Delta Police Quash Another Initiation Ceremony, Arrest Suspected Cult Members With Dangerous Weapons (Photos)

Operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit, SACU of the Delta State Command acting on intelligence has foiled yet another cult initiation in Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North LGA.

Focus Naija can report that the raid was carried out in the early hours of 25th September, 2021 at the community bush which was the venue of the said initiation, ten male suspects were arrested and dangerous arms and ammunition recovered.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relation Officer of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, it was the Commander of Delta State Anti Cult Unit (SACU) that detailed tactical operatives who stormed the venue of the initiation that night to disrupt it.

It was gathered that while other suspects escaped into the bush, the operatives recovered a locally made revolver pistol with four (4) live and one (1) expended 9mm ammunition.

“Two expended cartridges were also recovered from two of the suspected cultists while some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, one Honda accord car with Reg no. Lagos KSF 586 DU, five motorcycles and a bag containing clothes were recovered from the scene.”, he said.

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu on Sunday, 26th September, 2021 took to his Instagram page to criticize President Buhari for current woes despite excessive borrowing.

Focus Naija can report that he has a history of rendering lives useless as the wife of another victim has cried out for justice.

Identified as Solomon Bassey, the victim had gone to bail his brother-in-law, a tricycle rider from police custody when he fell into the hands of Felix and his unnamed colleagues in 2020.

According to the wife of the victim, the officers were infuriated by the amount he offered for bail and ordered him out of the station. Felix and other officers proceeded to beat him severely and since then has not been able to stand on his feet or use his hands to do anything meaningful.

He was not the suspect but they left him bedridden before this particular case that led to their dismissal.

The Delta State Police Command has announced the dismissal of two police officers that assaulted a keke rider, fractured his skull and left him incapacitated.

Focus Naija can report that the dismissed officers identified as Sgt Felix Ebikabowei and Ndubuisi Abazie, were on an illegal duty after the close of work when they descended on the victim after an argument.

According to a statement signed by the acting Police Public Relation Officer of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, the two officers attached to the B Division in Warri were tried by a disciplinary committee and found guilty on two counts of an offence of incivility to members of the public and disobedience to lawful order.

Hence, their dismissal from service with effect from 14th September, 2021 and will be charged to court for prosecution.

The statement reads in part;

The Commissioner of police upon receiving the complaint immediately directed that the case be transferred to SCID for discreet and unbiased investigation.

Investigation later revealed that the two officers have a case to answer on the serious assault on the victim who is still in critical condition. The CP again ordered that they should face the internal disciplinary action and the command provost was directed to try them in an orderly room.

The two officers who were tried for the offence of incivility to members of the public, disobedience to lawful order contrary to paragraph E(iii) first schedule of the police act and regulations 370 paragraph F of police act and regulations CAP P.9 laws of the federal republic of Nigeria 2004 were found guilty on both counts and have been dismissed from the force W.E.F 14/9/2021.

The CP while condoling with the family of the victim has ordered that the dismissed policemen remain in custody at the state criminal investigation department and they will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

The Commissioner of Police Delta state CP Ari Muhammed Ali assures members of the public on the readiness of the command to deal decisively with any erring officer and is also using this medium to send a strong warning to officers of the command noting that abuse of human right, incivility to members of the public and unprofessional conduct in all areas will not be tolerated.

A young man identified as Emma Ereegarnoma has allegedly tried to pluck out his mother’s eyes for money rituals to buy Benz in Delta.

Focus Naija can report that the incident occurred around 8pm at the Okuokoko residence of the suspect on Tuesday, 14th September, 2021.

According to reports, the suspect invited his mother to his house for a surprise and she went unsuspectingly of his motive.

It was gathered that the petty trader met her son in a very joyous mood with loud music playing from his home theatre.

He reportedly welcomed her, locked the door and after a while started to strangle her. Her cries for help was submerged in the loud music blasting from the speakers.

However, she used her last strength to break free and fled outside where neighbors rescued her, apprehended the son and handed him over to the police.

