Enough of this nonsense in this section, if you cannot be civilized, I don't see why you should be allowed to keep making these disgusting posts. Mynd44 lalasticlala Seun Marpol Dominique |
GreenWorld:"Better" engine is relative. An engine can be better than others in some categories, and be less effective in other categories. The 2007 XC90 only has 2 engine variants. 3.2l I6, and 4.4l V8. The T5 and T6 engines were eliminated for the XC90 after 2006. There's also the D5 engine for 2007, but that's a diesel engine and wasn't available in North America. The 3.2l I6 is capable for the XC90, puts out 235 bhp and adequate torque, gets the vehicle up and moving reasonably well. The fuel efficiency is also adequate for its weight and is comparable to other models in that category. The 4.4l V8 is the top engine for the 07 XC90. Puts out 311 bhp, impressive torque for its size, and is the engine of choice for the active driver. Naturally the expected worry would be fuel economy in a V8, however the difference in real world fuel economy between the V8 and the I6 is really not significant, under normal, average driving conditions in everyday commuting. Slam on the V8 throttle however, and all that changes. The increased V8 performance naturally translates to increased fuel consumption and lower fuel economy. The same applies to the I6 in spirited driving, but less so. A vehicle is much more than just its engine, of course. The V8 engine comes in the top XC90 trims, and typically has the most available options. AWD, third row seating, rear AC setup, pop up display, headrest DVD displays, etc. If you're lucky and find the V8 Sport trim, it's the Holy grail for the 07. Had fine leather stitching, blue backlit dash gauges, sport 19" wheels, sport exhaust tips, and other V8 sport specific options. The 3.2l I6 typically is available in FWD, may also have third row seating and the entertainment options. Both trims are mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission from AISIN-WARNER, which does a relatively capable job. Certainly better than the earlier T5 and T6, the latter of which was a well known fiasco. In summary, your priorities would determine which trim would be most suitable. Do you get upset and triggered when random vehicles accelerate past you? The V8 is the engine for you. Do you enjoy engine baritone? That deep hum that shows up during spirited driving? The V8 is the engine for you. Do you pay more attention to smiles per gallon, at the expense of miles per gallon? The V8 is the engine for you. Do you often traverse poor, offroad inclined terrain? The Haldex AWD would do you some good, though it may not be the most powerful in its class. The V8 is the engine for you. |
oscillation55:The 06 Xc90 has various engine based trims, is it a 2.5turbo? Or a V8. You need to verify that it's actually a 2006 XC90, because the previous model year, 2005, physically looks essentially the same, but had a notoriously unreliable engine/transmission pairing, the T6. For 2006, the V8 replaced the T6 as the premium XC90 trim. Reliability is on par with similar models, reliability is related to maintenance to some extent, both of which can be said to be average, for an 06 XC90. The earlier V8 engines had some balance shaft issues, but those were resolved subsequently. For more on those issues: https://blog.fcpeuro.com/the-dark-side-of-volvos-excellent-v8 Ruggedness, the XC90 wasn't really designed as an off road vehicle, it's no Jeep Wrangler or Toyota 4runner. However the Haldex AWD system is relatively capable of taking you through most terrain you would encounter while driving in Nigeria. Just don't go climbing mountains, and you would be fine. Fuel efficiency for the 06 is linked to the engine trim. The V8 is a 4.4l Yamaha designed workhorse putting out 311 bhp, and impressive torque for its category. The 2.5t engine can feel significantly underpowered, especially as the XC90 is a rather heavy vehicle. The V8 is not overly thirsty under normal driving applications. If you're one of those people that can't stand people passing you when you drive, or you're lead footed, well that would translate to your pocket in fuel costs. The 2.5t is a relative fuel sipper, but don't expect to win any races with it. Parts and expertise are available for the XC90s. Volvos have witnessed a recent resurgence, however outside Lagos some parts (and expertise) may be tricky to locate, one may have to resort to buying in Lagos and shipping cross country. In Lagos however, there's a street in Ladipo, Daleko/Alhaji Amusa street, that's almost exclusively all things Volvo. You could find pretty much any part you'd ever need there. Labour, too. The desired features are also linked to the trims. The V8 models tend to come with third row seating (only comfortable for kids), third row AC outlets, rear seat entertainment (dvd/headphone outlets), BLIS (blind spot monitors). Other available options for all trims are the pop up display unit, rear parking or proximity sensors, etc. The summary is, for its price point, the 06 XC90 is a capable vehicle. Are there better alternatives? Certainly, but most of those have higher sticker prices. If the V8 scares you, up your budget a bit to include the 2007 XC90, with its all new 3.2l Inline 6 Cylinder engine which is a compromise between the 2.5t and the 4.4l V8. In addition, your location may also influence the availability of parts and labour. |
Kelvin30286063:Lol Bros, you say I can't make comparisons, but its obvious that the entire purpose of your posts and this thread, is to compare the IS250 to other vehicles, Mercedes Benz models, for instance. Those pictures I posted are pictures of 2012 Acura TL, the same model you own and drive, all mangled up, I strongly doubt that anybody survived those wrecks. You're trying to create the impression that the IS250 is an unsafe vehicle, based on wrecks you claim to have come across. I could also make the same claim for the Acura, based on those pictures. There are several factors that affect structural integrity. Prior collisions, unsafe handling, are a few of them. If the IS 250 were a structurally unsafe vehicle, that would have been revealed a long time ago by the people who buy these vehicles new, and who use them for hundreds of thousands of miles, before we receive them. So bros, avoid the fallacy of hasty generalization. Anecdotes sound good, but aren't always factual. |
Kelvin30286063:What vehicle would you say this is/was?

