What's your admission status like here?

Have you been offered admission or still pending?

Is there any WhatsApp group for PG applicants/ admitted for PG studies in existence?

I will like to join any one in existence for dissemination of information and ideas so we can leave this space for the Emmadox of a guy and his spamming nuisance.

@Emmadox

1) You should be sensible enough to know that people on this thread are PG and not undergraduates...so it will be hard to have people who make the sort of errors on their forms that you seek to help correct.

2) Many people have already gotten admission and processing their admission with the University. I wonder why you need to keep spamming the thread with a view to scamming people.

3) If you really know your onions, you do not need to spam. One post or reply is enough and people will recommend you. Spamming the thread everyday gives you off as a junkie high on UI portal mix.

4) The time you spend spamming threads on nairaland.com could have gotten you admission too for the same Msc or PhD you claim to help people get. And if you have a PhD already, leave spam and scam and go get a job

You have failed the society already but please don't fail that woman that had you for 9 months.

Go get a job

olaitoro:

I meant lagos when I said ogun state, population outflows in lagos are being absorbed in ogun state.
then Anambra by virtue of having almost 4 cities developing at the same time beat Enugu in the estate game.
Enugu is spreading outward from Enugu municipal city, while Anambra is spreading from core city centres of onitsha, nnewi, ekwulobia and awka.
Enugu can only compete with Imo state in that regard.
note, I am from Imo state.

When I said Enugu is the fastest growing city in Nigeria after Lagos and Abuja, I meant it and that's a fact. You better come down to Enugu and invest.

Apart from Lagos and Abuja, there is no other place in the country that you can buy JUST a plot of land of 600 square metres (60×100) in excess of 100 million naira. Since the last five years, the zoo estate in Enugu has been selling above that for a plot. Ditto for Liberty estate.
The most expensive 3 bedroom flat in Onitsha, all en suite can not be more than 350k. Onitsha still has flats of 10k a month. Investing there like Aba, Awka , Abakaliki is a waste of time. In the mist remote part of Enugu, you will be lucky to get all ensuite at 400k
Note. I am from Anambra and I know Onitsha very well.
Invest in Enugu bro!

if you have the money, invest now in those areas.

When it comes to properties, apart from Abuja and Lagos, Enugu is the fastest growing city in real estate in Nigeria.

Of course. You can get a plot if land within that range of 1-2 million in Enugu but in all honesty, it won't be habitable now. You will need to give it like 5-7 years before thinking of building to reside. It might be good though, going by your plan of building small small as money comes.

You will need to determine however your area of interest. Places you can get for 2 million are;

Amaoji Nike
Ibagwa Nike on the new road from Nike to Nsukka
Alulu just after the Enugu East local government secretariats
Umuchigbo Nike/ Emene where Fr. Mbaka has his ministry now.
Around Emene Caritas University axis.
Also around Idaw River in Achara Layout. Within the Ikirike axis.
These are the only places around where you can get a plot of land within that range.

I must encourage you. Enugu lands appreciate quite well. The earlier, the better.

I am a legal practitioner and I live in Enugu. So get in touch if you are serious.

Politics / Political Issues Of 2015 by chykeo(m): 12:55pm On Nov 21, 2013
RANDOM MUSINGS ON 2015 ELECTIONS......

FACTORS/ISSUES:

1. Religion...With the threat of Boko Haram, religious crisis...there is a distrust in the electorates of the two major religions in Nigeria. Many southerners will not be disposed to vote Buhari or the APC whom they view as sentimental to religious bigots. As well many Northerners feel they or someone of their faith deserves the Presidency since Yar'Adua did not spend his time fully after Obasanjo. Nigeria unfortunately, in this age and time, is still divided alongside religious lines.

2. Ethinicism: Just like Religion, this plays a major role in the psyche of the electorates. Denying the existence of ethnic politics in Nigeria will be like denying the existence of water in the Atlantic ocean. Before and after the elections of 2011, many of the arguments centered on whether or not the Northerners should be allowed to complete their tenure after Yar'Adua's death. That issue is still open and the North will want to reclaim the Presidency. The Southern Easterners voted en bloc for Jonathan in 2011, expect a repeat in 2015

3. Corruption: Many Nigerians are aware that the main issue with Nigeria's little or no development is the cancerous effect of corruption. Jonathan's government has not helped matters in this regard and Buhari is going to make a big issue of it. A lot of people in this twittering and facebooking generation will listen to them, should they focus on zero tolerance of corruption.

