Integrator1: As for my general state of health, I am fine , not feeling sick not noticing any more symptoms .. I read about HIV thread sometimes last year and ever since then I have been checking myself always , looking for symptoms and googling to get answers which prompted me to check myself and girl ..
So any other questions sir ? And what test do you suggest I take again to properly check myself and know what exactly is wrong If your only complaint is the feeling of a lump in your throat, you can get a barium swallow done to rule out any pathological cause, but I think this condition, Globus pharyngeus, should be strongly considered. |

Integrator1: Thank you Sir..
Male Late twenties . Sexually active but last was more than 3 months A single partner
Please Doctor what can cause one to have a feeling like something is inside someone's throat though no pain swallowing or difficulty breathing ? Or feeling like the food you eat is not well digested ?
Secondly, what can this ? Looks like aftermath of a tiny cut that has dried up but it appears on my thigh, leg and hands which I peel off though doesn't cause any discomfort. How long have you had this? Was it preceded by any incident, like swallowing of a fish bone or something? Have you done any investigations, like a barium swallow so far? Considering your age and the absence of pain/difficulty swallowing, I'll be thinking of esophageal candidiasis(but that's commoner in people with a background immunosuppression, eg HIV), and another is a condition called Globus Pharyngeus. This last condition can only be considered after you've been fully investigated and no abnormality is detected. It's more of a psychological problem, with symptoms worsening when there's anxiety. Most other conditions, which are numerous, would either cause painful or difficulty swallowing. I would like to hear more about your general state of health and presence/absence of other medical conditions. |

emekson: In the race to find cure for the deadly coronavirus, a biotech company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts has announced that the first batch of vaccine has been shipped for human testing. The first vial of cure was sent to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, Maryland. Moderna Therapeutics was able to come up with a vaccine. Human testing is expected to commence as early as April. In the race to create a vaccine for the deadly coronavirus that has infected numerous countries worldwide, a biotech company called Moderna Therapeutics, has announced the shipment of the first batch of coronavirus vaccine. This development was made 42 days after Chinese scientists released the genetic sequence of the virus that’s now called SARs-CoV-2.
In a report written by Time, Moderna sent its first coronavirus vial to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. This institution will prepare the vaccine and conduct testing on human volunteers by April.
The report also said that the NIH scientists will be testing two viruses simultaneously. Experts added that they have been already testing an anti-viral drug called “remdesivir” for patients with Ebola. The remdesivir vaccine has been injected to a SARs-CoV-2 patient. This trial was the first drug to be tested in treating COVID-19.
The first patient who volunteered in this groundbreaking research is an American who was tested positive of coronavirus after boarding the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Additionally, other patients who were tested of the virus will also be part of the study.
Based on the preliminary study, remdesivir vaccine showed significant result when injected to animals that were infected with two related coronaviruses: one, the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARs); and two, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). The scientists said human volunteers will be randomly picked to be injected either with the drug or a placebo for 10 days. There will be a series of blood tests, nose and throat swabs every two days of the drug testing, “to track the amount of virus ” in the volunteers’ bodies.
“Even if the drug shows some efficacy in keeping blood levels of SARs-CoV-2 from growing, it could help to contain (the) spread of the infection” the report in TIME, stated.
Scientists explained that they were able to develop the COVID-19 vaccine due to a “relatively new genetic method” that does not require huge samples of virus, compared to the previous process. They instead boosted that vaccine with this mRNA, a genetic material the was sourced from DNA that makes proteins. Moderna explained that they loaded the COVID-19 vaccine with mRNA and started creating the protein for “other immune cells to recognize” and mark the virus “for destruction”.
Moderna Therapeutics president Dr. Stephen Hoge explained that this type of protein is described like a software molecule in biology. The vaccine, he added, is likened to a software which will immediately be programmed in the body once it is injected. The mRNA forms proteins that can generate an “immune response” against the viru
https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/e451c8b293bc5d0118066f23f2b3583d?client=news The article is talking about a vaccine, which hasn't even passed through the trial phases, but you're talking about a cure. It's not usually common to talk about cure for viruses. |

9jatriot: Before now you used to hear, "I am glad I left that shithole" and all manner of demeaning statements against their home country yet almost all the cases so far of the coronavirus have been Nigerians who returned from high risk countries. The problem is that even if the government decides to close all flights, they will not be able to close it to her own citizens, so it behooves on those citizens to please stay where they are and stop remitting the corona virus home. Health › Re: Abuja Doctors Begin Strike, Amidst Coronavirus Crisis by ChybuzzDD(m): 8:03am On Mar 18, 2020 |
Correcto: Doctors in Nigeria are just overrated, I have traveled to at least 9 different countries including UK, US, India Canada, and have seen a lot. Nigerian doctors are just great in demanding salary increase and suppressing other health care professionals and their patients. Just like pastors most persons should not have been doctors. They lack the ethics. Most of them are doctors because it is a good paying job. They never try to improve anything other than their salaries. When there is an outbreak they find reason to run or blackmail they government. I have worked on a project with a South Korean doctor and I appreciated her proactive efforts in helping their society, but in Nigeria the ones I worked with were only concerned about the money they will receive from the project. The South Korean doctor was always punctual but the Nigerian doctor was hardly punctual. Everyone wants money, true! but you should also show passion in your field and help the society. When you see an American doctor online he or she is they to pass an refreshing information on good health but Nigerian doctors they most come online to fight for salaries, fight their patients or other health care professionals. There are many Western and Asia doctors on Instagram trying to calm everyone down in world by passing factual information about Corona Virus. Nigerian doctors need proper orientation. Those of us that work abroad also do the same. Where I work, i'm even more punctual than the cleaner, and do the cleaning by myself happily some of the times. There's no such thing as owing of salaries, when most hospitals even pay on the 15th of every month. You fail to realise the environment is not the same. It's very very difficult to function sanely in the Nigerian environment. In overseas, you work in an environment already equipped by the government with a very good maintenance culture; it's not the doctor that provide facilities for the hospitals, contrary to what most of you Nigerians think. Concerning information dissemination, have you ever seen a foreign national contradicts what their doctors pass to them? In Nigeria, everyone is a doctor and claims to know even more than the ones trained in the profession. Go through this health section, and see numerous claims and posts on how one herbal treatment or the other cures every disease in the world. In which other country do you have such rubbish? Such practices and beliefs significantly affect medical practice in Nigeria. It's very very frustrating for a doctor to satisfactorily function well in a Nigerian environment. I have great pity for those still working there. |

