Why are they blasting him? Must we die on our knees praying for a dead nation? The foundation of Nigeria is faulty, unfortunately it cannot be fixed because we keep doing the same things over and over again, expecting different results.

Nigeria cannot be fixed unless we go back to the drawing board. No need praying for the country anymore. Right from the days of our forefathers nai dem dey pray for Nigeria, is it not clear it's a dead case? undecided

Following the release of a recent look of Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke by Ovation publisher Dele Momodu, there have been mixed reactions from Nigerians on Twitter...

@DamilareAgoro: Can't believe this's Diezani! I still feel for her even if truly she stole Nigeria's money.

‏@Tbabz__: Diezani has cancer indeed. She wasn't lying at all.

‏@OlisaOsega: God! I can't believe Wat I'm seeing, is dis Diezani?

@blessberrie: Like I'm in tears right now

@tosinadeda: Unfortunately stolen funds can't save anybody!

@linusNoni: Propaganda setting in. Diezani pics to soon be on Net she looks weak. Wish her speedy recovery but that should stop any Investigation.

@queen_nickki: Diezani is actually dying OMG!

@forakin: For all her misdeeds, in the face of personal struggles, this is no time to gawp over pictures of the stricken, we are all vulnerable.

@Harieson: Asides the paris attacks, i got freaked out by that pic of Diezani Madueke. I'm all curled up right now. Struggling to believe she's the one

@AdeolaFayehun: Diezani Alison-Madueke: May God grant her quick recovery!

@InnaRooney: I don't think I will celebrate Diezani's sickness cause I know not how I will end up. If you can't wish her well don't pray for her worse.

arabianights:
Was in the bulk room of a first generation bank and crowd was quite bad ( yet they say no money ).There were some igbo men that had come to deposit quite an amount of money and had been conversing loudly in their dialect not caring that they were been a nuisance.
All of a sudden a white man comes in and the teller receives his cash whilst ignoring the hisses and insults of customers.

The igbo men, trust them started insulting the man and went ahead to add more in their dialect, the white man then, calmly turnsto them and responded to them in IGBO language then went on to add a few more sentences... the whole bulk room kept shut out of shock of course.I turned to him in amazement to ask him on how he learnt igbo and he smiled and responded to me fluently in HAUSA.

Apparently, he had been there before every one else but the account number was wrong and he was told he couldnt make calls in the banking hall, he then went out to make a call and wait for the right account number. On his return,hE went straight to the teller as she had assured him that when he returned ,he wouldnt have to join the queue again. The teller should have explained to all instead of ignoring customers.

Any way my point is that these white men are smatter than us, they learn our languages so as to enable themselves settle in and do business whilst most of us go to their countries and come back the same people we were when we left if not worse.
Low self esteem at its peak!!

PoliticsRe: Travails Of The Almajiri by chukzzy1(m): 11:36am On Nov 03, 2015
Philipschasis:
Taking a walk down the streets of Kawon-Kudu area of Kano state, one begins to wonder on the cause of the critical state of children who have been subjected to abject poverty, it's way beyond pitiful, you see kids from the age of 6-18 roaming the streets with tattered clothes, holding plates begging for alms.

The value of western education is highly underestimated in the North, down south there's a high rate of competitiveness as every family sees to the education of at least one of its members, no matter the level of poverty. It's the reversed case up North, most of the people are non challant and care-less.

These kids who roam the streets are known as the Almajiris. They are sent to Koranic schools by their parents in the guise of acquiring Islamic knowledge, placed under the guidance and tutorship of Mallams who force them to recite the Koran daily until they graduate. This graduation might span more than 14 years. It is way different from other Islamic-related schooling as seen in other parts of the country, it's somewhat like a boarding school where the assumed students have to fend for themselves.

It would be of importance if we can list prominent Nigerians who have benefitted from this system of education. Don't be mistaken, most of these Almajiris are not necessarily from poor families, most have parents who are well to do, but are brain-washed against western values.

The state of this system is hugely-demeaning to whatever cause, this type of school stands for. Without mincing words 98% of these children are malnourished, with traces of sores spread round their body. Their folks believe it's a way of life, waving it off with talks like "you suffer to become great".

The Northern elites send their kids beyond the shores of this country to seek for western education and yet, they are fully in support of the Almajiri system, a system that the Federal Government has been funding for years without any fruitful outcome. A system with half-baked and archaic tutors who are no match for their Arab counterparts.