4. Geopolitical configuration of Nigeria: At present, Nigeria has 36 states, and to win the Presidency, a candidate must have won at least 25% in 2/3 of the states in Nigeria according to the electoral Act as amended. Jonathan did well in the North in 2011 but who knows how well he will fare in 2015 considering the issues above. Now, the North East and the North West have six states a piece. North Central which is where the VP comes from has six too. Should the North East and North West decide to Vote for APC, they would have gotten 12/18, with 13 to go. Now shift to the South West where their alliance under the APC may or may not give them the six states in that region too. The main battle ground is the South East which played a dominant role in the election of 2011. Should the APC field an Igbo VP, it may go either way. This is why it may be important to PDP that APC or Ngige does not win the Anambra state guber election. Already, the APC has a governor in Imo state. PDP should say Bye Bye to 2015 should Ngige win or should any other Governor joins Amechi's G19.

5. Division in PDP...with the emergence of the new PDP and all the court cases and battles, it will be a difficult election if the PDP does not put its house in order before middle of 2014. A house that is divided amongst itself cannot stand. The new PDP now has a G7 which is the seven group of governors that has recognized the Baraje led faction. Though the matter is now settled in court, but has it been settled within the feuding factions?

6. Governors' Forum: The governors played an important role in 2011 and their influence in 2015 should not be underestimated. Currently, there are two factions in the Governors' forum. Governor Amechi leads 19 while Governor Jang leads 16. Of the 9 with Amechi, 7 are already in the G7 and all of them are tilting towards the opposition. If the tide is not stemmed, their may be further drifting unless many of them are not going to run for another term in office.

7. Issue of sovereign national conference: Should the Jonathanian government goes ahead to organize this conference before the 2015 elections, it will create so many uproars, divisions and distractions that may affect the general elections. And nobody knows to whose advantage the effects may tilt.
For the sake of history and posterity, Jonathan should do all he can to make sure that his government does not preside over the disintegration of Nigeria.
Depending on how the electorates react in 2015, the issues above will have an effect. Jonathan however should know that no incumbent president has lost a reelection in Nigeria before.

For Anambrarians on the ground...we need updates on activities and happenings there...

But please no violence...the campaigns are over...no malpractises...no ballot snatching...

Don't allow yourself to be used as a tool....The politicians may not care if you live or die in so far as they get what they want.....Cast your vote and monitor events....make sure your vote is counted too at each polling station and collated...then update the result.....

For the observers and monitors at the Local governments...we expect updates too...

Anambra is a test case for 2015...let us see the power of the internet and social networks as a tool for free and fair elections......

With all your BBs, facebook, skype, and twitter, let us collate results individually. Hear your result from the presiding officer at your booth, party agents should also update the collated results at the local governments and then we shall all know the state's result....

No violence please....
Don't be a tool..........
Who dies today dies.....
Who wounds today wounds....
Who is arrested today suffers...
The election will come and go....
But we will remain Anambrarians...

Politics / Re: Corporal Punishment, Any Alternative? (video) by chykeo(m): 6:46pm On Aug 29, 2013
Last year I thought in a secondary school for nearly a year. I was class teacher for the Basic 6, while I thought at the secondary section. The guy in the video below is the computer teacher. After the Principal, I think he is the most feared teacher. When he teaches the whole class is always very quite and attentive. You dare not make noise. Some teachers even call him to help cane their pupils. I took this video last year during one of his disciplinary sessions and uploaded to youtube instantly. It has nearly 40,000 views already with all soughts of abusive comments toward the teacher, obviously from viewers outside Africa.

The question is, what do you think about corporal punishment in schools (in Nigeria). Is there an alternative.
In my time in that school, I personally discovered there is no other working method you can use for children of nowadays. The effectiveness of the rod cannot be overlooked. If you like shout from now till tomorrow, they wont listen, remove better koboko and see the difference

I am worried at the bolded for a secondary school teacher. Sorry No offense meant, but it is disturbing.

Politics / On The 'deportation Of Igbos By The Lagos State Government.....my Take by chykeo(m): 1:26pm On Aug 03, 2013
ON THE DEPORTATION OF IGBOS BY THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT;

I am firstly an Igbo before claiming Nigerian. That understood, I have taken time to view the ongoing squabble and crisis between the governments of Lagos state on the one hand and the government of Anambra state and the entire Igbos on the other hand. I wanted to get the facts clear firstly and then research on the position of the constitution and the extant laws of the federation on the same subject matter before talking. As a custodian of public opinion [to an extent], I think the Lagos state government operated within the ambits of the law.