wwwihy: Doctors in Nigeria are the most insensitive set of human beings...strike,strike,strike and strike,,,,,No IQ of other means of achieving what they want. We have other professionals like Lawyers,Accountants, Architects, Engineers etc that never attempt to go on strike despite their poor salaries and conditions of service... But Health Workers in Nigeria are always taking advantage of human life to go on strike.
Some these ingrates are employed in public sector , but you will never see them at their duty posts, rather, they prefer illegal duties in private establishments.
God will judge everyone. Animal, when last did you work for months without a salary?? And when was the last time you offered free goods and services to someone just because he or she is a doctor? Do people like you ever realise that these people have families to take care of, as well as other huge responsibilities, just like every other Nigerian? For your information, people don't usually start with strike actions as their first line of action. They usually start with negotiations and ultimatum lasting for about 21 days. If the ultimatum ends without your unconcerned government doing anything reasonable, dk you expect them to postpone their already scheduled strike action just because there's coronavirus in town? It's you Nigerian masses that are insensitive and very selfish. Anyway, I still blame Nigerian doctors still functioning in that useless environment. They're the ones doing uh and your clueless government a favour by working in your poorly equipped public sector. For your information, many, including me have happily resigned from your so-called public sector to travel to and work where our services are needed and appreciated, and where the citizens have regard for those serving them. Whenever I decide to return to Nigeria, I'll never ever go close to any of your poorly equipped and staffed dilapidated buildings called public hospitals. |

adaperry25: My friend was diagnosed of Chronic kidney disease and he's been dialyzed thrice. The second dialysis results was good because the urea and creatinine level was slightly higher but when the third one was done..The urea and creatinine level shot up incredibly. My take was the third one wasn't properly done because he said it took hours before they could get his veins so they opted for his hands instead of thighs. My question is : Are there alternatives like herbal remedies or drugs that he can take to flush out and reduce the urea and creatinine level at a fair cost? He has spent over 400k and is financially handicapped. The doctor recommended another session of 6 dialysis with a neck line therapy which will cost over 500k.
Doctors.. Health experts please recommendations Lalasticlala fp please Nigerians and "flush out"! I wonder where you guys learnt that something in the human body can be "flushed out", as if you're using the toilet. Let your friend look for funds for renal transplant. There's no other remedy for end stage chronic kidney disease. Dialysis will continue for as long as he lives, and one or two sessions won't put everything right. That's why 3 sessions every week are recommended, and that cost quite a lot of money. |

[quote author=SenecaTheYonger post=87328137]It's a heavily engineered virus. Even HIV cant last upto 2hrs out of human body. [/quote
What is your evidence? I think in Africa, because of backwardness and lack of technological knowhow, people are used to talking without evidence. Why is it that this conspiracy theories are being circulated mainly by Africans(all the people I've seen so far in Facebook and other social media are Africans)? Why is that the government of the USA, UK, Russia and other developed countries of the world are not talking about it and pointing fingers to the culprits, despite huge human and material resources lost so far? Do you and your African brothers have better Intel than those developed countries? If it were true, do you think the US and UK, which are not too China-friendly, would be too afraid to point fingers to the Chinese government? If it were engineered by the USA, as some of your friends may believe, do you think the Chinese government, having lost so many people and resources, would be too afraid not to have officially blamed them for it even till this moment? I just believe Africans have a very negative mindset, and that has been one of the reasons we've not been moving technologically forward. Get a sample of the virus, analyse it, compare its genome and other characteristics to those of the naturally occurring ones(if any), and conclusively tell us how it was engineered, and stop using this same raw brain that hasn't been able to take us out of the stone age. |

There are so many documented evidences of diseases respecting color/race...in fact all the diseases u mentioned - malaria, typhoid, cancer, HIV, all have racial disparity. 9 Stop this baseless argument and conspiracy theories. When it comes to flu and certain other diseases, the weather/climate has a big role to play. It has nothing to do with skin colour. Blacks abroad are also being infected, but their relatively younger age and absence of co-morbidities(most blacks abroad are relatively younger and healthier than their counterparts at home) may be the reason none has died so far. |

But we claim we have an italian here but can't say anything about his identity. He has the right to sue the Italian government for breaching the rule of confidentiality, if his consent wasn't sought for. The truth is that neither you nor any other Nigerian, not even Buhari, has any legal right to demand for any patient's name. The decision is between the medical team and the patient. That a rule was breached in Italy doesn't mean it must be breached in Nigeria for you to accept the patient is a confirmed case. Nigerians are negatively minded, and I like the way the ministry of health stood their ground. It's not the name that's infected; it's a man who's already in isolation, no longer constitutes any further harm to the society, with his medical details already published. His name matters only to the medical team for identification and documentation, and not to the negatively minded Nigerian populace. |
