Cosplay:Bro,abeg make una take am easy. Hopefully things would get better with time. People have been duped of hard earned money here in the past(no car/money to show for it). But we thank God we were able to put a stop to it(I suppose). Hopefully, the issue of vin disclosure not being adhered to,would take a while to adjust to. Sometimes, I also forget to include it but I always provide it on request. |
valarinz:Well, I think and would want to believe that to the enlightened and reasonable ones,my points are clear. If anybody decides to call me names,it's that person's business. I've been here long enough and I'm used to these things. |
Ipfreely:I'm not holding a brief for those who engage in sharp practices. I actually want people to know the value of a clean title car so that when we bring in such and advertise it,they wouldn't ask why it is that expensive. I've heard that story too many times. Besides, you and I know that not everybody is disciplined enough to stick to appropriate ways of doing business. Just a few have that grace and discipline. |
Explorers:A Camry of $10,000 is roughly 3.6m+ at CBN exchange rate without shipping or clearing. If you add shipping+clearing+ dealer's profit, you are looking at almost 5m naira. Advertise that on Nairaland here, and watch miscreants call you all manner of names. I've bee there before and I know what's up. That being said,I won't dispute the fact that there are greedy dealers. I know someone who shipped in an accidented Highlander years ago and fixed it to resell. When he wanted to bid for it, I told him not to buy it for resale but to buy it and butcher it for parts. He came here and fixed it and spent a lot of money on it,and could barely even sell it well... I agree that people should disclose the history of cars here. As regards the issue of rolled back mileage, it is ignorance that is killing Nigerians and at such, they become a victim of their over sabi. Do you know that some cars with high mileage on the odometer, usually have their engines changed at around 180k-220k km? When the engine has been changed, the car doesn't start reading from zero. Sometimes, a car with a landing mileage of 350k, might have had the engine changed at 280k. This means the current engine would be on about 70k. Instead of our people to focus on the performance of the car and how sound the engine is,they'd be shouting mileage is too high. Dealers who are desperate to sell, end up rolling back mileage to suit the customer's ignorance. Some rolled back mileages are even done in the US. Imagine a client looking for 2003 corolla with mileage of 80k max,in 2018. The average drive for a car is about 15k miles/yr in the US but some cars do more than that yearly. Multiply 15k by 15 yrs and that gives you 225k miles. But you'd see ignorant over sabi folks, demanding maximum of 80-100k miles. This is why most dealers resort to tricks. |
Cosplay:Thanks |
I just want to lend my voice to this. We've had this discussion in the past and it's good we address it again. I'm going to speak solely from my personal point of view. When I got into car business, I was initially into strictly clean title cars. Unfortunately, the prices were usually on the high side and I know the no of times I was called a thief on nl here cos of the huge difference in prices. As much as I tried to make a lot of people understand, it fell on deaf ears. Most of those cars stayed on ground for a long while before being sold, and some were sold at below landing cost. Most of my partners got discouraged and refused to ship in vehicles anymore. One thing I can say from experience here,is that the percentage of people who are ready to, and can afford clean title cars on this site, are not even up to 4% of the numerous potential clients we have here. Most potential buyers always look for cars at ridiculous prices. You see people whose budget can only afford a car of 1.5m,coming to price a car of 3m. As much as 90% of the cars that are shipped in,are bought on auction and on auction, prices are not fixed. The era where dealers were making huge profits on cars, has gone. There are too many cars on in Lagos now and to the best of my knowledge, most dealers I know, sell to break even. If you find that some cars are quite expensive, it could be that the landing cost, are quite high. I know that there are dealers who import terribly accidented vehicles and I've had cause to quarrel with some of them. Sometimes, I also post cars with salvage history and that's cos I have a lot of friends and dealers who push their cars to me,to help them sell. I do not have issues providing vin on request. But let us be clear on something. The fact that a car has a mild damage and is classified as salvage, doesn't make it automatically cheap at the auction. At the end of the day,we're not perfect in business but can only strive to attain it. |
I'm sorry for any foolish Nigerian that is daft enough to trust the police, and return firearms to them. Police that can't protect you, should be the last organization that you should take orders from. |
NarnieSnyper:I was going to say almost same thing. It's hard for children to treat their moms like this. There's more to this story. My mom would be 60 this year, and I'm here thinking of how to give her a befitting birthday and buy her a worthy gift even if I have to sacrifice a lot to get it done, just from my meagre resources. How much more a footballer who earns so much? Something must be wrong somewhere. |
JideAmuGiaka:You just echoed my thoughts. |
Fools. They're just making it easy for Buhari to return. Nigerian politicians are about the dumbest and least intelligent on the planet. The only time they tend to have sense,is when they want to loot the treasury. |
All these social media celebrity morons have come again with their twisted advice's. Nobody is doing anybody a favour by marrying them. Ladies, disregard this bullshit if you love yourself and your home. |
I didn't bother watching the last game and this, cos I was damn sure we would lose both. I wouldn't even watch any arsenal match till the end of the season. Wenger bought players that weren't needed and sold those that were needed just because he was bereft of ideas on how to use them. Have you guys noticed that since we stopped using Giroud as a center forward, the team has been on a downward turn? The last time he played as a centre forward,we finished 3rd in the league. Wenger decided to use Sanchez and from then onwards, our fortunes turned down. Purchasing lacazette didn't add nothing to it. At the end of the day,we might not even play Europa league with the way we are losing now. |
Houseofglam7:Lmfao. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take up that post if it's available. I'm doing the needful right away. ![]() |
Houseofglam7:Receive it. |
The man is an idiot. |
Moukandjo:Fvck off my mentions scallywag! |
Moukandjo:slowpoke, the argument isn't about whether AIT has had issues before with salaries before and shutting down operations. The argument is that "a lot of businesses have had to shut down and retrench staffs under this government, like never seen before". The second argument is that " AIT was once a profitable organization even without having direct access to the man at the seat of power ". Learn to use your head when it is needed and stop carrying it about like a piece of decoration. |
It's funny how some brain dead nitwits are attributing this solely to lack of patronage from govt, forgetting that this same station was a pioneer TV station in the broadcast industry even without govt intervention, and carried out expansion even when Jonathan wasn't yet in power. Until Nigerians begin to tell themselves the truth, nothing would ever change in this country. |
galaxy15:There's a difference between hype and lies. This statement by the minister sounds very much like a pure lie. Do you know what it means for rice import to drop by 95%? That means Nigeria as a country, has attained almost a 100% self sufficiency in rice production and if that is the case, rice would be selling for extremely very low prices per bag in the market. These things aren't rocket science and anyone with a functional brain, would be able to decipher this. Yes,improvement is going on in local rice production(which started with the previous government) but it is not in any way, close to what the minister is trying to make us believe. |
Lol. |
slimdamatrix01:I'm not using whatspp plus. I'm using Whatsapp. |
They've been bombarding me with ads on their platform since early this year or late last year and I find it disgusting. |
I used to have lots of dogs way back. At a time 7,at another time 8... The stress of looking after them, isn't easy especially when you are a business person and you're not going to always be around at home, nor do you have people living with you. I don't think I can deal with that anymore. But I love dogs a lot. |
JandyJ:Lol. Carry go;norrin do you. |
