in you. I am moved to write and write I will |
masonkz:It's you that thinks they don't. That's your assumption. Ever heard the term, 'hospital visitation' before? The only thing I cannot guarantee is who will get healed and who will not because it's a gift and they are only mediums of channeling that gift. I witnessed one while in school (was an outreach member). It was a kidney problem. Not an instant miracle but a miracle nonetheless. Kenneth Hagin has written a lot about healings performed in hospitals. |
No matter how people try to make light work of miracles, signs and wonders, you cannot dispute their credibility. I mean does psychology have what it takes to make a crippled man walk again. Have you been to crusades to see people on wheelchairs give up their wheelchairs and begin to walk. These things are documented so can they all be fake? It's easy for an atheist to sit in his home and discount miraculous happenings but that is not even a scientific thing to do. Why not go out there to the crusade ground and do your investigative journalism there? I would respect an atheist that does this more than the one that just says, 'it's all lies'. Now you say why dont these men of God just go to the streets and cure the mad Men? You forget that it's a gift. It's not like they have a factory where the produce miracles, the gift or the anointing just drops on them and they begin to do the impossible. Some have described it like a cloak coming over them (and I'm not referring to some good feeling/goosebumps we all have when praying and singing nicely). It's the anointing of the Spirit of God. It's a gift and it is given by the giver 'as He deems fit' or 'as He wills' as per King James Translation of the Bible. I want to write and write I will |
hopefulLandlord:and I'll give you the response I gave you earlier. Just like with divorce, it never says God supports or approves of slavery. I'll quote that passage again paraphrased: 'I allowed you to divorce because it was something you wanted to do but it was not my plan but yours.' If I marry a 13 year old girl today, the best God can do for me is give me rules to live with her harmoniously, he'll never by Himself dissolve the marriage even though He doesn't approve of it personally. I wish I could use a better analogy let's do with this one. |
I am moved to write and write I will. The greatest challenge God faces with redeeming mankind and making the world perfect is the He has to do it with imperfect man. Believe it or not there are people God has gifted to do miracles, signs and wonders. And I'm not talking about just gift of word of knowledge that the OP seemed to have (I do not belittle this gift), im talking about healings upon healings to hundreds and thousands. If a Smith Wigglesworth or a Kenneth Hagan or an Archbishop Benson Idaho said or a Kathryn Kulhman renounced their faith, I would pause and be shocked but not one who's major gift was word of knowledge which he could have mixed with guesses and clues. People have been crippled but rose again by this Power. People have received their sights. My cousin was missing (was kidnapped) for 15 months but God told me that he was not dead when people in the family began to admit that he might be dead. You say God doesn't speak but He told me that my cousin was in the North and a day later gave me an idea by dropping a strategy in my heart which when we put to use, brought my cousin back after 1 year and 3 months. Sometimes God separates men to do certain things in the world but they go astray because of money, women and sometimes power. I know you think God is wicked but have you ever thought about the fact that even Jesus, in His majesty, does cry? |
hopefulLandlord:that was the best thing He could do. The creatures that pervaded the earth were not mere humans but a mix of demonic and man as recorded in scriptures. He didn't have anything to loose as the world was filled with violence and wickedness and those creatures dominated the world, were pervading the earth rather swiftly whilst killing the human race at will |

No! The best God did was allow Jesus die. God is a righteous judge. People must understand that. Just picture a scenario where a judge has got to make decision at the court of law where books are open and there are parties that are ready to point out injustice by the Judge. He says the best God did was to send people preaching but how far from the truth can that be. He paid a legal ransome on our behalf and says, if you don't want your soul to be taken over, here's the way. Simples! Number two God will not perish a soul because he told a small lie. No one but God the judge knows who'll major it and who wouldn't. The bible records the time of giving of rewards that some would be rewarded handsomely but some others will get little reward and some will escape fire by a hairs breadth so to say. |
I have a proof that the universe came about all by itself. Scientific proof by the way. It happened many many many years ago (in the head of someone). I give you 12 billion years, you cannot find out how the earth came about. Ever heard of infinite recess? If you say it all started from point X, the next question is did point X just come on the scene? That's why I love these debates, some people claim you cannot get some answers by scientific research, some say you can get all the answers through scientific enquiry but struggle over what is supposed to be a simple question. Yes I mean the age long question - how did it all start?? |