Foreigna:One man's meat. Berger is pretty much the largest auto market in Lagos, afaik. I've gotten vehicles from there on 4 different occasions, it's my choice due to the large selection. The key is to go with someone familiar with the area, have a v.i.n check source at hand, and always research the vehicle model before you make the trip. If you just go there ad lib, you would almost definitely get burnt. Only when the v.i.n checks out, and the pricing and features match, should you get them to bring out the vehicle, then do an underbody rust inspection, before the compulsory test drive and closer inspection. |
Ikenna351:I personally am not one for ad hominem exchanges, but yeah, I think I remember you, Mr Ikenna, we had a run in several years ago, I was in a Peugeot WhatsApp group which you ran as an admin, I see your conceited, completely irrelevant, nonsensical and selfish, self centered approach to everything to life has not changed. You clearly have not gotten wiser with age. I frankly hadn't even remembered you existed till I saw this post, and went through some of your similarly quite foolish and ill advised posts. There's really not much to add here, If at this stage and age in your life, you haven't discovered the gift of rational thought, I'm afraid there really is no hope for you. I don't expect to ever read or respond to any posts or submissions you ever make again, on any platform. People like you are best totally avoided. Cheers. |
9icetoo:Isn't that the guy with numerous alternate monikers? I've counted like 2 of his known alternates on this thread so far. |
Aanumi16:That looks like an Acura or Honda side mirror, I assume it's the LEDs and folding function you're after. . Bro, just go to Mgbuka Onitsha, you're 100% guaranteed to find that or something similar. |
radautoworks:Don't you guys have access to high end tools with official Honda support? To resolve the persistent oil level warning light, I mean. Because while it may sound great to say that the underlying issue has been fixed, seeing that light constantly will always cause the gentleman palpitations. |
I have to say, Radautoworks, I really didn't expect this to be an 8 page thread. I just figured all would be sorted out satisfactorily and everyone would just move on. Kinda surprised, and not in a good way, that this matter is still raging. |

speedfreak:Bros, gotta have better situational awareness than this, may not be the best idea to have your number splashed all over these pages. Reach out to the guy privately. DM or something. |
Aanumi16:This person has obviously never made this trip before. May not even have made any interstate trips. Otukpo to Abuja is 3 hours? By underground railway? |
aieromon:Yep, this right here. If you don't get to Lokoja by 5pm, just prepare to either get to Abuja by midnight, or spend the night in Lokoja. The Gwagwalada construction sef would not be such an obstacle, but that Lokoja one is just crazy. |
Melodramatic on top person own money again. Lol. You clearly either didn't understand the point of this thread, or you're just pandering and virtue signaling. Carry your own melodrama go back to gossip and family section, madam. Who do melodrama pass you, at the end of the day? |
NwaNimo1:Silly memes Bigot |
nurey:The part about it not being available in any US market vehicle isn't true, I own a 2005 US market Tacoma with the 2.7l 2TR engine from the factory. |

aspiring44:Very false. |
shortgun:I was going to reply this post with some acerbic commentary, then I realized the username was quite familiar. This is the notorious shortgun who never ceases to display his ignorance and belligerence on the Mercedes Benz thread. Carry on, it's just your nature. |
rationalmind:Bros, you cannot expect other people to lay complaints following your own schedule and time frame. He who wears the shoes, knows where they pinch. If he's spent considerable time coming up with this thread and lengthy posts, we should not respond by prescribing timeframes. |
nurey:Boss, don't be so quick to judge. This is definitely not the regular North American Corolla, this may very well be an Altis. I've come to discover that there are so many different versions of Corollas, not all Altis models have leather or those other features you mentioned. Look at the front bumper again, look at the clear side markers, look at the fender turn signals, look at the steering wheel. Then look at the side mirror controls, this also has automatic foldable side mirror controls. Could very well be some version of the Altis. |
alphaNomega:Lol, have no fear That little detail he mentioned is a pointer that he may own an older model vehicle, or a non-North American model vehicle. Many older vehicles used the R12 refrigerant system which was the predecessor of the R134a system in most cars on the roads today. With the R12 system, there's a sight glass in the engine bay connected to the AC hoses that indicates the level of refrigerant present in the system. The R134A system eliminated the sight glass. |
osato45:In addition to the reply above, yes, a vacuum pump can detect AC system leaks, however to pinpoint the exact source of the leak you would need additional tools. Sealed AC systems can work for years, as long as there are no leaks or malfunctions |
Peppermintflav:Lol it took some effort and cost to source the vacuum pump, at the moment it's not for sale, I just assist people with vacuuming as requested. Meanwhile make we try dey environmentally responsible, though situation can make it hard sometimes. These refrigerants are not so wonderful for the environment |
Peppermintflav:I have a vacuum pump, if you need one. I'm around Onitsha though. Also have UV dye aerosols and blacklight for leak detection. I no be AC technician o, na situation make me go buy all those things, as you observed no reasonable AC tech with correct equipment for this side. Finally once you understand the principle of AC operation, diagnosis and fixing no too dey complicated with the right equipment. After the condenser upgrade, how much more refrigerant did you add to the system, considering the factory refrigerant volume was expanded? |
radautoworks:Hello ma'am Oh, It's visible without any special equipment? That's good. How do I go ahead with the order? |
radautoworks:Hello I posted on your other thread. I need this please, and th UV light source, didn't find it on the website
|
radautoworks:Good morning ma'am i need this dye, also need the light but I couldn't find the light on your site