I have not lived to witness anyone who successfully gained employment with his/her Koranic certificate, even the most revered imams attain at least the minimum level of western education. Talking about development, most white-collar jobs up north are filled up with Southerners solely because, most Northern job-seekers are Koranic graduates.

These elites convincingly channel blames to the
Government for it's inability to provide jobs for the masses, knowing fully well that most investors have educational requirements for their workers, which many fall short of. The North is yet to grow into that stage of holding its direct-leaders accountable for their flaws.

It's easy for Boko Haram to manipulate these kids with their evil intents. People are lured from childhood to a particular system of education which at the end does not ensure employment. They are made to believe it's the Government, therefore feeling doomed they seek solace with whatever idea that's being fed to them. There is need to create awareness and for the continuance of the Almajiri system, these kids should be properly taken care of in a habitable environment and not left to prowl the streets begging for alms, it should be done alongside western education.
It's quite pitiful.
The northern elders like it like that. They prefer driving in posh cars and these kids troop to their house for alms than fund this kids

With Christmas round the corner, Paul Hodkinson believed the perfect present for three of his grandchildren would be hoverboards.

However, he and his wife Elaine, 57, say they were lucky to escape with their lives after one of the hoverboards exploded in their kitchen, causing £25,000 worth of damage.

Mr Hodkinson, who with his wife has six grandchildren, said the £300 hoverboard – also known as a balance scooter – fizzed ‘like a firework’ before going off like a bomb in their three-bedroom semi in Deal, Kent.

he says "We were horrified when we saw the damage. The kitchen is blackened and the rest of the house is smoke damaged. All we could do was salvage a few belongings. We’ve had to stay at my daughter’s.’

He added: ‘My biggest fear is that someone will be killed. The explosion came without any warning. The hoverboard had only been on charge for an hour.’
a Watchdog reported that the plugs supplied with some hoverboards, most of which are made in China, did not have fuses and could be at risk of overheating.

PoliticsRe: Report Links MTN Nigeria’s Record $5billion To Olu Falae’s Kidnap by chukzzy1(m): 10:40am On Nov 02, 2015
segello:
According to reports coming out from South Africa, the record fine levied on MTN Nigeria is linked to the role that unregistered MTN sim cards played in the kidnap of former minister of finance Olu Falae.

The source, South Africa’s City Press, reports that Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said the phone lines that the kidnappers used to conduct ransom negotiations belonged to MTN.

“Falae’s kidnappers used MTN SIM cards and MTN was unable to provide any registration data for those SIMs,” the commission said, as quoted in the report.

Sources close to the Commission say the decision on the $5.2 billion sanction was no longer a regulatory issue but now a matter of national security.

“The government insisted they must be sanctioned to make the right statement,” said an official quoted in the report. “In South Africa you can’t break their laws and get away with it. So why come to Nigeria and flout the laws?”

Other sources say that MTN had previously been warned about the security threat of unregistered sim cards.

The report said that MTN, along with other Telcos have been previously fined for flouting rules, based on the sum of N200,000 per defaulting SIM card. But the sim cards which were fined were based on random, limited-sample monitoring exercises, and not as numerous as in the current case. This could have given the impression that the fines were just a slap-on-the-wrist.

But “this time, the commission decided to penalize MTN for the total number of improperly registered cards – hence the unprecedented size of the fine”.

The report continues by saying that before Falae was kidnapped, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and the Department of State Security (DSS) cited concerns that the absence of registration data on sims was being exploited by criminals from kidnappers and fraudsters to Boko Haram.

In a meeting in August, Telcos were instructed to deactivate invalid and improperly registered SIM cards.

One week after the deadline had elapsed, the NCC’s head of compliance said at a press conference that, while other networks were taking steps to deactivate defaulting lines, MTN, which accounted for 47 percent of the improperly registered cards, showed “no compliance”.