1. The constitution is silent on living in any part of Nigeria and being removed from that part of Nigeria. {I stand to be corrected though]

2. There has been a precedence going by the correspondence between the Lagos state government and the Akwa Ibom state government.

3 Other records have shown that the government of Anambra state has also removed people from Anambra state.

4. There was a correspondence as we have seen about this recent removal of Igbos between Obi and Fashola and the former did not take concrete steps to systemize his own people who were destitute in Lagos. The state of New York in America at some points had removed Americans from New York to their own states.

Now if Fashola wants to clean Lagos and is ready to take care of sick Lagosians sleeping under the bridge, why wouldn’t their Igbo counterparts also try to clean their states and take care of their brethrens sleeping everywhere but homes. These people are vulnerable to rapists and ritualists and constituted nuisances in Lagos too. What could we do? Sanitize our own places should be the question.

Is Lagos anti Igbo? No! Our son is a commissioner there and other Igbos hold sensitive positions and from records, no Yoruba man holds any sensitive political post in the whole of Igbo land. Lagos state government called it reuniting destitutes with their families; you call it deportation. If Obi had followed up the correspondences, maybe they wouldn’t have dropped them at the middle of the night at Head bridge. I can’t agree more with LASG. So let all the hullaballoo stop

Hw many SWners contested wit OBJ in de same PDP wen he was going for a 2nd term. Now, Northern Gov's Forum are meeting almost every day because they hv a collective interast. Wen yu hv de number position in de land why bother for 2nd best.

If you agree Amechi has the right...then he should be allowed. Why all the hullaballo for excercising your right? GEJ or PDP should reach an agreement with him instead of fighting him.
Politics / Re: Why Is Jonathan Afraid Of Amechi? by chykeo(m): 5:32am On Jul 11, 2013
Aspiration to the highest office in the land is a constitutional right... Governor Amechi should therefore not be punished for his ambition. Wonder what would have happened in Rivers state today if Amechi has his own police {state police} as is obtained everywhere in the free world. Maybe we would be seeing a civil war down there now, or maybe President Jonathan wouldnt have ventured there in the first place!!!!
Politics / Why Is Jonathan Afraid Of Amechi? by chykeo(m): 8:30pm On Jul 10, 2013
Why is Jonathan afraid of Amechi? 35 Governors voted in the Nigerian Governors Forum. 19 for Amechi and 16 for Jonah Jang, yet Jonathan recognized the loser Jang. Yesterday 5 lawmakers loyal to Jonathan and his cohorts tried to impeach the speaker who has more than 23 lawmakers loyal to him and the Governor. Today, the police commissioner loyal to the President dispels Pro Amechi demonstrators and began shooting. Please someone should tell the Police Commissioner that no group of people needs police permit to demonstrate in Nigeria as decided by the courts in IGP vs ANPP [2007] 18NWLR [pt 1066]457. Incidentally, today 10th July is the anniversary of the forceful removal of Chris Ngige as Governor of Anambra state in 2004. So why should we not then have a state police to check these excesses and guarantee our freedom and democracy? Makes me think now where Jonathan was when we as students demonstrated against IBB in 1993 and all the fights for democracy?
Business / Tiles/marble Business In Nigeria by chykeo(m): 7:55pm On Feb 20, 2012

Useful suggestions are welcome.

I am interested in knowing just how to go about it.

Capital is not the problem but how to start it up and also the profit and economic prospects of the business.
Business / Re: Buying Clothes, shoes, bags And Jewelries From Dubai by chykeo(m): 5:01pm On Jan 03, 2012
There are a lot of things to consider before going into clothing business.

1. Capital

2. Source of goods

3. Location of business

4. Your clinetelle base

How much capital is at your disposal is important before you begin to consider the trip to Dubai? Factor in Visa, flight tickets and hotel accomodation plus miscelleanous expenses. Someone said 2500 dollars already for ticket and visa abi? that translates to about 400,000 naira alone! that means you must have another 600, 000 to be able to at least make some meaningful purchases. As a start up, do u consider ploughing 1m into it?

HAve you already gotten a shop or do you intend to do mobile marketing? If you already have a shop, you might give it a trail but if you want to do mobile marketing, then be aware that people willl be owing you and paying in trickles. Can you manage the funds as they come slowly?

I will first advice you start small. Source your goods locally first and build up a clientelle base before you begin to think of the trip to Dubai.

I am into the business. I live in Italy but have a shop and another supply office in Port Harcourt dealing mainly on Italian stuff. I can send you samples of what we are into and sell to you at the prices you will get goods in Dubai or even less.

If you are interested, then call me up on 08068122616
