lightwalk:it is a fallacy of d highest order! Pls don't believe such! I am a mathematician. Look at the PROOF below lets assume Ø is d highest PN, Then let Þ= (2*3*5*7*11*13*17*. . .*Ø)+1. Multiple of all PNs from 2 through Ø. Clearly Þ is also a prime. Þ is another prime number clearly greater than Ø: i.e Þ>Ø. This thereby contradicts the original assumption that Ø is d greatest prime number. Therefore there is no greatest prime number. This is called Proof by Contradiction. Ps. if u don't understand this proof, don't worry! It took me 4 yrs in d university 2 come across it. Thanks! |