hopefulLandlord:Hi, you can quote all you want but I'll give you a hint of the circumstances in which God gave Moses this law. Matthew 19:8 gives the context in which these laws were crafted. It reads thus: Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. Note the words, 'because of the hardness of your hearts.' There were certain customs the Jews practiced and we're stubborn to a fault. God giving them a regulation to live by was Him doing what we call damage control today. He says 'from the beginning it was not so' meaning they chose to live in certain ways but God wouldn't give up on them but still tried to work out a way of fellowshiping with them despite them set in their evil ways. |
How would a loving God cast his creatures to hell? This question is similar to the one people ask when a loved one dies: why would God allow my sister die? You see friends, people have wrongly made God responsible for death but this notion couldn't be any further from the truth. The bible records that when Moses died, an entity went ahead to claim him. Also it records that Satan held people hostage after their death Jesus dying was simply providing an escape route to the natural destiny of sinful man.the soul of man was already corrupted and so Satan laid claim to everyone who left these shores. Salvation was offered as an escape route from an impossible situation. Rev Kenneth Hagin of blessed memory once detailed how he was transcending these shores to a place of darkness and he was overpowered by dark, strong, hideous beings but miraculously got delivered when a voice sounded that shattered the dark beings. God despises death as much as He does people bound in hades by dark forces but people have erroneously given God the credit for this as they have done all other ills in rhe world |
19 Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:19-20 |
HardMirror:Few points from me: 1. OP has not told us the real motivation for denouncing his faith. Those unanswered questions he highlighted are excuses at best. Usually there are deeper issues. Examples are loss of a loved one or similar painful experiences and also the need to be 'free'. As is evident from OPs post, Hard mirror is now a lover of the romance section on Nairaland. This is something he wouldn't be able to freely do were he still a Christian. All he needed to do was question some Bible beliefs, get some books that support the idea of atheism and do his best to douse every voice of guilt in his conscience. I do not doubt that once upon a time he was 'on fire for God' but let's be logical, he renounced his faith so easily after failing to heal a blind man and some beliefs not adding up. Common! There was a part of the story OP has hidden from us. Heard a story about Rev. King how that he was genuinely a God follower in his school days but something happened along the way. Its very possible and is no biggie. No matter how great one has done stuff in God's name, when greed comes in or the need to gratify oneself with money, power, WOMEN, etc, then all the person needs to do is find justifications to thrash those ideas he/she once held dear. It's not like atheism has made him more helpful to humanity. In fact if he had gone ahead ministering to people, I'm sure he would have helped humanity better, even though he says it was all human (undivine, if you like). So the undivine healing he had brought to at least a few was not a bad thing if you ask me. In order words, if you heal people through human means as you claim, the fact is they are being healed even if you mistook the source. It's more helpful to humanity. Let me borrow a NLand term: who your atheism epp?? Mark the word -- Selfishness. This is the very root of atheism 2. I'm glad the way Image123 and KingEbuka put the OP where he belongs. They owned the thread. OP has been practically avoiding Image123. @Image and Ebuka, I'm proud of you both but your Dad is even more proud. You placed this thread in its rightful place 3. I'm anything but perfect but when I witnessed Archbishop Idahosa raise a cripple in one of his crusades back in the day, I was in awe. I thought I was watching TV. The memory still vivid in my head, even if I wanted to doubt, I just couldn't. There have been times in my life I secretly wish there was no God but it wouldn't add up. 4. Atheism gives the impression that they hold no belief system (in the manner of organized religion). Truth is they believe in something. Even though the explanation of how the universe came to be seems unscientific, they still hold on to it. If you say, okay maybe this was a point in the process not the beginning, they don't usually agree. Scientific explanations have not solved the question of abiogenesis but atheists still trust whatever it claims to be the explanation of how the universe started. This tells me that people first believe with their hearts and then rationalize with their heads and not the other way round or how do you explain believing the most scientific explanation that doesn't make scientific sense? 5. So my dear you're not the first spirokoko to abandon the faith, and I don't think you will be the last. Even Paul the apostle highlighted the possibility of same happening to him, and in Hebrews 6 (I'm sure you have not forgotten all your Bible passages, lol), the possibility of one who has seen times 1000 of whatever you have been privileged to see, was mentioned.