A source, Joseph Adjari, privy to the incident wrote;

Mrs oke Ereeganoma who is from Odorubo in Ughelli North LGA but resides in Okuokoko and sells food stuffs at Okuokoko market beside the Okuokoko Police Station has survived a ritualist attack by her son.

She narrated the story that for some days now the son has been boasting that he must drive GLK this week, so on Tuesday at about 8pm the son invited her to his house at Caroline street okuokoko that she had surprise for her .

On getting there she saw the son in joyous mood with loud music, then after the son lock the door and was trying to strangle her to death by trying to pluck off her eyes, she started screaming for help but due to the loudness of the music there was no response, but strength came upon her and she ran outside for help and neighbors came for her rescue and the son was caught and has been taken to Orerokpe Police Station.

Currently Mrs Oke is receiving treatment in an Hospital in Okuokoko.

An undergraduate of the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State has reportedly committed su-icide over his inability to spell in class.

Focus Naija can report that the deceased, simply identified as Solomon Oboh, was in ND 1C, Department of Public Administration.

According to reports, the deceased, in the presence of his course mates was asked to spell “computer technology” during an assignment presentation.

It was gathered that he couldn’t spell it due to stage fright and his course mates took advantage of it to mock and troll him.

He was later found dead in his room where he hung himself.

Although the institution is yet to react to the development that took everyone by surprise, the Director of Welfare, Public Administration, Comr Aramude Joyce in a condolence message sympathized with the entire department and prayed for God to have mercy on his soul

Dare devil armed robbers allegedly attacked Diete Koki Memorial Hospital in Opolo, Yenagoa.

This is as residents at Amarata-Imgbi road are currently locked up indoors over incessant robberies.

Focus Naija can report that they allegedly gained entrance through a perimeter fence and robbed doctors and the hospital’s patients including women that were in labour.

According to Adakien Torukuru, a source privy to the incident, a member of his church was also on labour when the robbery happened.

When contacted by newsmen, a doctor Okeleghel Awudumapu who narrated his ordeal, said the two-man gang took him unaware while returning from his call room. Doctor Awudumapu, said his belongings and that of patients from the labour ward and their family members were all stolen.

Reacting to the incident, the Medical Director ,Dr Emmanuel Fetepigi, who expressed sadness, described the act as barbaric. Dr Fetepigi said management will collaborate with the Ministry of Health to ensure that measures are put in place to forestall future occurrence.

Kubiat Isaac Akpan, a 28-year-old fresh graduate of Architecture from the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State has died under police custody.

Focus Naija can report that the victim, awaiting NYSC mobilization, was arrested by policemen on Sunday, August 29, 2021 while relaxing at Eni Stores in Uyo.

According to Human Rights Activist and Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, the deceased popularly referred to as “Icon” was taken to B Division and detained at Ewet Housing Estate but did not make it out alive.

He said the deceased was the only son of an aged parents and they were only informed of the tragic death of their son on Thursday.

Curently, the lawyer and members of the deceased’s family have met with the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death and ensure that justice is met for him.

He wrote;

JUSTICE FOR KUBIAT

I am representing the family of Mr. Kubiat Isaac Akpan (popularly known as Icon), a 28 year old fresh graduate of Architecture from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Kubiat was arrested while relaxing at Eni Stores in Uyo by some policemen at about 7pm on Sunday, August 29, 2021 and taken to B Division, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo. He did not come out of police custody alive.

Until his life was taken away, Kubiat was awaiting mobilization for service by the National Youth Service Corps.

I met with the Deputy Commissioner of Police and other officers at the State CID, Akw Ibom State Police Command, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in company of my colleague, Augustine Asuquo and some members of the deceased family.

We are currently working with the police to ensure that justice is done. I deliberately refrained from making public comments on the case before now because the aged parents of the deceased needed to be informed of this very tragic development.

They were only informed on Thursday about the murder of their only son. This is all that I want to say at this time. Investigation is ongoing. I will make additional public statements in due course as the need arises.