RomanceRe: My Strange Experience With A Lady; She Almost Died In My Residence. by chukzzy1(m): 1:41am On Nov 01, 2015
Thryphosa:
Pls I need some pieces of advice from matured minds. I met this young beautiful damsel sometimes two weeks ago. We exchanged phone numbers and we started working things out on phone.....you know what I mean nah, fast forward. Six days ago, she came visiting with a younger girl. We just cracked some jokes together, watched some movies, had lengthy conversation and she left.
Her next visit was 4 days ago, which she came all alone. I was so happy, as I was thinking of visiting her honey pot which didn't happen that day, we did everything except sex as she said she was not ready to give me that day. I had earlier learnt she is having her SIWES programme in that town, and would end it by December, so I need not to put her in a rush, knowing my time would come soon.
She promised to be around again on Saturday. At about 10am, when mopping my living room and doing some chores I heard some knocks on my door, lo and behold she was the one, putting on a white trouser and a pink top looking so attractive and charming. There was no light, so I had to put on the generator. She was watching TV as I quickly rounded up my chores. I was supposed to cook but I did not, I only soaked some corn flakes and we took it together. Door locked, gen still on, and playing sound system. We left for bedroom, started kissing and she willingly allowed me to pull off her trousers. As I wanted to penetrate, she made some sounds which I thought was normal due to the penetration. Before I could even penetrate, she fainted.
I didn't know what to do, I was so confused and afraid. She was as if she was dead, no part of the body was moving, no supply of oxygen, what a strange experience! I have had sex with many girls without such occurrence. I have not even seen such I only heard about it occasionally. I shouted, wailed, cried but she was not moving. My neighbour in the other flat had travelled to Minna on Friday and my place is far from where I could get a transit system.
I thought of what I could do, I couldn't even think, memory blurred. I went straight to the bathroom, brought out a pail of water poured it all over her, began to beat, slap her, praying, confused, blowing air into her ears, pressing her cheeks, doing all what I could do. Suddenly she came to life but couldn't talk. I tried to make her sit or stand she could not, she was weak. I wanted to take her to the hospital, but her body, cloth, undies were soaked with water I poured on her, only her trouser which I pulled off earlier was dry, and besides there was no vehicle at my disposal. I tried to make her sit directly opposite the fan, away from the bed on the rug. She couldn't still move her hands well, tired still, and couldn't talk, couldn't open her mouth. I pressed her cheeks, difficult to open her mouth.
Again she fainted the second time, lying like a dead person. Again, I poured her more water, beat her, did all kind of things, prayed. Again she regained consciousness but couldn't still talk. I pressed her cheeks so hard, she cried. I made her to talk by force. She was weak, I made her to stand with my support. She would want to lose her mind again, but I would slap her and would come back. I made sure I didn't allow her to rest, I engaged her with talk which she was too tired to reply. After sometime, I took her to the bathroom, bath her, didn't allow her to sit, she asked for water but I didn't give her. She told me she was cold I put off the fan. She began to feel conscious and could identify me and talk again.
I told her we would visit a general hospital, and she refused saying she was okay. She needed rest, but I didn't allow her to sleep, cos I was afraid she might lose consciousness again. At about 3pm, she has started to feel much better. I was happy to hear she was hungry, I fried plantain, and cooked noodles. She ate so well, and spread her cloth outside to dry. After eating, she was feeling sleepy, I was afraid to allow her sleep. We moved to the living room cos everywhere in the bedroom was soaked with water. She laid on the tiles and slept but I was with her monitoring her, though I knew she was conscious enough. I woke her up at some minutes past 5. She was looking as agile as before. It was just by the Grace of God, I don't know where I would have been. God indeed intervened, despite being a sinner, he heard my supplication and cry.
After she was awake and feeling fine again. I asked about her past similar experience. She later made me to understand that she had a similar experience with her first boyfriend, and even her second boyfriend and that I was the third person. She concluded that the reason is that she's afraid of sex. I don't believe that, I think there's more to it. And I also inquired if she has ever told her parents or elders sisters about that, she said no, that she's always afraid to tell them cos she's only 20 and they would scold her. I instructed her and gave her transport fare to travel home yesterday, Sunday in other to inform her parents, she initially refused but later admitted to do that. She later felt better on that Saturday and left my place at about 6:30pm.
She came around again on Sunday afternoon around 1pm so as to charge her phone with generator cos her phone was down. At about 4:30pm on Sunday we left together for the park. He boarded a vehicle going to her place, the car took off in my presence and later got to her parents at around 6pm on Sunday.
Pls good people of nairaland I need your advice. What do I need to do? What's your take on this? Have you had or heard about a similar experience? What do you think is happening? Pls mod, help me move this to the front page, so that people can advise me. I don't know if she's also a member of nairaland or she comes visiting too. Thanks everyone in anticipation of your advice .
