Best thing though is to try to avoid mechanics of any kind as much a possible. ..so far i have avoided mechanics for the past 5 months. ...I am really hoping to push that period to a year...aside oil changes twice a year of course...Because even the best among them sometimes leave your car with a new problem after fixing an old one .....Not to talks about their absolute disregard for my car's paint...I have had to deal with new dents after a visit to the mechanic. ..Somehow their spanners find a way to leave a scar or two on the car's body...

In as much as most mechanics shouldn't be in that space, I really don't think customers should be involved in his own service delivery. That erodes value. If that is the case then we should all learn human anatomy to support our doctors. Pick some legal lessons to weigh our lawyers. i don't totally agree with you. One should have atleast the basic understanding of what he uses daily. Because you are not a doctor doesn't mean you shouldn't know safe practices that will ensure good and sound health. You are not a lawyer doesn't mean you shouldn't know basic things that should keep you away from crime. All I'm saying is that if you are a car owner and you do not know basic things about how your car runs and what is healthy for the car in this era of internet, then you deserve whatever the quack mechanics do. Kashif, your knowledge of transmission, I'm very sure the basics were learnt online.

In all these cases, i just dont blame the evil mechanics alone, but the car owners who do not want to know anything about their cars aside driving them. Internet is free. There is no knowledge/information you can't get online.

just yesterday while looking over a colleagues Honda baby boy,I noticed the sound of the engine was 'off'. I decided ti scan with my scanner. The air fuel ratio sensor and the down stream sensors where not responding. It was static at zero. I was shocked!
I opened the hood to confirm my fears. The upstream sensor (air/fuel ratio) has been disconnected! I'm sure the down stream was disconnected too. Fortunately, the mechanic that worked on it was passing by. My colleague asked him why the sensor was disconnected?his response was legendary. He said since the fan was faulty, the o2 sensor was the culprit, and he had to disconnect it and connect the fan male to the o2 sensor female connector. Jesus is lord! I blasted him seriously. I was livid with rage. Even the air filter has never been cleaned. The car has been asphyxiating and guzzling fuel all this while,hence the bad sound and terrible gas mileage.

I got this car directly from the US myself and I noticed the AC only works perfectly in the morning til noon. Anytime from noon, it will only pick for few seconds and stop and will pick again for few seconds and stop. The AC is practically useless from noon to evening. I was told it's the compressor but I want to be really sure before replacing the compressor.

Pls if you have experience this before, kindly share the solution.. Thanks

start with simple things. Check the cabin filter in the glove compartment first. Then use a good scanner to check if the pressure sensor is working well.

All these projects are without benefit to the masses. Ugwuanyi give enugu people portable water supply. It's a shame that evennin government house, water supply is by Tankers. The shown projects only benefit government officials. Roads built by sullivan need proper maintenance not the uneven patches he uses to mess up these roads. Very wonderful development. Despite the insecurity in the state, infrastructural development is not relegated to the back seat unlike benue where there isn't even insecurity at the level of kaduna. Yet benue governor cannot commission any project. Is there insecurity in abia? Those shouting misplaced priority in kaduna, what can you say about abia that has no security challenge, yet no projects on ground. You can't find a voice when it gets to states like abia and benue. this goes to tell you that retailers are our problem in everything. They get agricultural produce cheap. They sell at exhorbitant market price, thereby driving inflation up. They make things difficult in Nigeria out of greed. Then turn around to blame buhari. The retailers are the everyday Nigerians who complain of hardship. E go hard for Nigeria to better. We are just too wicked.

Thanks everyone for your contributions, I’m not actually using a road side mechanic. I only call them for not so technical stuffs that I know I can supervise my self like changing bulbs and all.
Tried starting the car yesterday and it didn’t come up again until I did my normal ritual or giving it gas. Took it back to my mechanic after I was able to start it (This time, I made sure it was the main guy that attended to me). And it was checked again, he found out that it was two of the plugs that was faulty and for the issue of the car not starting, he said the battery was already getting weak so I replaced the battery. So far, its been good.
Still watching for some time. Hopefully that resolves it totally.

battery was getting weak from the several cranks you give the car in tge morning to start. A weak battery will not start the car when the throttle pedal is floored. If that cranking issue continues, there is a problem with fuel delivery or engine coolant temperature switch.

Sorry about your ordeal. Injector cleaner, cleaned nozzles.... on a 2013 camry? How do you guys allow roadside mechanics mess with such recent cars? Good you have a scanner. I bet the plugs you threw in there are not the recommended plugs. Cylinder 4 misfire could be the plug, the injector or harness or even the cylinder itself. But i wouldn't think of cylinder. Coil will usually throw a coil code. You have changed plugs, coils and "serviced" injectors. Your problem is likely from the work done. Change where you buy fuel too.
